The divide among the ethnic groups
in Nigeria took another dimension
when yesterday, a tribal war broke
out between the ranks of the
Nigerian Army of the 82 Division
Enugu which saw members of the
Nigerian army in military uniforms
engaging themselves in a bloody
shoot out.
According to the source close to the
82 Division Army Barracks, the
cause of the shooting and killing
which ensued, was as a result of the
ill-treatment meted out on Igbo
soldiers on some frequent
scheduling of tasks and duties
within them.
The source further revealed that the
Nigerian army of the 82 Division,
Enugu was given a mandate to
shortlist about 54 soldiers whom
will be taking up the task to
confront and combat the uprising of
Niger Delta militants in the South-
South geopolitical zone.
It went further to say that the GOC,
Brigadier Gen Ibrahim Attahiru
assigned the duty of shortlisting of
the armies to executive the task to
two commanders who hails from
the Northern and South Western
Nigeria respectively.
But owing to the disunity, nepotism
and tribalism bedeviling the
country, these commanders
shortlisted 'all' the 54 soldiers from
Igbo extraction.
Apparently saddened by the
outcome of the one-sided tribal
arrangement, one of the enlisted
Igbo soldiers confronted the
commanders to question the process
drafted in enlisting only Igbo
soldiers to this mission of death and
perdition. The commander it was
gathered, immediately picked
offence and demanded to know
what gave him the temerity and
audacity to question him, talk more
of conceiving to disobey a military
order.
The said commander in a rage,
pulled out his gun and shot at this
young Igbo soldier on his forehead,
killing him instantly at the spot.
Another Igbo soldier who was
equally among those shortlisted for
the mission, immediately withdrew
his own gun and fired at the
commander, killing him too. He
then subsequently directed his
assault rifle on the second
commander.
It became a battle field as soldiers
all surrendered themselves.
The civilians witnessing the show as
it unfolds all took to their heels.
There would have been a serious
blood bath in 82 Division Enugu
army barracks but due to the timely
intervention of the GOC who calmed
the atmosphere of war, it was
averted.
As at the time of filing this report,
there is no movement around, in
and out of the barracks.
We await for more details.

Port Harcourt A group of armed men believed to be cultists have blown up a gas facility in Akala Olu village, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State for the arrest and continued detention of a suspect, Mr. Emmanuel Odum. The attack on the gas facility, according to a statement signed by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 2 Brigade in Port Harcourt, Captain Eli Lazarus, disrupted production activities of the Nigeria Agip Oil Company. The suspected cultists believed to be members of Icelander cult group had demanded the release of Odum, who was said to be currently undergoing interrogation for his alleged involvement in pipeline vandalisation and cult- related activities. The statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday indicated that the vandals and suspected cultists had also threatened to carry out further attacks on oil and gas installations unless their demands were met. “In the early hours of Sunday February 7, 2016, pipeline vandals destroyed a gas facility in Akala Olu village in Oshie community, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, thereby disrupting the production activities of Nigeria Agip Oil Company. “The vandals threatened to carry out further acts of vandalism unless their demands are met. The vandals are suspected members of Icelander cult group. “The group demanded for the release of a detained suspect; one Mr. Emmanuel Odum currently undergoing interrogation in connection with pipeline vandalism and cult related activities,” the statement from the 2 Brigade read. It, however, warned that that it would not be intimidated into doing the bidding of any group of criminals, cautioning that the Nigerian Army will deal with anybody caught vandalising the nation’s pipelines. It observed that politicians were arming the cult groups and encouraging them with inciting utterances capable of breaching the peace, adding that the Army would not hesitate to deal with such politicians. www.punchng.com/suspected-cultists-blow-up-agip-gas-pipeline-over-suspects-arrest/ |

After five years of painstaking work,
Tribe, the highly anticipated film
directed by multiple-award winning film
maker, Ifeanyichukwu Onyeabo, is ready
to hit the screen.
•A scene from the Tribe
The film coming on the stable of
Igbosteve Pictures will start showing in
the cinemas in Africa and the Diaspora
in the coming weeks.
Described as one of the most audacious
film projects in Nollywood ever, Tribe,
which commenced recording in 2010 in
Ghana, employed the services of actors
and crew members from eight African
countries and Jamaica after a 3-nation
tour for auditions.
The classic African story was set in
Africa about five centuries ago,
employing the basic tenets of African
culture, attitude, and temperaments to
achieve what the African film industry
has been yearning for. According to the
producers, the film highlighted values
and vices that make the African
continent an effervescent hub of
activities, especially in the years of yore.
“From greed, to betrayal, to bravery, to
love, Tribe is a film that has a good
dosage of such emotions in a manner
the cinema lovers would be glued to
their seats. After all the years put into
the work, nobody would expect anything
less than a classic from us. We went
out of our way to get the characters that
will interpret the roles the way we
wanted. That took us to three African
countries: Ghana, Nigeria and Sierra
Leone. After the casting, we also
embarked on another mission of training
the cast to fit into the roles. The film has
very impressive martial arts skills on
display as was typical of the African
society then, so we brought in experts
in this field to train majority of the
actors.”
The action-packed film parades notable
actors including late Peter Bunor
(Nigeria), Fred Amugi (Ghana),
Peachman Akputa (Nigeria), Amanda
Ebeye (Nigeria), Kofi Djabi (Jamaica),
Ekow Blankson (Ghana), Kafui Danku-
Charles-Dean (Liberia) and Williemena
Pinky Appleton (Liberia) alongside over
two hundred actors who traversed the
luscious locations where the film was
shot.

