Good afternoon/evening sister, I am not Nigerian but I am from West Africa as well. I studied abroad and I made a lot of friends from different communities and here's what I think about it since it seems that horners really seem to value beauty a lot: first watch out because in general West Africans are PLAYERS. The Nigerians that I know are no different and will be quick to sweet talk you. With regards to the fact that you are Somali I think that even if in West Africa people tend to view horners as exotic, especially the women, West African men are still very proud of their own women's beauty and they are considered by them (us) to be the prettiest on the continent.

However it is true to a certain extent that light skin is valued and there is kind of a divide in that part of Africa between north and south, sahelian countries where facial traits are straighter, lighter skin is more common as well as long hair, etc, and the south where bodies tend to be stronger. So do not be surprised to hear the typical West African say that the most beautiful women are Fulani, Touareg, etc, In the diaspora West African men seem to be more attracted by the fact that horn of Africa women seem to be less materialistical than their West African counterpart and more traditional.
In conclusion, you should just enjoy yourself and take the compliments personnally without the somali part as it is true that you both are cute. Peace out.

Arabs are known worldwide for being racist and hyppocrites who call those with the same religion as them ''brothers'' only to insult them behind their back. Also a lot of North Africans are actually berbers who only call themselves (a lot also do not like that) Arabs because of their complexion, their religion and their language let alone the people from the horn.

This is my first time replying to a post.@ poster I believe that if you are happy with someone, that is where you belong. Nevertheless I find it strange that, given what you said, if you have both a black and a white man that treat you equally nice you would still prefer the white. In other words, it means that a black man should do more to get your attention and that is usually the sign that you are not totally fair.

When I was just a kid (around 10), I used to dream about women with long flowing hair (not necessarily white but with distinct traits) but, having an African mother I noticed in my teen years that I always went after African women with traditional values and that has never changed. I now realise that even unconsciously (TV, peer groups) we seem to interiorize certain ideas/concepts. I wish you the very best anyway and hope that I could be of a little help.
