chino11: I need no introduction on this board. If you go through my posts you had notice that I am pro-Igbo and to a large extent pro-Anambra. I am married with kids and God equally Blessed with me with material wealth and now I can boast of employing people from Awka to Port Harcourt to Yenagoa and most recently Warri. I wanted to hide under another username to pen this but something in me insisted that I should use this account, maybe because it has an antecedent.
This piece is about the terrible dream I had this afternoon, infact the nightmare is barely 30mins old and I could not remember how much long the it was.
I was in my bedroom this afternoon trying to check few stuff in my laptop while lying on the bed. As I was doing it, I was equally feeling tired and sleepy. I looked across the room and saw my wife and our kids strolling in from the children's room and I sighed knowing that it is over for what I wanted to do because kids won't allow you ignore them while looking at the computer. We all laid down and incidentally I fell asleep and next thing I saw myself n.aked with leaves as a cover. I knew I was with clothes earlier but how that clothes went is what I did not know. Probably it was taken by some people who needed it more than me. Another thing I noticed about the dream was that I was younger- as in age(teenager).
As I was working around, I didn't see people on the streets, the few that I saw were all running helter-skelter and in different directions. I was asking, what is going on, people were too impatient to respond. Then in anger I decided not to talk to anyone further, then headed to my house to wear a new set of clothes. As I was working down our street, it was actually the same street in Anambra where I grew up. Immediately I saw my mother walking out so fast and passing me and I turned, she didn't say anything but handed me a roasted corn. She moved passed me and continued to walk down the street so fast. I was like, why is she handing me a roasted corn? In all honesty I don't eat roasted corns. Each time my wife buys one I would say it is something I can only eat during the war due to starvation. That roasted corn my mom gave to me was very symbolic in a sense because I always refer to roasted corn as a war-time food/staple. Even till today, ask my wife my worst staple food, she had tell you already- roasted corn. I frown at it each time she buys one for the kids.
Now after collecting the corn from my mom, I continued down the street towards our family house at Trans-Nkisi estates Onitsha, incidentally my dad built the house. Immediately I saw military trucks at the junction leading to our house and I looked again and saw even more huge population of military marching down with guns. The truth was that up until now I never knew that war has started. I approached the junction close to my house where they blocked and I appealed to them to allow me cross that I needed to pick up my clothes because as they can see I am not wearing any but covered in leaves. One of them immediately seized me by the arm and continued to my father's house. I overheard them saying that the invading troops are close that they needed more people. I was hearing gun shots as we were going. We got to our house and I realized that every member of the family had fled and the military had turned our house into a military detention camp where they keep people that will be recruited for the war front. It then dawn on me that I was in a serious problem. They quickly put me into the ''detention camp'', incidentally that was our sitting room where I used to play with my sibling because it is quite a large area. It was inside the ''detention camp'' that I got all the gist, they WAR has broken out in Nigeria. It was at this point that I woke up with some tears in my eyes.
Look, I am a very proud person, I could have refused to share this dream because of ego or some people calling me a coward but I know that I may change the mindset of some of our youths if not all that WAR is deadly and can take anyone or a society 50years backwards. Again before you say that you shall fly out of the country; remember up till now I never knew how my clothes disappeared from my body. This symbolic because war is like spirit, it does not give notice. In that before you knew it the streets are already flooded with the military.
I am not saying that the agitators should stop agitating but what I am saying is that whatever anyone is doing let it not lead to WAR. Anything we can do as the new generation must not lead to war.
Mod, lalasticlala or anyone that is in-charge should better make this message reach a wider audience. Thank you An arab man was asking me this afternoon that in nigeria how many people do they buried on the ground at the same time. |

