Education / The Story: The_game_changer_1 by Hopfulme(m): 8:06am On May 12, 2019
The_Game_Changer_1

I could hear their voices far back behind me as i trotted towards the tall wall fence surrounding one of largest prisons in the country. My crew staying back where i had my truck parked.
This is one of the times when I felt i had to do it all alone, i didnt need anyone to do a damn thing for me.
Another look at the tall wall fence make me feel proud instead of discouraged. It seemed it was in my nature to love being in a challange and there was no way i was going to let someone beat me out of the challenge and make me think low of myself even for a second.
" okey boy come on you can do this" i sighed removing some items from the small back pack i had put on my shoulder.
Quickly i worked on the rope and a hook tieing them together firmly and pulled it hard to make sure it was intact and won't send me back down from the top. That was the least on my expectations as i still believed i had a large number of years to live and having broken libs wasn't in my plan.
Satisfied, i threw the rope to the top with every strength in my muscles and pulled it to test its grip.
" great!" I shouted in my heard with gladness.
I took a quick right and left look making sure i had no unwanted audience, i relaxed happy i won't need to kill anyone before i had my mission accomplished.
The exciting part was climbing up the tall wall fence, in my head i laughed at who ever had it built. " you thought you could keep people out of this shit! Well i got news for you whoever the fu*k you are! I aren't no prisoner nor mare man. Am a leopard snatched from the darkest of hell! " I whispered as i pulled myself further up approaching the electrified wires up the top of the wall fence.
A few steps up i held one hand on the rope and used my other one to give a beep to my man inside. I looked at my watch and waited counting the seconds. My feet holding firmly as i tried to balance my body to the rope in my hand, feeling gravity pulling me down but thankfully the hook was well stationed it kept me in place. .
" one, two, three, four, five! Come on! " i talked to myself impatiently. I was almost losing my temper and thinking of how i was going to chop the guy i had given prio instructions to follow, then i saw the entire area go dark.
" good boy!" I pulled myself up and touched the wires with my thick groves making sure there was no current lest the son of Bit*h decides to get everything wrong.
Counting seconds in my head i jumped over the burbed wires instantly finding myself over the other side and used my rope slipping down and my face lit with lights at the count of another 5 seconds. I felt my shoes touch the sharp plants planted around. Thank God i hard it all planned out. My thick trousers enabled me to pat my way through them. Without further delay i was inside and looked around for any signs of guards.
I saw one moving to my direction and i squat down dodging his sight. He was almost reaching my position and i held my silencer ready to put him out should he decide to play hero, luck for him he turned back right a couple of steps away from me.
" go on boy, you doing great!" I whispered in my head.
Finding my way to the point my inside man had hiden a guard (prison warder) uniform,i quickly changed pulling it on and placing the ballet on my head and walking towards the front like i was one of them.
" good evening sir!" One of the guards at the entrance greeted me in salutation, i smiled in my head before responding.
" good evening surgent!, open the gate i have an inmate to check on. Some urgent issues" i added my hoarse voice full of exaggerated command.
" yes sir!" He responded and the gate clicked as it opened giving me a way in. The guard at the desk was dozing as i got towards him and he flinched up seeing my ranks.
" sir!" He saluted as usual with the coward surgent's atitude not looking into my face.
I shook my head, " idiot your boss is gone." I shouted in my mind and smiled passing him. I had to pose as one of the top guys at the prison so that day i had given him a forced leave, kidnapping and hiding him somewhere safe until i was done.
" open cell number 109!" I ordered.
" any problems sir? " he asked
" should i explain my self to you surgent?" I inquired.
" no sir, its just that its quiet late sir" he answered.
" a soldier has no time limit to work surgent. This is urgent i need to interrogate prisoner number 208. " i added calmly and composed myself giving him some signed fake documents in my hand. I had wished not to use them but the idiot was going to make things hard for me so i had to follow standard procedure.
" carry on sir, he's all yours!" He smiled trying to get a glimpse of my face but i kept to the side of the shadow and made sure he read the name on the uniform instead.

Politics / Election Postponement Shocking And Disappointing, Says Saraki by Hopfulme(m): 9:56pm On Feb 16, 2019
The Senate President and Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, Bukola Saraki, has described the last-minute postponement of Presidential and National Assembly elections as disappointing.

In a statement, Senator Saraki said the decision by INEC has caused a great inconvenience to many Nigerians who were poised to vote for their choice as president and federal legislators.

