The Kogi state Governor said this at a prayer session for late Nasir Ajana, Kogi chief judge on Tuesday June 30. Bello who countered claim of the state's Chief Judge dying from Coronavirus, also stated that nothing kills faster than fear. He said at the event; “Whether medical experts and scientists believe it or not, COVID-19 is out to shorten the lifestyle of the people, it is a disease propagated by force for Nigerians to accept. “COVID-9 is only out to create fear, panic – orchestrated to reduce and shorten the lifespan of the people.” Source: https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2020/6/nigerians-were-forced-to-accept-coronavirus-governor-yahaya-bello.html |

Health / Young People Do Better With Coronavirus – Lagos Health Commissioner by iambenureri(m): 12:08pm On Apr 26, 2020 |
Lagos State Health Commissioner, Prof Akin Abayomi, says the youth population in the state gives it an edge in the fight against the pandemic. He said young people do better with the virus and the government would undertake a study on the genetics of this segment of its population. The commissioner, who stated this on Saturday on Channels Television , said no severe case of the virus has been recorded amongst the young population in Lagos. He added that there was no point testing all the young people in the state because they have “ some degrees of resilience ”. He said , “ Looking at where we are today , we see 70 to 80 cases a day and they see thousands in Europe , so something is definitely different here . “ In medicine , you test only when you can do something about the result . We have to have a policy that defines our testing rates. And that policy must fit into our capacity and our strategy. Crime / Confusion Over Alleged Killing Of Man By Lagos Hoodlums by iambenureri(m): 6:32am On Apr 20, 2020 |
The father of one Junaid Adewale, identified simply as Mr Owenco, allegedly lost his life when suspected members of the One Million Boys terrorised residents of Ijesha in the Surulere area of Lagos State on Saturday. However, the alleged killing is shrouded in confusion as the state police command denied knowledge of the incident. PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspected gang members created tension in the area around 7 pm and allegedly used weapons to attack the residents they encountered on their way. Owenco, who was said to be elderly, was reported to be on his way to a destination, when the crisis suddenly started, but while he was attempting to escape with other residents, he was said to have stumbled and fell to the ground in the process. While trying to get back on his feet, it was learnt that the rampaging hoodlums caught up with Owenco and allegedly dealt several machete blows on him and left him for dead. Afterwards, some good Samaritans reportedly rushed Owenco to a nearby hospital for treatment, but he, however, died on Sunday due to the extent of the injuries he sustained during the attack. In a Facebook post that chronicled the circumstances surrounding Owenco ’s death, Adewale ’s friend, Samuel Salami, explained that the One Million Boys were responsible for the death, adding that the victim ’s remains had been buried. Salami wrote on his Facebook page, “ While the nation is bereaved of President ’s Chief of Staff Abba Kyari, my bosom friend Adewale Junaid lost his Dad in the hands of the notorious 1 Million Boys at Ijesha, Surulere, Lagos. “ The nefarious gang was on rampage on the street at about 7 pm yesterday evening, machete anyone on their way, my friend Dad stumbled and fell to the ground due to old age and before he could stand up, he was caught and machete all over his body. “ He was rushed to the Funto Hospital along Ijesha Road but unfortunately gave up the ghost early this morning due to the multiple machetes cuts all over his body and head. When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said there was a clash between hoodlums from three areas, but insisted that no death was recorded and confirmed that nine suspects had been arrested. Elkana stated, “ We have Ijesha, Aguda and Itire boys, who had been clashing among themselves. They took advantage of the rumour about the One Million Boys and youths coming out in the name of protecting their areas to attack themselves again, because they share boundaries. When they clashed, we quickly responded and arrested nine suspects. “ We don ’t have the report of anybody killed and I can ’ t speak on what I cannot substantiate. I cannot respond to an online post, because I speak for an organisation and if there is a death recorded and we are aware of it, I will speak on it. “ Yes, there was a clash and we brought it under control and made some arrests; the suspects all confessed to the crime .” Source: https://punchng.com/confusion-over-alleged-killing-of-man-by-lagos-hoodlums/ |
Politics / Buhari’s Greatest Tribute To Kyari Should Be Fixing Public Hospitals – Falana by iambenureri(m): 11:09pm On Apr 19, 2020 |
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Femi Falana, said on Sunday that the greatest tributes the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari ( retd ), could pay to the 19 deceased victims of COVID- 19 in Nigeria, including his former Chief of Staff, the late Abba Kyari, who died on Friday, was for governments at all levels to fix public hospitals . Falana, who said this in a statement, also attributed the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to official hypocrisy, impunity and lack of coordination between the federal and state governments in the efforts to fight the spread of the pandemic in Nigeria. Speaking on the urgent need for public hospitals to be fixed, Falana said the treatment of British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, for COVID- 19 in a public hospital in London should be “a sober lesson” for government officials “who usually spend public funds on medical treatment in foreign medical centres.” Source: https://punchng.com/buharis-greatest-tributes-to-kyari-should-be-fixing-public-hospitals-falana/ |

