Bloody Weekend: 13 Killed During Cult
Clashes in Idah
Palpable fear enveloped Idah,
headquarters of Idah Local
Government Area of Kogi State, as no
fewer than 13 persons were killed
during clashes by rival cult groups in
the town.
At the end of the clashes, which was
said to have started on Friday and
lasted till Sunday morning, two
women and 11 men were either shot
dead or sustain injuries as a result of
machete cut.
It was gathered that trouble started
on Friday night when some group of
boys invaded the town and shot one
Danjuma Amodu, popularly called
Murphy.
The boy was said to have been
gunned down while relaxing in front
of his family house at GRA by the cult
group members, who also butchered
his body.
When the news of Amodu’s death
filtered through the town, some fully
armed men believed to be members
of his group were said to bave
mobilised for reprisal and held the
town hostage for several hours.
Nigerian Tribune further learnt that
the men drove in a
Volkswagen Golf car and shot
sporadically for several
hours, while they searched various
spots for their targets.
The gunmen were reported to have
blocked the road
between Ibro Junction and Bishop
road Junction between the hours of
8.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. from where
they proceeded to a drinking joint at
Igalaogba looking for their targets.
Sources said the owner of the joint,
Haruna Achema and his wife were
shot and left critically injured, while
one customer was shot dead by the
cult group
At least eight persons were said to
have been killed at Idah waterside,
while another woman was reportedly
hit by stray bullet as she was
attempting to escape from the scene
of the attack.
However, a detachment of military
personnel had been
deployed in the town and were
patrolling major streets to ensure
safety of lives and properties.
Confirming the development, the
state Police
Commissioner, Mr Yakubu Usman,
said men of the
command were already on the trail of
the perpetrators,
while promising to fish them out.
He explained that a 27-year-old man
was shot on Saturday by some
gunmen in the area, adding that his
remains were taken to the police
station with the cult group resisting
the police.
He said a gun duel ensued between
his men and the
gunmen, following which a policeman
was wounded.
He said as the gunmen were
attempting to escape after the gun
duel, they also hit three innocent
persons who were rushed to
hospital....

Blessing Osakwe, a young girl from poor Nigerian village, was lured into prostitution in Russia
– Most of the Nigerian girls from poor villages brought to Russia for sex work on student’s visas

Deutsche Welle has made investigation into how the Nigerian girls became sex slave in Russia.
Blessing Osakwe has met a woman in her hometown in the south of Nigeria, who told her that there was work for young lady in Russia.
Osakwe was promised to receive a job in a supermarket, and that it would take her only five or six months to earn the money to repay the costs of the visa and the trip. The woman said that after paying back the $40,000, the girl could keep all the money she made.
Nigerian girl said her parents are very poor and that the idea of going to Russia to assist her family and to save money for her education appealed to her and she accepted the proposition.
While girl arrived to Russia Osakwe discovered everything the woman had said was a lie.
Instead of the supermarket job, she was forced to work as a prostitute.
Osakwe was driven around Moscow to have sex with men.
Once, the girl was taken to a flat where one man was seemingly waiting for her. However, later she discovered that there were eight men. The girl was made to sleep with all of them, but rejected to have sex without a condom. The men took back the money they had paid and beat and battered her, threw her from the fourth floor of the building.
Osakwe broke her hip when she hit the ground; he now cannot walk properly and is confined to a wheelchair.
Kenny Kehinde, who works with several Moscow NGOs focused on preventing human trafficking, said that around 2,000-3,000 Nigerian girls – many from poor, remote villages – are brought to Russia every year for sex work.
“This is international modern-day slavery, where the girls are brought here with the help of some Russian government officials, some Nigerian authorities and so-called ‘madams’ [pimps] who exploit these girls for sex in Russia,” he said.
According to him, most of the girls come to Russia on student visas.
Such visas are not easy to obtain as universities must provide supporting material for the applications.