He deplored the fact that issues of logistics and related matters were blamed for postponement after all the preparations by the commission, the security services and other agencies of government.

“Waiting till just a few hours to the commencement of voting before announcing the postponement of elections is extremely sad. Nobody can quantify the difficulty that this will bring to people at every level,” he stated.

While empathizing with youth corps members already deployed for the elections, as well as other Nigerians whose businesses were put on hold because of the no movement order, Senator Saraki said,
“I want to appeal to Nigerians not to be deterred, discouraged or disappointed. They must continue to be strong and determined to cast their votes for their preferred candidates.”

He appealed to Nigerians to ignore the temporary setback caused by the postponement of the polls and go out next Saturday to exercise their franchise.

Senator Saraki also urged the government and INEC to focus on the way forward and ensure that the elections take place as rescheduled and avoid a repeat of what happened on Saturday.

Sports / BREAKING: Man City Humiliate Chelsea 6-0 To Go Top Of Premier League by Hopfulme(m): 11:03pm On Feb 10, 2019
Sergio Aguero grabbed a hat-trick as Manchester City scored four times inside 25 minutes to thrash Chelsea 6-0 and leapfrog Liverpool again to top spot in the Premier League on goal difference on Sunday.

Aguero should have had even more than three as the Argentine missed a glorious early chance and hit the bar in the second-half in a humiliating afternoon for Maurizio Sarri’s men.

Raheem Sterling started and ended the scoring and Ilkay Gundogan also netted in the first quarter of the game as City ended what could have been a testing week with a trip to Everton in between the visits of Arsenal and Chelsea with maximum points.

Jurgen Klopp’s men maintain the advantage of a game in hand, but handed a reprieve by Liverpool’s draws against Leicester and West Ham in recent weeks, City look determined to become the first side in a decade to retain the Premier League.

Chelsea on the other hand slip to sixth with the scale of the defeat sure to raise further doubts over Sarri’s future.

A 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth in their last away game was Chelsea’s heaviest league defeat since 1996.

And this was their worst loss in any competition since 1991 after failing to recover from Sterling’s fourth-minute opener.

Eden Hazard went to sleep from Kevin de Bruyne’s quickly taken free-kick and Bernardo Silva had acres of space to cross for the England international to fire home.

Pep Guardiola had described this match as a “final” for his side given that Chelsea had a week to prepare, while City ground out a 2-0 win at Everton on Wednesday.

Guardiola fell to the floor in exasperation when Aguero somehow side-footed wide with his easiest chance of the game moments later.
But the Catalan coach need not have worried that would prove a costly miss as Aguero made amends in stunning fashion by blasting into the top corner from 25 yards to double City’s after just 13 minutes.

Aguero had a simple task to make it 3-0 six minutes later when he pounced on Ross Barkley’s slack header towards his own goal.
And Gundogan’s shot from the edge of the area then had too much power for the world’s most expensive goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to compound Chelsea’s woes.

Such was the defensive collapse at the other end, Gonzalo Higuain had little chance to shine but the Argentine striker was unfortunate not to score his third goal in as many league starts for Chelsea when Ederson turned over his dipping volley five minutes before the break.

That was as much of a response as Chelsea mustered, though, and it only got worse for Sarri’s chances of keeping his job in the second period.

Aguero missed his first chance to seal a second hat-trick in two games when he headed against the crossbar.

But when Sterling was too quick for Cesar Azpilicueta and chopped down by the Spaniard inside the area, Aguero coolly slotted home from the penalty spot to move level with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah as the Premier League’s top scorer on 17 for the season.

Even after Aguero went off to a standing ovation, City’s strength in depth shone through as Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez and David Silva came off the bench.

And Silva’s pass opened the visitors up again for the sixth as he picked out Oleksandr Zinchenko who crossed for Sterling to tap home.

Sports / Champions League: Okocha Tips PSG To Win Trophy by Hopfulme(m): 9:29pm On Feb 09, 2019
Former Super Eagles captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, has said his former club Paris Saint-Germain, will win the Champions League soon.

Despite heavy investment in recent years from the club’s Qatari ownership, PSG have not made it past the Champions League quarter-finals, since they were knocked out at the semi-final stage in the 1994/1995 edition.

Okocha, however, remains confident that the Ligue 1 has what it takes to win the prestigious title.
“I have no doubt that [at] some point they will win the Champions League, [it] is [a] matter of when.
“You know because not just as a former player of PSG, I’m [a] big fan of the club too, and I also put pressure on the team to try and win the Champions League because that is the only thing I believe that the club is missing for now.

