]Personnel from the crime branch unit (zone II) attached to the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police have apprehended a Nigerian national who was found to be in possession of cocaine and mephedrone (MD) collectively valued at more than Rs 11.58 crore in the international market.
Personnel from the crime branch unit (zone II) attached to the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police have apprehended a Nigerian national who was found to be in possession of cocaine and mephedrone (MD) collectively valued at more than Rs 11.58 crore in the international market.

Acting on a tip-off received by personnel -Sachin Patil, a team led by police inspector - Sameer Ahirrao raided a flat on the third floor of Mahesh Apartment in the Ever-Shine City area of Vasai at around 12:15 am on Sunday. The team found 48 grams of cocaine in the flat which was occupied by the Nigerian national identified as- Victor Odichinma Omuwala alias Daik Raymond (37).

The team also recovered Victor’s fake passport which was prepared in the name of Daik Raymond and the keys of a flat on the fourth floor of the same building. Upon searching the flat, the team found 22.865 grams of MD and the passport of the occupant identified as-Igwenuba Chimaobi-a native of Lagos in Nigeria establishing his involvement in the crime.

The team also recovered Chimaobi's passport and chemicals which were apparently used to alter the quality of drugs. While Victor was arrested and booked under then Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, his accomplice Igwenuba whose passport was found in the flat is absconding.

Investigations revealed Victor alias Raymonds involvement in a similar offence committed by him in the jurisdiction of the Azad Maidan police in Mumbai. The case has been handed over to the Valiv police to conduct further investigations.

Apart from trying to find the source of the drugs and their potential buyers, the Valiv police in association with the anti-narcotics cell (ANC) counterparts were also checking the documents of the duo to ascertain if the stay in their county was validated or not.

Two traders lose diamonds worth Rs 3.12 crore to acquaintances
Two diamond traders were allegedly cheated in separate incidents in Mumbai, with the police investigation revealing a near identical modus operandi, an official said on Tuesday, reported PTI.

In both instances, traders lost diamonds worth Rs 3.12 crore, which they had loaned to the accused persons who are known to them.

Police booked three persons for cheating and criminal breach of trust by registering separate FIRs and launched investigations, a BKC police station official said, reported PTI.

One of the victims owns a unit on BKC Diamond Bourse. He was allegedly approached by Shalibhadra Kothari in July 2023. The trader loaned an 8-carat diamond, valued at Rs 2.03 crore, to Kothari who promised to either make payment or return the diamond within a few days, but never returned, reported PTI.

Crime › Nigerian Drug Peddler Arrested Again In India , 7 Gm Cocaine Seized by iamfraud(op): 10:43pm On Apr 15, 2025
The Central Zone of the Commissioner’s Task Force, in coordination with the Kachiguda police, arrested a Nigerian national involved in peddling cocaine in Hyderabad. The accused, Ngwuchukwu Godwin Ifeanyi, alias Godwin, 34, was caught in possession of seven grams of cocaine while waiting to deliver it to a customer.

The accused, a native of Ogui Iweka in Enugu State, Nigeria, arrived in India in 2015 on a student visa to pursue a pharmacy course in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. However, after his visa expired in 2016, he remained in the country illegally. Influenced by his Nigerian associates involved in drug peddling, he also procured and sold cocaine.

His operations were primarily based in Mumbai, from where he sourced the drugs through contacts in Bengaluru and Mumbai. Using online financial transactions and a ‘dead drop’ method of delivery, he ensured no direct contact between the peddler and the user, making detection difficult.

A dead drop is a method of discreet exchange where one person leaves a drug at a predetermined location for another to pick up later.

This was not his first brush with the police. In May 2022, Excise and Prohibition officials, Dhoolpet, arrested him in connection with a cocaine case, following which he was remanded to judicial custody but later released on bail. In January 2023, he was again arrested by the Hayathnagar police. Due to increased police surveillance in Hyderabad, he relocated to Mumbai and continued his business from Kharghar.

On March 23, while attempting to deliver cocaine to Hyderabad after travelling from Mumbai, he was once again arrested.
