Politics › Nigerian Army Shut Down Six Major Markets In Anambra Over Fake Drugs by iamfraud(op): 2:52pm On Feb 18, 2025 |
Personnel of the Nigerian Army have been accused of shutting down six major markets in Onitsha, Anambra State, for two weeks, bringing hardship to traders who are disgruntled as they continue to incur losses.
SaharaReporters learnt that the soldiers, who are from the Onitsha 302 Artillery Regiment and General Support Service, have taken over the markets and locked down every shop under the guise of clamping down on drugs dealers.
SaharaReporters gathered that the affected markets are; Onitsha Drug market, Oduwani (Power Tools and Allied) market, Surgical Line market, Plumbing Materials market, the Ogbogwu Fashion Line market, the Bridgehead Provision market and part of the Timber Dealers market.
It was learnt that while the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) contacted the military personnel for its recent operation against drugs dealers, the soldiers have refused to reopen the markets and allow lawful businesses to resume, to the anger and depression of thousands of traders.
According to a report also by the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) on Tuesday, the human rights organisation said it strongly condemned the militarised approach adopted in the raid on drugs dealers.
Intersociety also called on NAFDAC to prevail on the army personnel to leave the six markets as the officers have continued to engage in "unprofessional and corrupt practices."
"The Intersociety is calling for immediate reopening of the affected markets and refunding of not less than N20billion being loses incurred by the innocent traders of the six affected markets since Sunday, February 9, 2025, particularly traders of the Onitsha Drug Market.
"We at the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) hereby strongly condemn the total shutdown and militarization since Sunday, February 9, 2025, of the Onitsha Drug Market, the largest open drug market in Nigeria; shutdown and militarised alongside those of Idumota in Lagos and Ariaria in Aba, Abia State.
"The NAFDAC-hired soldiers of the Nigerian Army under the coordination of Commandant of the Onitsha 302 Artillery Regiment and General Support Service, Col Adamu K Muhammad, had on the said date invaded the crowded market and five adjoining others; namely: Oduwani part of the Carpentry Tools (Power Tools and Allied) Market, the Surgical Line Market, the Plumbing Materials Market, the Ogbogwu Fashion Line Market, the Bridgehead Provision Market and part of the Timber Dealers Market.
"The above-named markets were shut down and taken over by soldiers of the Nigerian Army and their NAFDAC hirers-during which the NAFDAC field officials and leaders of the hired soldiers forced leaders of the affected markets to surrender the keys of their gates and lines and took possession of them till date.
"Since then, it is not only that traders of the affected Onitsha Drug Market have incurred billions of naira loses amounting to not less than N20billion, but have also been starved, threatened and forced out of their legitimate businesses.
"The worst of it all is that traders and leaders of the five unaffected markets have permanently been shut out and denied access to their shops and legitimate livelihoods."
The organisation added, "While we are not against sanitisation exercise by NAFDAC geared towards ridding the country of fake and adulterated drugs and stamping out their dealers and manufacturers, we strongly condemn the militarist approach adopted.
"The NAFDAC and its hired soldiers of the Nigerian Army are also insensitive to the plight of over 95% of traders in the Onitsha Drug Market and 100% of traders of the other five adjoining markets unlawfully and militarily shut down and forced out of their legitimate businesses since Sunday, February 9, 2025.
"Instead of using credible intelligence through inter-agency intelligence gathering and sharing that should have identified and profiled the illicit drug kingpins for easy tracking and apprehension using digital and allied manual processes including their identities, locations and places of abode, the Nigerian Army and their high command have chosen to resort to punishment and persecution of innocent traders."
In the report signed by Emeka Umeagbalasi, Intersociety Board Chairman, the organisation further said, "We hereby call on the authorities of NAFDAC and their hired officers and personnel and high command of the Nigerian Army to as a matter of uttermost immediacy reopen the militarily, corruptly and unlawfully shutdown Onitsha Drug Market and those located in Idumota in Lagos State and Ariaria in Aba, Abia State.