“I think they brought some players to help the younger [players] believe that is possible. And for me maybe that is the little thing that is missing: belief that they can do it.

“And once they win the first one, I think that won’t be that difficult again,” Okocha told Goal.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Can Sarri Take Solace In Guardiola's Slow Start At Man City? by Hopfulme(m): 1:25pm On Feb 09, 2019
Pep Guardiola and Maurizio Sarri share a mutual admiration and style of play, but as Chelsea visit Manchester City on Sunday, Sarri is also following Guardiola’s experience of a difficult first year in England.

Long forgotten now after romping to the Premier League with a record 100 points last season, City suffered some serious growing pains in Guardiola’s debut campaign.

Despite preparing for the Catalan’s arrival for years with the hire of his former Barcelona colleagues Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain, City scraped into the top four in 2016/17 by just three points thanks to winning their final four league games.

Sarri acknowledged on Friday a return to Champions League football next season is Chelsea’s target with a 12-point gap to City and Liverpool too big to bridge for the title.

The Blues enter the weekend holding onto fourth by two points from a surging Manchester United with Arsenal just a point further back.

That lead could be gone by kick-off at the Etihad, though, with United and Arsenal visiting the bottom two sides in the division Fulham and Huddersfield respectively on Saturday.

Yet, hope does exist for Chelsea should Sarri learn the same lessons Guardiola did after his first experience of the harsh winter months in English football.

Sarri did not suffer defeat for his first 18 games in charge until late November.

A run of five losses in 12 Premier League matches, most notably a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Bournemouth last month, has since taken the shine off the Italian’s reputation.

Guardiola won his first 10 games in all competitions as City boss before things started to unravel.
A 2-0 win at Everton on Wednesday night that took City back to the top of the table on goal difference came almost two years to the day since his side were thrashed 4-0 at Goodison Park.

“People believe we arrive with good players, good clubs and everything immediately must work,” said Guardiola on Friday of Sarri’s current predicament.

“Sometimes you need more time but I think the season from Chelsea is exceptional.”

‘There is a gap’

Unfortunately for Sarri he may not be allowed the time Guardiola was afforded given the lengths City went to secure his signature and also the trigger happy culture at Chelsea under Roman Abramovich.

“We need to work. Guardiola is in his third season in the Premier League, (Liverpool manager, Jurgen) Klopp his fourth or fifth,” said Sarri on Friday.

“You have to be more competitive in the market or you need to work. We have to work and try to reduce the gap because at the moment there is a gap.”

The reference to the transfer market may prove another significant difference.

Guardiola was allowed over £250 million ($323 million) in transfer fees alone to transform his squad for last season on the likes of Ederson, Kyle Walker, Aymeric Laporte, Bernardo Silva.

Sarri is unlikely to be handed that sort of war chest to work with, but the former Napoli boss does finally have the striker he wanted after being reunited with Gonzalo Higuain in January.

The Argentine made an instant impact with his first two goals in just his second Premier League appearance in a 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield last weekend to right the Chelsea ship after the Bournemouth debacle.

Higuain should not only add much needed firepower and a focal point to a Chelsea attack that had become toothless, but his presence also allows Eden Hazard to return to his preferred role on the left of the attack, from where he also scored twice against Huddersfield.

“He’s very useful for Eden and they are really very suitable to play together,” added Sarri.
Should Higuain and Hazard continue to hit it off, it will give Sarri some badly needed breathing space to try and follow Guardiola’s lead by coming good in his second season.

Education / Students Express Mixed Feelings Over Suspension Of ASUU Strike by Hopfulme(m): 1:24pm On Feb 08, 2019
Some university students have expressed mixed reactions following the suspension of the three-month old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Students (ASUU).

ASUU strike
Reports have it that the strike was suspended on Thursday, Feb. 7, after a conciliatory meeting between ASUU and representatives of the Federal Government led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige.

The lecturers had demanded for the implementation of agreement entered into by the government with the union, including university revatilisation fund and earned allowances.

Some Nigerian students who took to Twitter to express their opinion said the action was a tactic to deceive youths because of the coming elections.

@iniobong tweeted: “How ASUU strike has not been a dominant issue in the ongoing presidential campaigns shows how unconcerned we all are about our shoddy education system.”

@oheng2000 said “As much as I like the fact that #ASUU has called off its strike, personally I think this is wrong timing. One week to election? Are they looking for ways to get students back to school and use them for election thuggery? Students shine your eyes ooo. Don’t be used.”