Health / Covid19: There Is No Policy In Lagos Against The Release Of COVID-19 Corpses. by iambenureri(m): 9:50pm On Apr 19, 2020 |
Lagos state Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, has said the state has no policy against the release of COVID-19 corpses to family members for burial. Abayomi stated this during a press briefing this afternoon. He made the clarification after a journalist at the press briefing asked why the body of former Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, was released for burial when the Minister of Infiormation and Culture, Lai Mohammed , initially stated that corpses of persons who tested positive for COVID-19, will not be released to families for burial because they are contagious and could increase the spread of the virus. The Commissioner said Lagos state holds no policy of withholding bodies of deceased Coronavirus patients. According to the Commissioner, the bodies of patients with the infectious disease can be released after certain procedures have been followed. “There is no policy against the release of the deceased with COVID-19 in terms of release for burial. If you demise from any condition, there’s protocol to manage every scenario. The protocol for managing death from COVID-19 is that the body is decontaminated. The body is then placed in a special body bag. We put them in two body bags and then place within a coffin and the coffin is sealed. The family is then given the opportunity to come and collect the body and take for burial. The only restriction around burial is that you follow the current state law on congregations and that no more than 25 people in total, including the religious members of the ceremony and the grave diggers, do not exceed 25[attend the burial].” he said. Health / Covid19: Saudi Arabia Advises Muslims To Observe Ramadan Prayers At Home. by iambenureri(m): 7:09pm On Apr 19, 2020 |
As the Ramadan fast begins later this week , Saudi Arabia’ s Council of Senior Scholars has urged Muslims around the world to pray at home if they reside in countries that have imposed lockdowns or curfews to curb the coronavirus outbreak . The Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday that the authorities advised Muslims to partake in their religious practices , such as praying but refrain from causing harm to others . “ Muslims should set an example by performing their religious duties while adhering to the preventative and precautionary measures issued by relevant authorities in the countries they live in , ” the council admonished in a statement . The scholars urged Muslims to avoid gatherings which they said were the main cause of the spread of the infection . “ Muslims shall avoid gatherings because they are the main cause of the spread of infection and shall remember that preserving the lives of people is a great act that brings them closer to God ,” the council noted. The kingdom ’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Al al- Sheikh expressed the same sentiment on Friday . He said that Muslim prayers during Ramadan and for the subsequent Eid al-Fitr feast should be performed at home if the coronavirus outbreak continues. Saudi Arabia has reported 8 ,274 cases of COVID- 19 and 92 deaths so far , the highest among the six Gulf Arab states with the total number of cases in the region being 24 ,374 with 156 deaths . The Saudi government in mid -March stopped people performing daily prayers and the weekly Friday prayer inside mosques as part of efforts to curb the spread of the disease. Last week , the Prophet ’s Mosque in the holy city of Medina said it was banning events that dispense evening meals in the mosque to those in need during Ramadan to break their daily fast . Several other Islamic countries including Egypt and the United Arab Emirates have suspended group prayers in mosques until further notice to slow the spread of the virus. Xucxex1997: I think the statement here is quite simple & logical at the same time, judgement after death, simply signifies that there will be no more room for repentance - therefore, what awaits the death at that particular moment, is JUDGEMENT. Which will be as a result of the second coming of Jesus Christ. |

[quote author=SperoQuest post=87851184]Good afternoon dear Nairalanders, I want you all My bibles tells me that he that is in me is always greater than that of the world. Even as we continue to maintain safety guidelines & regulations (Which is by right suppose to be the norm, because, cleanliness, they always say, is next godliness! Humanity must understand that maintaining safety guidelines without Jesus is vanity!!! If Covid19 doesn't destroy the mere physical flesh? Trust me, something else will do! As spirit beings we have nothing to be afraid of, knowing fully well we have a better home somewhere (Heaven). While we all still have time to make a decision, accept Jesus as your personal lord and Savior before it becomes too late. Note: Don't allow fear to kill before your time. And on this note, I rest my case. #Staysafe #Stayclean #Keepfaith |
