WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY Friday, 30th October 2026 Day 303 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 295 THE BATTLE AGAINST ANGER KEY SCRIPTURE: “...He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city...” Proverbs 16:32 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the Gate of Good Character. Today, we confront another important battle—the Battle Against Anger. Anger is a natural human emotion, but uncontrolled anger can lead to destructive words, broken relationships, regrettable decisions, and spiritual setbacks. Many people have lost valuable opportunities, damaged their marriages, wounded their children, and destroyed friendships because they could not control their anger. You may not be able to control everything that happens to you, but with God's help, you can control how you respond. BIBLE PASSAGE: JAMES 1:19–20 “...Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God...” James 1:19–20 (KJV) God commands us to listen carefully, speak thoughtfully, and control our anger. Human anger often leads us to act in ways that do not reflect God's righteousness. God's righteousness refers to God's perfect standard of what is right, holy, just, and pleasing to Him. It reflects His character and the way He expects you to live and treat others. In the context of James 1:20, God's righteousness means living and responding in ways that agree with God's will rather than allowing human anger to control your words, attitudes, and actions. WHY YOU MUST OVERCOME ANGER 1. ANGER CAN LEAD TO SIN “...Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath...” Ephesians 4:26 (KJV) Feeling angry is not always sinful, but allowing anger to control your words and actions can lead to sin. 2. ANGER CAN DESTROY RELATIONSHIPS “...A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife...” Proverbs 15:18 (KJV) Harsh words and uncontrolled reactions can create wounds that take years to heal. Choose peace over unnecessary arguments. 3. ANGER CAN MAKE YOU ACT FOOLISHLY “...He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly...” Proverbs 14:17 (KJV) Anger can cloud your judgment and push you into decisions you will later regret. Never make important decisions while your emotions are out of control. HOW TO OVERCOME ANGER 1. BE SLOW TO SPEAK “...He that hath knowledge spareth his words...” Proverbs 17:27 (KJV) When provoked, pause before responding. Silence at the right time can prevent unnecessary trouble. 2. LEARN TO FORGIVE “...Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any...” Colossians 3:13 (KJV) Do not allow bitterness and resentment to grow in your heart. Forgiveness helps you release the burden of offences. 3. WALK IN THE HOLY SPIRIT “...But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law....” Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV) Depend on the Holy Spirit to develop patience, gentleness, and self-control in you. 4. AVOID NEEDLESS PROVOCATION “...Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go...” Proverbs 22:24 (KJV) Avoid unnecessary quarrels and situations that repeatedly draw you into destructive anger. Seek wise and peaceful ways to resolve disagreements. Seek wise and peaceful ways to resolve disagreements. Not every argument needs to be answered; sometimes, remaining silent and acting wisely is the greatest victory. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ demonstrated strength through patience, humility, and self-control. Even when He was insulted and mistreated, He did not allow anger to rule Him or lead Him into sin. “...Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously...” 1 Peter 2:23 (KJV) Through Christ's grace, you can learn to respond to provocation with wisdom rather than uncontrolled anger. True strength is not the ability to intimidate others; it is the ability to govern yourself. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A small spark can start a fire that destroys an entire building. Likewise, one angry word can start a quarrel that damages a marriage, family, friendship, or ministry. Before you react, pause and consider the consequences. Do not allow a moment of anger to destroy what took years to build. SELF-EVALUATION Do I easily become angry when people disagree with me? Have my angry words wounded someone close to me? Do I make decisions while emotionally upset? Is there someone I need to forgive? What practical steps can I take to develop self-control? CALL TO DECISION Today, decide not to allow anger to control your life. Learn to listen before speaking, pause before reacting, forgive those who offend you, and seek peaceful solutions to disagreements. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you respond with patience, wisdom, and love. Do not let anger control your mouth, damage your relationships, or weaken your Christian testimony. Rule your spirit with God's help. LITTLE WISDOM An angry reaction may take seconds, but its consequences can last for years. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, deliver me from uncontrolled anger, bitterness, and resentment. Give me the grace to be patient, slow to speak, and wise in my responses. Help me to forgive those who offend me and to resolve disagreements peacefully. Holy Spirit, develop love, gentleness, patience, and self-control in my life. May my words and actions glorify You and strengthen my relationships. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY Thursday, 29th October 2026 Day 302 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 294 THE GATE OF GOOD CHARACTER KEY SCRIPTURE “...A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold...” Proverbs 22:1 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the Battle Against Compromise. Today, we enter another important gate—the Gate of Good Character. Good character is the expression of godly values through our words, attitudes, decisions, and actions. It is who you are when nobody is watching. Gifts may attract people to you, but character determines whether they can trust you. Success without good character can destroy the very blessings a person has received. God is not only interested in what you achieve; He is also interested in the kind of person you become. BIBLE PASSAGE: GALATIANS 5:22–23 The fruit of the Spirit includes love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. These qualities reveal the character God desires to develop in His children. Good character is not merely about appearing respectable; it is about allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts and conduct. WHY GOOD CHARACTER MATTERS 1. GOOD CHARACTER HONOURS GOD “...Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven...” Matthew 5:16 (KJV) Your conduct should point people towards God. Live in a way that brings honour to His name. 2. GOOD CHARACTER BUILDS TRUST “...He that walketh uprightly walketh surely...” Proverbs 10:9 (KJV) Honesty, faithfulness, and consistency make you dependable. People can trust someone whose words and actions agree. 3. GOOD CHARACTER PROTECTS YOUR TESTIMONY “...Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men...” 2 Corinthians 8:21 (KJV) One careless action can damage a reputation built over many years. Guard your conduct in public and in private. 4. GOOD CHARACTER SUPPORTS YOUR PURPOSE “...Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful...” 1 Corinthians 4:2 (KJV) God expects faithfulness in those He entrusts with responsibilities. Develop the character needed to handle your calling with humility and integrity. HOW TO DEVELOP GOOD CHARACTER 1. ALLOW GOD'S WORD TO SHAPE YOU “...Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee...” Psalm 119:11 (KJV) Read, meditate on, and obey God's Word. Let it correct your attitudes and guide your decisions. 2. CONTROL YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS “...He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life...” Proverbs 13:3 (KJV) Avoid lying, gossip, insults, and careless promises. Speak truthfully and act responsibly. 3. PRACTISE HUMILITY AND KINDNESS “...Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another...” Romans 12:10 (KJV) Treat people with respect, regardless of their position or what they can offer you. 4. ACCEPT CORRECTION “...Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee...” Proverbs 9:8 (KJV) A person of good character is willing to learn, admit mistakes, and make necessary changes. 5. WALK IN THE HOLY SPIRIT “...This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh...” Galatians 5:16 (KJV) Depend on the Holy Spirit to overcome pride, anger, selfishness, dishonesty, and other behaviours that weaken your character. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ is our perfect example of godly character. He demonstrated love, humility, truth, compassion, and obedience to the Father. “...Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth...” 1 Peter 2:22 (KJV) Christ did not merely teach righteousness; He lived it. As we follow Him and yield to the Holy Spirit, our lives can increasingly reflect His character. Your greatest testimony is not merely what you say about Christ, but how your life reflects Him. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A fruit tree is known by the fruit it produces, not by the beauty of its leaves alone. Likewise, people may speak well, dress impressively, or display spiritual gifts, but their character is revealed through their actions and relationships. Let the fruit of your life demonstrate the work of God in your heart. SELF-EVALUATION Do my words and actions reflect Christ? Can people trust me to keep my promises? How do I treat people who cannot reward me? Am I willing to accept correction and change? What aspect of my character needs improvement? CALL TO DECISION Today, make a fresh commitment to developing godly character. Choose honesty over deception, humility over pride, kindness over cruelty, and integrity over personal advantage. Do not concentrate only on building your career, ministry, business, or reputation. Allow God to build your character as well. Become the kind of person God can trust and whose life brings glory to His name. LITTLE WISDOM Your gifts may open doors for you, but your character helps determine whether you can be trusted to remain there. PRAYER My Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, transform my heart and develop godly character in me. Deliver me from pride, dishonesty, anger, selfishness, and every attitude that does not glorify You. Help me to speak truthfully, act wisely, accept correction, and treat others with love and respect. Holy Spirit, produce Your fruit in my life so that my conduct will reflect Christ. May my life bring honour to Your name. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY Wednesday, 28th October 2026 Day 301 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 293 THE BATTLE AGAINST COMPROMISE KEY SCRIPTURE “...Abstain from all appearance of evil...” 1 Thessalonians 5:22 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the Gate of Faithfulness. Today, we confront the Battle Against Compromise. Compromise occurs when we abandon God's standards to please people, gain temporary benefits, escape pressure, or avoid suffering. Many people begin their Christian journey with strong convictions but gradually lower their standards because of fear, relationships, financial needs, or the desire for acceptance. Remember, what you tolerate today may eventually control your life tomorrow. BIBLE PASSAGE: DANIEL 1:8–20 Daniel lived in a foreign land where he faced pressure to conform to ungodly practices. However, he resolved in his heart not to defile himself. Daniel's decision teaches you that victory over compromise begins with a firm determination to obey God. He remained faithful, and God gave him wisdom, knowledge, and favour. WHY YOU MUST FIGHT AGAINST COMPROMISE 1. COMPROMISE CAN TAKE YOU AWAY FROM GOD “...Can two walk together, except they be agreed?..” Amos 3:3 (KJV) Do not allow temporary benefits to damage your relationship with God. 2. SMALL COMPROMISES CAN LEAD TO BIGGER ONES “...He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much...” Luke 16:10 (KJV) Small lies, secret sins, and dishonest practices can gradually weaken your convictions. Correct wrong behaviour before it becomes a habit. 3. COMPROMISE CAN DESTROY YOUR TESTIMONY “...Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men...” 2 Corinthians 8:21 (KJV) Let your private life agree with your public confession of faith. Your conduct should bring honour to Christ. 4. COMPROMISE CAN COST YOU YOUR DESTINY “...For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?...” Matthew 16:26 (KJV) Never exchange your integrity, holiness, or calling for temporary pleasure, money, or recognition. HOW TO OVERCOME COMPROMISE 1. SETTLE YOUR CONVICTIONS “...And Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself...” Daniel 1:8 (KJV) Decide beforehand that you will obey God, even when doing so becomes difficult. 2. LET GOD'S WORD GUIDE YOU “....Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee...” Psalm 119:11 (KJV) Do not measure right and wrong by popular opinion. Allow God's Word to direct your decisions. 3. REFUSE TO FEAR PEOPLE “...The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe...” Proverbs 29:25 (KJV) Do not disobey God merely to gain people's approval or avoid their criticism. 4. REPENT WHEN YOU FALL “...If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness...” — 1 John 1:9 (KJV) If you have compromised, acknowledge your sin, repent sincerely, and return to the path of obedience. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus resisted Satan's temptations and remained obedient to the Father. “....Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve...” Matthew 4:10 (KJV) Jesus did not exchange His mission for temporary satisfaction or worldly glory. Through His grace and the help of the Holy Spirit, we too can resist temptation and remain faithful to God. You do not have to compromise to survive. You can trust God and remain faithful. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A small crack in a building's foundation may appear harmless, but if ignored, it can weaken the entire structure. Compromise works similarly. A little dishonesty or a secret sinful habit may seem insignificant, but it can gradually damage your character and spiritual life. Deal with compromise early, strengthen your convictions, and build your life on God's Word. SELF-EVALUATION Have I lowered my biblical standards to please people? Am I knowingly disobeying God in any area of my life? Do I fear people's opinions more than displeasing God? What must I change today to remain faithful? CALL TO DECISION Today, decide to stop compromising your convictions. Refuse to exchange your integrity for money, your holiness for pleasure, or your faith for acceptance. Stand for God's truth in your home, workplace, business, ministry, and relationships. Choose obedience over convenience, truth over deception, and God's approval over human applause. Remain faithful to God and finish your race without abandoning your convictions. LITTLE WISDOM Never surrender your godly convictions for temporary benefits that cannot last. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me the courage to stand firm in Your Word. Deliver me from compromise, deception, and the fear of people's opinions. Help me to remain faithful when obedience is difficult. Where I have sinned, grant me genuine repentance and restore me to the path of righteousness. Strengthen me by Your Holy Spirit to overcome temptation and fulfil Your purpose for my life. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 27th October 2026 DAY 300 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 292 THE GATE OF FAITHFULNESS KEY SCRIPTURE “...Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful...” 1 Corinthians 4:2 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the Battle Against Hypocrisy. Today, we enter another important gate—the Gate of Faithfulness. Faithfulness means remaining dependable, committed, and obedient to God, even when circumstances become difficult or rewards are delayed. Many people desire blessings, promotion, and recognition, but God also looks for people He can trust with responsibilities. God is not merely looking for gifted people; He is looking for faithful people who will use their gifts to fulfil His purpose. BIBLE PASSAGE: MATTHEW 25:14–23 In the parable of the talents, the master commended the servants who faithfully used what had been entrusted to them. Their reward was not based on empty promises but on what they did with their responsibilities. The lesson is clear: God expects us to be faithful with our time, gifts, resources, relationships, and assignments. WHY FAITHFULNESS MATTERS 1. FAITHFULNESS PLEASES GOD “...Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things...” Matthew 25:21 (KJV) God values faithfulness in both small and great responsibilities. Never despise the little assignment He has placed in your hands. 2. FAITHFULNESS BUILDS TRUST “...He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much...” Luke 16:10 (KJV) If people cannot trust you with small responsibilities, it becomes difficult to trust you with greater ones. 3. FAITHFULNESS PRESERVES YOUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY “...Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life...” Revelation 2:10 (KJV) Your commitment to Christ must not depend on convenience. Remain faithful through changing seasons. HOW TO PRACTISE FAITHFULNESS 1. BE FAITHFUL TO GOD'S WORD “...But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it...” Luke 11:28 (KJV) Do not merely listen to God's Word; practise it in your daily decisions. 2. BE FAITHFUL IN SMALL RESPONSIBILITIES “...He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much...” Luke 16:10 (KJV) Perform your duties diligently, even when nobody notices or rewards you. 3. BE FAITHFUL IN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS “...A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity...” Proverbs 17:17 (KJV) Demonstrate loyalty, honesty, love, and dependability in your family, friendships, and Christian fellowship. 4. REMAIN FAITHFUL DURING DIFFICULT TIMES “...But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer...” 1 Peter 4:7 (KJV) Do not abandon your walk with God because of disappointment, delay, or persecution. Continue trusting and obeying Him. 5. COMPLETE THE ASSIGNMENT GOD HAS GIVEN YOU “...I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do...” John 17:4 (KJV) Follow Christ's example by giving yourself wholeheartedly to the work God has entrusted to you. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ demonstrated perfect faithfulness to the Father. He obeyed God's will, endured the cross, and completed His earthly assignment. His example reminds you that faithfulness is not measured by how easy the journey becomes, but by your continued obedience to God. Through His grace, we can remain steadfast and fulfil our calling. “...Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised ...” Hebrews 10:23 (KJV)LIFE ILLUSTRATION A farmer does not plant seeds today and expect to harvest tomorrow. He must water, weed, protect, and patiently care for the crops until harvest time. Likewise, faithfulness requires consistency. Continue doing what is right, even when results are not immediately visible. Faithfulness today prepares the ground for tomorrow's testimony. SELF-EVALUATION Am I faithful to God when nobody is watching? Can people depend on me to keep my word? Am I neglecting any responsibility God has entrusted to me? Do I remain committed when circumstances become difficult? What must I correct to become more faithful? CALL TO DECISION Today, make a fresh commitment to faithfulness. Be dependable in your service to God, honest in your dealings, loyal in your relationships, and diligent in your responsibilities. Do not allow disappointment, delay, or temptation to make you abandon your assignment. Remain faithful until the end, and let your life bring joy to the heart of God. LITTLE WISDOM God may give you an assignment because of your gifts, but your faithfulness determines how well you fulfil it. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me the grace to remain faithful in every area of my life. Help me to obey Your Word, fulfil my responsibilities, and remain steadfast through difficult seasons. Deliver me from inconsistency, carelessness, and every temptation to abandon my assignment. May I be found faithful in Your sight until the end of my journey. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 26th October 2026 DAY 299 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 291 THE BATTLE AGAINST HYPOCRISY KEY SCRIPTURE “...Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity...” Matthew 23:28 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the Gate of Integrity. Today, we confront another dangerous enemy of genuine Christianity—the Battle Against Hypocrisy. Hypocrisy occurs when a person's outward appearance contradicts the true condition of the heart. It is pretending to be what you are not, especially by presenting yourself as righteous while knowingly tolerating sin in your private life. You may deceive people with your appearance, but you cannot deceive God. God is not merely interested in how spiritual you appear before people; He is concerned about who you are when nobody is watching. BIBLE PASSAGE: MATTHEW 23:23–28 Jesus rebuked the religious leaders who carefully observed outward religious practices while neglecting justice, mercy, and faith. They appeared righteous outwardly, but their hearts were far from God's expectations. This teaches you that religious activities cannot replace genuine righteousness. Attending church, preaching, praying, and quoting Scripture must be accompanied by a sincere heart and an obedient life. HOW HYPOCRISY MANIFESTS ITSELF Preaching what you refuse to practise. Appearing holy in public while living carelessly in private. Pretending to love people while secretly working against them. Condemning others for sins you deliberately tolerate in yourself. Using religious activities to cover an unrepentant heart. “...Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?...” Matthew 7:3 (KJV) WHY YOU MUST WIN THIS BATTLE 1. GOD SEES BEYOND YOUR OUTWARD APPEARANCE “...For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart...” 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV) People may be impressed by your words, dressing, position, and spiritual gifts, but God examines your heart. 2. HYPOCRISY DESTROYS YOUR TESTIMONY “...Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven...” Matthew 5:16 (KJV) When your actions contradict your confession, you weaken your witness and may cause others to stumble. 3. GOD DESIRES SINCERITY AND TRUTH “...Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom...” Psalm 51:6 (KJV) God desires genuine transformation, not a religious performance designed to impress people. HOW TO OVERCOME HYPOCRISY 1. EXAMINE YOUR OWN HEART FIRST “...Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves...” 2 Corinthians 13:5 (KJV) Before judging others, honestly examine your motives, attitudes, and conduct. 2. PRACTISE WHAT YOU TEACH “...But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves...” James 1:22 (KJV) Let your life support your message. Do not merely teach the truth; live by it. 3. CONFESS AND REPENT OF HIDDEN SINS “...He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy...” Proverbs 28:13 (KJV) Stop protecting the sins you should be surrendering to God. Genuine repentance involves confession and turning away from wrongdoing. 4. SEEK GOD'S APPROVAL ABOVE HUMAN PRAISE “...For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ...” Galatians 1:10 (KJV) Do not make your spiritual life a performance for public recognition. Seek to please God, even when nobody applauds you. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ lived without hypocrisy. His words, actions, and motives were perfectly consistent with the Father's will. Through Him, we are called to abandon pretence and walk in truth. His grace enables us to acknowledge our weaknesses, repent sincerely, and pursue genuine transformation. “...If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness...” 1 John 1:9 (KJV) LIFE ILLUSTRATION A person may paint the outside of a building beautifully while allowing its foundation to weaken. The building may impress visitors, but its hidden weakness remains dangerous. Likewise, a person may maintain an impressive Christian appearance while neglecting the heart. Eventually, the hidden condition may become visible through words, decisions, and behaviour. Do not spend more time decorating your spiritual appearance than developing your spiritual character. SELF-EVALUATION Does my private life agree with my public confession? Am I practising the truths I teach others? Do I condemn in others what I secretly tolerate in myself? Am I more concerned about God's approval or people's applause? Is there anything I need to confess and forsake today? CALL TO DECISION Today, reject every form of hypocrisy. Stop pretending, hiding, and living a double life. Ask God to cleanse your heart and help you live sincerely before Him and others. Choose genuine transformation over religious pretence, and let your private life honour the Christ you publicly confess. LITTLE WISDOM Hypocrisy seeks applause from people; sincerity seeks approval from God. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every form of hypocrisy. Search my heart and expose every hidden attitude that contradicts Your Word. Give me the grace to repent sincerely, practise what I teach, and live a life of truth and holiness. Let my private life and public confession agree, and may my conduct bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 25th October 2026 DAY 298 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 290 THE GATE OF INTEGRITY KEY SCRIPTURE “...The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him...” Proverbs 20:7 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the Battle Against Pride. Today, we enter another important gate—the Gate of Integrity. Integrity means doing what is right even when nobody is watching. It means your private life agrees with your public confession, and your actions reflect your beliefs. Many people want success, honour, and promotion, but not everyone is willing to pay the price of integrity. Your character is what you choose to do when compromising would be easier and nobody would discover it. BIBLE PASSAGE: DANIEL 6:1–5 Daniel distinguished himself through an excellent spirit and faithful service. His enemies searched for grounds to accuse him but could find no corruption or negligence in his conduct. Daniel's life teaches you that integrity is a powerful testimony. You should live in such a way that people cannot easily find legitimate grounds to accuse you of wrongdoing. WHY INTEGRITY MATTERS 1. INTEGRITY PLEASES GOD “...The LORD abhorreth the froward: but his secret is with the righteous...” Proverbs 3:32 (KJV) God is concerned not only about what people see but also about the condition of your heart. Live honestly before Him. 2. INTEGRITY BUILDS TRUST “...Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men...” 2 Corinthians 8:21 (KJV) Your family, church, workplace, and community need people whose words can be trusted and whose actions are dependable. 3. INTEGRITY PROTECTS YOUR TESTIMONY “...He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known...” Proverbs 10:9 (KJV) Dishonesty may bring temporary advantages, but it can destroy years of good reputation. Integrity helps you walk with confidence. HOW TO WALK IN INTEGRITY 1. SPEAK THE TRUTH “...Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour...” Ephesians 4:25 (KJV) Do not lie to escape responsibility or gain an advantage. 