@Mayowasam1999 said “It is really a good step by the government, but we all know if there were no elections they won’t attend to it. I just pray we don’t go back to where we’re coming from after the election.”

Meanwhile, others expressed readiness to return to school.

@Bams_Jnr tweeted: “ASUU has finally called off the strike, yay!”

@Tchinedvu tweeted: “Finally ASUU strike is over, I can now finish this 400L in peace.”

Nifemi Adebowale, who just gained admission into the Federal University of Technology, Akure told NAN he was happy to finally start his university education, as his peers in other institutions were now ahead of him.

“My parents advised me to start working to keep myself busy till the strike is called off.

“My peers are now in their 100L second semester while I am just about to start my university journey.

“I am just happy that finally, I can resume school since I gained admission into the university last year,” he said.

Meanwhile, ASUU said if the Federal Government fail to fulfill its part of the agreement as reflected in the 2019 memorandum of Action, it would resume its suspended strike.

Education / ASUP Strike: Chapters To Decide On Suspension Strike by Hopfulme(m): 7:53am On Feb 08, 2019
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has directed its members in all chapters to hold a referendum on suspension of the ongoing strike in the nation’s polytechnics.

Mr Usman Dutse, ASUP National President, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos that the referendum would hold between this week and next week.
He said that the referendum was to assess the Federal Government’s efforts at ending the lingering strike in polytechnics.

“The union had received some proof and documents as requested from the Federal Government to back up its claim of payment of N16.4 billion as salary shortfalls.
“Although the union has not received all documents, it has resolved and directed all chapters to hold referendum between now and next week, as that will decide the next line of action.
“They have given us some of the documents, proof but not all. We are going to the ministry now to pursue somethings.

“After the referendum, the National Executive Council will meet to decide next line of action,” he said.
NAN reports that Malam Adamu Adamu, Minister of Education, had on Jan. 31, in Abuja said the Federal Government had released N16.4 billion to settle outstanding salary arrears of staff in the country’s tertiary institutions.
He also said another N30 billion had been raised as revitalisation funds.

Adamu said this during the “Sixth edition of the Ministerial Press Briefing” that disbursement was ongoing through the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to solve issues and demands raised by ASUU and ASUP.
Adamu said that the government had resolved all issues and awaits the academic unions to also call off their strike in the coming days, especially ASUU and ASUP.
ASUP has since denied receipt of any payment, either by document or proof of the said N16.4 billion by the Federal Government.

The union commenced its indefinite strike on Dec. 12, 2018, following the failure of government to meet various agreement reached with the union since 2009.

Educational Services / Breaking: Finally, ASUU Strike To End As Union Reaches Deal With FG by Hopfulme(m): 10:41pm On Feb 07, 2019
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has officially suspended a strike it commenced three months ago.
The union directed university lecturers to resume duty from tomorrow, February 12.
The suspension of the strike was announced on Thursday evening after a meeting with between the ASUU leadership and a government delegation led by labour minister, Chris Ngige.
The ASUU delegation was led by its president, Abiodun Ogunyemi, who announced the suspension of the strike.
At the meeting, a memorandum of action was signed by the two parties.
Mr Ngige had earlier said the government had resolved the eight contentious issues that led to the strike. He said some of the items have been implemented.

Mr Ngige said the union agreed with the government that N25 billion naira will be released for the revitalization of public universities.
He said visitation panels have been constituted and will commence work on March 2.
ASUU embarked on an indefinite strike on November 4, 2018, following government’s failure to implement the agreement reached with the union in November 2016.

Reason For Ending Strike
In announcing the suspension of the strike, Mr Ogunyemi read a prepared speech detailing the agreements the union reached with the federal government.
He listed eight items contained in the agreement signed by ASUU and the federal government.
“In addition to the N20 billion for 2018, the sum of N25 billion only would
be released in April/May 2019, after which government would resume
full implementation of the MoU of 2013,” Mr Ogunyemi said.