AMARACHINOSE: Governors of the South-east and the South-south zones met last Sunday in Enugu with a resolve to strengthen inter-regional cooperation and integration. The meeting which was the first of its type clearly signposts positive things to come, writes Christopher Isiguzo
Last Sunday’s meeting of the South-east and South-south Governors in Enugu State during, which the governors expressed their commitment to inter-regional cooperation and integration has been welcomed as a good development and a huge sign of positive things to come as the 2019 general election draws near. The meeting came on the heels of a similar one by political leaders from the South-east in Enugu a week earlier.
Apart from the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, and his Edo State counterpart, Godwin Obaseki, who were absent, as well as Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke, the remaining eight governors, four from South-south and four from South-east graced the maiden meeting.
The governors present include Chief Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Rochas Okorocha of Imo State. Others were Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Ben Ayade (Cross River), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa) and Nyesom Wike (Rivers).
The two meetings have also been seen from different quarters as having serious political undertone especially when viewed from the point that the two major outings came at a time some separatists groups including the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of a Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have intensified their agitation for the creation of a Biafran Republic and by so doing, causing serious tensions in the polity.
The proposed Biafra Republic, according to its promoters, would involve states from the South-east and South-south zones, hence the significance of the Enugu parley. The agitation had assumed a new dimension when on May 30, the IPOB and MASSOB ordered one of the most complied sit-at-home in the South-east and some South-south states, thus taking the Biafran consciousness to an all-time high. In response to these developments, some Northern youths, under the auspices of Arewa Youths, on June 6, issued a quit notice for Ndigbo living in the Northern parts of the country to vacate the region before October, 2017.
That eviction notice would eventually result in various groups holding meetings, to possibly come up with the most appropriate response to the rising tension in the land. Some major issues including the need to restructure the country, the unity of the country among others had featured prominently. The South-east and South-south governors Forum meeting in Enugu was therefore one of such regional meetings which came with high expectations of possibly reviving the age-long brotherly bonds, political and economic integration and cultural relationships devoid of mutual suspicions among others.

AltarBoy1: Will there even be any change. I think the real enemy to the Igbo race is their leaders. The keep shouting marginalization while their leaders keeps mum and enjoy the wealth of the nation. Why can’t they hold their leaders accountable? I have been to most states in the north, and it’s surprising to see states like Katsina, Jigawa, Dutse, Gombe and co with full functioning international airport mostly used during hajj. These airports where built using state funds. How come SE leaders can’t build such, despite the fact that the Igbos are the ones that travel the most in Nigeria? Even with the little allocation some northern states receive from FG, they have been able to build and develop their states. How come the SE and SS leaders couldn’t do same? Imagine the huge allocation of Bayelsa, despite its small size, there is nothing to write home abt it. Take a look at Delta State, same can be said. Its only Akwa Ibom and Cross River that I can give a pass mark. my guy, stop mentioning the deltan in any issues concerning igbos, biafra.just forget about the so called governors fake forum that ended the way its started |