“Ten years ago, it was not such a huge problem as this. Those involved are an international cartel. On a daily basis they are growing and making money out of it,”said Usman Gafai, head of mission at the Nigerian Embassy in Moscow.
Andrew Bogrand of the NGO Democracy International, said that Russia has not shown a full commitment to solve the problem.
“Prosecution, although existent, is very limited. More alarming, according to Russia’s few women’s rights NGOs, is the almost complete lack of shelter space for women who are victims of sex trafficking or domestic violence.
“Corruption and trafficking are inextricably linked – and Russia fares poorly in most corruption indexes,”he said. “As long as the state continues to turn a blind eye to the problem of corruption, trafficking will flourish.”
Blessing Osakwe luckily returned home and hopes to resume her studies. But the time she spent in Russia has changed her life forever.
She writes warning to Nigerian girls:“Stay back home, learn to work. Even though the pay is small, it is much better than coming here to suffer or lose your life.”
Nigeria passed a law in 2003 barring the trafficking in persons and established the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.
However, women and children continue to be transferred within, across and beyond the country for forced labor and sexual or physical exploitation

Following the discontinuation of talks between Ikeja Electric with Labour over the recent disengagement of workers, the union on Monday stormed, barricaded the corporate headquarters and other facilities of the electricity distribution company.

Recall that last month, Labour had picketed the electricity distribution company for three days over the disengagement of workers who failed to meet the company’s performance objectives and were deemed to be performing below standard.

According to the source, two suspected internet fraudster (aka yahoo boys), were nabbed for attempting, to whisk away a girl for the purpose of money ritual in a car booth.
However, names of the alleged culprits were not given, as they were paraded naked before the public. According to the source;

While some food could be indigenous to our nationality, we also have to accept the fact that these foods irritate people from other parts of the world. Although we choose these food types over modern foods, we eat these foods with relish.
Not only do we find dishes like these satisfactory, we also go to any extent trying to get them even though we are on foreign soil.
It is intriguing that the same way we twist and turn our noses at other people’s foods, the same is done to us. In reality, there are certain foods people eat in this part of the continent that are really irritating. Touching these food types is hard enough, seeing people eat them is shocking. These are seen during rainy season and are trapped by lighting up a bulb. The bulb or fluorescent attracts the insects and they fall on the ground. The attack will come not in a local way. So please open your lips and pray for these two nations for protection”he told congregants.
He would however not state whether the said Thursday or Friday or Saturday would be in this month or the next, explaining “not necessarily this week, because it is a battle between the evil spirit and the holy spirit.”
It would be recalled that T.B. Joshua recently claimed he prophesied the terror attack that took place in Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday, March 22, some weeks back.

A 19-year-old young man, Sean Williams, has busted the buttocks of his 26-year-old older lover, Tamela Martin, during sex.

Instead of fighting Christianity El-Rufai should fight poverty
Early this year, the Lord revealed the persecution of the Church from government and this has taken off from Kaduna state. I don’t have personal issues with any governor but I think there are better things for the governor to do in the state instead of fighting Christianity through the law banning the public use of speaker, issuing licence, etc., which are against divine order and the constitution that is supreme to the laws of any state.
People are living in poverty which appears he is less concerned about. If all he can do is to use his first one year in office to fight God, it is very clear that he won’t go far. I am even disappointed that men of God keep quiet at this ungodly manifestation. If we do not stop him now, other northern states will soon join him and this could turn Nigeria into a religious war.
Let me ask a question. Between Christians and Muslims, who caused air pollution more with the use of loud speakers? Christians used loud speakers three times a week, mostly on Sundays. Muslims pray with loud speakers five times daily, meaning 35 times a week. All we have said is no threat but from the presidency to the local government, whoever stands in the way of the church will go for it. All we are telling Kaduna state government by divine order is to revoke the law or it goes for it because most people who put him in power through voting are Christians believing that his tenure will put things right for the state.