Read the full speech by the ASUU president below.
Friends and compatriots of the Press, On Sunday, 4th November, 2018, the Academic Staff Union of Universities
(ASUU) resumed its strike action which was conditionally suspended on 14th September, 2017.
The action of 2017 was suspended following the signing of a Memorandum of Action (MoA) in which the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) promised to address the contentious issues within a timeline that was to end in October 2017. While announcing the suspension of the nationwide action, however, our Union made it categorically clear that “ASUU will not hesitate to review its position should government renege on the signed Memorandum of Action”. Predictably, Government implemented the MoA in the breach, thereby forcing ASUU to resume the suspended strike action.
Comrades and compatriots, as we have always argued, the last thing ASUU members love doing is to cause disruption in smooth intellectual engagements with colleagues, friends and students right on our university campuses. This has nothing to do with the dubious advertorial of “non-disruption of academic calendar” by proprietors and administrators of some cash-and-carry universities and other self-styled enemies of ASUU. Rather, it is about deep-seated pains members of the Union undergo to prevent strike actions and the equally painful consequences strike
situations bring to all who are genuinely averse to the mercantile disposition to university education.

Hazard revealed on Wednesday that he had “made a decision” on his future, but failed to confirm he would be staying at Stamford Bridge.

Real’s interest in the forward has been clear for two years, and this summer, the Spanish giants could be willing to part with either Isco or Marco Asensio to get the transfer done.

It remains to be seen which one of those players Chelsea would be willing to accept as part of a deal should they be offered.

The Blues have reportedly informed Real Madrid that the club has set Hazard’s price tag at over £100million.

Politics / Polls: Be Mindful Of Rotation Principle, Group Tells Deltans by Hopfulme(m): 4:02pm On Feb 07, 2019
By Festus Ahon and Ochuko Akuopha

ASABA – DELTA North Unity Initiative, has urged Deltans to be mindful of the prevailing principle of rotation in the state, saying those against the second term bid of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa were on the losing side.

The group, in a statement by its President, Chief Emmanuel Ehikwe, said: “No individual or a political party’s ambition should override or jeopardize the collective peace, unity, and equity of the component districts and groups of our beloved state.

“It is an established fact that in Delta State there is an unwritten arrangement among altruistic political leaders and principal stakeholders that power, as symbolised by the governorship seat, shall rotate among the three senatorial zones of the state, namely Central, North and South.

“The power rotation principle, which became operational during the administration of the second Executive Governor of the state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori was conceived as a deliberate policy to uphold equity, unity, harmony, and balance among the three component senatorial districts of the state.

“Since then, the principle has been expertly applied by stakeholders and political gladiators as a silent lever to inculcate a sense of belonging among all Deltans and forestall marginalisation or exclusion of any of the three senatorial districts.

“The history of Delta State clearly shows that Dr Okowa is the first and only elected governor from Delta North Senatorial District. It is on record that the people of Delta North Senatorial District, in the spirit of fair play and harmony, faithfully supported Chief Ibori from Delta Central Senatorial District and Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan (Delta South Senatorial District) during their respective elections and eight-year tenures as governors of Delta State.

Saying that Governor Okowa had not disappointed the people of the state, the statement said: “When the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the guidelines for political activities, we had expected that all the major political parties in the state would have taken cognizance of sensibilities in the state and the need for equity in the choice of their governorship candidates.

“While the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and many other parties adhered to the existing understanding on power rotation in the state, we were disappointed that some political parties in the state threw caution and equity overboard by picking their gubernatorial candidates from outside Delta North Senatorial District where the position has been zoned.

“We seriously frown at such deviant actions as deliberate attempts to short-change the people of Delta North Senatorial District and truncate the peace and harmony in the state. We call on all well-meaning Deltans to join in condemning the insensitive and destabilizing act of those seeking to violate the existing power rotation principle in the state.

“Anybody who is conversant with the ideals of good governance will not find it difficult to discover that Dr. Okowa is truly working for the good of all Deltans and that explains why his public approval rating keeps rising.

“Devoid of sentiments or partisanship, we are hereby calling on all Deltans to support and rally round Dr Okowa for a resounding victory in the March 2 governorship election because doing so is in the best interest of Delta State”.

Chelsea have informed Real Madrid that the club has set Eden Hazard’s price tag at over £100million, the Evening Standard reports.

Hazard is out of contract in 2020 and will have 12 months remaining on his existing deal this summer.

The Belgian star revealed this week that he had made a decision on his future, but refused to confirm whether he will sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge, or pursue his dream move to the Bernabeu.

Reports on Tuesday suggested Hazard had made his mind up on a move to Madrid and it is believed the Blues will demand a record-breaking fee for the player.

Despite the fact that he will have just a year left on his contract, Chelsea reportedly want over £100m to allow Hazard to leave.

That would be a record outgoing fee for a Chelsea player.