"NAFDAC must refrain from encouraging corruption and unprofessionalism in the Nigerian military and stop using them to militarize the Agency’s civil and law enforcement operations. Traders of the Onitsha Drug Market and those in Lagos and Abia must steer clear of fake and adulterated drugs or trading on illicit hard drugs such as codeine, cocaine, contraband tramadol and allied others.
"The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo, is hereby called upon to wade into the matter and facilitate speedy reopening of the Onitsha Drug Market and five adjoining others. NAFDAC is further advised to go after fake and illicit drug kingpins responsible and leave innocent others alone who constitute over 95% of the entire Market’s traders.
"Breaking market stores belonging to traders of the Market in their absence and confiscating their goods, whether done in the hours of the blue law or in broad day light, is a serious misconduct and an unlawful act capable of attracting a flurry of lawsuits against the NAFDAC and its hired officers and personnel and high command of the Nigerian Army." https://saharareporters.com/2025/02/18/anger-nigerian-army-personnel-shut-down-six-major-markets-anambra-take-over-shops-weeks |

Politics › Kanu Raises Alarm, Alleges Tricks By FG To Perpetually Hold Him Down by iamfraud(op): 6:31am On Feb 18, 2025 |
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has drawn attention to what he described as serial executive and judicial fraud being perpetrated against him since his extraordinary rendition in 2021. In an open letter addressed to Nigerians yesterday, Kanu said: ‘’In a judgment entered on March 1, 2017, the Federal High Court, Abuja, ruled that the ‘IPOB is not an unlawful group’. At the time, it received widespread publicity which can be verified. ‘’This landmark ruling (made by the court before it turned unjust) emanated in criminal proceedings that required ‘proof beyond reasonable doubt’ and in which the federal government and my humble self presented our respective cases. ‘’Alas! Instead of the federal government going on appeal as the law mandated (if they are dissatisfied with the judgment), the former Attorney-General (Abubakar Malami) went behind closed doors with a letter signed by late Abba Kyari and got IPOB proscribed/tagged a terrorist group in an ex parte proceedings that conducted without notice to me or to the IPOB. ‘’This abominable incident was the earliest sign yet that the government and its judiciary have struck an unholy and fraudulent alliance to deny me my rights and thereby imperil the life and liberty of millions who identify with IPOB. ‘’On October 26, 2022, a Federal High Court declared my extraordinary rendition and detention as unconstitutional, stating that: ‘the manner of arrest and detention of the Applicant (Mazi Nnamdi Kanu) in Kenya, his continued detention in Abuja, his subjection to physical and mental trauma by the Respondents, the inhuman and degrading treatment meted out to the Applicant amounts to a brazen violation of the Applicant’s fundamental right to dignity of his person and threat to life under Section 34 (1)(a) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).’ ‘’The court further ordered the federal government to apologize to me and pay me compensation. In a responsible society and well-ordered, run by a responsible government, this judgment is sufficient to have ended my lengthy detention and encourage the federal government to constructively engage me on the issue of the self-determination agitation that triggered this whole saga. ‘’Pedal back to October 13, 2022, when the Court of Appeal held that: ‘The courts must never shy away from calling the executive to order when they resort to acts of ‘executive lawlessness.’ ‘’The courts must maintain a balance between ensuring that law and order is obeyed and the protection of the individual from oppressive actions by the executive. ‘’By the forcible abduction and extraordinary rendition of the Appellant (Mazi Nnamdi Kanu) from Kenya to this country on the 27th day of June 2021, in violation of international and state laws, the lower court or, indeed, any court in this country is divested of jurisdiction to entertain charges against the Appellant’. ‘’Despite the clarity of this judgment and its comportment with reason, the federal government refused to release me from detention while it went behind closed doors and connived with three other justices of the court of appeal who fraudulently and swiftly sat on appeal over the judgment and practically destroyed it by issuing what they termed ‘a stay of execution’. ‘’One may then ask: Is it not abominable for a court to stay a judgment the government already disobeyed? In a plethora of cases, the Supreme Court has held that anybody who disobeys a related court order cannot be given any judicial relief until such an order is obeyed. ‘’This is a