i understand , BUT I think we place so much emphasis on God in this part of the world because we lack a system that works . I dont think all what you listed earlier concerns God at all. God has no business with all that. It is just that we lack a system that works . The western world, although they have churches and they pray too, but they see God differently and have a system that does all what it can to emulate the attributes of God . They see God as a Concept which can be abstracted and replicated in their system . They have a system that works and basically provides their needs so they see God differently . Our government here firstly, do not have an understanding of the God concept , so how do they want to replicate the attributes of God ? despite our leaders being deacons and deaconesses in their respective churches .

Have you seen a German and get to understand the ideological conception of how he sees his country ?

Sometimes when i read up stuffs that Twoods writes here in defense of his position during arguments here, i see reasons with him sometimes .

the way Nigerians sometimes are treated abroad is as a result of the kind of country we are in. Our leaders are just our biggest problems, because we live in a country that does not have a system talkless of one that works .

orimahspence:

@oga Twood, You either have everything working for you or you've never gone out here to get anything done in Naija, else you won't marvel at why God, Prayer, religion is huge business in Nigeria.
Here everything depends on God.
You want to make that urgent bank transfer? You pray for your bank to have "network", else....
You're rushing someone to the emergency of any hospital in Nigeria? You pray for the needed drugs, machines and personnel to be available, functioning, else...
You are coming back from work, tired and need that weekend rest? You'll have to pray for NEPA, the traffic warden, your neighborhood church (or it will be in session blaring noise into your bedroom) and the Jumaat prayers of course, else the road might still be blocked by bowing folks.
If you are not prayerful enough, the day you will need to make that life and death phone call will be the day all the network service providers will be "having challenges" and frustrate your already twisted hustle. Who do you report? NCC? Nah. "God punish MTN" will be your best call. And that too requires faith.
In Nigeria you just have to be very prayerful. Even the government recognizes it cannot do anything if the citizens don't pray hard enough to God. So at every turn they ask citizens to pray, pray and pray! In fact government functions actually begin with prayers from one religion and end with prayers from the other.
Prayer is the key to everything here except for those with the right connections and political power. To these, prayer is merely a superfluous gesture of identification with the horde of praying folks, a kind of gesture of humility.
You are an undergraduate? You need prayers against ASUU strikes, missing scripts, lecherous lecturers, gun-wielding students...honey you need prayers to graduate.
You are a young graduate in need of a job and even a spouse? Church is the key.
That bigman in your congregation will notice you with your pink monkey jacket always greeting folks and directing them on where and how to park their cars and consider you to be very humble and godly and find you that coveted spot in his ministry.
Forget that there's no advert in the papers. The real jobs don't get advertised my friend. You just fill the right forms and gbam! you are in and your pastor will sing and dance as you testify to the power of the living God of Daddy Apostle.
If you can attend all your prayers and ensure you have major roles in your Jumaat mosque, my friend one day your imam will announce that a bigman says he has a couple of slots in his ministry and you, my friend will scream alhamdulillah! as your name will be the first on the list.
See, in Nigeria, everything depends on God. Even when you can afford to pay for steady internet connectivity, you still have to pray for the network service providers else, half your sub will go to waste and there's nothing you can do except report them to God. Now tell me why people won't pray to have visa?
People need prayers my friend. Loads of it.

Okay thanks very much Walspring

Walspring:

Just follow the CGI lady instruction and do as she instructed you if not you will end up loosing the visa fee.

Right now you can do what she asked you to do until the appointment clear from your page and she will report your case and they will just give you an opportunity to book again..

Morning Guys. I must tell you all that i deserve a very hot slap this morning . What i did today was very stupid .

Can you guys believe i carried the wrong DS 160 form, which was a previous form which i filled and made some corrections to the embassy today . The CGI lady gave me a white paper which states that i should reschedule with the correct ds160 form after 3 working days . Now coming back home going through the papers on my bed i found the correct ds160 form .

I am so confused i need help. What are the implications of this stupidity on my path? How soon can i get another date if as i have been told to reschedule after 3 working days? Should i call the embassy and notify them of this ?

Please i am begging you guys from my soul. I need responses !!! I need help.