Family / Meet Yusuf & Shuaibu The Boys Who Always Wait For Red Traffic Lights by Hopfulme(m): 4:16pm On Feb 06, 2019
Meet Yusuf & Shuaibu The Boys Who Always Wait For Red Traffic Lights So They Can Wash Cars In Abuja

The story has been told of young boys who wait for the traffic lights to turn red in Abuja so they can wash the cars standing still. At traffic lights in Abuja, young boys are often seen armed with squeegees waiting for the lights to turn red so they could clean windscreens and make small money. They call themselves ‘car wash’ boys’ even though they only clean windscreens. But who really are these boys? Where do they come from and why are they on the streets chasing dreams that are running faster than the boys can manage?

On a warm Abuja evening, Yusuf Lawal, 12, stood by the side of the road waiting for the traffic light to turn red before jumping onto the street to clean the windshield of the cars halted by the light. Sometimes he gets a token N10 or N20, other times he is shouted at or warned off by drivers not to touch their windshields.

Yusuf is not alone on these streets. Many boys like him take advantage of the traffic lights in Abuja to make small amounts of money.

The ‘car wash’ boys, as they call themselves, seem to come out of nowhere, quickly squirt liquid detergent from a plastic bottle onto the windshield, and use their local squeegee to give it a quick wipe down before the light turns green.
That was how I met Yusuf Lawal. I was heading home for the day and was stopped by the red light. There came a boy who looked to be no older than 10, rushing onto the road to clean the windshield of the car I was in. I parked and beckoned him to come. It turns out he was twelve and is working to help feed not only himself but his family as well.

Quote
“I come here from Mararaba every day after school to do this ‘car wash’ business. I usually make about N500 or even less, which I take home for my siblings, parents and I to eat with. I got into it when I saw some of my mates doing it, and in order to help my family at home, I decided to start too,”

Yusuf said.
He then explained how he makes the journey everyday after school to make that small amount of money, before retiring for the day to give a chunk of what he’s made to his mum.

Quote
“My parents aren’t comfortable with what I do at all. They know how risky it is. But if I don’t do this, then there will be little or no food on the table, and I also won’t have money for transport to go to school the next day. So they don’t have much of a choice,”
he said.

Quote
“I’m in primary three and I hope to become a doctor someday. After I close from school for the day by 3 o’clock, I come here right after, remove my uniform and hide it in a nearby bush. Then once it becomes dark and the traffic has reduced, we start heading home. Otherwise if we stay too late, we might not get a car to take us back,”

he said.
It is a job that comes with risks. There is the constant threat of missing death or injury by inches and having to be on the lookout for people or things that may seem to want to harm them.

Quote
“We hear stories of how people are kidnapped and used for rituals, so we try to stay together so that we don’t expose ourselves to that too much. Also, there are a lot of drivers who feel like our lives aren’t worth much because they drive as if they want to hit us. God and our parents’ prayers are what protect us mostly,”

Yusuf said.
He went on to talk about how some people call them all sorts of nasty names and throw insults at them for just trying to clean their windshields.

Quote
“They could just tell us they don’t want it and we’ll leave them alone. It’s not a forceful thing.”

Another young ‘car wash’ boy I met went by the name Shuaibu Abubakar, a 16-year-old JSS1 student, who suffered a similar plight to Yusuf of having to go to school in the morning and then spending his evenings on one of Abuja’s busy streets.

Quote
“I school in Deidei, but come here to make some money to go home with. I use what I make to buy books and stationary like pencils which I use to study at school every term. Out of the N600 I usually make daily, I use N300 for my transport fare, then give the remaining at home to get what we need to eat,”

Shuaibu said.
Smiling, he talked about how he someday hopes to become a soldier after completing his education. But then his smile disappeared as he told me he couldn’t seem to find a silver lining through which his dream could come true.

Quote
“I would want to save the money I get to see that become a reality, but it’s never even enough for anything apart from our daily feeding, talk less of doing so,”

he said.
He then revealed how the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), has made his life difficult in the course of his car wash travails. He was once carted away by operatives of the agency and kept locked up in a cell after being caught.

Quote
“I’ve been caught and locked up in a cell for three days. My mum had to borrow money from people to pay my bail of N15,000. They give us food in the palm of our hands that’s basically enough for just one swallow, and once a day,”

he said.
In every car they chase and every windshield they clean, the likes of Yusuf and Shuaibu are pursuing their dreams of becoming either a soldier or a doctor. Hundreds of boys like them pound the streets of Abuja chasing these dreams, inching towards them with every swipe of their squeegee. But like the cars they clean to claw towards their dreams, their dreams seem to run away from them faster than they could run after them.

