i'd advice that you make an official report at the police station (just to be on the safe side...for both of you), then make efforts to contact the few family members you mentioned. really unfortunate situation, but fortunate for him there's a friend like you. The SSS can track down the last known location of your friends phone and call records to filter the host's number, but i think you need a special clearance for that (an insider could help though).
