meanwhile, you can also show us what YOU HAVE DONE with your supposed powerful language instead of all these yeye noises. Rather than talking generally, jus' pick out "BLIND ARGUEMENTS" so that it can be answered appropriately, thanks. waiting... |

mexzony: Python c# java and others. C++ has so many potholes even in the overall design of the language that is still much of an issue today. I can tell you that even experienced programmers who have coded in that language for years never master the language even some have said that they use it to code stuffs like games and low level stuff silmply because they don't have a choice. Also on another note i can tell you that apples objective C is also a language that is not liked at all but what can the programmers do. I think you should look up the design and issues with the language on Google or do some research. Its an extremely powerful language I don't argue with that at all. U raised some issues: 1. Potholes in C++ in its overall design. 2. Experienced programmers, even those that coded in it, never mastered it. 3. Some code in it 'cos of lack of choice. Before I start answering, are these issues correct? |

Dumken: Go and check the most valued guys. Besides why am i in this argument with you guys. When you talk about being paid. we are not considering the question again but even at that. The most valuable guys in any company are the c -> Assembly coders who have the power to do and undo. With C u are in charge of the app. And sometym last two years the requirement for an intel IT job is an Experienced Assembly programmer. Don't even try to misunderstand me, I'm also holding ur view. I mean ASM, C, Cpp guys are greater than these "high level" guys, in thinking, knowledge... The designer of Python, Java are C programmers, designer of Ruby is a C++ programmer, and the list goes on. Their actions shows that they intend dominance by causing mass ignorance in the name of Simplicity and fun. |

qidos121: i'm learning cause i love solving problems and computer, i also love creativity so i decided programming would be good for me, i'm currently seeking for admission to study computer science at unilag. I want to prove that the black man isn't dumb by creating an app white people will take and use seriously, it's high time they started using things we create, it shouldn't be one sided. This are my reasons sir, any advice. For u to show the white that the black man ain't blunt, programming is jus' the from the fundamental building blocks. U have to cut accros many fields in CS. I'm also learning. My first advice is Patience Upon Learning, take it piece by piece (i.e don't rush). Knowledge takes time, it doesn't mean u won't know anything 6month or a year. The quicker it comes, same way it leaves. Patience. |

I can tell you for sure that sine experienced Statusc++ and C programmers say that they use c++ not because they enjoy it but because they don't have a choice. I repeat fundamentals of programming and how to think like a programmer can be learnt even without learning C or C++.these are concepts and the programming language whatever you choose will just be a tool to use. Learning C or C++ is not a must to begin into the programming world. Sorry, I wasn't trying to be insultive. Jus' presentin' proofs. ExInferis: Programming is simply creating instructions in a very structured way (syntax) to have your computer perform some action. Just like a recipe is a series of instructions on how to cook a meal, so also is programming a set of instructions for telling your computer how to do what you wish. Everything you see and do on your computer in its powered state is governed by such programmed instructions.
To be able to create such instructions and program (or input) them into the computer, you must learn and use specific "programming languages" which speak the computer's language.
This languages include Java, C, C++, C#, VB.net, Python, Objective C, Swift, etc. They all have their specific idiosyncracies, but all can be used to accomplish similar things.
Programming in whatever language is very structured, logical, has rules, keywords, conventions, formats, best practices, and scope.
Programming can appear daunting, what with all those weird symbols, variables, hyphenation etc. But if you learn the basics, if you really ground yourself in one language, learning others would be easy.
But the first rule about learning how to program: develop a keen interest. Then be committed.
User Interface, or UI, are the various elements of interaction between man and machine. Things like icons, sliders, buttons, login fields, prompts, cursors, dialog boxes, search fields, drop downs, just about any item onscreen and the input paradigms that facilitate your interaction with a given software describes the User Interface. This field is usually the domain of DESIGNERS.
User Experience, or UX, describes the experience or utility of the UI and how it facilitates your enjoyment or efficiency in using the program. Thus, UI and UX are interrelated; good UI design makes the User Experience better, easier, intuitive, and enjoyable. Bad UI design, conversely, detracts from the software and can make a poor experience of using the software.
Examples of bad UI that lead to poor UX: clutter, excess ornamentation, bad color gradients, fuzzy or small text, poor DPI scaling, confusing navigation, etc.
Examples of good UI design principles that enhance UX: minimalism, muted gradients, clear button labels, hints, using tabs instead of deep-linking web pages, highlighting and front-centering key elements.
Google has some of the best UI on the web. On the Gmail page, all you see is the logo, the credentials fields, and some buttons. Their default search site has just the logo, the search box, and a couple of buttons.
Bad UI design include Jumia, almost all Nigerian Government websites, BBC, Nairaland etc.
Since we're on Nairaland let me highlight a few:
1. Same basic design since from 10 years ago when Seun was just starting. NL needs a visual makeover. 2. text formatting (BIU, emojis, superscripts and subscripts, etc) when composing still rely on html conventions, which is archaic and confusing. 3. Most of the interaction on NL is based on texts and quoting same, however replies are neither inline nor indented, making following a conversation tedious with the present quoting system that is time stamp-based rather than thread-based. 4. No way to block stalkers, trolls, and id1ots from needless mentions. No granular control on the content one wishes to see or block based on tags. 5. All the topics are mere hyper-links. Doesnt give a sense of context or content.
Mind you, everything I've mentioned above are my own words based on experience. You might need to research further online for more accurate info.
cheers. Most attractive, supposedly looking beautiful web sites are d worst (many good web devs have this position). I wonder what "framework" google.com is using - simple design techniques. Back to the basics. |

Dumken: I wasn't sleeping when I wrote that. I've got experience in d two I compared. When u learn start from the basics. C makes u flexible and by saying it's a fallacy, it's ur own opinion. Productivity being low gives u a chance to make ur own changes and discovery. Don't always go with easy things especially in tech. It makes you a slave. QUOTE ME ANY WHERE. Does he think serious companies such as Google, Microsoft, even Govts pay Assembly, C and Cpp guys same amount as Python guys? They won't even be sitting together, 'cos the thinking is different |

If anyone says that C, C++, FORTRAN are boring langs, tell 'em they're either ignorant or silly bigot. 1. Many OS now are days are written in combination of ASM, C and C++. 2. Java, Python, PHP and their families are implemented in C and C++. 3. Facebook and Google Search are both Product of C++. 4. Firefox, Opera, GC... Are cpp. 5. No one want to code sth like fighter jet nav sys in Java.