I will even appreciate insults and scolding because i need it seriously . I was on the queue today helping people out with how to arrange their own documents and unknowingly to me, i just made a grave mistake with mine . Pls help

1. Yes, you can change institution, as long as they issue you another I-20, and your SEVIS record is updated, and as long as it's reflected in your new Visa application. Otherwise, there may be issues at the POE.

2. Check the school website for the standardised test required, but for that course, it is likely GRE.

Some schools require an independent agency to do transcript evaluation, but most schools don't if your transcript is already in English. Again, check with your department/school.

If your school does not give transcript, they should be able to send it to the school directly (official, that is), at a cost.

That said, since you have not written the GRE at this time, I'm not sure you can still meet with Fall 2018, but it is possible.

Best wishes

Thanks very much . I sincerely appreciate your response . My transcript is in English already . I will contact the department as said . How do I go about the GrE and how long does it take ? Thanks once again

Good morning guys . I sincerely wish to appreciate you all for the insights and advices I have gotten here at this forum . God bless you all .

consequent of my denial of an F1 visa on the 28th , and my school resuming on the 2nd of January, I realize that even an emergency date will still not help so I have sought to your advice to defer till fall 2018.

However, I have some questions here I need to ask and I sincerely will appreciate your responses and advices once again. Firstly, is it possible to change institution as against fall 2018 and seek for a higher degree such as masters as I already have a BsC and was seeking for another bsc of which I was denied ?

Secondly , a masters degree in philosophy at Texas AM is what I intend to further in as I have a bsc , 4.0 in philosophy. I will be contacting the school and department in January about this but I need to ask. Which standardized test would be required for me ?
Will I do a translation of my previous degree?
My school does not give students transcripts, of which I believe it would be needed . I have my certificate tho and will be ending Nysc soon . Pls guys I need advices . If my phone number is needed to discuss this with me , I am willing to provide and pay for the airtime you use in calling . Thanks very much and I will be here waiting for replies.

I have a sponsor who is ready to sponsor my education and I don't want to miss this opportunity to pursue my dream . Pls help a brother !

Sorry about your denial, IMO the resumption date is too close. I'm sorry you might have to defer and re-strategise. However, what is the reason for your denial? So you can get help from the forum.

Okay, thanks very much. Now here's what happened this morning...................
I was interviewed by the guy in window 1. The white guy on glasses . He denied the guy in front of me and i was determined to do better when it hit my turn.

After passing my documents, he asked my reason for travel and and i told him i was going to study Business Administration at Ball state University , Muncie Indiana .
He asked what was the reason for studying that course and i told him how it is firstly of a personal interest i have in the world of business and how i would love to develop my knowledge and gain an academic background in Business so as to achieve my long term goal which is setting up and owning a Business here in Nigeria and create job opportunities for other people and contribute to the development of my home country.

Then he asked why i intend studying Business Admin, when there are people over here who have businesses without having a degree in business . So i told him that my aim of studying and owning a degree in it, is to have the knowledge of management as well which Ball State offers as they have what is termed to be a customized degree which enables students in the department of Business to as well to take extra classes in other areas such as staff management and organizational behavior so as to be well grounded in the discipline and experience , and this is an edge over those who own business without a degree in business .

so he asked if i chose other institutions and why didnt i pick other institutions which i chose . Meanwhile from my close observation here in this forum which i have been learning and following silently for over a year now, i was made to understand that questions such as these is same thing as 'why did you pick this school?' . So i answered his question on that accordingly .

next he asked for my sponsor and account details, i provided him that and he started typing and said those heartbreaking statements with the blue paper . under section 214b that i did not demonstrate strong ties . He said at this time, i do not qualify and i can re-apply

I really cant just figure out where i went wrong . Any advises and corrections from you all on this forum will be taken, constructive criticisms will be taken as well . And the next step forward . I know theres a popular name Twoods here as well, i need you guys help and i will be here reading . I am seeking for a second degree in Business Administration as i am already a graduate from the discipline of Arts with a 4.0cgpa and getting a job out there is not easy , that was why i wanted to follow my interest which is business and achieve my ultimate goal of setting up a company here in Naija .

God bless everyone here on Nairaland