Radio Biafra which has been off the air for some time, is currently streaming live across the Nigerian airwaves without Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). ARRAIGNED: Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, with a Prisons official, at the premises of a Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday. Checks by an online medium, TheCable revealed that the station is live on Tune In, an Internet radio airing across the world. According to the TheCable, “the radio station has hit the airwaves pushing the same message of “freedom of Biafraland” while condemning the happenings in Nigeria, regarded as a Zoo. Radio Biafra is airing from “30 Sandlings Close, Pilkington Road, London, SE11 3SY England, United Kingdom”. When TheCable tuned in, the anchor, who was referred to as the new deputy director of the station, was complaining about the state of power and energy resources in the country. After receiving a call from Nigeria to complain that the radio was not being aired via FM in some parts of south east Nigeria, the anchor responded by saying the problem would be resolved. “There is no problem with our general platform, we would look into it tomorrow. We are not forgetting our leader, Kanu. Lord God almighty, grant our leader protection. Continue to set confusion in the midst of our enemies, grant us total freedom”, he said. Security agents had earlier arrested suspected masterminds of Radio Biafra, and charging its leader to court for treasonable felony. The signals were also reportedly jammed after initial failed attempts, but the station is still broadcasting on the world wide web, after months off air. After it was jammed in 2015, it announced that it had launched another station and promised to launch 50 others. Both Radio Biafra and Biafra 24 radio were live online as at Friday afternoon, while residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers state, were said to be having difficulties accessing the station via local transmission. IPOB released a statement earlier in the week to say: “Right now, we are back on shortwave after Nigerian government spent millions of dollars taxpayers money trying to stop Radio Biafra. “All Biafrans and friends of Biafra can now go to 11600 kHz at 25-meter band to cherish the gospel of truth, Broadcasting time is 8pm London time, 9pm Biafra land time. We are unstoppable because Chukwuka Okike Abiama, Almighty God, is on our side.” www.vanguardngr.com/2016/04/radio-biafra-back-on-air-prays-for-confusion-in-enemies-camp/

The passing of a loved one is definitely
the most difficult experience that
people go through. We have all been
there. Whether be it a relative, a
member of the immediate family, a
friend, a colleague, it’s painful in every
way. The acceptance that they are not
with you physically anymore is
agonizing.
When you are close to someone who
just passed away, there are certain
signs that show you that they are still
with you and watching over you. Most
of the time we do not notice them, but
here, just in case, you will know. 1. You can smell them The scent of a loved one is probably the most common way you’ll know that they are still with you. It can be the way they smell after spraying their favorite perfume, the food they cook, or even the tobacco they smoke. You are lucky if you get to smell them. It means they are sending you a message. 2. You see them in your dreams When we sleep, our subconscious mind is more open to the spirit world and this allows the deceased to interact with us and say what they want to say. Dreams involving the spirits of those who passed away tend to be really realistic. Make sure to pay attention because they may want to tell you something. 3. Your stuff go missing Often times, you will think that you just misplaced a certain item but you know that you only put it in a certain place. When you finally find your stuff, it might be that your departed loved one is just playing a joke on you. Just laugh it off. No need to be scared. 4. You have unusual thoughts There are moments when you feel you are having some thoughts that feel like they are not yours. It could be a sign that your departed loved one is just near you or trying to talk to you. It will feel as if your inner self is talking to you but it is confusing and does not feel like it’s not your internal monologue. 5. Signs during the funeral Do you know that our spirits attend our own funerals? This is according to renowned psychic James Van Praagh. They do it to be able to interact to everyone, comfort them, and relay the message that soon it will be fine. We tend to be so absorbed with the grieving that we do not notice these signs. |

