Earlier today, I paid a condolence visit to the residence of my dear friend and brother, Reverend Umai Ukpai, who has gone to be with the Lord. Reverend Umai Ukpai was not just a minister of the gospel, he was a true general in the army of our God, a man of unshakable faith, quiet strength, and uncommon humility. His life was a living sermon, one that spoke louder than words, a story of service, of love for God’s people, and of steadfast devotion to the Kingdom. He has fought the good fight. He has finished his course. And now, he rests in the everlasting arms of the Almighty, where there is no more pain, no more striving: only peace, joy, and glory. To his beloved wife, Pastor Philomena Ukpai, and the entire Ukpai family, we extend our heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathies. May the Lord Himself wrap you in His unfailing love, comfort your hearts, and strengthen you in this valley of loss. My friend has not died, he has only changed address, moving from the field of battle to the presence of his Commander-in-Chief. He is home. He is at rest. He is in the arms of God Almighty. https://www.facebook.com/share/17P2akxd7s/

Melbourne Honours Yoruba Excellence with Yoruba Street Naming Melbourne, Australia — In a proud moment for Nigerians in Australia, the City of Casey in Melbourne has named a new street Yoruba Lane, recognising the positive image, professionalism, and contributions of Yoruba people and the wider Nigerian community to Australian society. Located within one of Melbourne’s most vibrant growth corridors, Yoruba Lane stands as a lasting symbol of cultural pride, diversity, and achievement. The gesture by the Casey City Council reflects the growing influence of the Yoruba community as well as Nigerian professionals and families who have distinguished themselves across various sectors in Australia. Speaking on the development, Chief Abiola Falayajo, a respected community leader and psychiatric clinician based in Melbourne, described the naming as “a proud testament to the Nigerian spirit of excellence and ethos of Yoruba culture of Omoluabi.” “The Yoruba people are known globally for hard work, integrity, and community values. Seeing our name inscribed on a Melbourne street sign fills us with gratitude and reminds us that our contributions are recognised and valued in this great country,” Chief Falayajo said. Prominent local residents and business owners, Mr. and Mrs. Ebenezer and Ndidi Fashogbon, also expressed joy at the development, describing it as “a moment of pride not only for Yoruba people but for all Nigerians living in Australia.” “This recognition reflects how far our community has come. It shows that our culture and positive impact are appreciated here. Yoruba street naming will inspire our children to hold on to their heritage while continuing to contribute meaningfully to their society,” Mrs. Fashogbon said. The Yoruba people -one of Africa’s most culturally rich and globally influential ethnic groups -have built a strong reputation in Australia for excellence in fields including healthcare, education, business, and the creative arts. City officials said the decision aligns with Casey’s ongoing efforts to celebrate multiculturalism and recognise communities that contribute positively to the city’s development and cohesion. With Yoruba Street, the City of Casey has not only acknowledged a people—it has celebrated a legacy of resilience, unity, and excellence that continues to enrich Melbourne’s multicultural identity. -Fairspace News

Payne was murdered in Lagos 119 years ago and the murder still unsolved: John Otunba Payne, born 1839, was a notable Nigerian sheriff and colonial administrator in 19th-century Lagos. He held important registry positions across the Supreme Court of Lagos and various other judicial departments, including the Police Court and Chief Magistrate's Court. Besides his official roles, he kept detailed diaries, providing valuable insight into Lagos life during that period, he also organized first census in Lagos back in 1881 which was then known as the first official census of Lagos. Tragically, Payne was killed at his home in Lagos in 1906 by an unidentified attacker, and the mystery surrounding his death remains unsolved. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17GtAC6xq5/

Davidson1010:You are actually talking from the angle of ignorance. How segregated are the Jewish people? Is their government not Jew-centric? Tell me how many FG and state governments ever carry Christians along. State governments build mosques, pay almajiri, reward handsomely parents that take their children to schools, Pay uztaz and conduct wedding for lazy dickks and puzzies from secular allocations from the South and taxes paid majorly by working and law-abiding Christians. Let the level be ground and you will see actions. Talk is cheap, brother. |