Jokes Etc / “I Sleep With My Darling Every Night” by Hopfulme(m): 3:58am On Feb 03, 2019
“I sleep with my darling every night”- Woman Claims Airplane Is Her Boyfriend ( Photos )

Strange? Objectophilia is real and if you’ve not heard the word before, Objectophilia is a form of sexuality focused on particular inanimate objects. First it was the cockroach story and then the blanket story followed. This week we bring you another instance of Objectophilia. What’s this week’s object? a 737-800 Boeing airplane.

Image result for German Woman Claims Boeing 737-800 As Her Boyfriend And Future Husband

How many rom-coms take place in an airport? None quite like this one. Michele Kobke from Berlin, Germany recalls meeting Schatz and first being attracted to his wings, winglets, and thrusters.

What’s that? Oh. Yes. She calls the airplane Schatz. The two have been dating for five years and she sleeps with her boyfriend every night. Or at least parts of him. Or a decent 5′ replica.

Kobke has purchased components of the plane, such as the panel she’s pictured sharing a smooch with. At least we assume it’s smooching back and not frozen in impotent revulsion. It’s hard to tell. Kobke claims her family has taken the news of her long-time boyfriend “quite pleasantly” and announced they plan to wed.

Kobke says she gets a lot of hateful comments, people calling for her to seek therapy or telling her she’s sick. She claims she’s never been so happy. “I sleep with my darling every night, either with real components or 1.6-meter model. Intimacy is part of our relationship. I want to marry my sweetheart and live together in a hangar. It’s a special kind of love and it does not hurt anyone.”

Politics / BAD NEWS! See Why Nigeria’s Debt May Increase To N24trn by Hopfulme(m): 3:00pm On Feb 01, 2019
The Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), has cautioned the Federal Government on the dangers of borrowing to finance the 2019 Budget, saying the country’s total debt could increase from N22.4trillion to N24trillion.

Speaking in at media briefing in Abuja, APBN President, Olumuyiwa Ajibola, noted that with a Budget proposal of N8.83trillion, and an overall deficit proposal of about N1.86trillion, there is an expectation of financing the shortfall in revenue through foreign and domestic borrowing.
He said instead, the government should seek alternative funding options for its capital projects.
Ajibola said: “It is our considered advice to the Federal Government to be circumspect in respect to further borrowing. If we must support government, it should instead exploit viable alternative funding options for its capital projects.

“In this regard, Public private Partnership,, initiatives are viable alternatives which have gained prominence the world over to major infrastructure provisions. The time may just be right to fully activate the relevant agencies and laws for effective implementation in our country too.”
While giving an assessment of key sectors of the economy, Ajibola commended the government’s efforts in diversification of the economy, saying it is a step to improve the contributions of other sectors to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP)

The Association further sought for more transparency in the disclosure of public sector expenditure, adding that there is a need to lower the cost of governance with a view to freeing more funds for the development of key sectors of the economy. In this regard, APBN called on politicians, the electoral umpire, and all stakeholders to play by the rule to ensure free, fair and credible elections.
Ajibola also expressed the readiness of the Association to partner with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for a credible pool, as this would “reposition our national governance to better the lots of our people.”

Crime / Nigerian Man Sentenced To Prison In UK Over The Murder Of His Girlfriend (photo) by Hopfulme(m): 9:53am On Feb 01, 2019
A man has been jailed having previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Oluwaseyi Dada, 21, was sentenced at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 31 January to two years and three months’ imprisonment.

Detective Inspector Domenica Catino, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “A young woman has lost her life and our thoughts remain with her family and friends, who have been devastated by Katrina’s death.

“This case is a tragedy for everyone involved. This was a case of manslaughter in which the victim had taken a knife to the scene. After an altercation with Dada this knife – which had never been taken out of the bag – pierced the bag, stabbing her in her chest resulting in her death.

“This is unfortunately another sad example of the consequences of carrying knives. We must all work hard to prevent any further loss of lives.”
The court had heard how Dada and 17-year-old Katrina Makunova had been in a relationship that had recently deteriorated.

A series of social media communications between Dada and Katrina were obtained by police from the victim’s mobile phone.

These posts showed there was a feud between them, with both parties making veiled threats and insulting each other.

On 12 July 2018, Katrina had gone to the lobby of a block of flats on Brisbane Street where Dada lived. The pair encountered each other on the ground floor and a struggle began.