OWERRI—The sustained agitation for a
sovereign state of Biafra appears to be
attracting some attention from foreign
countries, following the visit of the
Phillippian Senate President’s aide,
Lady Cynthia Esgurrna Touraha, to
Owerri.
Biafra protesters
Vanguard gathered that Touraha was a
guest of Imo Bilie Initiative, IBI, a non-
governmental organization that also
champions the cause of ensuring that
Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, gets
justice in Federal High Court, Owerri.
It was also gathered that Touraha was
scheduled to witness the court
proceedings yesterday, in the suit filed
by IBI against the Federal Government.
Confirming this development to
newsmen in Owerri, the President of IBI,
Innocent Amadi, said that Touraha was
in the court to witness the day’s
proceedings.
“We were at the Federal High Court,
Owerri, to keep our date, but we were
told that the court always enjoyed one
week break after the Easter festivities.
Our case has been adjourned to May 2,
2016”, Amadi said.
Explaining their mission in the court,
Amadi said that IBI was stoutly
representing IPOB in the matter,
stressing that the group would employ
legal and diplomatic procedures in
fighting for the sovereignty of Biafra.
“We shall employ legal framework and
diplomatic channels in fighting for the
sovereign state of Biafra,” Amadi
explained.
Answering another question, the IBI
boss lamented that the South East geo-
political zone remains under-developed
and successive administrations seem
not to care.
“The money spent in the construction of
a single bridge in Abuja, can pave many
roads in the South East geo-political
zone,” Amadi said.

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has condemned the arrest of 76 Igbo villagers from Ugwuneshi Autonomous community, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, following a clash between the natives and Fulani herdsmen, saying, “It has gotten to a level that lovers of peace in Nigeria must speak out on this keg of gun powder which the threat that the Fulani herdsmen has become.” No fewer than 76 men from the Ugwuneshi Autonomous community were last Thursday arrested and whisked away by “men in military uniform” after they protested the continued destruction of their crops and farmlands by Fulani herdsmen and their cattle who settled in the area without permission. Reacting to the alleged arrest, Governor Fayose, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said President Muhammadu Buhari should address the killing of Nigerians and destruction of farmlands by the Fulani herdsmen. The governor, who called for the immediate and unconditional release of the 76 Igbo villagers, said the President Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC) federal government must not give impression that the Fulani herdsmen were lords in other people’s lands. Governor Fayose said the Fulani herdsmen were giving impression that they now own Nigeria and could perpetrate any crime and get away with it. He said: “It is worrisome that the Fulani herdsmen that killed over 400 Agatus in Benue State, raped women and destroyed farmlands in the North Central, South West and South South zones of Nigeria are walking the streets free while Igbo people, who opted to defend their sources of livelihood are languishing in detention. “Are they saying that those Igbo villagers do not have rights to defend their farmlands from further destruction by the Fulani herdsmen when the president who should defend them is keeping silent? “These people must be released by whichever security agency of the federal government that is holding them because Nigerians don’t deserve to be treated like slaves in their own house. www.vanguardngr.com/2016/03/protest-against-fulani-herdsmen-fayose-condemns-arrest-of-76-igbo-villagers/ |

The leader of the Indigenous People of
Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu in the
interview granted to Ejike Ofoegbu from
Family writers speaks about the Biafra
issue.
Speaking on why he decided to restore
Biafra Kanu said: “First. It was not a
choice I made to restore Biafra, it was a
call from the must high Chiukwu
Okikiabiama to lead his people out from
the contraption called Nigeria, which
have no meaning, what so ever. And I
have dedicated my life to get Biafra or I
die trying to restore Biafra. The reason
why my mother gave birth to me, is to
restore and save Biafrans.”
He added: “The Biafran race will be
cleaned up from the face of the earth,
you will come back home, if you are
living outside the country, you will no
longer no the road to your fathers land.
“How can I encourage my people to
work towards the upbringing of Nigeria,
when we don’t hear the same language,
we don’t eat the same food, we don’t
have the same culture, in fact if I come
to their land to practice my culture.. I
will be beheaded. Their women wear hi-
jab, and Biafran women don’t, and on
the point that our women don’t wear hi-
jab, they will be seen as infidels, and on
that note will be beheaded. We are 100
% Christian. This people are Muslims
who see killing as a culture.. From
where I came from, it hard for my
people to kill a human being, because in
my language human being is called
Mmadu which means the beauty of life,
now you see it will never work, the only
solution is Biafra.”
Kanu further stated that there is no
regret in his dictionary, adding that he is
ready to spend a thousand years in a
prison.
“I said and will continue to say that, is
either the flag of Biafra is raised up, or I
am lowered in the grave, ” the Biafra
leader noted.
While being asked what he wants to say
his supporters, Kanu said: “ProBiafra
means supporters of Biafra, we are
Biafrans, so I can’t be a supporter of
Biafra. And also we are not trying to
secede from Nigeria. We are older than
Nigeria. You can only talk about
seceding if Biafrans are they ones that
colonized Nigeria. But we are older than
that contraption. So we can’t secede
rather we just want to go back the way
we were before the British came. It is
Biafra or death, even Buhari knows
that…”
Kanu, who is a dual British-Nigerian
citizen, was arrested in Lagos in
October by Nigerian intelligence agents
during a visit from London. He leads the
IPOB, a separatist movement calling for
the independence of the southeastern
territories that made up Biafra in the late
1960s.
The Biafra leader denied all six of the
charges against him, which include
treasonable felony, a charge that carries
a possible life sentence.
He wrote to the British government
asking to press President Buhari to
release him from the custody.
