nitrogen: This should be our season, no one is sure about next season. Meanwhile, it was possible to not get points against top 4 teams and still the league, but these days, we have top 5/6, need to get some points off the big boys. I see folks playing ostrich here, pretending like wins against big boys don't matter. I'm wondering where it last happened that you didn't beat amy of your rovals and still went on to win the title. |

Lana1: We brushed City 3 times last season and they still knocked us out again in another SF this year. So much for psychological dominance.
As for me, i only care about seeing my team win games and the trophies that follow. Fair enough. But City was steadily doubling us while winning titles too. Remember that. I still maintain that the United side we see today lacks enough consistency to make it a real title contender. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by hoopLA: 8:14pm On Jan 17, 2021 |
CapitalCee: Its good to beat them, but now we didn't and its not an awful result, we can beat them at Old Trafford. Getting 4 points out of 6 from your nearest rival is a good result. The 2 seasons that City won the league they didn't beat Liverpool at Anfield. The reason we have not beaten any so xalled big teams is because of our early season form which is understandable It's not an awful result. It just sounds and seems to me like Ole was playing for the draw, with his tactics and selection. An out of sorts Rashfird starts centrally, pushing Martial out wide, and Cavani on the bench. Then the double pivot of McTominay & Fred. |

nitrogen: Liverpool’s last 3 EPL games were sh1t. They lost to Sou, and played draws against Newcastle and Westbrom. But then, we should respect them.
Liverpool is shyte right now, any club in the EPL can take points off them. But United habe beaten all three teams you listed up there. Surely it's not too hard to ask a United squad on an upward curve to get a win over Liverpool struggling against mostly base opposition,is it? You're actually making my argument for me. If Liverpool is trash right now,United shouldve beaten them, according to your logic. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by hoopLA: 8:08pm On Jan 17, 2021 |
CapitalCee: A point at Anfield is a fantastic result. With little more luck we would have won. Look at the league table, that rubbish statistics of winning big teams is generated by rival fans to see what to hold on to. If you win the league, nobody cares who you win. Thats a half-full perspective. That means we cant really separate ourselves from everyone else who's gone to Anfield. Which means we really can't point to something that makes us different. I do not feel it's rubbish if you beat your nearest rivals. Its called consistency, and thats what wins league titles. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by hoopLA: 8:04pm On Jan 17, 2021 |
Lana1: Maybe in the days of SAF. But even him didn't always beat the top 4 teams home and away every year.
The team seems to be moving in a positive direction. The top 6 wins will come sooner or later. Not disagreeing with you. But beating your title rivals still remains one way of at least getting a psychological edge over them. |

KingAlabi: How was Liverpool vulnerable?
When last did they loose a league game at HOME Injured players out. Dropping points in recent matches with patchy form of individuals. Let's start there Lol. We talk like Anfield is some kind of fortress. West Brom took points from them there 2 weeks ago. |

Lana1: We beat all the top 6 teams very well during LVG's time. It ended in 5th.
We beat them last season as well. Ended in trophyless.
I'll take not beating any top 6 team and winning the league to beating them and ending trophyless.
besides, were you expecting an easy ride at Anfield in the 1st place? Maybe so. But conversely we've consistently beaten the big boys and won the trophy. So I'd say it's pretty much a marker of a championship winning side. Funny thing is,we both can't make this argument till season's end. |

KingAlabi: Nothing can satisfy a United fan My guy I'm pained. We might want to see the "positives" but we are not Positives FC aka Chelsea. I feel we are being mediocre for getting a point. This game was WINNABLE. And it feels to me more like 2 points dropped than 1 gained, especially when we realize Liverpool were not at their best. The first half was an eyesore. They improved in the second but I'm guessing they could've played better overall. |

It's games like these that makes me believe we can't win this title.
Liverpool at their most vulnerable but we kept looking like we were scared to take the game to them except towards the end.
And then somehow Rashford completed the game, despite offering a steaming pile of monkey dung as a performance.
As for Ole,nothing left to be said. |

Smellymouth: When a player is your club's main penalty taker, it kind of means quite a few of his goals will be penalties...
Why are you scared to talk about his chances created and assists?
Why are you also not talking about havertz billed as the great creator that would transform Lampard’s rag-tag team of inconsistent hillbillies into champions elect? Kai has created just 10 chances all season... Bruno Fernandes has created 50.
I know you ain't ready for this fact but sorry bros, bruno has been the best midfielder in The league since he arrived.

Karleb: Believe has never won a league.
As it stands, we are in the title race but I'm not carried away by what we have on the table though.
In the next ten games, the table might become a mess. Not buying the title contender thing just yet. The club as it stands has a deficit of balance through it. Inconsistent displays across board, including Bruno, though his quality shines by him getting the odd assist or goal. We haven't beaten any of City,Chelsea,Spurs or Arsenal AT HOME. Big no no for me. I'm just hoping they can get some consistency in their performances and stop conceding first and putting two decent halves of football together. I'd rather be cautious and optimistic on the chances of the squad, even though as noted here we SHOULD be challenging given that we are on an upward curve in terms of table finishes. That doesnt mean we should write off their chances of a title push altogether. The squad personnel on paper is decent enough to at least force a semblance if a race. But our dear Ole is one selection and/or tactical brain fart away from pissing everything away as he tends to do in the big moments. And that is my biggest worry |
