Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister Katia Aveiro launched a rant at Virgil van Dijk after the Liverpool defender’s joke about her brother at the Ballon D’Or 2019 ceremony. Van Dijk finished second in the voting for this year’s Ballon d’Or, behind winner Lionel Messi but ahead of third-placed Juventus star Ronaldo. Ronaldo snubbed the ceremony, and when a reporter put it to Van Dijk before the award was announced that that meant he had one less rival to worry about, the Dutch centre-half joked: “Was Cristiano really a rival?” Ronaldo’s sister has reacted angrily to the quip, with a lengthy Instagram post in response to Van Dijk in which she points to her brother’s far superior trophy record. Aveiro’s post, translated from Portuguese read: “Now, dear Virgil, where you are going, Cristiano Ronaldo has gone and has come a thousand times. ‘You see, my dear Virgil, that Cristiano Ronaldo was a tri-champion in the country where you have been playing for years and you still haven’t got your hand in the can. “Cristiano Ronaldo was even the best player and best scorer in the country where you play Virgil. By the way, I was even younger than you. “Then, dear Virgil, Cristiano Ronaldo went to other places and became the greatest player in the history of a clubezito. ” Real Madrid , tell you something Virgil? Maybe so, because this club, with this Cristiano guy, even beat you in the Champions League final. Of these, Ronaldo already has five, Virgil. “And that fellow Ronaldo and team-mates, with the corners on his chest, crushed your ‘orange’ in a final. Was it hard, Virgil? We have pity. “And, dear Virgil, In one of the least successful times of his career, Cristiano Ronaldo has won even more titles than you. Awesome, isn’t it? “Now Virgil will win titles from those who really count andvthen we’ll talk. When you have a handful of them, the really important ones, you might be able to sit at the table with Cristiano. “It’s for me Cristiano you are and you will always be the best player in the world !!!” NEWS SOURCE Lalasticlala Mynd44 Seun Dominique

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday mistakenly called the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate, Great Ogboru APC presidential candidate. Buhari who repeatedly called Ogboru, the party’s presidential and senatorial candidate was corrected by an APC chieftain who flanked him while handing the party’s flag to Ogboru. His words: “I am handing over this flag of honour to our presidential candidate.” A man on the stage to his left corrected him, saying “gubernatorial”, but Buhari responded with “to our senatorial candidate”. Again, the man corrected him, saying “gubernatorial” and this time, Buhari said “governortorial candidate”. However, reacting over the alleged statement, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in a statement tagged “APC Warri Rally: Buhari Has Foreseen His Defeat – PDP”, poked fun at the incident, noting that Buhari has no intention of vying for the second term but was coerced by the cabal in his Presidency. The party said Buhari has long foreseen and accepted his defeat come 16th February 2019. Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi has stated that the goal he scored against Albacete is his favourite goal in his career. Messi scored the goal from an assist done by Ronaldinho at the Camp Nou in 2005. Since then he has gone ahead to be crowned five times Ballon D’or winner. “The first against Albacete from the pass of Ronnie [Ronaldinho], I will never forget, it’s my favourite,” Messi told Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday. “The goals of the Clasicos are always special and against hard opponents that are usually Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla. Also those that I have had the luck to score in front of our fans. In Camp Nou they are always nice. “In the end, the most important goals are not the most spectacular, but those that serve us as a team to win.” Source : https://www.collegegist.com.ng/p/743/messi-reveals-his-favourite-goal-in-his-entire-career

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has said that if elected president, he would appoint a minister of youth who will not be more than 30 years old. The PDP presidential flag-bearer made the pledge at a Town Hall meeting with youth in Lagos on Monday. According to him, it is incumbent on the present crop of leaders in Nigeria to mentor the younger generation and the best way to achieve that objective is to appoint youth who are brilliant into top government positions and allow them to learn the ropes. “I have pledged that 40 percent of my government will be youth. Let me assure you that it’s a promise and I won’t break it. My minister of youth is going to be less than 30 years.” The former vice president further remarked during the question and answer session at the event that if elected as president he would give top priority to education investment, saying that “President Buhari has confessed that the economy is in bad shape under his watch and it is clear that the President is short of ideas about how to fix the broken economy. There is no single economist in his administration and that is why we are in this mess. “I know how to fix a broken economy. I know how to create jobs and I also know how to empower the youth. That’s the reason I’m here today – to give hope to you the youth that together we can get Nigeria working again,” he said. Also speaking at the event, the national chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, extolled the Nigeria youth for their resilience despite all “chastisement and uncooperative attitude from the incumbent government”. “All you have to do is to vote for Atiku as president but be very assured that under the Atiku administration, every Nigerian will be accommodated and included,” he said.
