Crime › Indian Police Nab Nigerian Over Contraband Supply by iamfraud(op): 6:29pm On Sep 13, 2025 |
Nearly a month after banned drugs were recovered from an SUV that mowed down two pedestrians in Lutyens’ Delhi’s Chanakyapuri, police have arrested a Nigerian national, named as Ndubuisi, for allegedly supplying the contraband to the car’s driver. The accident, which took place on the morning of August 10, occurred when the SUV allegedly hit and killed two men sleeping on a pavement near Gyarah Murti in Chanakyapuri. The 26-year-old driver, Ashish Bachchas, was arrested on the spot, while the vehicle was seized. According to The Indian Express, Ndubuisi, aged 40, was arrested in Southeast Delhi’s East of Kailash.A senior police officer said the accused was questioned to uncover the wider drug syndicate. The officer further said it was suspected that Ashish was supplying drugs after receiving consignments from Ndubuisi, which he distributed at parties and to individuals. Eight Nigerians arrested in India for drug trafficking Ashish initially told the police that he was unaware of the drugs found in the car. However, he later admitted that he had received them from a Nigerian national residing in Southeast Delhi. A team of officers from the police station was then constituted to search for the suspected Nigerian national, the officer said. The team eventually nabbed Ndubuisi from his residence before subjecting him to interrogation.“He had come to India in 2010 on a student visa. His visa expired in 2012, but he continued to stay in the country illegally. He also lived in Goa for a few years before returning to Delhi,” the officer added. “Over two dozen people connected to both accused have been questioned. We believe more arrests will be made in the drug supply case in the coming days,” the police said. https://punchng.com/indian-police-nab-nigerian-over-contraband-supply/#google_vignette

A Nigerian citizen was arrested on Thursday at the immigration office checkpost in Raxaul while attempting to enter India from Nepal using a fake passport and visa of another country. He is being questioned by police and security agencies.
The man has been identified as Uche Joseph Okai alias Balo Antonio, born on May 20, 1977, in Nigeria. He was attempting to infiltrate India with the passport and visa of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
According to immigration office sources, during document verification he presented a passport of Côte d’Ivoire, though he is a Nigerian citizen. Records show that he first entered India on Apr 15, 2012, at Mumbai on a three-month medical visa issued on his Nigerian passport.
After the expiry of his visa, he stayed illegally in the country for more than 12 years. He was eventually deported from Mumbai airport in Dec 2024 by the foreign regional registration office (FRRO) Mumbai, which issued him a Leave India Notice before sending him back to Nigeria.
Officials said after deportation, he travelled to Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan airport and then attempted to cross into India through Raxaul using a fake identity with altered name, date of birth, country details, passport number and visa number of Côte d’Ivoire.
He was intercepted during checks at the immigration office in Raxaul.
He has since been handed over to Haraiya police station in Raxaul for further action
East Champaran SP Swarn Prabhat said, “It is being investigated what his intention was behind re-entering India despite being deported.” https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/patna/nigerian-national-held-with-fake-passport-at-raxaul/articleshow/123701182.cms |