During the course of this altercation both of them fell, but unfortunately Katrina was carrying a knife in her handbag
Katrina fell onto the handbag, causing the knife to pierce the bag and then stab Katrina in the chest.

Police were called at 12:16hrs to reports of the incident and on arrival officers found Dada and administered CPR to Katrina.

The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance also attended. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Katrina was pronounced dead at the scene at 13:02hrs.

A post-mortem examination took place on 14 July 2018 and gave cause of death as a single stab wound.

Dada was arrested on suspicion of murder at the scene and subsequently charged with manslaughter on 13 July 2018.

Politics / Group Drums Support For Ambode, Wants House To Drop Impeachment Threat by Hopfulme(m): 11:01pm On Jan 31, 2019
Lagos – A group under the aegis of the Lagos Liberation Movement on Thursday urged the Lagos State House of Assembly to drop its impeachment threat on Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode and allow him to complete his ongoing projects in the state.

The Convener of the group, Mr Mark Adebayo, made the call at a news conference on Thursday in Lagos, claiming that the governor had not committed any offence known to the provisions of the 1999 constitution as alleged by the House.
Recall that the lawmakers, at the plenary on Monday, gave the governor seven days to explain reasons for alleged financial misappropriation under his government, with some calling on him to resign if he was tired of governing the state.

The lawmakers accused the governor of spending without recourse to the House, among other actions which they claimed violated the 1999 constitution, saying they might consider impeachment if he could not clear himself.

They are also urging him to come and properly lay the 2019 Appropriation Bill before the House.
Adebayo, however, said the impeachment threat against Ambode was anti-people and unacceptable to his group, which viewed it as a humiliation of the governor.

He said that Lagosians were also unequivocal in their view that Ambode was a performing governor, based on his style of governance and project execution.

“Assuming without conceding that the governor committed any infraction, is it not much more expedient to allow him complete his term which is less than four months away?” he queried.

Adebayo said the group would from Feb.4 picket the Assembly and take other actions in conjunction with Civil Society Coalition, if the lawmakers failed to change their stance.

He said the face-off between the executive and legislature was stalling development in the state.
The group leader said it was unfortunate that the governor was going through such a situation after being denied a second term.
Adebayo said the political situation of the state had become ‘untenably desperate’ and required the immediate attention of all residents and Nigerians in general.

Romance / Masturbation by Hopfulme(m): 11:27am On Jan 31, 2019
MASTURBATION

THE GREATEST DEMON ON EARTH

IF YOU MASTURBATE, YOU WILL BE POOR
FOREVER.
Please whether you are a man or a woman,
stop what you are doing and read this now.
Each time you masturbate, you donate
sperm to the demonic kingdom.
Masturbation is like having sex in dreams,
each time you release, you in-pregnante a
demon and as a woman, each time you are
masturbating, you are having sex with a
demon and sometimes get pregnanted by a
demon.
Have you ever wondered how you see
yourself with children or breastfeeding a
baby in dreams when physically you have
non?
That's the demon or demons you gave birth
to.
Last Sunday during the One on One section,
a very intelligent man came to me to
complain that he had an accident in 2014
and lost his car, he nearly lost his life but
God saved him.
From 2014 he had been applying to get
money from the government an "accident
grant" but the money was not given to him.
Each time he goes to claim his money he
would be told to come today, come
tomorrow and this money is over a million
Rand.
As I was praying for him, God revealed to
me that he had donated all his fortune to
the demons, he masturbate 4 to 5 times a
day.
When I asked him he agreed and asked me
to deliver him, I prayed for him and told him
that tonight, you will have a dream, a
woman will come to make love to you, catch
her and pull out a ring from her, that will be
the end of your problems.
Yesterday he had a dream, his former
classmate came to make love to him, he
caught her, pulled out a ring from her finger
and woke up immediately.
Today at exactly 3:45pm, he received an
alart, R1.3 million Rands has been paid into
his account by ROAD ACCIDENT FUNDS.I can still remember back in my secondary at City comprehensive Orba I couldn't count how many boy's and girls that Have come To Me complaining that They can't Stop mastrubation I prayed For some Of them that God Will forgive them.
Many of you would have been so rich now
but because of masturbation, your wealth,
good luck and happiness have been
donated to demons.
Distance is not a barrier, I pray for anyone
that will share this post, the demon that is
eating your fortune will divorce you forever
in the mighty name of Jesus.
I return your fortunes in Jesus name.

Give no room for the devil to manipulate your life.

#SAY NO TO MASTURBATION.... Copied from a source.I believe it could be a blessing to us