AlwaysUltraPad: Patrick Ikpainyang wrote:
"For the sake of Nation building, I expected our Igbos compatriots to remain remorseful, with broken spirits and contrite hearts. They should emulate the Japanese and Germans, who after the 2nd World war, that they caused, have adopted pacifist Constitutions and behaviors. They have realized the folly and worthlessness of war mongering.
The activities of IPOB and MASSOB are not in the interest of the Igbos. Rather, unfortunately, old historical wounds have been ruptured. They have inadvertently resuscitated their past inglorious roles in the national disintegration. I don't blame them, because they were not born before the war, rather I blame their parents that lived through that period. And who should have cautioned them.
I was 9 years old, when Lt Col. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Governor of the then erstwhile Eastern Region of Nigeria seceded and declared the Republic of Biafra. In my youthful foolishness, I staked my life to a worthless cause and enrolled in OJUKWU VANGUARD. By the time I returned to my parents in our village which had been liberated by the Nigerian army, I lost 2 academic years, with war scars physically psychologically and mentally inflicted on me.
To start with, the agitation for Biafra is gross insults to the minorities of the then Eastern Region and worse still on the memories of those gallant men and women that paid the Supreme prices. Though Biafra was created by the Igbos, the minorities mostly from the present day Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, sustained it militarily, administratively and diplomatically.
With this, the roles of the following heros come to mind. Late General Philip Effiong,Ojukwu's 2nd in command, sustained Biafra militarily. Late Chief Ntieyong Udo Akpan, was the Secretary of the Government of Biafra. He was the defacto Administrator of Biafra. Late Chief Okokon Ndem Okon, was the Director General of Radio Biafra, and their Chief Propagandist. Late Dr Matthew T Mbu, was their foreign Minister and their foremost diplomat. Late Major Archibong was their most brilliant war tactician that liberated Ikot Ekpene six times from the Nigerian army.
With the exception of General Ojukwu, other Igbos used that war to make money. Left for the Igbos, the war would have ended in 1967, it wouldn't have lasted for 30 months. For instance Col Yakubu Danjuma , of the 1st Division and his Boys literally strolled into Enugu and occupied it. Ditto for most of the Igboland. But late Col Benjamin Adekunle of the 3rd Marine Commando, was frustrated in the present day Akwa Ibom state.
Wherever the battle was tough, most often a non Igbo was the Biafran Commander. The Igbos exhibited so much cowardice. They were saboteurs. It was such that General Ojukwu lost confidence in them, relied and confided only on the minorities, particularly the present day Akwa Ibomites. I am very happy that he appreciated their roles, as were conveyed in his orations at the funerals of late General Philip Effiong, Late Chief Ntieyong Udo Akpan, and late Chief Okokon Ndem Okon, my neighbor.
Again on the night of 15January 1966, 4 Igbos and I Yoruba Majors and their subalterns embarked on a killing spree. By the time it was over, they have assassinated the Prime minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the almighty Premier of Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Premier of Western Region, Chief Samuel Akintola, Chief Festus Okotie - Eboh. The two Igbo Premiers of Midwest region, Osadebe, and that of the Eastern Region, Chief Michael Okpara, were not touched.
The military casualties of that "coup", were Brigadier Maimalari, Commander of the 1st Brigade and the most senior Northern military Officer, Brigadier Ademulegun, Commander of the 2nd Brigade, and the most senior Yoruba military Officer, Colonels Shodeinde, Pam and Arthur Unegbe(the only Igbo casualty). Suspiciously an Igbo man, Senator Nwafor Orizu, the Senate President, (with President Nnamdi Azikiwe on vacation to Britain) handed over power to his Igbo brother, Major General Johnson Thomas Umunakwe Aguiyi-Ironsi. The Igbos were all over bragging about the superiority of their tribe. They waxed a record titled "EWU NEBE AKWA " meaning the goat is weeping.. That was a mockery of the Northerners over the assassination of their Leaders . And went about provocatively, openly hawking the tearful portraits of the late Prime minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
The Northerners violently rioted against the Easterners, derogatorily called "Nyameri". That was the remote cause of the declaration of Biafra and the bloody civil war. If the present Igbo generation knew the past inglorious roles their fathers played in the disintegration of this Nation, they should be hiding their heads in shame." If you live in the glass house don't throne stone.truth is bitter but the truth remains igbos are moving out of nigeria by October.let judgment prevail |

Did anyone tell igbo to leave this country? Are they not still the ones insulting everybody of holding them back?
You say you want to leave and a golden opportunity has presented itself, rather than keying into that, you continue going from one body to the other announcing how you are being marginalised, does this sound logical?
Now, how do you continue to see nothing good in a country you call zoo, yet insist in staying in that same country? These people call the hausas all sorts of unprintable names, yet you must remain with them, which kind wahala be that? One Egyptian vodka for you.. |

LionDeLeo: So, rather than simply leaving the zoo, unity begging parasites are going to court?
But for how long will these people continue to hold this country to ransom?
You claim without you, Nigeria in general and the north in particular cannot survive, now go and allow us to die, you keep running from pillar to posts seeking for who to be arrested, are these people alright?
I don't know why I always have the feeling these people are up to something sinister, otherwise, how do we explain this unacceptable utterances and actions of theirs?
Another very illogical argument they are putting forward is that they own a lot of immovable property in the north, but the yet to be answered question is what were they thinking while insulting everyone of being held back for their indispensability? Were they expecting to be citizens of a different country and still be thinking of contesting for office of the president or still be struggling with Nigerians for business opportunities within Nigeria?
I think this Arewa declaration should be welcome by them as a golden opportunity to fast track their historic ambition, otherwise I suspect something up their sleeves, honestly. they are in for a long thing october will clear their eyes.I keep saying this that those people are not nigerians but enemy of nigeria and thanks God the voices of the northeners represent the voice of God |