2. KEEP YOUR PROMISES “...He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not...” Psalm 15:4 (KJV) Be a person whose commitments matter. If circumstances prevent you from fulfilling a promise, communicate honestly. 3. REJECT DISHONEST GAIN “...Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right...” Proverbs 16:8 (KJV) Never sacrifice your conscience, faith, or reputation for money obtained through dishonest means. 4. BE FAITHFUL IN SECRET "...For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops..." Luke 12:2-3 Maintain your relationship with God when nobody is watching. Private faithfulness strengthens public character. 5. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR MISTAKES “...He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy...” Proverbs 28:13 (KJV) Do not hide wrongdoing or blame others for your failures. Admit your mistakes, seek forgiveness, and make things right where possible. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ lived a life of perfect truth, righteousness, and faithfulness. Even under pressure, He remained obedient to the Father and fulfilled His divine assignment. As His follower, you must allow His truth to shape your character and guide your decisions. “...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me...” John 14:6 (KJV) LIFE ILLUSTRATION A businessman once discovered that a customer had mistakenly paid more money than was required. Nobody else knew about the mistake, and he could easily have kept the excess. However, he contacted the customer and returned the money. He lost nothing by being honest; instead, he gained something more valuable—the customer's trust. Integrity may cost you an immediate advantage, but dishonesty can cost you something far greater. SELF-EVALUATION Are my words and actions consistent? Do I remain honest when dishonesty could benefit me? Can people trust me with money, responsibilities, and confidential matters? Am I willing to admit my mistakes? Is my private life pleasing to God? CALL TO DECISION Today, choose integrity over convenience, truth over deception, and righteousness over dishonest gain. Let your life reflect Christ whether you are in public or private. Remember that your greatest treasure is not merely what you possess, but the character you build before God. LITTLE WISDOM Integrity is doing what is right when doing wrong appears easier and nobody seems to be watching. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me the grace to walk in integrity. Deliver me from dishonesty, deceit, hypocrisy, and the temptation to compromise my convictions. Help me to speak the truth, keep my promises, and remain faithful in secret. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 24th October 2026 DAY 297 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 289 THE BATTLE AGAINST PRIDE KEY SCRIPTURE “...Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall...” Proverbs 16:18 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the Gate of Servant Leadership. Today, we confront another dangerous enemy of spiritual growth—the Battle Against Pride. Pride makes people believe they are better than others. It makes them forget the God who gave them life, wisdom, opportunities, and success. Pride can enter through wealth, education, position, spiritual gifts, achievements, and even ministry success. The danger of pride is that it can grow in your heart while you believe you are still walking with God. BIBLE PASSAGE: DANIEL 4:28–37 King Nebuchadnezzar became proud of his achievements and glory. He declared that his power and majesty had established his kingdom. While he was still speaking, judgment came upon him. He lost his royal dignity and lived like an animal until he acknowledged God's sovereignty. His experience teaches us that no human achievement can make us greater than the God who gives us the ability to succeed. HOW PRIDE MANIFESTS ITSELF Taking the glory that belongs to God. Looking down on people you consider inferior. Refusing correction, advice, or rebuke. Believing you are always right. Boasting about your achievements while forgetting God's grace. Refusing to apologise when you are wrong. “...God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble...” James 4:6 (KJV) WHY YOU MUST WIN THIS BATTLE 1. PRIDE CAN LEAD TO DESTRUCTION “...Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall...” Proverbs 16:18 (KJV) Pride can destroy relationships, ministries, careers, and opportunities. Never allow success to make you careless about your character. 2. PRIDE CAN PREVENT YOU FROM RECEIVING GOD'S GRACE “...God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble...” James 4:6 (KJV) When you exalt yourself, you place yourself in opposition to God's instruction. Humility positions your heart to receive His grace. 3. EVERYTHING YOU HAVE COMES FROM GOD “...For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive?...” 1 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV) Your intelligence, strength, gifts, opportunities, and achievements should produce gratitude, not arrogance. 4. PRIDE BRINGS SHAME “...When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom...” Proverbs 11:2 (KJV) Pride can cause you to lose the respect of others and bring disgrace upon your life. When you refuse correction, despise advice, or exalt yourself above others, you may eventually experience shame. Humility, on the other hand, helps you acknowledge your mistakes, receive correction, and walk in wisdom. Do not allow pride to take you to a place where shame will bring you down. 5. PRIDE CAN MAKE YOU FALL FROM YOUR POSITION “...For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted...” Luke 14:11 (KJV) Pride can cause a person to lose a position, privilege, opportunity, or honour that God has given them. When you begin to think that you are too important to listen, serve, or submit to godly counsel, you put yourself at risk of falling. Never allow your position, achievements, spiritual gifts, or influence to make you feel superior to others. The higher God lifts you, the more important it is to remain humble before Him. HOW TO OVERCOME PRIDE 1. ACKNOWLEDGE GOD AS YOUR SOURCE “...But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth...” Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV) 2. RECEIVE CORRECTION WITH HUMILITY “..Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee...” Proverbs 9:8 (KJV) 3. LEARN FROM THE HUMILITY OF CHRIST “...And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross...” Philippians 2:8 (KJV) 4. SERVE OTHERS WITHOUT SEEKING PRAISE “...By love serve one another...” Gal. 5:13 (KJV) 5. GIVE GOD THE GLORY FOR YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS “...Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake...” Psalm 115:1 (KJV) CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ demonstrated perfect humility. Though He is the Son of God, He came to serve and gave His life for humanity. He never used His position to promote selfish ambition. His life teaches you that true greatness is expressed through obedience, humility, and love. Through His grace, you can overcome pride and develop a heart that honours God. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A tree that bears much fruit often bends its branches under the weight of that fruit. Likewise, the more God blesses a person, the more humble that person should become. If your blessings make you look down on others, pride is taking root. But if they make you more grateful, compassionate, and willing to serve, you are learning the way of Christ. SELF-EVALUATION Have my achievements made me proud? Can I accept correction without becoming offended? Do I look down on people because of their circumstances? Do I give God the glory for my successes? Am I willing to apologise when I am wrong? CALL TO DECISION Today, reject pride in every form. Acknowledge God as the source of your blessings, receive correction with humility, and treat others with respect. Do not allow your gifts to make you forget the Giver. Choose humility before pride brings you down. LITTLE WISDOM Pride makes you appear great before people, but humility makes you pleasing to God. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, search my heart and remove every seed of pride. Deliver me from arrogance, self-exaltation, and the desire to receive glory that belongs to You. Give me a humble and teachable spirit. Help me to honour You in my achievements and serve others with love. Let the humility of Christ be seen in my life. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 23rd October 2026 DAY 296 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 288 THE GATE OF SERVANT LEADERSHIP KEY SCRIPTURE “...For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many...” Mark 10:45 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the Gate of Finishing Well. Today, we enter another important gate—the Gate of Servant Leadership. Leadership is not merely about occupying a position, giving instructions, or commanding people. It is about serving others with humility, love, integrity, and a heart that honours God. In God's kingdom, greatness is not measured by how many people serve you, but by how faithfully you serve others. BIBLE PASSAGE: JOHN 13:1–17 Jesus Christ, the Master and Lord, washed His disciples' feet. He demonstrated that true leadership is not about pride or self-importance but about humble service. If Jesus could humble Himself to serve His disciples, no Christian leader should consider any genuine act of service beneath his dignity. WHAT IS SERVANT LEADERSHIP? Servant leadership means using your position, gifts, resources, and influence to serve God and benefit others rather than exploiting them for personal gain. A servant leader does not lead merely to be celebrated; he leads to make a difference. WHY SERVANT LEADERSHIP MATTERS 1. JESUS CHRIST IS OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE “...For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you...” John 13:15 (KJV) Christian leaders must follow Christ's example of humility, compassion, and sacrifice. 2. GREATNESS IN GOD'S KINGDOM REQUIRES SERVICE “...But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant...” Matthew 23:11 (KJV) Never use your position to oppress people. Use it to lift them, guide them, and help them fulfil God's purpose. 3. GOD VALUES FAITHFUL SERVICE “...And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men...” Colossians 3:23 (KJV) Whether you are a pastor, parent, church worker, employer, or community leader, serve faithfully as someone accountable to God. HOW TO PRACTISE SERVANT LEADERSHIP 1. LEAD WITH HUMILITY “...Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves...” Philippians 2:3 (KJV) Never allow your position, title, achievements, or spiritual gifts to make you proud. Recognise that leadership is a responsibility entrusted to you by God. 2. LISTEN TO PEOPLE “...Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath...” James 1:19 (KJV) A servant leader listens to understand, not merely to respond. Take people's concerns seriously and avoid making decisions without considering those who will be affected. 3. SERVE WITHOUT DISCRIMINATION “...My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons...” James 2:1 (KJV) Do not show favouritism because of wealth, social status, family background, or personal connections. Treat everyone with dignity and fairness. 4. LEAD BY EXAMPLE “...Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity...” 1 Timothy 4:12 (KJV) Do not demand from others what you are unwilling to practise yourself. Your character, conduct, and commitment should support the instructions you give. 5. DEVELOP OTHER PEOPLE “...And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also...” 2 Timothy 2:2 (KJV) A good leader does not suppress the gifts of others to protect his position. He trains, encourages, and empowers people to grow and fulfil their God-given potential. 6. REMAIN ACCOUNTABLE TO GOD “...So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God...” Romans 14:12 (KJV) Remember that leadership is not a licence to control or exploit people. God will hold every leader accountable for how he uses his authority and treats those entrusted to his care. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ conquered pride through humility and demonstrated the highest expression of servant leadership by giving His life for humanity. “...Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus...” Philippians 2:5 (KJV) As followers of Christ, we must reject selfish ambition and embrace the mind of our Master. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A shepherd does not lead his sheep merely to enjoy the benefits of having a flock. He watches over them, guides them to food and water, and protects them from danger. Likewise, a godly leader does not abandon the people entrusted to his care. He guides, protects, teaches, and serves them faithfully. Your leadership is proven not merely by those who follow you, but by how faithfully you care for them. SELF-EVALUATION Do I use my position to serve or to control others? Am I humble enough to perform tasks that may not bring me recognition? Do I treat everyone fairly, regardless of their status? Am I helping others grow in their gifts and responsibilities? Will God be pleased with how I am using my leadership position? CALL TO DECISION Today, decide to become a servant leader. Reject pride, selfish ambition, and the desire to dominate others. Follow the example of Jesus Christ, and use your influence to bless people and glorify God. LITTLE WISDOM A proud leader demands to be served; a godly leader leads by serving. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me the heart of a servant. Deliver me from pride, selfish ambition, and the desire to dominate others. Teach me to lead with humility, wisdom, love, and integrity. Help me to serve faithfully, develop others, and use every opportunity to bless people and glorify Your name. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 22nd October 2026 DAY 295 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 287 THE GATE OF FINISHING WELL KEY SCRIPTURE “...I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith...” 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the battle against giving up. Today, we enter another important gate—the Gate of Finishing Well. Starting is important. Continuing is important. But finishing well is essential. Many people begin with enthusiasm but do not finish with faithfulness. Some begin in prayer but end in compromise. Some begin in holiness but end in worldliness. Some begin with humility but end in pride. Some begin with Christ but gradually allow other things to take His place. The question is not only: “How did you start?” The greater question is: “How will you finish?” BIBLE PASSAGE: 2 Timothy 4:6–8 Paul was approaching the end of his earthly journey. He could look back and say: “...I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith...” 2 Tim 4:7 That is the testimony every believer should desire. Not merely: “I was once on fire.” But: “I remained faithful.” WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO FINISH WELL? To finish well means to remain faithful to God, His Word, His calling and His purpose until the end. Finishing well means: Keeping your faith when circumstances change. Keeping your character when success comes. Keeping your holiness when temptation increases. Keeping your humility when people celebrate you. Keeping your love for Christ throughout your journey. Completing what God entrusted to you. WHY FINISHING WELL MATTERS 1. A GOOD BEGINNING DOES NOT GUARANTEE A GOOD ENDING King Saul began with promise but ended tragically because of disobedience. Solomon began with wisdom but later allowed his heart to be turned away from God. These examples remind us that yesterday's obedience cannot replace today's obedience. You must continue walking with God. 2. GOD IS INTERESTED IN FAITHFULNESS Jesus said: “...Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life...” Rev. 2:10 (KJV) The command is not merely: “Be successful.” It is: “Be faithful.” 3. YOUR END CAN AFFECT YOUR LEGACY People may remember how you began, but your ending can speak loudly about the authenticity of your journey. Paul finished well. Jesus finished well. We must desire the same grace. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES: PAUL — A MAN WHO FINISHED WELL Paul endured persecution, imprisonment, rejection and suffering. Yet at the end he could say: “I have kept the faith.” He did not allow hardship to make him abandon Christ. JESUS CHRIST — THE PERFECT EXAMPLE Jesus came with a divine assignment and completed it. At the cross He declared: “...It is finished...” John 19:30 (KJV) Jesus did not leave His assignment incomplete. He fulfilled the Father's purpose. CALEB — FAITHFUL TO THE END Caleb followed God wholeheartedly from his youth into old age. At eighty-five he said: “...As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me...” Joshua 14:11 (KJV) Age did not destroy his faith. Delay did not destroy his faith. The passage of time did not destroy his confidence in God's promise. HOW TO FINISH WELL 1. GUARD YOUR HEART “...Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life...” Proverbs 4:23 (KJV) Protect your relationship with God. 2. KEEP YOUR EYES ON CHRIST Do not allow people, money, success, disappointment or persecution to become your focus. “...Looking unto Jesus…” Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) 3. CONTINUE IN THE WORD Jesus said: “...If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed...” John 8:31 (KJV) Continuation is evidence of discipleship. 4. AVOID COMPROMISE Never exchange your eternal reward for temporary pleasure. Esau exchanged his birthright for one meal. Do not sell what is eternal because of what is temporary. 5. FINISH YOUR ASSIGNMENT Do not die with what God asked you to accomplish still buried within you. Jesus said: “...I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do...” John 17:4 (KJV) May this also become our testimony. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY The Christian journey is a race. “...Let us run with patience the race that is set before us...” Hebrews 12:1 (KJV) The prize belongs to those who remain faithful. Therefore, do not merely seek a powerful beginning. Seek a faithful ending. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ completed His earthly assignment. He endured the cross. He defeated death. He rose again. He ascended to the Father. And He will return for His own. His life gives us the perfect pattern: Obedience from beginning to end. Because Christ finished His work, we have grace to finish ours. “...Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ...” Philippians 1:6 (KJV) LIFE ILLUSTRATION A relay race is not won by the runner who starts fastest. The baton must be carried faithfully from one runner to another and eventually across the finish line. A strong beginning is valuable. But the race is completed at the finish. Likewise, do not be satisfied that you once served God faithfully. Ask yourself: “Am I still faithful today?” SELF-EVALUATION If my journey ended today, would I be satisfied with how I have walked with God? Have I allowed anything to weaken my relationship with Christ? Am I still obeying God in the areas where I once obeyed Him? Is there any compromise I need to remove from my life? What must I do now to ensure that I finish well? CALL TO DECISION Today, make a fresh commitment to God: I will finish well. I will guard my heart. I will keep the faith. I will continue in God's Word. I will resist compromise. I will remain faithful in my calling. I will not allow temporary difficulties to destroy my eternal purpose. And when my journey is complete, may I be able to say: “...I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith...” LITTLE WISDOM A good beginning is a testimony; a faithful ending is a legacy. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me grace to finish well. Help me to remain faithful through every season of my life. Keep my heart from compromise, pride, distraction and spiritual decline. Help me to continue in Your Word, obey Your commands and complete the assignment You have given me. Let my faith remain strong until the end. When my journey is complete, may I be able to say that I have finished my course and kept the faith. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 21st October 2026 DAY 294 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 286 THE BATTLE AGAINST GIVING UP “...And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not...” Galatians 6:9 (KJV) Yesterday, we entered the Gate of Endurance. Today, we confront one of the greatest enemies of endurance—the temptation to give up. Many people do not lose because they were incapable. They lose because they stopped too early. They prayed, but stopped praying. They started, but stopped pursuing. They believed, but stopped believing. They were faithful, but became weary. Sometimes the greatest victory is only one more step beyond the point where you feel like quitting. BIBLE PASSAGE: Galatians 6:7–10 Paul gives us a powerful instruction: “...And let us not be weary in well doing…” Notice that Scripture does not say you will never become weary. It says do not allow weariness to make you stop doing what is right. There is a difference between being tired and giving up. You may be tired and still continue. You may cry and still continue. You may be disappointed and still continue. You may not understand and still continue. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO GIVE UP? To give up is to abandon a righteous pursuit because of difficulty, delay, disappointment, opposition or weariness. Giving up says: “It is no longer worth it.” Faith says: “God is still worth trusting.” Giving up looks at the present difficulty. Faith remembers the future promise. WHY PEOPLE GIVE UP 1. THEY BECOME WEARY Sometimes the problem is not unbelief but exhaustion. That is why Isaiah says: “...But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength…” Isaiah 40:31 (KJV) When your strength is failing, do not abandon God. Wait upon Him. 2. THEY DO NOT SEE QUICK RESULTS We live in a world that wants immediate results. But God's processes often require patience. Abraham waited. Joseph waited. David waited. Hannah waited. Your waiting season does not mean your story has ended. 3. THEY LISTEN TO THE WRONG VOICES Some people quit because someone told them: “It cannot happen.” But the voice of man is not greater than the Word of God. You must know what God has said concerning you. 4. THEY COMPARE THEMSELVES WITH OTHERS Comparison can make your journey look unsuccessful. But God did not call you to live another person's assignment. Stay faithful to your own race. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES: ELISHA DID NOT GIVE UP When Elijah was about to be taken away, Elisha refused to leave him. Three times Elijah told him to stay behind. But Elisha answered: “...As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee...” 2 Kings 2:2 Kjv His persistence positioned him for what God had prepared for him. THE BLIND MAN WHO CRIED OUT TO JESUS Bartimaeus cried: “...Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me...” Mark 10:47 (KJV) People tried to silence him. But he cried even more. He refused to give up until Jesus called him. His persistence brought him into his miracle. PAUL Paul endured persecution, imprisonment, beatings, rejection and hardship. Yet he continued his assignment. Near the end of his life, he could say: “...I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith...” 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV) He did not merely start. He finished. HOW TO OVERCOME THE BATTLE AGAINST GIVING UP 1. REMEMBER GOD'S PROMISE When your feelings tell you to stop, return to God's Word. “...For the vision is yet for an appointed time… though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come...” Habakkuk 2:3 (KJV) 2. TAKE THE NEXT STEP You do not have to know every step of the journey. "...By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went..." Hebrew 11:8 Sometimes faith means taking the next step. 3. REST WITHOUT QUITTING Being tired does not mean you have failed. "...And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat..." Mark 6:31 Rest when necessary. Pray. Recover. Then continue. 4. REMEMBER WHAT GOD HAS ALREADY DONE Your previous victories are evidence of God's faithfulness. "...David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee..." 2 Samuel 17:37 Do not let today's difficulty erase yesterday's testimony. 5. KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS “...Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…” Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) Jesus did not abandon His assignment halfway. He finished what the Father gave Him to do. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Christianity is not merely about starting the race. It is about finishing faithfully. Jesus said: “...But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved....” Matthew 24:13 (KJV) Your goal should not simply be: “I started with Christ.” Your goal should be: “I remained faithful to Christ.” CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus faced the cross knowing the suffering that awaited Him. Yet He prayed: “...Not my will, but thine, be done...” Luke 22:42 (KJV) He endured the cross and completed His mission. Because Christ finished His work, you can receive grace to finish yours. When you feel like giving up, look again at Calvary. The cross reminds us: Some victories require endurance before they produce celebration. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A runner may become exhausted near the finish line. The pain increases. The body becomes weak. The temptation is to stop. But sometimes the finish line is much closer than the runner realizes. If he stops, he may never know how close he was. Beloved, you may be closer than you think. Do not abandon the race because you are tired near the finish line. Keep moving. Keep believing. Keep obeying. SELF-EVALUATION What area of my life am I tempted to give up on? Have I confused weariness with failure? Am I allowing delay to weaken my faith? Whose voice am I listening to—God's Word or people's opinions? What is the next faithful step I need to take? CALL TO DECISION Today, make this declaration: I WILL NOT GIVE UP. I will not abandon my faith. I will not abandon my calling. I will not abandon righteous obedience. I will not stop praying because the answer is delayed. I will not stop believing because the journey is difficult. By the grace of God, I will finish well. LITTLE WISDOM Do not quit in the chapter that was written to prepare you for the testimony of the next chapter. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, strengthen me whenever I become weary. Deliver me from the spirit of giving up. When I cannot see the result, help me to trust Your process. When I am tired, renew my strength. When people discourage me, let Your Word strengthen my heart. Give me grace to continue praying, obeying, believing and serving until I finish my course. I receive strength to endure and grace to finish well. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 20th October 2026 DAY 293 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 285 THE GATE OF ENDURANCE KEY SCRIPTURE “...For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise...” Hebrews 10:36 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the battle against worry. Today, we enter another important gate on the journey of faith—the Gate of Endurance. Many people can begin well. Many can pray when everything is working. Many can believe when the answer comes quickly. But the real test of faith often comes when you have done what God asked, yet the result has not appeared. That is where endurance becomes necessary. BIBLE PASSAGE: Hebrews 10:35–39 The Scripture says: “...Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward...” Hebrews 10:35 (KJV) Endurance means remaining faithful when the journey is longer than expected. It means continuing when you are tired. It means standing when others are turning back. It means refusing to abandon God's promise because the fulfillment is delayed. WHAT IS ENDURANCE? Endurance is the grace to continue doing what is right despite difficulty, delay, opposition, disappointment or pressure. Endurance says: “I may be tired, but I will not quit.” “I may not understand, but I will still trust God.” “The promise has not yet appeared, but I will not abandon the Promiser.” WHY ENDURANCE IS NECESSARY 1. SOME PROMISES REQUIRE WAITING Abraham received God's promise, but he had to wait. “...And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise...” Hebrews 6:15 (KJV) The delay did not mean that God had forgotten him. The waiting was part of his journey. 2. ENDURANCE PROVES THE QUALITY OF YOUR FAITH Anyone can rejoice when everything is easy. Endurance reveals whether your commitment to God depends on blessings or on your relationship with Him. Job declared: “...Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him...” Job 13:15 (KJV) Job's faith survived his circumstances. 3. ENDURANCE PRODUCES MATURITY James says: “...Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience...” James 1:3 (KJV) Some things cannot be developed instantly. Character is developed through process. Strength is developed through resistance. Endurance is developed through continuing. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES JOSEPH Joseph received dreams of greatness, but the road to their fulfilment included betrayal, slavery and imprisonment. He went from the pit to Potiphar's house, from Potiphar's house to prison, and eventually from prison to the palace. The process was painful, but Joseph did not abandon God. The prison was not the end of Joseph's story. DAVID David was anointed king, but he spent years running from Saul. The anointing came before the throne. The promise came before the fulfilment. David had to endure the process. Psalm 105:19, captures the truth that God's promise may come before its fulfilment, and the waiting period tests our faith and patience. "...Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him...” David was anointed king in 1 Samuel 16:13, but he endured years of hardship before becoming king over Israel in 2 Samuel 5:3–4. His experience teaches you that being anointed does not mean you will escape the process; you must remain faithful until God's appointed time. JESUS CHRIST Jesus endured the cross because of the joy that was set before Him. “...Who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame…” Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) If Christ endured for the purpose God had placed before Him, you must also learn to endure faithfully in your own assignment. HOW TO WALK IN ENDURANCE 1. KEEP YOUR EYES ON CHRIST “...Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…” Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) Do not measure your journey only by your circumstances. Look at Jesus. 2. REMEMBER WHY YOU STARTED When the journey becomes difficult, remember the purpose God gave you. A temporary struggle should not make you abandon a divine assignment. 3. DO NOT COMPARE YOUR JOURNEY Someone else's timing is not your timing. Another person's testimony does not mean that God has forgotten you. Stay in your lane. Stay with God. 4. KEEP DOING WHAT IS RIGHT “...And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not...” Galatians 6:9 (KJV) Your responsibility is faithfulness. God determines the season of harvest. 5. DRAW STRENGTH FROM GOD Endurance is not merely human stubbornness. It is strength received from God to continue faithfully. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY The Christian life is not a race of speed but a race of endurance. “...Let us run with patience the race that is set before us...” Hebrews 12:1 (KJV) God is not only interested in how you start. He wants you to finish well. Paul declared: “...I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith...” 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV) The goal is not merely to begin with Christ. The goal is to remain faithful to the end. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus endured rejection, betrayal, false accusations, suffering and the cross. He did not turn back. He completed the work the Father gave Him. Therefore, when your journey becomes difficult, remember: Christ understands endurance. And He gives grace to those who continue with Him. “...For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted...” Hebrews 2:18 (KJV) LIFE ILLUSTRATION A farmer does not plant a seed today and expect a harvest tomorrow. He plants. He waters. He waits. He weeds. He continues. Some days he sees nothing. But underneath the soil, something is happening. In the same way, there are seasons in your life when you may see little evidence of progress. Do not conclude that nothing is happening simply because you cannot see it. Keep obeying. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep enduring. The harvest has its appointed time. SELF-EVALUATION What situation is testing my endurance right now? Am I tempted to quit because the answer is delayed? Have I allowed another person's progress to discourage me? Am I still doing what God has commanded me to do? What can I learn from Joseph, David or Job about remaining faithful? CALL TO DECISION Today, make a decision: I will not quit. I will not abandon my faith because of delay. I will not compromise because the journey is difficult. I will not throw away my confidence because I cannot yet see the promise. I will continue to obey God. I will continue to pray. I will continue to believe. I will continue to serve. I will endure until God's purpose is fulfilled. LITTLE WISDOM Delay is not always denial; sometimes it is the classroom where endurance is developed. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me grace to endure. When I am tired, strengthen me. When I am discouraged, encourage me. When the answer is delayed, help me to continue trusting You. Keep me from giving up, compromising or turning back. Help me to remain faithful until I receive what You have ordained for me. Let me finish my race well and keep the faith until the end. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 19th October 2026 DAY 292 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 284 THE BATTLE AGAINST WORRY KEY SCRIPTURE “...Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on...” Matthew 6:25 (KJV) Yesterday, we entered the Gate of Divine Peace. Today, we confront one of the greatest enemies that tries to drive us out of that gate—worry. Worry keeps asking questions that faith has already surrendered to God. What will happen? What if I fail? What if I lose it? What if things do not work out? What will tomorrow bring? Worry makes us suffer today over a future that belongs to God. BIBLE PASSAGE: Matthew 6:25–34 Jesus said: “...Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?...” Matthew 6:27 (KJV) Worry consumes energy but produces no solution. It occupies the mind without changing the situation. That is why Jesus teaches us to trust the Father rather than allow worry to become our master. WHAT IS WORRY? Worry is the continual mental rehearsal of problems, possibilities and fears that we cannot control. There is a difference between responsibility and worry. Responsibility says: “What should I do?” Worry says: “What if everything goes wrong?” Responsibility takes appropriate action. Worry repeatedly imagines negative outcomes without producing faith or a solution. God wants you to be responsible, but He does not want you to live under the bondage of worry. WHY WORRY IS A BATTLE 1. WORRY STEALS TODAY Jesus said: “...Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself...” Matthew 6:34 (KJV) Tomorrow has its own challenges. Do not spend today's strength fighting tomorrow's battles. 2. WORRY DOES NOT CHANGE THE SITUATION Jesus asked: “...Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?...” Matt.6:27 Kjv Worry cannot add to your life. It cannot change yesterday. It cannot control tomorrow. But prayer can place tomorrow in God's hands. 3. WORRY CAN HIDE GOD'S FAITHFULNESS When worry becomes dominant, you begin to focus on what you lack instead of remembering what God has already done. Israel saw the Red Sea, but forgot the God who had brought them out of Egypt. Fear made them remember Pharaoh more than they remembered God. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES: THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL When Israel stood before the Red Sea, they became afraid. Moses told them: “...Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD...” Exodus 14:13 (KJV) The Red Sea was real. Pharaoh was real. But God's power was greater. Sometimes God allows you to reach a place where human strength cannot help you so that you will learn to trust His strength. HANNAH Hannah carried the burden of barrenness for years. But when she poured out her heart before God, something changed. “...And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore...” 1 Samuel 1:10 (KJV) Later, the Bible says: “...So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad...” 1 Samuel 1:18 (KJV) Her circumstances had not yet changed. But her heart had changed because she had placed the matter in God's hands. That is a powerful lesson: Sometimes peace comes before the answer. HOW TO DEFEAT WORRY 1. TURN WORRY INTO PRAYER “...Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God...” Philippians 4:6 When worry knocks, pray. When fear speaks, pray. When you do not know what to do, pray. 2. REMEMBER WHAT GOD HAS DONE David faced Goliath by remembering God's previous faithfulness. “...The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine...” 1 Samuel 17:37 (KJV) Your history with God should strengthen your faith for your future with God. 3. DO WHAT GOD HAS GIVEN YOU TO DO Do not use worry as an excuse for inaction. Pray. Plan. Work. Obey. Then leave the outcome in God's hands. 4. TRUST GOD WITH TOMORROW You do not have enough information to understand everything about tomorrow. But God does. “...For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD…” Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) You can trust the God who already knows what you have not yet seen. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY The believer has a Father who knows what he needs. Jesus said: “...For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things...” Matthew 6:32 (KJV) You are not abandoned. You are not forgotten. You are not facing tomorrow alone. Your heavenly Father knows. Therefore, work faithfully, pray continually and trust completely. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus did not promise that we would never face difficult circumstances. He promised His presence. “...I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee...” Hebrews 13:5 (KJV) That promise is greater than many of the things we worry about. If God is with you, you can face what comes. If God has not abandoned you, you have no reason to abandon your faith. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A farmer plants a seed and covers it with soil. For several days, nothing appears to happen. If he keeps digging up the seed every morning to check whether it is growing, he may destroy what he planted. He must do his part and then allow the process to continue. Many people do something similar with God's promises. They pray today, then worry tomorrow. They surrender the matter to God, then take it back through fear. Faith plants the seed and trusts God with the process. SELF-EVALUATION What am I continually worrying about? Have I genuinely surrendered this matter to God? Am I praying about my concerns or merely thinking about them? Am I doing what God expects me to do while trusting Him with the result? What past testimony of God's faithfulness can strengthen my faith today? CALL TO DECISION Today, refuse to make worry your lifestyle. Do what is right. Do what you can. Pray about what you cannot control. And leave the outcome in the hands of God. You do not have to carry tomorrow today. The God who kept you yesterday is still God today, and He will remain God tomorrow. LITTLE WISDOM Worry carries tomorrow's burden without tomorrow's grace; faith waits for God's grace for each day. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I surrender every worry in my heart to You. Forgive me for carrying burdens You have asked me to give to You. Help me to pray instead of worrying, trust instead of fearing, and obey instead of doubting. Give me grace to do my part faithfully and leave the results in Your hands. Let Your peace rule my heart and mind. I refuse to allow worry to control my life. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 18th October 2026 DAY 291 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 283 THE GATE OF DIVINE PEACE “...Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee...” Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) Yesterday, we dealt with the battle against anxiety. Today, we move from the battle to the gate that God wants us to enter—the Gate of Divine Peace. Peace is not merely the absence of trouble. Divine peace is the presence of God ruling your heart even when circumstances are not yet settled. You may be surrounded by storms and still possess peace. BIBLE PASSAGE; Philippians 4:6–9 The Bible says: “...And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus...” Philippians 4:7 (KJV) Notice the expression “shall keep.” God's peace acts like a guard. It guards your heart from being overwhelmed and your mind from being controlled by fear. WHAT IS DIVINE PEACE? Divine peace is the inner stability that comes from trusting God, knowing that He is sovereign, faithful and present. It does not mean that everything around you is perfect. It means that your heart is settled because your confidence is in God. There is a difference between peace because there is no problem and peace because God is with you in the problem. The first depends on circumstances. The second depends on Christ. JESUS CHRIST: OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE Jesus demonstrated divine peace even in the midst of a storm. While the disciples were terrified, Jesus was asleep in the ship. “...And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow...” Mark 4:38 (KJV) The storm was real. The waves were real. The danger appeared real. But Jesus was not controlled by the storm. When they awakened Him, He arose and said: “...Peace, be still...” Mark 4:39 (KJV) The One who carried peace within Him spoke peace into His surroundings. This is the peace Christ wants to establish in the life of every believer. THE SECRET OF DIVINE PEACE 1. KEEP YOUR MIND ON GOD “...Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee...” Isaiah 26:3 What dominates your mind will often determine what dominates your emotions. If your mind is continually fixed on problems, fear will grow. If your mind is fixed on God, faith will grow. 2. TRUST GOD The same verse says: “...Because he trusteth in thee...” Peace grows where trust grows. When you truly believe that God knows what He is doing, you do not have to understand everything before you remain peaceful. 3. PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING Paul says: “...Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God...” Philippians 4:6 Prayer is one of God's appointed pathways from anxiety to peace. 4. OBEY GOD'S WORD Peace is not produced merely by positive thinking. It is connected to walking in God's ways. “...Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them...” Psalm 119:165 5. REFUSE TO REHEARSE FEAR You cannot continually replay fearful possibilities and expect your heart to remain peaceful. “...For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) When fearful thoughts come, answer them with God's Word. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Peace is not merely something God gives. Christ Himself is our peace. “...For he is our peace…” Ephesians 2:14 (KJV) This means that our peace is not ultimately dependent upon circumstances. Our peace is found in a Person. Jesus Christ. When Christ is ruling your heart, circumstances do not have the final authority over your inner life. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE At the cross, Christ defeated sin, Satan and the power of separation from God. Because we have been reconciled to God through Christ, we can approach God with confidence and rest in His presence. Jesus said: “...Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you...” John 14:27 (KJV) Notice that Jesus did not merely say, “I give you peace.” He said: “...My peace...” The peace He gives is the peace that belongs to Him. Therefore, the believer does not have to manufacture peace. We receive it from Christ and learn to walk in it. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A child may sleep peacefully during a storm because his father is in the house. The child may not understand the weather. He may not know how strong the wind is. But he knows one thing: “My father is here.” That knowledge gives him rest. Beloved, there will be storms you cannot explain. There will be situations you cannot control. But if you know that your heavenly Father is with you, you can rest. God's presence is greater than your uncertainty. SELF-EVALUATION Is my peace dependent on circumstances or on Christ? What currently occupies my mind more—God's promises or my problems? Do I truly trust God with what I cannot control? Am I taking my worries to God in prayer? What decision do I need to surrender to God today so that His peace can rule my heart? CALL TO DECISION Today, enter the Gate of Divine Peace. Stop trying to control everything. Stop carrying tomorrow before tomorrow arrives. Stop allowing circumstances to determine the condition of your heart. Give your concerns to Christ. Fix your mind on God. Trust His Word. Obey His instructions. And let His peace rule within you. You may not be able to control the storm, but you can choose who controls your heart in the storm. LITTLE WISDOM When your mind is stayed on God, your heart can remain at rest even when your circumstances are unsettled. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, thank You because You are the God of peace. I surrender every troubled thought, fear and uncertainty to You. Keep my heart and mind in perfect peace. Teach me to trust You completely, even when I do not understand what You are doing. Let the peace of Christ rule in my heart, my family, my work and every area of my life. I receive Your peace today, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 17th October 2026 DAY 290 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 282 THE BATTLE AGAINST ANXIETY “...Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you...” 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV) Yesterday, we considered the battle against self-reliance and learned that we must trust God completely. Today, we move to another battle that often attacks the heart when we struggle to trust God fully—the battle against anxiety. Anxiety makes tomorrow look bigger than God, makes problems appear stronger than His promises, and makes the heart suffer over things that have not yet happened. But God does not want His children to live under the weight of constant worry. BIBLE PASSAGE Jesus repeatedly told His disciples: “...Take no thought for your life…” “...Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?...” “...Take therefore no thought for the morrow…” Matthew 6:25, 27, 34 (KJV) Jesus was not teaching irresponsibility. He was teaching His followers not to allow tomorrow's uncertainties to steal today's peace. WHAT IS ANXIETY? Anxiety is a state of excessive worry, fear, or inner distress about what may happen or what we may not be able to control. Anxiety asks: “What if everything goes wrong?” Faith asks: “What if God is already ahead of me?” Anxiety focuses on the problem. Faith focuses on the God who is greater than the problem. THE BATTLE OF THE MIND Many battles begin in the mind before they appear in our circumstances. You may not have lost anything, yet your mind tells you that you will lose everything. You may not be sick, yet fear tells you something terrible will happen. You may not have failed, yet anxiety tells you that you will fail. You may not have reached tomorrow, yet you are already suffering because of tomorrow. This is why Scripture says: “...For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind...” 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) God wants your mind governed by His truth, not controlled by fear. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES 1. Martha Was Anxious About Many Things Jesus told Martha: “...Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful…” Luke 10:41–42 (KJV) Her problem was not that she was serving. Her problem was that her heart had become troubled by many things. Sometimes the issue is not the number of responsibilities we have, but the number of worries we carry. 2. David Learned to Trust God. David faced enemies, danger and uncertainty, yet he declared: “...What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee...” Psalm 56:3 (KJV) Notice that David did not say, “I will never be afraid.” He said, “When I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” Faith does not mean that you never feel pressure. Faith means that pressure does not become your master. 3. Elijah Became Discouraged After great victory on Mount Carmel, Elijah became afraid and ran for his life. This teaches you that even after spiritual victories, a person can become emotionally exhausted and overwhelmed. God did not abandon Elijah. God ministered to him, restored him and gave him fresh direction. Your present emotional struggle does not mean God has left you. HOW TO OVERCOME ANXIETY 1. TAKE YOUR CARE TO GOD “...Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you...” 1 Peter 5:7 Do not carry what God has invited you to cast upon Him. 2. PRAY INSTEAD OF WORRYING “...Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God...” Philippians 4:6 Prayer transfers the burden from your heart into God's hands. 3. REMEMBER GOD'S FAITHFULNESS Remember what God has already done. “...I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old...” Psalm 77:11 The God who helped you yesterday has not become powerless today. “...It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness...” Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV) 4. STOP LIVING IN TOMORROW Jesus said: “...Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof...” Matthew 6:34 Deal with today's responsibility with today's grace. 5. FEED YOUR MIND WITH GOD'S WORD Do not allow your mind to feed continually on bad news, fearful thoughts and imaginary disasters. "...Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord..." Col. 3:16 Fill your heart with God's promises. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY The believer is not called to live under the dominion of anxiety. Christ gives us access to the peace of God. “...And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus...” Philippians 4:7 (KJV) The peace of God does not always mean that the storm has disappeared. Sometimes it means that Christ has become greater than the storm inside you. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Himself said: “...These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world...” John 16:33 (KJV) Your confidence is not in a trouble-free life. Your confidence is in a victorious Christ. Therefore, you can face tomorrow without surrendering today's peace. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A man may sit in a room at night imagining that something terrible is happening outside. His heart races, his thoughts multiply, and he becomes afraid. Then he turns on the light and discovers that most of what frightened him existed only in his imagination. Anxiety often does something similar. It creates tomorrow's problems in today's mind. But faith turns on the light of God's Word and says: “God is with me. God cares for me. God will help me. I will trust Him” SELF-EVALUATION What am I worrying about that I have not surrendered to God? Am I allowing tomorrow to steal today's peace? Do I pray about my concerns or only think about them? What has God done for me in the past that I need to remember today? Am I feeding my mind more with fear or with God's Word? CALL TO DECISION Today, surrender your anxiety to Jesus Christ. Stop rehearsing the problem and start remembering the Promise-Keeper. You may not know what tomorrow will bring, but you know Who holds tomorrow. Trust Him. Pray. Obey His Word. And refuse to let anxiety become the lord of your heart. LITTLE WISDOM Anxiety magnifies tomorrow's problems; faith magnifies today's God. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I surrender every worry, fear and anxiety in my heart to You. Help me to trust You completely. Give me grace to stop worrying about what I cannot control and faith to obey You in what I can do. Let Your peace guard my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. I receive Your strength, Your peace and Your assurance today. In Jesus' name. Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 16th October 2026 DAY 289 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 281 THE GATE OF COMPLETE TRUST — THE BATTLE AGAINST SELF-RELIANCE “...Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding...” Proverbs 3:5, KJV Yesterday, we considered the battle against unbelief. Today, we come to another important battle: the battle against self-reliance. Many people trust God until the situation becomes difficult. Then they begin to depend completely on their own wisdom, connections, money, experience or strength. Complete trust means placing every area of your life in God's hands—not only the areas you cannot control. BIBLE PASSAGE “....Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding...” Proverbs 3:5, KJV God does not say, “Trust Me with some of your heart.” He says: “With all thine heart.” God wants complete trust. WHAT IS COMPLETE TRUST? Complete trust is the decision to rely on God's character, wisdom and faithfulness even when you do not understand His timing or methods. It says: “I do not know everything, but God does.” “I cannot see the whole road, but God can.” “I may not understand what He is doing, but I know He is faithful.” Trust does not mean refusing to think or plan. It means refusing to make your own understanding greater than God's wisdom. THE DANGER OF SELF-RELIANCE Self-reliance says: “I can handle this myself.” “I know what is best.” “I don't need to wait for God.” But Scripture warns: “...There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death...” Proverbs 14:12, KJV What looks right may not always be God's way. That is why we need His direction. ABRAHAM HAD TO TRUST GOD God called Abraham to leave his country without giving him the complete details of the destination. “...Get thee out of thy country... unto a land that I will shew thee...” Genesis 12:1, KJV Abraham had to move before he knew everything. That is trust. Sometimes God gives you the next step before He reveals the entire journey. HOW TO WALK IN COMPLETE TRUST 1. TRUST GOD'S CHARACTER God is faithful even when circumstances are difficult. “...God is faithful...” 1 Corinthians 1:9, KJV 2. STOP TRYING TO CONTROL EVERYTHING Some things are beyond your control. Give them to God. “...Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you...” 1 Peter 5:7, KJV 3. PRAY BEFORE MAKING MAJOR DECISIONS Do not make important decisions simply because they appear convenient. Seek God. “...Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths...” Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV) 4. OBEY THE NEXT INSTRUCTION You may not know everything about tomorrow. But you can obey God today. “...If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land...” Isaiah 1:19 (KJV) 5. TRUST GOD'S TIMING Delay does not mean denial. Sometimes God is preparing you while you are waiting for the answer. “...He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end...” Ecclesiastes 3:11 (KJV) THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY We are encouraged to cast our cares upon God because He cares for us. “...Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you...” 1 Peter 5:7, KJV You do not have to carry tomorrow's burden today. Trust God with what you cannot control. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus completely trusted the Father. Even in Gethsemane, when suffering was before Him, He prayed: “...Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done...” Luke 22:42, KJV Complete trust is demonstrated when you can surrender your will to God's will. GOD CAN BE TRUSTED EVEN WHEN YOU CANNOT SEE A child may not understand why a parent refuses something dangerous. The child sees only the denial. The parent sees what the child cannot see. In the same way, there are times when God says wait, no, or not yet. You may not understand. But God sees what you cannot see. Trust His wisdom. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A passenger sitting inside an aeroplane does not need to understand how every part of the aircraft works before trusting the pilot. The passenger simply needs confidence that the pilot knows how to fly. In the same way, you do not need to understand every detail of your journey before trusting God. He knows the way. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: Do I truly trust God with my future? What area of my life am I struggling to surrender? Am I depending more on my understanding than God's Word? Do I trust God even when He says wait? Am I trying to control something that I should have surrendered to God? Can I honestly say, “Not my will, but thine, be done”? CALL TO DECISION Today, I choose complete trust. I will trust God with my future. I will trust Him with my family. I will trust Him with my plans. I will trust Him with my unanswered questions. I will not allow fear or self-reliance to control my decisions. When I understand, I will trust. When I do not understand, I will still trust. When God says wait, I will wait. When God says move, I will move. My life is safer in God's hands than in my own. LITTLE WISDOM Complete trust begins where self-reliance ends. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, teach me to trust You completely. Forgive me for the times I have depended more on my own understanding than on Your wisdom. Help me to surrender my plans, fears, future and unanswered questions to You. When I do not understand Your ways, help me to trust Your character. Give me grace to wait when You say wait and courage to move when You say move. Let my heart rest in the assurance that You care for me. May my life continually declare: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart.” In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written by: Beloved in Christ Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 14th October 2026 DAY 287 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 279 THE GATE OF VICTORY THROUGH THE WORD “...So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God...” Romans 10:17, KJV Yesterday, we considered the battle against Satan's lies. Today, we come to the gate through which the believer can stand firmly in truth and overcome: the Word of God. The Word of God is not merely information to be read. It is truth to be believed, authority to be obeyed and a weapon to be used. A believer who neglects God's Word becomes vulnerable to deception, temptation, fear and confusion. But when the Word of God fills your heart, it gives you a foundation for victory. BIBLE PASSAGE “...For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword...” Hebrews 4:12, KJV God's Word is living and powerful. It exposes what is wrong. It corrects what needs correction. It strengthens weak faith. It reveals God's will. It equips the believer to stand. WHAT DOES VICTORY THROUGH THE WORD MEAN? Victory through the Word means allowing God's truth to govern your thoughts, decisions, conduct and responses. It means that when temptation says “Do it,” God's Word says “Resist.” When fear says “You cannot,” God's Word says “Trust God.” When Satan says “You are finished,” God's Word reminds you of God's grace. When circumstances say “Give up,” God's Word says “Do not faint.” The Word gives you a higher standard than your feelings. JESUS USED THE WORD TO DEFEAT TEMPTATION When Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus repeatedly answered: “...It is written...” Matthew 4:4, KJV Jesus did not allow Satan's suggestions to become His decisions. He stood on what God had already said. This teaches you an important principle: You cannot effectively fight spiritual battles with an empty heart. Fill your heart with God's Word. THE WORD BUILDS FAITH “...So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God...” Romans 10:17, KJV Faith becomes stronger as you continually hear and receive God's Word. If you constantly feed your mind with fear, fear will grow. If you continually feed your spirit with God's truth, faith will grow. Be careful what you allow to become the dominant voice in your heart. HOW TO WALK IN VICTORY THROUGH THE WORD 1. READ THE WORD Do not depend only on what others tell you about Scripture. "...These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so...." Acts 17:11 Read it yourself. 2. STUDY THE WORD Seek to understand what God is saying. “...Study to shew thyself approved unto God...” 2 Timothy 2:15, KJV 3. MEDITATE ON THE WORD Allow God's truth to remain in your heart beyond the moment of reading. “...But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night...” Psalm 1:2, KJV 4. SPEAK THE WORD When appropriate, declare God's truth over your situation. “...We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak...” 2 Cor. 4:13, KJV Do not allow fear to have the final confession. 5. OBEY THE WORD Knowledge without obedience does not produce spiritual victory. “...But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only...” James 1:22, KJV THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY The Word of Christ must dwell richly within us. “...Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom...” Col. 3:16, KJV The goal is not merely to have a Bible in your hand. The goal is to have God's truth established in your heart. When the Word lives in you, it influences how you think, speak and live. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ is Himself the Word made flesh. “...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us...” John 1:14, KJV Therefore, loving the Word must lead us to loving Christ. The Scriptures point us to Him. Our victory is not in quoting verses mechanically. Our victory is in trusting and obeying the Christ revealed through God's Word. DO NOT FIGHT SPIRITUAL BATTLES WITH HUMAN WISDOM ALONE Human wisdom has its place, but spiritual battles require spiritual truth. "...For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;...” 2 Cor. 10:5 When temptation comes, know what God has said. When confusion comes, return to Scripture. When fear comes, remember God's promises. When deception comes, compare it with the Word. When discouragement comes, allow Scripture to renew your hope. “...And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:...” Ephesians 6:17 (KJV) The Word of God must remain your foundation. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A building may look beautiful on the outside, but its stability depends greatly on its foundation. When strong winds come, the foundation is tested. In the same way, a believer's spiritual foundation is revealed when trials come. If God's Word is deeply established in you, you can remain standing when circumstances change. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: How much time do I spend reading God's Word? Do I study Scripture or only listen to others teach it? Do I remember God's Word when temptation comes? Am I obeying what I already know? What Scripture is currently strengthening my faith? Is God's Word truly governing my decisions? CALL TO DECISION Today, I choose to build my life on God's Word. I will read it. I will study it. I will meditate upon it. I will believe it. I will speak it. I will obey it. When Satan lies, I will stand on truth. When temptation comes, I will remember what is written. When fear comes, I will trust God's promises. When circumstances change, I will remain established in Christ. God's Word will be my foundation and my guide. LITTLE WISDOM A believer who is deeply rooted in God's Word may be shaken by circumstances, but will not easily be moved from the truth. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me a deeper hunger for Your Word. Help me to read it, understand it, meditate upon it and obey it. Let Your Word become deeply rooted in my heart. When temptation comes, remind me of what is written. When fear comes, strengthen my faith through Your promises. When Satan brings lies, help me recognise and reject them. Let Your Word guide my decisions, correct my mistakes and strengthen my walk with Christ. Make me a believer who does not merely hear Your Word but lives by it. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 13th October 2026 DAY 286 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 278 THE BATTLE AGAINST SATAN'S LIES “...he is a liar, and the father of it...” John 8:44 Yesterday, we considered the gate of spiritual authority. Today, we come to another important battle: the battle against Satan's lies. Satan's greatest weapon is not always persecution. Sometimes it is deception. If he can make you believe a lie, he can influence your decisions. He may tell you that God does not love you, that you cannot change, that sin has no consequences, or that your situation is hopeless. But the believer must learn to distinguish the voice of truth from the voice of deception. BIBLE PASSAGE “...And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free...” John 8:32, KJV Truth brings freedom. A lie brings bondage. This is why Satan continually attacks the mind. If he can control what you believe, he can influence how you live. WHAT IS A LIE? A lie is a false statement presented as truth. Satan has been using deception from the beginning. In the Garden of Eden, he questioned God's Word and persuaded Eve to believe something contrary to what God had commanded. “...Yea, hath God said...?” Genesis 3:1, KJV The battle began with a question about God's Word. SATAN STILL USES THE SAME STRATEGY Satan may whisper: “God will not mind.” “Everybody is doing it.” “You can sin and escape the consequences.” “You are too far gone for God to forgive you.” “There is no need to obey completely.” But God's Word remains the standard of truth. Never allow a voice to become greater than Scripture. HOW TO RECOGNISE SATAN'S LIES 1. TEST EVERYTHING BY GOD'S WORD Do not accept every thought simply because it sounds convincing. “...Prove all things; hold fast that which is good...” 1 Thessalonians 5:21, KJV 2. KNOW THE TRUTH Ignorance of Scripture makes deception easier. "...Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices..." 2 Cor. 2:11 The more you know God's Word, the easier it becomes to recognise what contradicts it. 3. WATCH YOUR THOUGHTS Not every thought deserves to be accepted. “...bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ...” 2 Corinthians 10:5, KJV 4. DO NOT NEGOTIATE WITH THE LIE Jesus did not debate Satan during His temptation. He answered repeatedly: “...It is written...” Matthew 4:4, KJV When God's Word is clear, stand on it. 5. WALK IN TRUTH Knowing truth is not enough. You must live by it. Jesus said, “...And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free...” John 8:32 (KJV) However, knowing the truth must lead to obedience. Jesus also said, “...If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them...” John 13:17 (KJV) Truth becomes powerful in your life when you believe it, obey it, and allow it to govern your daily conduct. The Bible declares, “...But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves...” James 1:22 (KJV) Therefore, do not merely listen to the truth, preach the truth, or teach the truth. Practise the truth. Let it influence your decisions, relationships, character, and obedience to God. John testified, “...I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth...” 3 John 1:4 (KJV) Remember: Truth that remains in your knowledge but never influences your conduct has not yet accomplished its intended purpose in your life. You demonstrate that you truly know God's truth when you allow it to direct how you live. JESUS AND THE BATTLE AGAINST SATAN'S LIES When Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he tried to manipulate circumstances and Scripture. But Jesus remained anchored in the Father's Word. “...It is written...” Matthew 4:7, KJV Jesus demonstrated that God's Word is the believer's defence against deception. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Believers are commanded to put on the armour of God. “...take the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked...” Ephesians 6:16, KJV Satan may throw thoughts of fear, doubt, accusation and temptation. But faith in God's truth can extinguish those fiery darts. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus is the truth. “...Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life...” John 14:6, KJV When Christ governs your mind, deception loses its authority. The closer you walk with Christ, the more clearly you can recognise what contradicts Him. DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR A thought can be strong and still be wrong. A feeling can be real and still be misleading. A popular opinion can be widely accepted and still contradict God's Word. Therefore, test every voice. Ask: Does this agree with Scripture? Does this lead me toward Christ or away from Him? Does this encourage obedience or compromise? Truth does not need to be popular to be true. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A counterfeit banknote may look almost identical to genuine money. The best way to identify the counterfeit is not to study every possible fake. It is to become very familiar with the genuine. The same principle applies spiritually. The more familiar you become with God's Word, the easier it becomes to recognise lies. Know the truth. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: Have I believed anything that contradicts God's Word? Do I sometimes allow my feelings to become my truth? Am I regularly studying Scripture? What lie has been troubling my mind recently? Am I testing what I hear against God's Word? Are my thoughts drawing me closer to Christ or away from Him? CALL TO DECISION Today, I choose truth over deception. I will not believe every voice that speaks into my mind. I will test every thought by God's Word. I will not allow Satan's lies to control my decisions. I will reject fear, condemnation, hopelessness and compromise. I will believe what God has said. I will stand on Scripture. I will bring my thoughts under the authority of Christ. God's Word will be my standard of truth. LITTLE WISDOM The best defence against Satan's lies is a mind that knows, believes and obeys God's truth. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every deception of Satan. Give me discernment to recognise every lie that contradicts Your Word. Help me to know Scripture, believe Your truth and reject every thought that leads me away from Christ. Guard my mind against fear, doubt, condemnation, temptation and deception. Give me grace to bring every thought into obedience to Christ. Let Your truth govern my mind, my words, my decisions and my life. May I never exchange the truth of God for the lies of the enemy. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 12th October 2026 DAY 285 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 277 THE GATE OF SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY — THE BATTLE AGAINST SPIRITUAL POWERLESSNESS “...Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy...” Luke 10:19, KJV Yesterday, we considered the battle against fear. Today, we come to another important battle: the battle to understand and exercise the spiritual authority Christ has given His people. Many believers know that Christ has saved them, but they do not understand the authority they have in Christ. They pray as though God is powerless. They face temptation as though they have no choice. They confront spiritual opposition as though Satan has the final authority. But the believer must understand this truth: Christ has not called you to live spiritually helpless. BIBLE PASSAGE “...And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils...” Mark 16:17 KJV The authority of the believer is not found in personality, position, wealth or human strength. It is found in the name of Jesus Christ. We do not overcome because we are strong. We overcome because Christ is Lord and had won the battles for us. WHAT IS SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY? Spiritual authority is the delegated authority given by God to believers through Jesus Christ to stand against sin, resist the devil, proclaim the Gospel and live under the rule of God. Jesus said: “...All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth...” Matthew 28:18, KJV Our authority flows from Christ. Therefore, spiritual authority is not an opportunity for pride. It is a responsibility to represent Christ faithfully. AUTHORITY IS NOT ARROGANCE A person exercising spiritual authority must remain submitted to God. James gives the order: “...Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you...” James 4:7, KJV Notice the order: Submit to God. Then: Resist the devil. True spiritual authority begins with submission to God. JESUS HAS GIVEN US AUTHORITY When Jesus sent His disciples out, He gave them authority. “...And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name...” Luke 10:17, KJV Notice their words: “Through thy name". The power was not theirs. The authority came through Jesus. Never replace dependence on Christ with confidence in yourself. HOW TO WALK IN SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY 1. SUBMIT YOURSELF TO GOD Authority begins with obedience. You cannot effectively resist the devil while deliberately walking in disobedience to God. "...Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you..." James 4:7 2. KNOW YOUR POSITION IN CHRIST You are not fighting for Christ's victory. You are standing in the victory Christ has already accomplished. “...Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ...” 1 Corinthians 15:57, KJV 3. USE GOD'S WORD Jesus answered Satan with Scripture during His temptation. “...It is written...” Matthew 4:4, KJV Know the Word. Believe the Word. Speak the Word. Live the Word. 4. RESIST THE DEVIL IN THE FAITH Do not cooperate with what God has commanded you to resist. “...Resist the devil, and he will flee from you...” James 4:7, KJV "..Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world..." 1 Peter 5:9 5. WALK IN HOLINESS Spiritual authority should never become an excuse for careless living. "...We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not..." 1 John 5:18 Your private life must agree with your public confession. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Believers are seated with Christ in a position of spiritual privilege. “...And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus...” Eph 2:6, KJV This does not make us equal with Christ. It reminds us that our relationship with Christ changes our spiritual position. We belong to Him. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus defeated Satan through His death and resurrection. “...And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it...” Col. 2:15, KJV Therefore, the believer's confidence is not in human ability. Our confidence is in the finished work of Jesus Christ. DO NOT LIVE BELOW YOUR SPIRITUAL POSITION A king's child who does not know his identity may live like a slave. In the same way, a believer who does not understand his position in Christ may live continually defeated by fear, temptation and spiritual intimidation. Know who you are in Christ. Know whose authority you represent. Know the Word of God. Then walk faithfully in what Christ has given you. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A police officer may be physically smaller than a speeding driver, but the driver can stop because the officer represents a higher authority. The officer's strength is not the source of the authority. The authority comes from the institution he represents. In the same way, our confidence is not in ourselves. We represent Jesus Christ. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: Do I understand my authority in Christ? Am I submitted to God? Am I resisting temptation or cooperating with it? Do I know enough of God's Word to stand when challenged? Am I depending on Christ or on my own strength? Does my lifestyle agree with my spiritual confession? CALL TO DECISION Today, I choose to walk in the authority Christ has given me. I will submit myself to God. I will resist the devil. I will stand on God's Word. I will not allow fear, temptation or spiritual intimidation to control me. I will not use spiritual authority for pride or personal glory. I will represent Jesus Christ faithfully. My confidence is not in myself. My confidence is in Christ and in His finished work. LITTLE WISDOM Spiritual authority is not the power to control people; it is the grace to stand under God's authority and represent Christ faithfully. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help me to understand and walk faithfully in the spiritual authority You have given me through Christ. Teach me to submit completely to You and resist every work of the enemy. Give me boldness to stand on Your Word and wisdom to exercise spiritual authority with humility. Deliver me from spiritual ignorance, fear and powerlessness. Let my life reflect the victory of Jesus Christ. Help me to remain holy, obedient and completely dependent on Christ. May I never use spiritual authority for pride, but always for Your glory. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written by: Beloved in Christ Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 11th October 2026 DAY 284 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 276 THE BATTLE AGAINST FEAR “...Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God...” Isaiah 41:10, KJV Yesterday, we considered the gate of bold faith. Today, we look directly at one of the enemies that bold faith must overcome: fear. Fear is a natural human response, but when fear controls your decisions, it can become a spiritual hindrance. Fear can make you abandon an assignment. Fear can make you avoid responsibility. Fear can make you compromise your convictions. Fear can make you see impossibility where God sees opportunity. God does not want fear to become the master of your life. BIBLE PASSAGE “...For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind...” 2 Timothy 1:7, KJV Paul did not tell Timothy that there would never be reasons to feel afraid. He reminded him that fear must not control the believer. God has given you power, love and a sound mind. WHAT IS FEAR? Fear is an emotional response to perceived danger, uncertainty, loss or threat. Fear can warn you about genuine danger, but it can also become excessive and prevent you from doing what God requires. Fear says: “What if something goes wrong?” “What will people say?” “What if I fail?” “What if I lose everything?” Faith says: “God is with me.” FEAR CAN BECOME A SNARE “...The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe...” Proverbs 29:25, KJV The fear of people can trap you. You may know what is right but refuse to do it because of people's opinions. You may know what God wants but choose what will make people happy. Never allow the approval of people to become more important than the approval of God. THE TEN SPIES AND THE BATTLE OF FEAR When the children of Israel saw the giants in Canaan, fear changed their interpretation of the situation. They said: “...We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we...” Numbers 13:31, KJV But Joshua and Caleb saw the same giants and believed God. “...The LORD is with us: fear them not...” Numbers 14:9, KJV The problem was not that the giants were imaginary. The problem was that Israel allowed the giants to become greater in their hearts than God. HOW TO OVERCOME FEAR 1. REMEMBER THAT GOD IS WITH YOU God's presence is greater than your circumstances. “...I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee...” Heb. 13:5, KJV 2. FEED YOUR FAITH WITH GOD'S WORD Fear grows when you continually listen to negative voices. Faith grows when you continually hear God's Word. “...So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God...” Rom. 10:17, KJV 3. DO NOT MAKE DECISIONS WHILE CONTROLLED BY FEAR Fear can make you choose safety over obedience. Pause. Pray. Seek God's direction. Then obey what God has revealed. 4. FACE THE NEXT STEP You do not have to know everything about tomorrow. You only need enough faith to obey God today. 5. REMEMBER GOD'S PAST FAITHFULNESS The God who helped you before has not changed. Remember His deliverances. Remember His provisions. Remember His answered prayers. Let yesterday's testimony strengthen today's faith. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Believers have not received the spirit of bondage to fear. “...For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption...” Romans 8:15, KJV You belong to God. Fear may speak, but fear does not have the final authority over your life. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus faced the greatest possible pressure in Gethsemane. Yet He surrendered completely to the Father's will. “...Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done...” Luke 22:42, KJV He did not allow suffering to make Him abandon His assignment. Christ conquered through obedience. His victory gives us confidence to face our own battles with faith. DO NOT LET FEAR WRITE YOUR STORY Fear may tell you to stop. Fear may tell you that you cannot succeed. Fear may tell you that the future is dangerous. But fear does not know the future. God does. Therefore, do not build your future around what you fear. Build it around what God has said. “...What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee...” Psalm 56:3, KJV LIFE ILLUSTRATION A person standing at the edge of a bridge may be afraid to cross. The bridge may look high. The water may look deep. But if the bridge has been properly built, the person's fear does not determine the strength of the bridge. In the same way, your fear does not determine God's ability. You may feel weak. You may feel uncertain. But God remains strong. Trust the One who is carrying you. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: What am I most afraid of? Has fear influenced any important decision in my life? Am I more afraid of people than I am of displeasing God? What instruction from God am I delaying because of fear? Do I remember what God has already done for me? Am I trusting God with my future? CALL TO DECISION Today, I refuse to be controlled by fear. I will not allow fear to determine my obedience. I will not allow the fear of people to silence my faith. I will not allow fear of failure to stop me from moving forward. I will trust God with my future. When I am afraid, I will pray. When I am uncertain, I will seek God. When I am weak, I will depend on His strength. When fear speaks, I will answer with faith. God is with me, therefore I will not be ruled by fear. LITTLE WISDOM Fear sees the size of the giant; faith remembers the greatness of God. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every fear that is controlling my life. Give me courage to obey You when obedience is difficult. Remove the fear of people, failure, poverty, rejection, uncertainty and the future from my heart. Help me to remember Your faithfulness whenever fear arises. Let Your Word become stronger in me than every voice of fear. Give me power, love and a sound mind. Help me to trust You completely and walk boldly in the path You have prepared for me. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 10th October 2026 DAY 283 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 275 THE GATE OF BOLD FAITH — THE BATTLE AGAINST FEAR “...For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind...” 2 Timothy 1:7, KJV Yesterday, we considered the battle against discouragement. Today, we come to another battle that can prevent a believer from moving forward: the battle against fear. Fear can make you see the size of the problem and forget the greatness of your God. It can make you remain where God has told you to move. It can make you remain silent when God has called you to speak. It can make you abandon an opportunity because you are afraid of failure. Bold faith does not mean the absence of fear. It means choosing to trust God even when fear is present. BIBLE PASSAGE “...What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee...” Psalm 56:3, KJV David did not say, “I will never be afraid.” He said, “...What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee...” Faith does not deny that danger exists. Faith declares that God is greater than the danger. WHAT IS BOLD FAITH? Bold faith is the confidence to trust God, obey His Word and move forward despite fear, opposition or uncertainty. It says: “I may not know everything, but I know God.” “I may not see the whole road, but I trust the One leading me.” “I may feel afraid, but I will not allow fear to control my obedience.” That is bold faith. FEAR AND FAITH Fear magnifies the problem. Faith magnifies God. Fear says, “What if I fail?” Faith says, “What if God helps me?” Fear says, “I cannot.” Faith says, “...I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me...” Philippians 4:13, KJV DAVID AND GOLIATH When Israel saw Goliath, they saw a giant. David saw an uncircumcised Philistine challenging the living God. David declared: “...The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine...” 1 Samuel 17:37, KJV David's confidence was not in his size. It was in his God. He stepped forward because he knew that the battle ultimately belonged to the Lord. HOW TO WALK IN BOLD FAITH 1. KNOW WHO GOD IS The more you know God, the less intimidating your circumstances become. “...They that know their God shall be strong, and do exploits...” Daniel 11:32, KJV 2. REMEMBER GOD'S PAST FAITHFULNESS David remembered the lion and the bear before facing Goliath. Remember what God has already done for you. Past victories can strengthen present faith. “...The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine...” 1 Samuel 17:37 (KJV) 3. OBEY GOD DESPITE FEAR Courage is not waiting until you feel completely comfortable. Sometimes courage is taking the next step while still trembling. “...Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee...” Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV) 4. STOP LISTENING TO NEGATIVE VOICES Israel listened to Goliath's threats for forty days. David listened to God's greatness. Be careful whose voice becomes louder in your heart. “...And David said to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts...” 1 Samuel 17:45 (KJV) 5. KEEP YOUR EYES ON CHRIST “...Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...” Hebrews 12:2, KJV Your confidence must remain in Christ, not in your own ability. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Through Christ, believers have access to God with confidence. “...In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him....” Ephesians 3:12, KJV Boldness is not arrogance. It is confidence that comes from knowing that you belong to Christ. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus walked boldly in obedience to the Father. He faced rejection, opposition, suffering and eventually the cross. Yet He did not retreat from His assignment. “...He steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem...” Luke 9:51, KJV Christ knew what awaited Him, but He continued forward. His obedience teaches you that God's purpose must be greater than your fear. DO NOT ALLOW FEAR TO CHOOSE YOUR FUTURE Fear can keep a person in a place God has already commanded him to leave. It can make you reject a God-given opportunity. It can make you remain silent about Christ. It can make you compromise because you are afraid of people's opinions. But you were not created to be controlled by fear. “...The fear of man bringeth a snare...” Proverbs 29:25, KJV Trust God. Obey God. Move forward. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A child crossing a busy road may be afraid. But when the child holds the hand of a strong and trusted father, the child's confidence changes. The road is still busy. The danger is still real. But the child knows: “My father is holding me.” That is what faith does. The presence of God does not mean there will never be difficult roads. It means you do not walk them alone. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: What fear is currently controlling my decisions? Am I more conscious of my problems than God's power? Is fear preventing me from obeying God? Whose opinion am I afraid of? What step of faith have I been postponing? Do I truly believe that God is with me? CALL TO DECISION Today, I choose bold faith. I will not allow fear to control my decisions. I will trust God when I cannot see the whole road. I will obey God even when obedience is difficult. I will not allow the fear of people to become greater than the fear of God. When opposition comes, I will stand. When uncertainty comes, I will trust. When fear comes, I will remember God's faithfulness. My confidence is not in myself. My confidence is in Jesus Christ. LITTLE WISDOM Bold faith is not the absence of fear; it is trusting God more than you fear the circumstances. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every form of fear that is preventing me from fulfilling Your purpose. Give me bold faith to trust You when circumstances are difficult. Help me to remember Your faithfulness and to obey Your Word even when I am afraid. Remove the fear of failure, rejection, people, poverty, uncertainty and the future from my heart. Give me courage to take every step You require of me. Let my confidence remain in Christ and not in my own strength. From today, let fear no longer control my decisions. Make me bold, courageous and faithful. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written by: Beloved in Christ Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 9th October 2026 DAY 282 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 274 THE BATTLE AGAINST DISCOURAGEMENT “...Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God...” Psalm 42:5, KJV Yesterday, we considered the battle of perseverance. Today, we come to another battle that can weaken perseverance: the battle against discouragement. Discouragement can make a strong person feel weak. It can make someone who once prayed passionately begin to pray less. It can make someone who once believed God's promise begin to question whether God still remembers him. Discouragement does not always come because you have failed. Sometimes it comes because you have been fighting for a long time without seeing the result you expected. BIBLE PASSAGE “...Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God...” Psalm 42:5, KJV The Psalmist was honest about his emotional condition. He was discouraged, but he did not allow discouragement to have the final word. He spoke to his own soul: “Hope thou in God.” Sometimes you must remind yourself of what God has said when your feelings are telling you something different. WHAT IS DISCOURAGEMENT? Discouragement is a loss of courage, confidence or hope because of difficulties, disappointment, delay or opposition. Discouragement says: “It is not working.” “You cannot continue.” “Nothing will change.” “God has forgotten you.” But faith says: God is still God, even when I cannot yet see the outcome. WHAT CAN CAUSE DISCOURAGEMENT? 1. DELAY When an answer takes longer than expected, the heart can become weary. "...And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him..." Exodus 32:1 2. FAILURE A failed attempt can make you believe that you can never succeed. “...For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief...” Proverbs 24:16 (KJV) 3. CRITICISM The words of people can sometimes weaken your confidence. “...Fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings...” Isaiah 51:7 (KJV) 4. COMPARISON Looking at another person's progress can make you despise your own journey. "...But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we...And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight..." Numbers 13:31;33 5. LONG BATTLES Some battles become exhausting because they continue for a long time. But a long battle does not mean that God has lost the battle. “...Though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry...” Habakkuk 2:3 (KJV) DAVID AND DISCOURAGEMENT David experienced seasons of deep distress. Yet he repeatedly returned his heart to God. “...But David encouraged himself in the LORD his God...” 1 Samuel 30:6, KJV There are moments when nobody may be available to encourage you. You must learn to encourage yourself in the Lord. Remember God's faithfulness. Remember His promises. Remember what He has already done. HOW TO OVERCOME DISCOURAGEMENT 1. TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE PROBLEM The longer you stare at the problem, the larger it can appear. Look unto God. “...I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help...” Psalm 121:1, KJV 2. REMEMBER WHAT GOD HAS DONE Past victories can strengthen present faith. If God helped you before, do not forget His faithfulness today. 3. SPEAK GOD'S WORD TO YOUR HEART Do not allow negative thoughts to become your permanent confession. “...Death and life are in the power of the tongue...” Proverbs 18:21, KJV Speak faith. Speak hope. Speak God's promises. 4. DO NOT ISOLATE YOURSELF God can use the right people to strengthen you. “...Two are better than one...” Ecclesiastes 4:9, KJV Be connected to people who encourage your faith and point you toward Christ. 5. KEEP MOVING Discouragement wants you to stop. Take the next right step. You may not be able to solve everything today, but you can remain faithful today. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Our strength comes from Christ. “...My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness...” 2 Corinthians 12:9, KJV You do not have to pretend that you are never weak. Bring your weakness to Christ. His grace is sufficient. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus understands what it means to experience sorrow and pressure. In Gethsemane, He faced the agony of the cross, yet He surrendered Himself to the Father's will. “...Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done...” Luke 22:42, KJV He did not allow the pain before Him to cancel the purpose of God. DO NOT LET DISCOURAGEMENT MAKE YOUR DECISION A discouraged heart can make permanent decisions based on temporary emotions. Do not quit because today is difficult. Do not abandon your calling because of criticism. Do not stop praying because the answer has delayed. Do not abandon God's promise because circumstances look contrary. Your present feeling is not necessarily your final reality. Hope thou in God. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A person climbing a mountain may become tired and sit down. The mountain has not disappeared. The destination has not changed. The person simply needs renewed strength before continuing. Sometimes you are not defeated. You are simply tired. Rest in God's presence. Receive fresh strength. Then continue the journey. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: What has been discouraging me recently? Have I allowed disappointment to weaken my faith? Am I focusing more on my problems than on God's promises? Have I stopped doing something good because I became discouraged? Who are the people influencing my spiritual courage? What has God already done for me that I should remember today? CALL TO DECISION Today, I refuse to surrender to discouragement. I will not allow delay to destroy my hope. I will not allow failure to define my future. I will not allow criticism to determine my obedience. I will not compare my journey with another person's journey. When I am weak, I will seek God's strength. When I am discouraged, I will hope in God. When I fall, I will rise again. I will continue walking with Christ. My discouragement will not have the final word. God will. LITTLE WISDOM Discouragement may tell you to stop, but faith reminds you that God is not finished with you yet. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every spirit of discouragement. When my heart is heavy, strengthen me. When I am disappointed, restore my hope. When I am tired, renew my strength. Help me to remember Your faithfulness and to trust Your promises even when I cannot see the result. Give me grace not to make permanent decisions because of temporary difficulties. Help me to encourage myself in You, remain faithful, and continue walking in Your purpose. Let my heart declare: “Hope thou in God.” In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written By: Beloved in Christ, Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 8th October 2026 DAY 281 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 273 THE GATE OF PERSEVERANCE — THE BATTLE AGAINST GIVING UP “...For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise...” Hebrews 10:36 KJV Yesterday, we considered the battle against double-mindedness. Today, we come to another battle that many people face: the battle against giving up. Many people start well but do not finish well. They pray, but stop praying when the answer delays. They believe, but become discouraged when circumstances worsen. They obey God, but become tired when the reward does not come quickly. Perseverance is the grace to keep standing, trusting and obeying God when the journey becomes difficult. BIBLE PASSAGE “...And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not....” Galatians 6:9, KJV Paul reminds you that there is a due season. The fact that you have not seen the harvest does not mean that the seed was wasted. Sometimes the greatest battle comes just before the breakthrough. WHAT IS PERSEVERANCE? Perseverance is the determination to continue doing what is right despite difficulty, delay, opposition, disappointment or weariness. It does not mean that you never become tired. It means that you refuse to allow tiredness to make your final decision. You may say: “I am tired, but I will continue.” “I do not understand, but I will trust God.” “I have been waiting, but I will not abandon God's promise.” That is perseverance. WHY DO PEOPLE GIVE UP? People sometimes give up because of: -Delay. -They expected the answer sooner. -Disappointment. -Something did not happen as they expected. -Opposition. -People resisted them. -Weariness. -The journey became longer than they imagined. -Comparison. They looked at others and concluded that they were being left behind. But God's timetable is not controlled by human comparison. “...To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven...” Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV PERSEVERANCE AND FAITH Abraham waited for the fulfilment of God's promise. He did not receive the promise immediately, but he continued believing. “...And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise...” Hebrews 6:15, KJV The word “after” is important. There was a period of waiting before there was a period of receiving. Do not abandon your faith simply because you are still in the “after patiently endured” season. JOB AND THE BATTLE OF PERSEVERANCE Job suffered enormous losses. He lost his possessions, his children and his health. Yet Scripture says: “...Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job...” James 5:11, KJV Job's story reminds you that suffering does not mean that God has abandoned you. The story is not finished simply because the present chapter is painful. HOW TO OVERCOME THE BATTLE OF GIVING UP 1. REMEMBER GOD'S PROMISE Do not allow temporary circumstances to make you forget eternal truth. “...Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away...” Matthew 24:35, KJV God's Word remains reliable even when circumstances change. 2. TAKE ONE STEP AT A TIME You do not have to complete the entire journey today. Sometimes you only need enough grace to take the next step. Keep moving. 3. DO NOT COMPARE YOUR JOURNEY WITH OTHERS Someone else's timing is not your timing. Their testimony does not mean that God has forgotten you. “...But they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise...” 2 Cor. 10:12, KJV 4. KEEP DOING WHAT IS RIGHT Do not allow disappointment to change your character. Continue praying. Continue serving. Continue giving. Continue forgiving. Continue obeying. Continue trusting God. 5. REMEMBER WHAT CHRIST ENDURED Jesus did not abandon His mission when the cross became painful. “...Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross...” Heb. 12:2, KJV If Christ endured the cross for you, do not abandon your journey because the road has become difficult. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Through Christ, we receive grace to persevere. “...I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me...” Philippians 4:13, KJV Perseverance is not merely human stubbornness. It is continuing by the strength that comes from Christ. When your strength is small, His grace remains sufficient. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus completed the assignment given to Him. At the cross, He declared: “...It is finished...” John 19:30, KJV He did not stop halfway. He did not abandon the Father's will because of suffering. He endured until the work was completed. Christ is our perfect example of perseverance. DO NOT STOP BEFORE YOUR DUE SEASON You may be closer than you think. The farmer does not destroy his field because the harvest has not appeared immediately. The student does not abandon education because the examination is difficult. The builder does not demolish the house because construction is taking time. And the believer must not abandon God's purpose because the journey has become difficult. Your responsibility is to remain faithful. God remains responsible for the harvest. “...in due season we shall reap, if we faint not...” Galatians 6:9, KJV LIFE ILLUSTRATION A runner in a long-distance race may become tired before reaching the finish line. His legs may hurt. His breathing may become difficult. He may even wonder whether he can continue. But the finish line does not move closer because he complains. He must keep running. Many people are spiritually tired today. But hear this: Do not stop now. The battle may be difficult, but keep trusting God. The prayer may seem delayed, but keep praying. The promise may seem distant, but keep believing. The journey may be long, but keep walking. You must finish well. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: -Am I becoming weary in doing what is right? -What situation is tempting me to give up? -Have I allowed delay to weaken my faith? -Am I comparing my journey with other people's journeys? -What instruction from God have I stopped obeying because of disappointment? -Am I willing to wait for God's due season? CALL TO DECISION Today, I choose perseverance. I will not give up because of delay. I will not abandon my faith because of difficulty. I will not allow disappointment to make me disobedient. I will continue to pray. I will continue to believe. I will continue to obey. I will continue to serve. I will continue to walk with Christ. When I become tired, I will seek God's strength. When I fall, I will rise again. When the journey becomes difficult, I will remember the finish line. By the grace of God, I will finish well. LITTLE WISDOM The delay may test your faith, but perseverance keeps you standing until your due season comes. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, give me grace to persevere. When I am tired, strengthen me. When I am discouraged, encourage me. When answers are delayed, help me to keep trusting You. Deliver me from the spirit of giving up. Help me to continue doing what is right, even when I cannot immediately see the result. Give me grace to remain faithful under pressure and to finish the assignment You have given me. Let me not faint before my due season. Help me to keep my eyes on Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of my faith. By Your grace, I will not stop halfway. I will finish well. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 7th October 2026 DAY 280 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 272 THE GATE OF A SINGLE HEART — THE BATTLE AGAINST DOUBLE-MINDEDNESS “...A double minded man is unstable in all his ways...” James 1:8, KJV Yesterday, we considered the battle against spiritual inconsistency. Today, we come to one of the reasons people struggle with consistency: double-mindedness. A double-minded person wants God but also wants what God has commanded him to leave. He wants holiness but still desires the pleasures of sin. He wants God's will but keeps negotiating with his own will. A divided heart produces an unstable life. BIBLE PASSAGE “...But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed... A double minded man is unstable in all his ways...” James 1:6, 8, KJV James compares the double-minded person to a wave—moving wherever the wind pushes it. Circumstances, fear, money, temptation, people, emotions and public opinion can easily influence a person whose heart is not settled. God wants you to have a settled heart. WHAT IS DOUBLE-MINDEDNESS? Double-mindedness is an inward division that prevents a person from fully committing to God's truth. It is not the same as sincerely asking questions or seeking God's direction. A believer may be uncertain and still be sincere. Double-mindedness begins when you know what God requires but continue to negotiate with it. The heart says: “I want God—but I also want what God has told me to leave.” That is dangerous. GOD WANTS YOUR WHOLE HEART Jesus said: “...No man can serve two masters...” Matthew 6:24, KJV Joshua declared: “...Choose you this day whom ye will serve...” Joshua 24:15, KJV Then he settled the matter: “...As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...” You cannot successfully build your life around two competing masters. DOUBLE-MINDEDNESS AND TEMPTATION Joseph had already settled his conviction before temptation came. “...How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?...” Gen 39:9, KJV Joseph did not begin negotiating when temptation arrived. His decision had already been made. Some battles are easier to win before temptation comes. Settle your convictions before pressure arrives. DOUBLE-MINDEDNESS AND FAITH Abraham faced circumstances that appeared contrary to God's promise, yet: “...He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith...” Romans 4:20, KJV Faith does not mean that difficulties disappear. Faith means that God's Word remains greater than the circumstances. Your circumstances may be unsettled, but your heart can remain settled in God. HOW TO OVERCOME DOUBLE-MINDEDNESS 1. SETTLE WHO IS LORD Jesus as mmmust not merely be your Saviour; He must be your Lord. 2. KNOW GOD'S WORD A person who does not know God's Word can easily borrow convictions from the world. “...And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free...” John 8:32, KJV 3. STOP NEGOTIATING WITH CLEAR DISOBEDIENCE When God's Word is clear, stop looking for excuses. Do not ask, “How close can I get to sin?” Ask, “How close can I walk with Christ?” 4. WATCH YOUR ASSOCIATIONS “...Iron sharpeneth iron...” Proverbs 27:17, KJV Your relationships can strengthen or weaken your convictions. 5. LEARN TO SAY NO Say no to sinful pleasure, dishonest gain, revenge, pride, ungodly pressure and compromise. Your “no” protects your “yes” to God. 6. KEEP YOUR EYES ON CHRIST “..Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...” Hebrews 12:2, KJV The more you focus on Christ, the less attractive competing masters become. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Through Christ, you are not helpless before divided desires. “...Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh...” Galatians 5:16, KJV The answer is not merely stronger human determination. It is surrender to Christ and walking in the Spirit. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus said: “...I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me...” John 5:30, KJV He remained faithful even when obedience led Him to the cross. “...He humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross...” Philippians 2:8, KJV Christ is our perfect example of a life completely surrendered to God. A SINGLE HEART PRODUCES A STABLE LIFE A settled heart does not mean you understand everything. It means you know whom you trust. You may face problems—but you have direction. You may face temptation—but you know what to choose. You may experience delay—but you continue trusting God. You may not understand everything—but you can still obey. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A driver cannot successfully travel east and west at the same time. He must choose a direction. Many believers live like this spiritually. They want God on Sunday but follow the world's values during the week. They surrender during prayer but reclaim control when temptation comes. The answer is simple: Choose Christ. Surrender completely. Remain faithful. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: Is my heart fully surrendered to Christ? Am I trying to serve God and the world at the same time? What decision am I postponing because I fear the consequences of obedience? Are my relationships strengthening or weakening my convictions? Am I seeking God's will or merely seeking God's approval of my own will? What competing desire is fighting for first place in my heart? CALL TO DECISION Today, settle the matter. Jesus Christ will be Lord of my life. I will not live with divided allegiance. I will not negotiate with sin. I will not allow fear, money, pleasure or human approval to control my obedience. When God's Word is clear, I will obey. When circumstances are difficult, I will trust. When temptation comes, I will stand. When I fall, I will repent and rise. My heart belongs to Christ. LITTLE WISDOM A divided heart produces an unstable life, but a heart fully surrendered to God can remain steady even when circumstances change. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every form of double-mindedness. Remove every divided loyalty from my heart. Help me to love You above everything else. Where I have been wavering, establish me. Where fear has controlled me, give me faith. Give me grace to obey Your Word even when obedience is difficult. Help me to walk in the Spirit, remain faithful under pressure, and keep my heart completely surrendered to You. Let my life declare: “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written by: Beloved in Christ Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 6th October 2026 DAY 279 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 271 THE GATE OF SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE — THE BATTLE AGAINST SPIRITUAL INCONSISTENCY “...But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway....” 1 Cor. 9:27, KJV Yesterday, we considered THE GATE OF SPIRITUAL SEPARATION — THE BATTLE AGAINST WORLDLINESS. Today, we move to another important gate. It is not enough to know what is right. It is not enough to desire holiness. It is not enough to say, “I want to grow spiritually.” There must be discipline. Many believers have good intentions but inconsistent spiritual lives. They want to pray, but they do not maintain a prayer life. They want to study the Bible, but they rarely open it. They want to hear from God, but they are constantly distracted. They want to overcome temptation, but they do not control their environment. They want spiritual strength without spiritual training. But spiritual strength does not normally grow through wishes. It grows through disciplined fellowship with God and disciplined obedience to His Word. BIBLE PASSAGE “...Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.” “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things.” “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection...” 1 Cor. 9:24–27, KJV Paul uses the picture of an athlete. An athlete does not become strong because he desires victory. He trains. He exercises. He controls his appetite. He follows a schedule. He sacrifices comfort. He repeats the necessary disciplines. Likewise, a believer must learn to discipline his spiritual life. WHAT IS SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE? Spiritual discipline is the deliberate and consistent practice of habits that help you know God, obey His Word, grow in Christ and remain spiritually alert. It includes: Prayer Bible study Meditation on God's Word Worship Fasting Fellowship with believers Evangelism Giving Self-control Obedience Examination of one's life Serving God. These practices do not purchase salvation. Christ saves us by grace through faith. But the person who has received God's grace should desire to grow in the grace of God. Peter said: “...But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ...” 2 Peter 3:18, KJV Grace does not make discipline unnecessary. Grace teaches you to live differently. THE BATTLE AGAINST SPIRITUAL INCONSISTENCY One of the greatest enemies of spiritual growth is inconsistency. Today you pray. Tomorrow you do not. Today you read several chapters. Then you go for days without opening the Bible. Today you are passionate about God. Tomorrow worldly distractions consume your attention. Today you make a commitment. Tomorrow you abandon it. Spiritual inconsistency produces spiritual instability. James describes the unstable person: “...A double minded man is unstable in all his ways...” James 1:8, KJV God desires consistency. You do not need to pray for five hours every day to prove that you are spiritual. But you need a genuine, sustainable pattern of fellowship with God. Consistency is often more powerful than occasional intensity. 1. DISCIPLINE YOUR PRAYER LIFE Jesus said: “...Men ought always to pray, and not to faint...” Luke 18:1, KJV Prayer should not be reserved for emergencies. Prayer is fellowship with God. Develop a prayer rhythm. Have moments when you deliberately withdraw from distractions and seek God. Daniel had a disciplined prayer life. “...Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house... and he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed...” Daniel 6:10, KJV Daniel did not begin praying because of the crisis. His established discipline carried him through the crisis. 2. DISCIPLINE YOUR STUDY OF GOD'S WORD Jesus said: “...Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God...” Matthew 4:4, KJV Your body needs food. Your spirit needs God's Word. If you continuously feed your body while starving your spirit, spiritual weakness will eventually become evident. Do not read the Bible only when preparing to preach. Do not read only when you need a verse. Read because you need God. The Word corrects you. The Word instructs you. The Word strengthens you. The Word exposes deception. The Word renews your mind. The Word helps you recognise the voice of truth. 3. DISCIPLINE YOUR THOUGHTS Spiritual discipline includes controlling what occupies your mind. Paul instructed: “..Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ...” 2 Corinthians 10:5, KJV You cannot always prevent a thought from appearing. But you can decide whether you will entertain it. A thought may knock at your mind's door. You do not have to invite it inside. Therefore, learn to examine your thoughts. Ask: Is this thought consistent with God's Word? Will entertaining this thought strengthen or weaken my spiritual life? Does this thought lead me toward Christ or toward sin? 4. DISCIPLINE YOUR BODY Paul said: “...I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection...” 1 Corinthians 9:27, KJV Your body is not your master. Your appetite is not your master. Your emotions are not your master. Your impulses are not your master. Christ is your Lord. Self-control is part of the fruit of the Spirit. “...But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance...” Galatians 5:22–23, KJV Discipline means learning to say yes to what God wants and no to what God forbids. 5. DISCIPLINE YOUR TIME Everybody receives twenty-four hours in a day. The difference is how those hours are used. Paul said: “...Redeeming the time, because the days are evil...” Ephesians 5:16, KJV You cannot spend all your time on entertainment and expect deep spiritual growth. You cannot give hours to social media and give God only a few distracted minutes. You cannot constantly pursue earthly things and expect eternal priorities to remain strong automatically. What receives your time often reveals what receives your attention. 6. DISCIPLINE YOUR ASSOCIATIONS Your spiritual discipline includes choosing relationships wisely. “..Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners...” 1 Corinthians 15:33, KJV Some relationships strengthen your spiritual life. Some weaken it. Some conversations encourage holiness. Others normalise sin. Some friendships challenge you to become better. Others make disobedience comfortable. You cannot always avoid everyone who does wrong, but you must be careful about who has permission to influence you. 7. DISCIPLINE YOUR RESPONSE TO TEMPTATION A disciplined Christian does not wait until temptation becomes overwhelming before making a decision. He establishes boundaries beforehand. Joseph did not negotiate with temptation. When Potiphar's wife attempted to draw him into sin, Joseph said: “...How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?...” Genesis 39:9, KJV And when the pressure increased: “...He left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out...” Genesis 39:12, KJV Sometimes spiritual discipline means walking away. Do not remain where you should flee. Do not keep feeding what you are praying to overcome. 8. DISCIPLINE YOUR WORSHIP AND FELLOWSHIP The Christian life was never designed to be lived in isolation. Hebrews 10:25 says: “...Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together...” Gather with God's people. Worship with God's people. Learn with God's people. Serve with God's people. Encourage others. Allow mature believers to challenge you. Spiritual discipline becomes stronger when you place yourself within healthy Christian fellowship. SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE IS NOT LEGALISM This distinction is important. Legalism says: “I must perform these things so that God will accept me.” The gospel says: “Because God has accepted me through Christ, I desire to live in a way that pleases Him.” We are saved by grace. “...For by grace are ye saved through faith...” Ephesians 2:8, KJV But immediately afterward, Scripture says: “...For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works...” Ephesians 2:10, KJV Grace saves us. Grace also transforms us. Therefore, spiritual discipline is not an attempt to earn God's love. It is a response to God's love. DISCIPLINE BUILDS SPIRITUAL STRENGTH Consider an athlete. Nobody sees all the hours of training behind the performance. People see the race. They do not see the early mornings. They do not see the sacrifices. They do not see the controlled diet. They do not see the repetition. In the same way, spiritual strength is often built in secret. The prayers nobody hears. The Bible study nobody sees. The temptation you resisted when nobody was watching. The forgiveness you chose. The dishonest opportunity you rejected. The money you refused to obtain wrongly. The private obedience that received no human applause. These are the places where spiritual muscles are developed. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus demonstrated perfect spiritual discipline. He withdrew to pray. “...And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed...” Mark 1:35, KJV He knew Scripture. He obeyed the Father. He resisted Satan. He controlled His responses. He remained focused on His assignment. And in the greatest moment of pressure, He prayed: “...Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done...” Luke 22:42, KJV That is the heart of spiritual discipline: Not my will, but Thine be done. BUILD A PERSONAL SPIRITUAL ROUTINE You may establish a simple pattern such as: MORNING Prayer Bible reading Meditation Commitment of the day to God DURING THE DAY Short prayers Scripture meditation Guarding your thoughts Practising self-control Maintaining a Christ-centred attitude EVENING Thanksgiving Examination of the day Confession where necessary Prayer Preparation for the next day. The exact routine may differ from person to person. The important thing is not merely creating a schedule. The important thing is keeping your heart connected to God. WHEN YOU FAIL, DO NOT ABANDON DISCIPLINE Sometimes believers fail in their spiritual routine and then conclude: “I have failed, so there is no point continuing.” That is another trap. If you miss one day, return the next day. If you fall, repent and rise. If you become spiritually cold, return to Christ. “...For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again...” Proverbs 24:16, KJV Do not allow yesterday's failure to become tomorrow's excuse. Restart. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A farmer cannot plant once and expect a harvest forever. He must cultivate the field. He must remove weeds. He must protect the crop. He must continue working. In the same way, your spiritual life requires continual cultivation. Yesterday's prayer cannot replace today's fellowship. Yesterday's Bible study cannot replace today's need for God's Word. Yesterday's victory does not mean you should stop watching and praying today. Every new day presents another opportunity to walk with God. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: Do I have a consistent personal prayer life? How regularly do I study and meditate on God's Word? What usually distracts me from spiritual disciplines? Am I disciplined in what I watch, hear and read? Do I control my appetites, or do my appetites control me? Do I have a healthy pattern of Christian fellowship? What spiritual discipline have I started and abandoned repeatedly? What one discipline do I need to strengthen immediately? Am I trying to live on yesterday's spiritual experience? Does my daily life demonstrate that Christ is truly my Lord? CALL TO DECISION Today, make a decision: I will not remain spiritually inconsistent. I will build a disciplined prayer life. I will study God's Word. I will guard my mind. I will discipline my body. I will redeem my time. I will choose my relationships wisely. I will resist temptation. I will practise obedience. I will not depend only on spiritual experiences of the past. I will walk with God today. LITTLE WISDOM Spiritual growth does not happen accidentally; what you repeatedly practise will eventually shape what you become. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, Give me grace to become spiritually disciplined. Deliver me from inconsistency, laziness, distraction and spiritual negligence. Help me to develop a strong prayer life. Give me hunger for Your Word. Teach me to control my thoughts, appetites, emotions and desires. Help me to redeem my time and use my days wisely. Give me strength to resist temptation and wisdom to avoid unnecessary spiritual danger. Help me to remain faithful when nobody is watching. Let my private life agree with my public confession. When I fall, give me grace to repent and rise again. Help me not to depend upon yesterday's victories. Let me walk with You daily, grow in grace continually and become more like Jesus Christ. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 5th October 2026 DAY 278 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN BATTLE 270 THE GATE OF SPIRITUAL SEPARATION — THE BATTLE AGAINST WORLDLINESS “...Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world...” 1 John 2:15, KJV Yesterday, we considered THE GATE OF HOLINESS — THE BATTLE AGAINST SPIRITUAL COMPROMISE. Today, we move one step further. A holy life cannot be sustained by a heart that is constantly being shaped by the world. Worldliness is not simply wearing certain clothes, listening to certain music, watching certain programmes, or possessing material things. At its deeper level, worldliness is allowing the values, desires, priorities and standards of a God-rejecting world to control the heart of a believer. The danger is that worldliness can enter quietly. A person may still attend church, sing worship songs, carry a Bible and even preach, while the values of the world gradually become the governing principles of his life. That is why this is a battle you must win. BIBLE PASSAGE “...Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him” “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” “And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever...” 1 John 2:15–17, KJV WHAT IS WORLDLINESS? Worldliness is friendship with a system of values that puts self above God. It is possible to live in the world without allowing the world to live in you. Jesus did not pray that His disciples would be taken out of the world. He prayed: “...I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil...” John 17:15, KJV Therefore, Christianity is not an escape from society. We work in the world. We conduct business in the world. We go to school in the world. We raise our families in the world. We interact with people in the world. But we must not allow the world to determine how we live before God. THE THREE ENEMIES OF THE WORLDLY HEART John identifies three major expressions of worldliness. 1. THE LUST OF THE FLESH “...For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh...” 1 John 2:16, KJV This is the desire to satisfy sinful appetites without regard for God's will. The flesh says: “I want it.” God's Word asks: “Is it right?” The flesh says: “Nobody will know.” God's Word reminds us: “God sees.” The flesh says: “Do what feels good.” The Spirit says: “Do what pleases God.” You must learn to distinguish between desire and permission. Not everything you desire is something God permits. 2. THE LUST OF THE EYES “...and the lust of the eyes...” 1 John 2:16, KJV The eyes can become a gateway through which worldliness enters the heart. What you constantly watch can influence what you eventually desire. What you constantly admire can become what you eventually pursue. What you repeatedly expose yourself to can gradually become normal to you. David saw Bathsheba before he pursued her. "...And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon..." 2 Sam.11:2, Kjv Genesis 3:6 says concerning Eve: “...And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes...” The problem was not merely what was outside. The battle was also what happened inside the heart after seeing it. Therefore, you must guard your eyes. Not everything deserves your attention. Not everything deserves your admiration. Not everything deserves a place in your imagination. 3. THE PRIDE OF LIFE “...and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world...” 1 John 2:16, KJV This is the desire to make self the centre. It says: “Look at me.” “I must be celebrated.” “I must be superior.” “I must prove myself.” “I must have what others have.” Pride can even enter ministry. A person may begin serving God because of love for Christ and eventually become more interested in recognition, titles, applause and influence than in obedience. Jesus warned: “...For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God...” John 12:43, KJV The cure for the pride of life is humility before God. THE WORLD IS PASSING AWAY John gives us a powerful reason not to build our lives around worldly values: “...And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof...” 1 John 2:17, KJV Everything the world tells you to live for is temporary. -Money is temporary. -Beauty is temporary. -Fame is temporary. -Position is temporary. -Popularity is temporary. -Material possessions are temporary. -Human applause is temporary. But: “...He that doeth the will of God abideth for ever...” 1 John 2:17, KJV Therefore, do not exchange eternal things for temporary pleasures. Do not sacrifice your relationship with God for what will eventually pass away. YOU ARE IN THE WORLD, BUT YOU MUST NOT BELONG TO ITS SYSTEM Romans 12:2 says: “...And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind...” Notice the word “conformed.” The world constantly pressures people to fit into its pattern. It tells you: -Everybody is doing it. -It is normal now. -Nobody cares anymore. -You must compromise to succeed. -Everybody cheats. -Everybody lies. -Everybody is sleeping around. -Everybody is pursuing money at all costs. -Everybody wants fame. -Everybody wants revenge. But the believer does not determine truth by counting how many people believe something. God's Word remains the standard. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ Himself faced the world's temptations. Satan appealed to: -appetite, -possessions, -power, -recognition, -pride. Yet Jesus remained obedient to the Father. When Satan tempted Him, Jesus answered with the Word of God. “...It is written...” — Matthew 4:4, KJV Again: “...It is written again...” Matthew 4:7, KJV And again: “...It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve...” Matthew 4:10, KJV Our victory over worldliness is not achieved by human strength alone. We look to Christ, abide in Christ, obey His Word and walk in the Spirit. HOW TO WIN THE BATTLE AGAINST WORLDLINESS 1. RENEW YOUR MIND WITH GOD'S WORD You cannot overcome the world's influence while continuously feeding your mind with the world's values. Fill your heart with Scripture. “...Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee...” Psalm 119:11, KJV 2. WATCH WHAT YOU LOVE Ask yourself: What occupies my heart more—God or the things of this world? Your strongest affection often reveals your spiritual direction. 3. WATCH WHAT YOU ADMIRE Not everything that looks successful is blessed by God. Not everything that is popular is righteous. Not everything that is celebrated should be imitated. 4. CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDSHIPS CAREFULLY “...Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners...” 1 Corinthians 15:33, KJV You cannot always choose who you meet, but you can exercise wisdom concerning who you allow to shape you. 5. LEARN CONTENTMENT Worldliness grows where comparison rules the heart. Paul said: “...And having food and raiment let us be therewith content...” 1 Timothy 6:8, KJV Contentment does not mean laziness. It means refusing to make possessions the measure of your worth. 6. REMEMBER ETERNITY When eternity becomes real to you, temporary things lose some of their power over you. Ask: Will this matter when I stand before Christ? That question can save you from many wrong decisions. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A fish can live in water without becoming water. In the same way, a Christian lives in the world without becoming worldly. The problem begins when the believer forgets his identity. When salt loses its distinctiveness, it becomes useless. Jesus said: “...Ye are the salt of the earth...” Matthew 5:13, KJV God has not called you to become like the world in order to influence it. He has called you to remain different enough to show the world another way. You cannot rescue what you have completely become. THE WORLD CAN ENTER THROUGH SMALL DOORS Worldliness does not always begin with a major fall. It can begin with: -one unchecked desire. -one unhealthy friendship. -one secret habit. -one compromise. -one wrong ambition. -one obsession with material things. -one hunger for human approval. Eventually, the small door becomes a large entrance. Therefore, guard your heart. “...Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life...” Proverbs 4:23, KJV SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: Am I allowing the values of the world to influence my decisions? What worldly desire has the strongest hold on my heart? Do I measure success mainly by money, possessions, position or recognition? What am I constantly watching that may be weakening my spiritual life? Do I seek God's approval more than human applause? Are my friendships drawing me closer to Christ or away from Him? If Jesus examined my private life today, what would He find? Am I living for what is temporary or what is eternal? CALL TO DECISION Today, make a deliberate decision: I will live in this world without allowing the world to rule my heart. I will not allow popularity to replace holiness. I will not allow materialism to replace contentment. I will not allow human approval to replace God's approval. I will not allow temporary pleasure to destroy eternal purpose. I will renew my mind through God's Word. I will walk in the Spirit. I will guard my heart. I will pursue Christ. I will choose the will of God above the pressure of the world. LITTLE WISDOM You can live in the world without belonging to its values; but when the world begins to control your desires, decisions and priorities, worldliness has entered your heart. PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, Deliver me from every form of worldliness. Help me to live in this world without allowing its sinful values to control my heart. Deliver me from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Renew my mind through Your Word. Give me grace to reject every influence that draws me away from You. Help me to value eternal things above temporary things. Let my life reflect Christ wherever I go. Give me courage to be different when the world pressures me to conform. Let me seek Your approval above the praise of men. Keep my heart pure, my motives right and my eyes fixed upon Jesus. May I not lose my eternal inheritance because of temporary pleasures. Let my life become a testimony that a person can live in the world and still belong completely to Christ. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written by: Beloved in Christ Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 4th October, 2026 DAY 277 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN (269) THE GATE OF HOLINESS — THE BATTLE AGAINST SPIRITUAL COMPROMISE One of the greatest battles you must win as a Christian is the battle to remain holy in an unholy world. We live in a generation where many things that were once considered wrong are increasingly presented as normal, acceptable, or harmless. The pressure to conform can be strong. But the standard of the Christian life is not determined by culture, public opinion, or popular behaviour. God's Word remains the standard. The Bible says: “...Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:...” Hebrews 12:14, KJV Holiness is not an optional decoration of Christianity. It is part of the believer's calling. BIBLE PASSAGE “...Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy...” 1 Peter 1:16, KJV God's call to holiness is rooted in His own character. He does not merely say: “...Be holy because society expects it...” He says: “...Be holy because I am holy...” Holiness means being separated unto God and living in a way that reflects His character. It affects: --Your thoughts. --Your words. --Your relationships. --Your sexuality. --Your business. --Your finances. --Your entertainment. --Your private life. --Your public conduct. --Your motives. --Holiness is not merely what people see. --Holiness begins in the heart. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Paul gave believers a clear command: “...For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:...” 1 Thess. 4:3, KJV God desires His people to be sanctified—to become increasingly separated from sin and devoted to Him. The Christian life is not simply: “I have been forgiven.” It is also: “I am being transformed.” Grace does not give you permission to continue deliberately in sin. Paul asked: “...What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?...” His answer was: “...God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?...” Romans 6:1–2, KJV Grace forgives you, but grace also teaches you to live differently in this polluted world. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ died to redeem us from sin and purify us for Himself. “...Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works...” Titus 2:14, KJV Christ did not die merely to change our destination after death. He came to transform our lives here and now. His sacrifice provides forgiveness. His Spirit provides power. His Word provides direction. His grace provides strength. Therefore, holiness is not an attempt to earn salvation. Holiness is the life that should flow from belonging to Christ. WHAT IS HOLINESS? Holiness does not mean that you become perfect by your own human strength. It means that you deliberately surrender yourself to God and reject what contradicts His will. Holiness involves: --Separation from sin. You refuse to make peace with practices God condemns. --Consecration to God. You recognise that your life belongs to Him. --Purity of heart. You allow God to deal not only with outward actions but also with motives and desires. --Obedience to God's Word. You allow Scripture to determine what is right and wrong. --Christlike character. You increasingly reflect the character of Jesus. THE DANGER OF SPIRITUAL COMPROMISE Compromise often begins with something that appears small. A person says: “It is only once.” Then it becomes a habit. “Everybody does it.” Then conviction becomes weaker. “God understands.” Then God's grace becomes an excuse. “Nobody will know.” Then secret sin grows. Spiritual compromise rarely announces: “I have come to destroy your relationship with God.” It usually whispers: “This is harmless.” That is why spiritual vigilance is necessary. HOLINESS IN PRIVATE One of the greatest tests of holiness is what you do when nobody is watching. You may look holy in church while secretly living differently. But God sees beyond appearances. David said: “...Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts...” Psalm 51:6, KJV God desires truth inside us. Holiness is therefore not a performance for people. It is a surrendered life before God. Ask yourself: Who am I when nobody is watching? That question can reveal the difference between reputation and character. HOLINESS OF THE MIND Jesus taught that sin does not begin only with outward actions. The heart and mind matter. Therefore, be careful about what you continually allow into your imagination. --What you repeatedly watch can influence what you desire. --What you repeatedly think about can influence what you eventually do. Paul instructed: “...Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;...” 2 Corinthians 10:5, KJV You cannot always prevent a thought from appearing. But you can decide whether you will entertain it. A thought may knock at the door; you do not have to invite it inside. HOLINESS OF SPEECH Your mouth is also part of your Christian witness. The Bible says: “...Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying...” Ephesians 4:29, KJV Holiness affects: How you speak to your spouse. How you speak to your children. How you speak about other people. How you respond when angry. How you conduct business conversations. What you say when you are frustrated. A person cannot consistently use his mouth to bless God while deliberately using the same mouth to destroy people. HOLINESS IN BUSINESS AND FINANCES Holiness is not restricted to church activities. It follows you into the marketplace. A holy Christian should not become dishonest simply because money is involved. Do not: --Cheat customers. --Manipulate people. --Falsify records. --Take what does not belong to you. --Exploit vulnerable people. --Use dishonest means to obtain wealth. “...A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight..." Proverbs 11:1, KJV Your business can become part of your Christian testimony. Integrity is also worship. HOLINESS IN RELATIONSHIPS Be careful about relationships that continually pull you away from God. The Bible warns: “...Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners...” 1 Corinthians 15:33, KJV Not every friendship is beneficial. Not every relationship should have unlimited access to your life. Not every voice deserves influence over your decisions. Wisdom does not require you to hate people. It requires you to understand boundaries and influence. LIFE ILLUSTRATION Imagine a glass of clean drinking water. Someone adds only a small amount of poison. The quantity may appear insignificant compared with the amount of water. But the water is no longer safe simply because most of it remains clean. In the same way, a person may say: “Most areas of my life are good.” But deliberate compromise in an area God has clearly addressed should not be treated casually. Holiness requires you to bring every area of your life under Christ's lordship. HOLINESS IS NOT LEGALISM There is an important distinction. Legalism tries to establish righteousness through human rules and outward performance. Biblical holiness begins with a heart surrendered to God and transformed by His grace. We are saved by grace through faith, not by our works. “...For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:...” Ephesians 2:8, KJV But the same grace that saves us also teaches us to reject ungodliness. “...For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,” “Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly...” Titus 2:11–12, KJV Therefore: Grace saves. Grace transforms. Grace teaches obedience. HOW TO PURSUE HOLINESS 1. Stay close to Christ. The closer you walk with Jesus, the more His character should influence you. 2. Fill your mind with God's Word. Scripture exposes wrong thinking and directs you toward righteousness. 3. Guard your environment. Be careful what you continually expose yourself to. 4. Deal with sin quickly. Do not allow hidden sin to become an established habit. 5. Practise repentance. When the Holy Spirit convicts you, respond. 6. Choose godly relationships. Surround yourself with people who encourage your walk with God. 7. Depend upon the Holy Spirit. Holiness cannot be sustained by human determination alone. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: Is there any area of my life where I have become comfortable with sin? Am I different privately from the person people see publicly? What am I allowing into my mind that weakens my spiritual life? Are my relationships helping me move closer to Christ? Is my business conduct consistent with my Christian confession? Do my words reflect the character of Christ? Have I mistaken God's patience for God's approval? What area of my life needs immediate repentance and surrender? Do not be afraid of honest examination. God reveals what needs to be changed so that He can transform it. CALL TO DECISION Today, choose holiness. Do not allow the standards of the world to become the standards of your Christian life. Do not excuse what God has commanded you to abandon. Do not protect secret habits that are destroying your spiritual life. Bring your mind, body, relationships, finances, business, words, ambitions, and private life before God. Ask Him to search you. Ask Him to cleanse you. Ask Him to transform you. And then obey what He reveals. “...Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me...” Psalm 51:10, KJV Holiness is not about appearing perfect before people; it is about becoming increasingly surrendered to God. LITTLE WISDOM Do not measure holiness by how religious you appear in public; measure it by how faithfully you surrender your private life to God. PRAYER My Lord Jesus Christ, make me holy and acceptable unto You. Search my heart and reveal every hidden area of compromise. Deliver me from secret sins, impure thoughts, wrong desires, pride, dishonesty, bitterness, unforgiveness, and every habit that does not glorify Your name. Cleanse my heart and renew my mind. Help me to guard what I see, hear, think, say, and do. Give me grace to separate myself from anything that continually pulls me away from You. Help me to live with integrity in my home, marriage, family, ministry, business, relationships, and private life. May my life reflect the character of Jesus Christ. When I fall, give me grace to repent quickly. When I am tempted, give me strength to stand. When I am pressured to compromise, give me courage to remain faithful. Let my life be a vessel consecrated for Your purpose and useful in Your hands. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written by: Beloved in Christ Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 3rd October, 2026 DAY 276 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN (268) THE BATTLE AGAINST TEMPTATION — THE GATE OF SPIRITUAL VIGILANCE One of the battles every Christian must learn to fight is the battle against temptation. Temptation is an invitation to choose something that may appear attractive, satisfying, profitable, or harmless but ultimately leads us away from God's will. Being tempted does not mean that you have sinned. Jesus Himself was tempted, yet He remained without sin. “...For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin...” Hebrews 4:15, KJV The issue is therefore not whether temptation will come. The issue is what you will do when it comes. BIBLE PASSAGE “...Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak...” Matthew 26:41, KJV Jesus gave two important instructions: Watch. Pray. Watching means remaining spiritually alert. Prayer means maintaining dependence upon God. A careless Christian may walk directly into situations that a spiritually vigilant Christian would have avoided. Therefore, do not only pray for strength after temptation arrives. Develop wisdom that helps you recognise temptation before you fall into it. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY James explains how temptation develops: “...But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed...” James 1:14, KJV Temptation often begins internally before it becomes externally visible. A thought can become a desire. A desire can become an intention. An intention can become an action. An action can become a habit. A habit can become bondage. This is why temptation should be confronted early. Do not wait until a small spark becomes a consuming fire. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ faced temptation and overcame it through obedience to God's Word. After fasting for forty days, He was tempted by the devil. Each time, Jesus responded with Scripture: “...It is written...” Matthew 4:4, 7, 10, KJV Jesus did not negotiate with the temptation. He did not attempt to justify it. He did not ask whether everyone else was doing it. He stood upon God's Word. This teaches you an important principle: A strong knowledge of God's Word helps you recognise and resist the lies of temptation. TEMPTATION OFTEN APPEARS ATTRACTIVE If temptation always looked ugly, dangerous, and destructive, many people would reject it immediately. But temptation often comes dressed attractively. It may look like: --Easy money. --A secret relationship. --Revenge that appears justified. --An opportunity to satisfy pride. --A business shortcut. --A dishonest advantage. --A moment of pleasure. --A chance to impress people. --A seemingly harmless compromise. The danger is that temptation often shows you the pleasure before the price. Sin may advertise enjoyment while hiding consequences. Therefore, do not judge an opportunity only by what it offers you immediately. Ask: Where will this decision lead me? COMMON AREAS OF TEMPTATION 1. Sexual temptation. Sexual temptation can destroy marriages, families, ministries, reputations, and destinies. Paul gave a direct instruction: “...Flee fornication...” 1 Corinthians 6:18, KJV Notice that Scripture says flee. Some temptations should not be negotiated with. 2. Financial temptation. The desire for quick wealth can tempt people toward fraud, dishonesty, exploitation, corruption, gambling, and other destructive choices. The believer must remember: No financial gain is worth sacrificing your integrity before God. 3. The temptation of pride. Success can tempt a person to forget the God who helped him. Recognition can become an idol. Achievement can produce self-exaltation. Always remember: “...God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble...” James 4:6, KJV 4. The temptation of anger. You may be genuinely wronged, but anger can tempt you to respond in ways that create greater damage. Not every offence requires revenge. 5. The temptation to compromise. Sometimes you are tempted to abandon your convictions because obedience has become inconvenient. But your integrity is more valuable than temporary approval. THE DANGER OF NEGOTIATING WITH TEMPTATION A person may say: “I will only look.” Then he keeps looking. “I will only talk to her.” Then emotional attachment develops. “I will only take this money temporarily.” Then dishonesty becomes a habit. “I will only tell this small lie.” Then one lie requires another lie to protect it. Temptation often grows when you keep negotiating with it. The safest victory is sometimes the refusal to begin. JOSEPH: AN EXAMPLE OF RUNNING FROM TEMPTATION Joseph was repeatedly tempted by Potiphar's wife. She presented him with an opportunity to sin privately. But Joseph recognised something greater than immediate pleasure: “...how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?...” Genesis 39:9, KJV When the pressure increased, Joseph ran. “...And he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out...” Genesis 39:12, KJV Joseph teaches you that sometimes victory does not look like standing confidently in front of temptation. Sometimes victory looks like running away from it. HOW TO WIN THE BATTLE AGAINST TEMPTATION 1. Know your vulnerable areas. You should know the situations, environments, emotions, and relationships that make you more vulnerable. Self-awareness is not weakness. It is wisdom. 2. Avoid unnecessary exposure. If something continually pulls you toward sin, establish boundaries. Do not deliberately place yourself where your convictions will constantly be challenged. 3. Fill your heart with God's Word. “...Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee...” Psalm 119:11, KJV The Word gives you truth to fight false promises. 4. Pray before temptation becomes intense. Do not wait until you are already emotionally overwhelmed. Ask God for strength and wisdom beforehand. 5. Flee when necessary. There are moments when the most spiritual response is to leave. Leave the conversation. Leave the environment. Close the screen. End the relationship. Walk away from the money. Refuse the opportunity. Fleeing is not cowardice when you are fleeing from sin. 6. Remember the consequences. Ask yourself: “What could this decision cost me?” A few minutes of pleasure may create years of consequences. 7. Seek godly accountability. Do not fight every battle alone. Trusted, mature Christian relationships can provide encouragement, correction, and accountability. GOD PROVIDES A WAY OF ESCAPE The Bible gives tremendous encouragement: “...There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful...” And then: “...but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it...” 1 Corinthians 10:13, KJV Notice: God is faithful. You may feel that the temptation is too strong. You may feel trapped. You may think there is no alternative. But God's Word says there is a way of escape. Sometimes the escape is prayer. Sometimes it is leaving. Sometimes it is calling someone. Sometimes it is confessing the struggle. Sometimes it is changing your environment. Sometimes it is simply saying no. Look for the way of escape. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A man sees a warning sign beside a dangerous bridge: “DO NOT CROSS — BRIDGE UNSAFE.” He does not need to test the bridge personally before believing the warning. Wisdom accepts the warning and chooses another route. Many people, however, approach temptation differently. They say: “Let me see how close I can get without falling.” That is dangerous. The wise question is not: “How close can I get to sin?” The wise question is: “How far can I stay from what can destroy my relationship with God?” TEMPTATION IS NOT YOUR IDENTITY If you experience temptation, do not immediately conclude: “I am a terrible Christian.” Temptation itself is not sin. The battle becomes serious when you deliberately entertain, embrace, and act upon what God forbids. Jesus was tempted. Yet He did not sin. Therefore, when temptation comes: Do not condemn yourself. Do not surrender. Do not negotiate. Turn to Christ. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: What temptation do I struggle with most? What usually triggers that temptation? Do I recognise temptation early or only after I have become deeply involved? What environments or relationships make me more vulnerable? Do I have practical boundaries? Do I pray before temptation becomes strong? Am I feeding desires that I am asking God to help me overcome? What is the way of escape God may be providing for me? CALL TO DECISION Today, decide that you will not treat temptation casually. Watch. Pray. Know God's Word. Guard your heart. Recognise your vulnerable areas. Establish wise boundaries. Flee when necessary. And when temptation comes, remember that God is faithful. You do not have to surrender. You do not have to obey every desire. You do not have to repeat yesterday's failure. Through Christ, you can choose obedience. The temptation may come, but the decision is still yours. LITTLE WISDOM You do not become strong by standing unnecessarily close to temptation; sometimes the greatest victory is knowing when to walk away. PRAYER My Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen me against every temptation. Give me spiritual eyes to recognise temptation before it captures my attention and wisdom to avoid situations that can lead me into sin. Help me to guard my heart, control my desires, renew my mind, and remain faithful to Your Word. When temptation comes, remind me that You are faithful and that You provide a way of escape. Give me courage to flee from sin and strength to choose righteousness. Deliver me from sexual immorality, greed, pride, anger, dishonesty, revenge, compromise, and every other work of the flesh. Where I have fallen before, forgive me and restore me. Help me to learn from my failures and establish stronger boundaries. May my love for You become greater than my desire for temporary pleasure. Let me live with spiritual vigilance, wisdom, self-control, and holiness. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written by: Beloved in Christ Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 2nd October, 2026 DAY 275 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN (267) THE GATE OF OBEDIENCE — THE BATTLE AGAINST DELAYED AND PARTIAL OBEDIENCE One of the greatest battles you must win in your Christian journey is the battle to obey God completely. It is possible to pray, fast, worship, read the Bible, attend church, give offerings, and serve in ministry, yet struggle with the simple matter of obedience. God is not merely looking for people who hear His Word. He is looking for people who do what He says. “...But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves...” James 1:22, KJV Obedience is where revelation becomes action. It is where faith becomes visible. It is where love for God becomes practical. BIBLE PASSAGE “...And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice...” 1 Samuel 15:22, KJV King Saul had received a clear instruction from God, but he chose partial obedience. He did what was convenient and retained what God had commanded him to destroy. When Samuel confronted him, Saul tried to explain his actions. But God was not impressed by his explanation. The lesson is powerful: God does not call partial obedience complete obedience. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Jesus connected love for Him with obedience. “...If ye love me, keep my commandments...” John 14:15, KJV Obedience is not a way of purchasing God's love. It is a response to God's love. When you truly value Christ, His instructions become important to you. A believer cannot continually say: “I love Jesus,” while deliberately refusing what Jesus commands. Our love should produce obedience. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Himself demonstrated perfect obedience to the Father. He said: “...For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me...” John 6:38, KJV And concerning His sacrifice: “...he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross...” Philippians 2:8, KJV Christ did not choose obedience only when it was convenient. He obeyed even when obedience involved suffering. Through His example, we learn that obedience is not measured by convenience. True obedience is demonstrated when God's will conflicts with our own preference. WHAT MAKES OBEDIENCE DIFFICULT? 1. SELF-WILL Sometimes you know what God wants, but you want something different. The greatest obstacle may not be ignorance. It may be: “I know what God said, but I want my own way.” 2. FEAR You may know what God is asking you to do but fear what obedience might cost you. You may fear losing money, relationships, opportunities, recognition, or comfort. But faith says: God's will is safer than my disobedience. 3. DELAY Some people do not say no to God. They simply keep saying: “Later.” But delayed obedience can become disobedience. When God has made His will clear, unnecessary delay is dangerous. 4. PEOPLE-PLEASING Sometimes people know God's instruction but are more concerned about what others will say. Paul asked: "...For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men?...” Galatians 1:10, KJV You cannot obey God consistently while making human approval your highest priority. 5. PARTIAL OBEDIENCE This was Saul's problem. He obeyed some of God's instruction but rejected the part he did not like. Partial obedience is still disobedience. THE DANGER OF PARTIAL OBEDIENCE Imagine a doctor gives a patient five instructions necessary for recovery. The patient follows four but deliberately ignores the fifth. He cannot reasonably say: “I followed the doctor's instructions.” He followed some of them. In the same way, you should not redefine obedience according to the portions of God's Word that are convenient to you. If God says: Forgive, forgive. If God says: Speak the truth, speak the truth. If God says: Flee fornication, flee. If God says: Love your enemies, seek to live according to that command. If God says: Give, obey with the right heart. If God says: Do not repay evil for evil, do not make revenge your lifestyle. The question is not: “Which commandments do I like?” The question is: “What has God said?” OBEDIENCE REQUIRES TRUST Sometimes the reason people struggle to obey God is because they do not fully trust Him. Abraham is a powerful example. God called him to leave his country and go to a place God would show him. “...By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed...” Hebrews 11:8, KJV Notice the connection: Faith → obedience. Abraham did not have every detail before he started. He trusted the One who was calling him. There will be moments in your Christian journey when you will not understand everything God is doing. But you can still obey what He has clearly revealed. You do not need to understand everything before obeying what God has clearly commanded. OBEDIENCE OPENS THE DOOR TO GOD'S PURPOSE God told Israel: “...And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments...” Deuteronomy 28:1, KJV Throughout Scripture, obedience is repeatedly connected with walking in God's purposes and blessings. But obedience should never be reduced to a formula for getting material things from God. The greatest blessing of obedience is walking in alignment with God. A person may possess money and still be outside God's will. A person may have little materially and yet be faithfully walking with God. Therefore, do not obey God merely because you want a reward. Obey Him because He is Lord. OBEDIENCE IN SMALL THINGS Many people are waiting for a great instruction from God while ignoring the simple instructions already contained in Scripture. You may want God to reveal your future while refusing to obey His present command. You may want a great ministry while neglecting simple faithfulness. You may want greater financial resources while failing to manage what you already possess. You may want God to use you publicly while refusing to obey Him privately. Jesus said: “...He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much...” Luke 16:10, KJV Great obedience often begins with small decisions. Do not despise small acts of faithfulness. OBEDIENCE WHEN NOBODY IS WATCHING The true test of obedience is often not what you do publicly. It is what you do privately. Who are you when nobody is watching? Do you maintain integrity? Do you control your thoughts? Do you speak truth? Do you resist temptation? Do you honour your commitments? Do you treat people fairly? Do you obey God even when there is no applause? God sees what people do not see. Therefore, build a private life that can support your public testimony. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A father tells his young son: “Do not cross the road without holding my hand.” The child may not understand traffic laws, vehicle speed, braking distance, or the dangers involved. But he trusts his father. When the father reaches for his hand, the child obeys. The child does not need a university lecture before obeying. He trusts the person giving the instruction. In the same way, there will be moments when God's instruction is clearer than your understanding. You may not understand the whole picture. But you know the One who sees the whole picture. Obedience says, “Lord, because I trust You, I will follow You.” HOW TO DEVELOP A LIFE OF OBEDIENCE 1. Know God's Word. You cannot obey instructions you do not know. 2. Take God's commands seriously. Do not treat Scripture as suggestions. 3. Obey promptly. When God makes something clear, do not unnecessarily postpone it. 4. Obey completely. Do not select the parts that suit you. 5. Obey even when it costs you. Convenient obedience is easy. Costly obedience reveals trust. 6. Repent quickly when you fail. Do not defend disobedience. Confess it, turn from it, and return to God. 7. Make obedience your lifestyle. Do not obey God only during special spiritual moments. Obey Him in your home, marriage, business, ministry, finances, relationships, and private life. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: Is there anything God has already told me to do that I am delaying? Am I obeying God's Word completely or selectively? Is there an area where my personal desires are competing with God's will? Am I more concerned about pleasing people than pleasing God? Do I obey God only when obedience benefits me? What instruction from God's Word have I been resisting? What specific act of obedience do I need to take today? Do not merely admire the truth. Obey it. CALL TO DECISION Today, make a fresh commitment to obey God. Stop negotiating with instructions that are already clear. Stop calling delayed obedience wisdom when God has already spoken. Stop calling partial obedience complete obedience. Stop allowing fear, pride, convenience, relationships, money, or public opinion to determine whether you will obey God. If God's Word says it, believe it. If God commands it, obey it. If you have failed, repent. If you have delayed, begin. If you have compromised, return. Your future cannot be separated from your response to God's instructions today. Obey God’s Command Through Christ. LITTLE WISDOM Obedience is not proven by what you intend to do; it is proven by what you actually do with what God has told you. PRAYER My Lord Jesus Christ, give me the grace to obey You completely. Deliver me from self-will, pride, fear, people-pleasing, delayed obedience, and partial obedience. Give me a heart that loves Your Word and desires to please You. When I do not understand, help me to trust You. When obedience is difficult, give me courage. When obedience is costly, give me strength. When I am tempted to compromise, remind me that Your will is greater than my convenience. Help me to obey You in the little things and in the great things, in public and in private, when people are watching and when nobody is watching. Where I have disobeyed You, give me genuine repentance. Restore me to the path of obedience and make my life a testimony of faithfulness. May my words, decisions, relationships, finances, family, ministry, and daily conduct bring honour to Your name. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written by: Beloved in Christ Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 1st October, 2026 DAY 274 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN (266) THE BATTLE AGAINST THE FLESH — THE GATE OF SELF-CONTROL One of the battles every believer must continually confront is the battle against the flesh. Yesterday, we considered the importance of walking in the Spirit. Today, we go deeper into the enemy of that walk: the fleshly nature that seeks to pull us away from God's will. The flesh represents those sinful desires, impulses, attitudes, and appetites that oppose the life God wants us to live. The flesh says: “Do what you want.” The Spirit says: “Do what pleases God.” The flesh says: “Satisfy yourself.” The Spirit says: “Surrender yourself to God.” The battle is real. But the believer does not have to surrender to the flesh. “....This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh...” Galatians 5:16, KJV BIBLE PASSAGE “...For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other...” Galatians 5:17, KJV The flesh and the Spirit are moving in opposite directions. The flesh wants to control your desires. The Spirit leads you toward God's will. Therefore, Christian maturity requires learning to recognise the desires of the flesh and refusing to allow them to govern your life. Not every desire deserves to be satisfied. Not every thought deserves to be entertained. Not every emotion deserves to become an action. Not every opportunity should be accepted. Wisdom knows when to say yes, and spiritual maturity knows when to say no. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Paul said: “...And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts...” Galatians 5:24, KJV To crucify the flesh means that you refuse to allow sinful desires to become the master of your life. This is not a one-time excuse for careless living. It is a daily commitment to surrender ourselves to Christ. Jesus said: “...And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me..” Luke 9:23, KJV Notice the word daily. Every day there are desires to deny, attitudes to surrender, temptations to resist, and decisions to make. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ conquered sin and made a new life possible for those who belong to Him. Paul declared: “...Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin...” Romans 6:6, KJV The purpose of salvation is not simply to forgive the sins of the past while leaving us permanently controlled by them. Christ came to set us free from the dominion of sin. “...For sin shall not have dominion over you...” Romans 6:14, KJV You may still experience temptation. You may still face weakness. But temptation is not the same thing as surrender. You can resist. You can choose obedience. You can call upon Christ for strength. WHAT ARE THE WORKS OF THE FLESH? Paul gives a sobering description: “...Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God....” Galatians 5:19–21, KJV The flesh is not limited to sexual temptation. It also appears through: --Hatred. --Anger. --Envy. --Pride. --Jealousy. --Greed. --Selfish ambition. --Bitterness. --Strife. --Uncontrolled appetite. --Revenge. --Impurity. --Excessive love of pleasure. --Desire for recognition. Sometimes people are careful about obvious sins while tolerating fleshly attitudes that are equally destructive. The flesh can wear religious clothing. A person can preach and still struggle with pride. A person can sing and still harbour hatred. A person can give offerings and still be controlled by greed. A person can serve in church and still refuse to forgive. Therefore, defeating the flesh requires allowing God to deal with the condition of the heart, not merely outward behaviour. HOW THE FLESH DECEIVES YOU The flesh rarely introduces temptation by showing you its final consequences. It shows you the pleasure. It says: “Just this once.” “Nobody will know.” “You deserve it.” “Everybody is doing it.” “You can repent later.” But temptation often hides the price behind the pleasure. David saw Bathsheba before he saw the consequences. Esau saw the immediate satisfaction of food before he considered what he was surrendering. Judas saw money before he fully considered the tragedy of betrayal. The flesh focuses on now. Wisdom considers later. THE BATTLE OF APPETITES Every human being has legitimate desires. You need food. You need rest. You need companionship. You need financial provision. You need affection. You have ambitions and dreams. The problem is not necessarily the existence of a desire. The problem occurs when a legitimate desire becomes an uncontrolled master. Food is good, but gluttony is destructive. Money is useful, but greed is destructive. Sex within God's design is good, but sexual immorality is destructive. Rest is necessary, but laziness can become destructive. Ambition can be useful, but pride can corrupt it. The question is therefore: Who is controlling the desire? HOW TO WIN THE BATTLE AGAINST THE FLESH 1. Recognise your areas of weakness. Do not pretend that you have no vulnerable areas. Know where you are most likely to fall. Awareness helps you establish boundaries. 2. Avoid feeding the flesh. You cannot continually feed a desire and expect it to become weaker. Be careful what you watch, read, listen to, discuss, and repeatedly imagine. “...Make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof...” Romans 13:14, KJV Do not make arrangements for the very temptation you are asking God to help you overcome. 3. Renew your mind. “...And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind...” Romans 12:2, KJV What dominates your mind eventually influences your behaviour. Fill your mind with God's Word. 4. Flee temptation when necessary. Not every battle should be fought by standing close to temptation. Sometimes the wisest spiritual decision is to leave. Joseph did not remain around Potiphar's wife to prove how strong he was. He ran. “...how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?...” Genesis 39:9, KJV 5. Pray before temptation becomes overwhelming. Do not wait until you are already deeply entangled before seeking God. Jesus said: “...Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation...” Matthew 26:41, KJV 6. Practise self-control. Self-control is part of the fruit of the Spirit. “...temperance...” Galatians 5:23, KJV You do not have to obey every appetite. You can say: “No.” LIFE ILLUSTRATION Imagine a man who keeps a dangerous animal in a cage. As long as the cage remains secure, he may live safely around it. But if he repeatedly weakens the cage, leaves the door unlocked, and deliberately provokes the animal, he should not be surprised when it eventually escapes. Many people pray for victory while continually creating opportunities for temptation. They ask God to help them overcome anger while continually entertaining bitterness. They pray against sexual temptation while deliberately consuming immoral content. They ask God to deliver them from financial greed while continually comparing themselves with wealthy people. They pray for freedom from addiction while repeatedly placing themselves in the environment that feeds the addiction. Do not continually feed what you are asking God to help you overcome. THE POWER OF SAYING NO One of the most important spiritual words you can learn is: NO. --No to temptation. --No to bitterness. --No to revenge. --No to impurity. --No to greed. --No to pride. --No to destructive relationships. --No to uncontrolled appetites. --No to sinful opportunities. Saying no to the flesh is not weakness. It is spiritual strength. You do not prove your freedom by doing everything you are capable of doing. You prove your freedom by having the strength to refuse what can destroy you. WHEN YOU FALL Winning the battle against the flesh does not mean you will never make a mistake. If you fall into sin, do not run away from God in shame. Run toward God in repentance. “...If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness...” 1 John 1:9, KJV Do not turn one failure into a lifestyle. --Repent. --Receive God's forgiveness. --Examine how the fall happened. --Close the door that allowed the temptation to enter. --Rise again. --Continue walking with Christ. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: --What area of my life is most vulnerable to the flesh? --What situations usually trigger my wrong desires? --What am I continually feeding that I should be starving? --Do I make excuses for attitudes God wants me to surrender? --Am I willing to remove relationships, habits, or environments that continually lead me into temptation? --Do I respond to temptation through prayer or through self-confidence? --When I fall, do I repent quickly or try to hide my sin? --What practical step will I take today to strengthen my self-control? CALL TO DECISION Today, make a deliberate decision to stop making provision for the flesh. Identify the doors through which temptation repeatedly enters your life and begin closing them. Do not negotiate with what God has commanded you to abandon. Do not call weakness a permanent identity. Do not call bondage your destiny. Christ has called you to freedom. Walk in the Spirit. Renew your mind. Guard your heart. Control your appetites. Flee destructive environments. Pray continually. And when you fall, repent and rise again. The battle against the flesh is not won by willpower alone, but by surrendering your life continually to Christ and walking in the power of His Spirit. LITTLE WISDOM You cannot defeat the flesh by feeding it; starve what God has commanded you to crucify and strengthen what the Spirit is producing in you. PRAYER My Lord Jesus Christ, help me to overcome the flesh. Deliver me from every sinful desire, uncontrolled appetite, wrong attitude, destructive habit, and hidden weakness that seeks to rule my life. Give me grace to recognise temptation before it becomes sin. Help me to guard my heart, renew my mind, control my desires, and make wise decisions. Give me strength to say no when temptation comes and courage to flee from anything that can destroy my relationship with You. Where I have fallen, give me genuine repentance. Where I have become weak, strengthen me. Where I have opened wrong doors, help me to close them. Let the Holy Spirit produce His fruit in my life. May love overcome hatred, self-control overcome excess, humility overcome pride, forgiveness overcome bitterness, and obedience overcome rebellion. Help me to crucify the flesh daily, abide in Christ, and live a life that brings glory to Your name. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written by: Beloved in Christ Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 30th September, 2026 DAY 273 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN (265) THE GATE OF WALKING IN THE SPIRIT — THE BATTLE AGAINST THE DOMINANCE OF THE FLESH One of the greatest battles you must win as a Christian is the battle between the Spirit and the flesh. After learning to fellowship with God and maintain a life of prayer, you must also learn to walk under the direction and influence of the Holy Spirit. Being a Christian does not mean that you will never experience temptation, anger, pride, selfish desires, fear, or other impulses of the flesh. The battle is learning not to allow the flesh to govern your decisions. The Bible says: “...This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh...” Galatians 5:16, KJV Walking in the Spirit means allowing the Holy Spirit, through God's Word, to influence your thoughts, desires, decisions, attitudes, relationships, and conduct. The question is not merely: “What do I want to do?” It is: “What does the Spirit of God want me to do?” BIBLE PASSAGE “...For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God...” Romans 8:14, KJV The Holy Spirit is not merely an experience. He is the Spirit of God who indwells believers and leads them into a life that honours Christ. Walking in the Spirit requires sensitivity. --It requires obedience. --It requires surrender. --It requires a willingness to reject what God rejects and embrace what God approves. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Paul clearly describes the conflict between the flesh and the Spirit: “...For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other...” Gal. 5:17, KJV There is a battle taking place. The flesh says: “Do what feels good.” The Spirit leads you toward: “Do what pleases God.” The flesh may demand revenge. The Spirit leads you toward forgiveness. The flesh may demand immediate gratification. The Spirit teaches self-control. The flesh may encourage pride. The Spirit produces humility. The flesh may encourage hatred. The Spirit produces love. This is why Christian maturity requires more than knowing Scripture intellectually. You must learn to live by what the Spirit reveals through God's Word. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ did not save you so that you would remain controlled by the old nature. Through Christ, you have been given a new position and a new way of living. Paul declared: “...There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit...” Romans 8:1, KJV Christ has dealt with the condemnation of sin and has provided the believer with the Holy Spirit. You therefore do not have to surrender helplessly to every sinful desire that arises in your heart. You can say no to the flesh. You can choose obedience. You can seek God's strength. You can walk in the Spirit. WHAT DOES WALKING IN THE SPIRIT MEAN? 1. Allowing God's Word to govern your life. The Holy Spirit does not lead you contrary to Scripture. If an impulse contradicts God's Word, you should not call it the leading of the Spirit. 2. Obeying God's promptings. When God convicts you about an attitude, action, relationship, or decision, do not continually resist Him. 3. Choosing spiritual values over fleshly desires. Walking in the Spirit often means choosing what is right over what is convenient. 4. Developing spiritual sensitivity. You must learn to recognise what strengthens your relationship with God and what weakens it. 5. Producing spiritual fruit. The evidence of walking in the Spirit is not merely what you say you have experienced. It is also what your life begins to produce. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT Paul writes: “...But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law....” Galatians 5:22–23, KJV Notice that Scripture calls these qualities fruit. Fruit develops. It grows. It becomes visible. If you are genuinely walking with the Holy Spirit, your character should progressively reflect Christ. Your Christianity should become visible in: How you speak. How you treat people. How you respond to provocation. How you handle money. How you conduct business. How you treat your spouse. How you respond to correction. How you handle success. How you behave when nobody is watching. Spiritual maturity eventually becomes visible through character. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE FLESH TAKES CONTROL? The works of the flesh can destroy what God wants to build in a person's life. Paul lists examples: “...Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God....” Gal. 5:19–21, KJV The flesh can destroy: Relationships. Families. Ministries. Businesses. Reputations. Opportunities. Spiritual sensitivity. Peace of mind. Future generations. A moment of uncontrolled fleshly desire can produce consequences that last for years. Therefore, do not feed what you are praying to overcome. HOW DO YOU WALK IN THE SPIRIT? 1. Feed your spirit with God's Word. What you continually put into your mind influences your thoughts and choices. “...Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly...” Colossians 3:16, KJV 2. Maintain a prayer life. Yesterday we learned the danger of prayerlessness. Prayer keeps your heart dependent upon God and creates space for spiritual examination and surrender. 3. Obey quickly. Delayed obedience can become disobedience. When God's Word clearly reveals what you should do, respond. 4. Control your environment. Be careful about what you watch, hear, read, celebrate, and continually expose yourself to. What you repeatedly consume can influence what you eventually desire. 5. Practise self-control. Self-control is part of the fruit of the Spirit. Do not allow every emotion to become an action. 6. Stay connected to Christ. Jesus said: “...Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me....” John 15:4, KJV A Spirit-led life grows out of continued fellowship with Christ. LIFE ILLUSTRATION A man is driving a vehicle on an unfamiliar road. He has two possible approaches. He can ignore the navigation system and follow every impulse—turning wherever he feels like turning. Or he can listen carefully to the directions and adjust his route accordingly. The second approach does not mean that the road will never have traffic, obstacles, or unexpected turns. It means he has guidance. Walking in the Spirit is similar. The Christian life will still have temptations, difficulties, decisions, and unexpected circumstances. But the believer does not have to navigate life entirely by human impulse. The Holy Spirit leads. God's Word provides the boundaries. Obedience determines the direction. DO NOT CONFUSE EMOTION WITH THE LEADING OF THE SPIRIT Not every strong feeling is the voice of the Holy Spirit. --You may feel angry and want to retaliate. --You may feel attracted to something that God forbids. --You may feel afraid and want to abandon an assignment. --You may feel proud because people are praising you. Therefore, do not simply say: “I feel it, therefore God is leading me.” Test what you believe you are being led to do against: --Scripture. --The character of Christ. --Godly wisdom. --Prayer. --Righteousness. --The fruit it produces. The Holy Spirit will not lead you into contradiction with God's revealed Word. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: --What usually controls my decisions—God's Word, the Spirit, emotions, or fleshly desires? --How do I respond when I am angry? ---What happens when I am tempted? --Am I becoming more loving, patient, gentle, faithful, and self-controlled? --Is there an area of my life where I repeatedly resist God's correction? --What am I continually feeding—my spirit or my flesh? --Can people who know me closely see evidence of Christ's character in my life? Do not measure spiritual maturity only by how much you know. Measure it also by how much Christ is being formed in you. CALL TO DECISION Today, surrender your thoughts, desires, emotions, decisions, relationships, ambitions, and plans to the Holy Spirit. Do not allow the flesh to determine your future. When anger says, “Fight back,” ask what Christ would have you do. When pride says, “Exalt yourself,” choose humility. When temptation says, “Nobody will know,” remember that God sees. When fear says, “Give up,” seek God's strength. When selfishness says, “Take everything for yourself,” choose generosity. Learn to say: “Not my will, but thine, be done.” The more consistently you surrender to God, the more your life can reflect the character of Christ. LITTLE WISDOM The flesh wants to control your life; the Holy Spirit wants to lead you into the character and will of Christ. PRAYER My Lord Jesus Christ, help me to walk in the Spirit. Deliver me from the dominance of the flesh, sinful desires, uncontrolled emotions, pride, anger, selfishness, and every habit that does not glorify You. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit. Give me spiritual sensitivity to recognise Your leading and courage to obey Your Word. Help me to control my thoughts, words, desires, decisions, and actions. Let the fruit of the Spirit become increasingly visible in my life—love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. When I am tempted, strengthen me. When I am confused, guide me. When I am weak, uphold me. When I am corrected, give me humility to receive it. Help me to abide in Christ and live every day under the influence and direction of Your Spirit. May my life continually reveal the character of Jesus Christ. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. WISDOM DIGEST FOR TODAY 29th September, 2026 DAY 272 THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN (264) THE BATTLE AGAINST PRAYERLESSNESS — THE GATE OF SPIRITUAL DEPENDENCE One of the most dangerous battles in the Christian life is the battle against prayerlessness. Prayerlessness is more than failing to kneel down and pray. It is the gradual development of a life that attempts to function without depending on God. A Christian may remain busy, attend church, serve in ministry, work hard, make plans, and interact with people every day, yet gradually lose the habit of seeking God. Prayerlessness often begins quietly. --You become too busy to pray. --You postpone prayer because you are tired. --You remember prayer only when there is a problem. Eventually, you begin making decisions without seeking God's direction and facing battles without seeking His strength. But Jesus said: “...Men ought always to pray, and not to faint...” Luke 18:1, KJV Prayer is not a religious burden. Prayer is the believer's expression of dependence upon God. BIBLE PASSAGE “...Pray without ceasing...” 1 Thessalonians 5:17, KJV This does not mean that a Christian must remain on his knees every minute of the day. It means that prayer should become a continuing pattern of life. You should develop a heart that continually turns toward God for: --Direction. --Strength. --Wisdom. --Protection. --Provision. --Forgiveness. --Grace. --Spiritual understanding. --Help in times of trouble. Prayer keeps your heart connected to the One who is greater than every situation you face. THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY Jesus repeatedly taught His disciples the importance of prayer. Before His crucifixion, He told them: “...Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation...” Matthew 26:41, KJV Notice the connection: Watch and pray → resist temptation. Prayer does not mean that temptation will never come. It means you are spiritually prepared when temptation comes. The disciples slept while Jesus prayed. When the hour of testing arrived, they were not prepared. This teaches you an important principle: Prayerlessness can leave a person spiritually unprepared for battles that are already approaching. CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE Jesus Christ has opened the way for you to approach God. “...Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need...” Hebrews 4:16, KJV Through Christ, you do not have to remain spiritually helpless. You have access to the throne of grace. --When you are weak, come. --When you are confused, come. --When you are afraid, come. --When you have sinned, repent and come. --When you need wisdom, come. --When you are facing opposition, come. --When you are rejoicing, come. God has made a way for His children to approach Him. Do not neglect the privilege Christ has provided. WHAT DOES PRAYERLESSNESS DO? Prayerlessness can produce several dangerous conditions in a believer's life. 1. It creates spiritual independence. You begin saying, consciously or unconsciously: “I can handle this myself.” But Jesus said: “...For without me ye can do nothing...” John 15:5, KJV 2. It weakens spiritual sensitivity. Prayer helps you slow down, listen, examine your heart, and seek God's direction. Without it, the noise of life can become louder than the voice of wisdom. 3. It makes temptation more difficult to resist. Jesus connected prayer with overcoming temptation. “...Watch and pray...” Matthew 26:41, KJV 4. It encourages anxiety. Instead of taking your concerns to God, you carry them alone. But Scripture says: “...Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you...” 1 Peter 5:7, KJV 5. It can make you act before seeking God's direction. Many painful decisions could have been approached differently if people had first stopped to pray. HOW TO OVERCOME PRAYERLESSNESS 1. Establish a definite prayer time. Do not depend entirely on feelings. Set aside time deliberately. Daniel had a consistent prayer practice: “...he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed...” Daniel 6:10, KJV A regular prayer pattern helps transform prayer from an occasional activity into a lifestyle. 2. Begin your day with God. Before allowing the demands of the day to dominate your mind, acknowledge God. Ask Him for wisdom, strength, protection, and direction. 3. Pray throughout the day. You can pray while travelling, working, resting, walking, or facing a difficult decision. Prayer does not always require a long session. Sometimes a sincere sentence from the heart can express your dependence upon God. 4. Pray before making important decisions. Do not allow urgency to eliminate prayer. Some decisions can affect years of your life. Take time to seek God's wisdom. 5. Pray with God's Word. Use Scripture to shape your prayers. The Word gives you language, principles, promises, warnings, and direction. 6. Pray even when you do not feel like praying. Feelings change. Your commitment to God should not depend entirely on your emotions. Sometimes the prayer you pray when you feel spiritually weak becomes the prayer that helps restore your strength. LIFE ILLUSTRATION Imagine a man travelling on a long journey with a mobile phone whose battery is almost empty. He knows the phone contains important information and can help him communicate, navigate, and respond to emergencies. Yet he refuses to charge it. At first, everything appears normal. But as the journey continues, the battery keeps reducing. Eventually, the phone becomes useless when he needs it most. Prayer is not the source of God's power; God is the source. But prayer is one of the ways God has appointed for His children to seek Him, depend upon Him, receive grace, connect to His power and align themselves with His will. A prayerless Christian may continue functioning outwardly while becoming increasingly weak inwardly. PRAYER IS NOT ONLY ABOUT ASKING One reason some people become prayerless is that they think prayer is only about requesting things from God. But prayer includes: Worship — acknowledging who God is. Thanksgiving — appreciating what God has done. Confession — acknowledging our sins and failures. Intercession — standing before God on behalf of others. Supplication — presenting our needs to God. Listening and meditation — allowing God's Word to shape your heart and decisions. A mature prayer life is therefore more than: “Lord, give me this.” It becomes: “Lord, what do You want from me?” WHEN YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO PRAY There are times when words fail. You may be overwhelmed by grief, confusion, fear, or uncertainty. The Bible gives this assurance: “...Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought...” Romans 8:26, KJV You do not need perfect words before you approach God. The Holy Spirit is present to help you when you invites Him to join you in prayer. Come sincerely. Come humbly. Come honestly. God knows the condition of your heart. THE DANGER OF EMERGENCY PRAYER ONLY Some people have what can be called an emergency prayer life. They pray when: --There is sickness. --Money is needed. --There is danger. --A business is failing. --An examination is approaching. --A relationship is collapsing. --A problem has become impossible to solve. But God wants more than emergency contact. He wants fellowship. A child should not speak to his father only when he needs money. Likewise, prayer should not become merely a crisis-management system. Talk to God when you need Him and when you are simply grateful to have Him. SELF-EVALUATION Ask yourself honestly: How consistent is my prayer life? Do I pray only when I have problems? Do I seek God before making important decisions? Have busyness and technology reduced my prayer time? Do I spend more time talking about my problems than talking to God about them? When God answers my prayers, do I remember to return with thanksgiving? What specific change can I make today to strengthen my prayer life? Do not condemn yourself because of your answers. Let your answers become a call to return to the place of prayer. CALL TO DECISION Today, make a fresh decision to rebuild your prayer life. Set aside time for God. Put away unnecessary distractions. Open your heart before Him. Thank Him. Worship Him. Confess your sins. Pray for your family. Pray for your church. Pray for your nation. Pray for your assignment. Pray for wisdom. Pray for strength. Pray for others. And above all, seek to know God's will. Do not wait until the battle becomes intense before you discover the power of prayer. Build a prayer life before the crisis comes. LITTLE WISDOM Prayerlessness does not make the battle disappear; it can leave you facing the battle without seeking the strength and wisdom God provides. PRAYER My Lord Jesus Christ, teach me to pray. Deliver me from prayerlessness, spiritual laziness, distraction, and dependence on my own strength. Give me a fresh hunger for Your presence. Help me to seek You in the morning, remember You throughout the day, and come before You at night with thanksgiving. Give me grace to pray when I am strong and when I am weak, when I understand and when I do not understand. Teach me to pray according to Your will and to trust You with the things I cannot control. Let prayer become a living relationship with You and not merely an emergency response. Strengthen my spiritual life, guide my decisions, protect my family, empower me for my assignment, and help me remain faithful to You. May I never become too busy to pray or too proud to depend upon You. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen. Written by: Beloved in Christ Pastor Olanrewaju G. L. ...” Hebrews 10:23 (KJV)
