Nairaland / General / Without Power Nigeria Will Emerge World Capital Of Poverty –NSE President by hobbex: 2:44pm On Oct 09, 2018
On account of the absence and inadequacy of power to drive activities, economic watchers are daily painting a gloomy picture of the situation ahead, with the warning to our government to avert the imminent emergence of our country as the world capital of poverty.

The President, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr Adekunle Mokuolu warned during the 14th International Conference and Exhibition on Power and Telecommunications, ICEPT in Port Harcourt. According to Engr Adekunle Mokuolu, access to reliable power must be achieved because it is achievable. He said that Nigeria is richly endowed with all the energy resources.
He mentioned that meaningful action plan on our energy value chain is urgently required, for us to halt the pulling out of investments from our economy to other jurisdictions with stable power.

As part of Nigerian Society of Engineers’ contribution to driving tNigeria”s Infrastructure revolution, NSE developed the first and second editions of the Nigerian Infrastructure Report. The NSE president therefore called on all stakeholders to support the Federal Government in the achievement of its agenda in the sector.

” In Nigeria, in the judicial branch of government, we have seen this happened. In my own state, Cross River State, the Chief Judge who is the current one was appointed on acting capacity and when his tenure expired, he was again appointed on acting capacity. So, trying to blackmail the president over this is bad

So because it happened in your state and it's happening now, doesn't make it right, let the right thing be done

Politics / Nigerian International President by hobbex: 10:05am On Jun 03, 2016
NIGERIAN INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT
President Muhammadu Buhari has celebrated his first year in office on May 29, 2016, since he was inaugurated, Buhari has made about 30 foreign trips to different countries in what he explained as his effort to advance Nigeria’s national interests. Buhari’s numerous trips become an outstanding feature of his foreign policy management. According to the presidency, these trips were intended to secure international support to implement the cardinal progarmmes of his government which comprise the fight against the insurgency and maintenance of the nation’s security; the fight against corruption and many others
However, many Nigerians criticised the president for his frequent trips, because of the current economic situation in the country. Below are the list of Nigerian states President Buhari has visited since he has been sworn in:

1. Katsina state (June, September 2015, May 2016) Daura is the home town of the president. So, there is no wonder that Buhari has been here for three times during the last year. Barely after the inauguration had he paid a courtesy visit to Emir of Daura, Umar Farouk in June, 2015. In September last year the president also visited Katsina state. Several weeks ago Buhari declared open and participated in the Katsina state Economic and Investment Summit, aimed at diversifying the state’s ailing economy.

2. Kaduna state (June 2015) President Buhari was welcomed by a crowd of supporters while he arrived in Kaduna state for the state visit last June.

3. Cross River (October 2015) The Nigerian president attended the ceremony for the construction of the 260km dual carriage road to link Calabar to Northern Nigeria

4. Adamawa State (November 2015): President Buhari in November 2015 visited Makhio IDP camp in Yola, Adamawa State.

5. Ogun state (February 2016) Buhari visited Ogun state in February in commemoration of the state’s 40th anniversary celebration.

6. Lagos state: (May 2016) The leader of the nation was scheduled to visit the Lagos state for a two-day working visit in May,but cancelled the
trip with a report suggesting that he has an ear infection.

7. Ogoni (RiverSate, June 2016); once again the number one Citizen cancel his trip for the schedule kick off of Clean-up of Ogoni land but rather represented by the Vice, this time around reasons not giving, but suggestion are based on the treat to his live by the Niger Delta Avengers.

Here is a list of the countries President Buhari visited in his first year as president.
1. Niger Republic, June 3, 2015.
2. Chad Republic, June 4 2015.
3. Germany, June 2015.
4. South Africa, June 2015
5. United States of America, July 2015
6. Cameroon, July 29, 2015.
7. Benin Republic, August 1 2015.
8. Ghana, September 2015.
9. France, September 2015.
10. USA, September 2015.
11. India, October 27 2015
12. Sudan, October 2015.
13. Iran, November 2015.
14. France, November 2015.
15. Malta, November 2015
16. South Africa, December 2015
17. Benin Republic, December 2015
18. United Arab Emirates, January 2016
19. Kenya, January 2016.
20. Ethiopia, January 2016.
21. France, February 2016.
22. United Kingdom, February 2016
23. Egypt, February 2016.
24. Saudi Arabia, February 2016.
25. Qatar, February 2016
26. Equatorial Guinea, March 2016
27. USA, March 2016.
28. China, April 2016.
29. United Kingdom, May 2016.

President Muhammadu Buhari had made 5 National trip in 1 year, but has to his belt 29 international trip. It is therefore right to say that we have an International President, who is more free on the International scene that the local, and from my observation the president made more speech outside the country than when he is in the country.
What your take on this!!!

Politics / FG May Reduce Petrol To N85/litre January 1 by hobbex: 5:45am On Dec 26, 2015
Okechukwu Nnodim, Abuja
The Federal Government may reduce the pump price of petrol to N85 per litre from January 1, 2016.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, made this disclosure to journalists at the Port Harcourt Refining Company, Rivers State, after inspecting the plant.
Asked when the Federal Government would release the new petrol price template prepared by the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulation Agency, Kachikwu said that he approved the new price for the agency on Thursday.
Pressed to reveal when the new price would become effective, Kachikwu, said “like I said, we have done a modulation and it is showing us below N87. I imagine that if PPPRA publishes it today, it will become effective immediately. But the 1st of January 2016 is when we are looking at.”
He said the new price would be below the current N87 per litre and it would now convince Nigerians that the pricing modulation that the Federal Government promised to embark on a few days ago was not a trick.
He said, “It (the template) is out, I signed off on it yesterday (Thursday). I imagined that in the next couple of days the marketers would get advice on that. The nice thing about the PPPRA, where I signed up on it yesterday is that the price will be far below N87. So for the first time people will understand that the pricing modulation I was talking about is not a gimmick. It is for real.
“We have gone to find out how we will be able fluctuate this market to reflect what the reality of crude market is. The objective is that one, we cannot afford to continue to subsidise. We can’t even understand where those subsidies were going to. There are a lot of fraud elements in it so we need to cut that of.”
He stated that from the applicable market realities for the pricing modulation, government discovered that petrol would sell for either N85 or N86 per litre.
Kachikwu said, “But in applying that where we landed when we did the analysis for the very first time was about N85 or N86, so it is below N87. And maybe the first price that will come will reflect it. That was why Mr. President said that the price will be N87 for now. And that is what we have in mind.”