sound reasoning that applies to everybody but is fraudulently overlooked when it comes to my case. Fast forward to 15th December 2023 when the Supreme Court sent back my case to the Federal High Court for trial. ‘’For avoidance of doubt, that was not the only decision the Supreme Court made. It also decided that my bail should not have been revoked and it went on to state clearly that the judge exhibited significant and unacceptable bias by revoking my bail. ‘’In a sane society, one would expect that when the High court received my case from the Supreme Court and hankered down for trial, it was also duty-bound to restore my bail in line with the pronouncement of the apex court. ‘’But that did not happen. Why? Well, your guess is as good as mine and that is: the Court connived with the federal government to continue my detention in violation of Section 287 of the Nigerian Constitution. ‘’On September 24, 2024, I decided that I had had enough of taking my chances at getting justice from a judge that, in June 2021, sent me to secret police detention without fair hearing, later refused to transfer me to prison to better prepare for my trial and capped it all by refusing to restore my bail and instead ordering an accelerated trial in the face of the reality that I will never get a fair trial whilst detained at the DSS. ‘’These are the major reasons that compelled me to request recusal of the judge and having consented to it, she proceeded to make an order removing herself from my case. That order was never challenged on appeal; thus it remains extant to this day. ‘’But instead of the Chief judge of the Federal High Court doing the lawful thing by assigning my case to another judge, he connived with the federal government to eat crow and send my case to a judge that stands recused by a valid order. ‘’To conclude this open letter, let me make it clear that it should in no way be construed to mean that there are no decent judges in Nigeria that can be trusted to deliver even-handed justice in my case. That is not the issue. ‘’Instead, the issue is that my case is deliberately being shielded from judges and justices who are deemed to be committed to doing justice, even when it means that the federal government must lose. ‘’Be that as it may, if it will take the rest of my life in detention to produce me before a proper and impartial court, so be it. But let me say this for the world to know: I will not succumb to any trial conducted by any judge or court whose jurisdiction does not pass constitutional muster. Not now, not ever.’’ https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/02/kanu-raises-alarm-alleges-tricks-by-fg-to-perpetually-hold-him-down/amp/

Politics › Police Arrest Child Trafficking Syndicate In Anambra, Rescue 10 Victims by iamfraud(op): 4:29pm On Feb 17, 2025 |
The CP noted that the achievement highlights the importance of community-police collaboration and intelligence gathering in combating child trafficking. The Anambra State Police Command has said that its operatives have busted a child stealing and trafficking syndicate in the state, arrested three suspects including a fake medical doctor, and rescued 10 malnourished children. The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ikioye Orutugu, made this known on Monday at the Command headquarters at Amawbia, Awka, the state capital during a press briefing. Orutugu said that the child trafficking syndicate was busted on Saturday at the 3-3 area of the popular Onitsha city where the 10 malnourished children aged five to eight years old were rescued by police operatives attached to 3-3 Divisional Police headquarters. The CP said the police operatives who acted on an intelligent-led information investigation arrested one Mr Odinakachukwu Okorie; Ifunanya Ogbonna and a fake medical doctor identified as Mr Daniel Ikebuilo and rescued the 10 children in an apartment in Inland-town of Onitsha. He added, “The Divisional Police Headquarters have been monitoring one of the alleged suspects Odinakachukwu in the area on the receipt of a report on 28/07/2024 about a missing 6-year-old boy in the neighbourhood. “The Operatives, having enough evidence, quickly arrested Odinakachukwu Okorie on the receipt of the second complaint on 13/2/2025 of a missing 5-year-old girl in the same area. “During interrogation, the suspect mentioned Ifunanya as part of the child stealing syndicate. Further revelation led to the rescue of both children earlier reported missing and the arrest of Mr Daniel Ikebuilo (a fake doctor). “Odinakachukwu and Ifunaya confessed to have perfected their plans to flee with the 5-year-old girl to Abuja. “Ifunanya also confessed to having sold the child N1,000,000 to Mr Daniel. “The police, still acting on information gathered, further rescued eight other children in an apartment in Inland town, Onitsha. “To this end, the Command sought the assistance of the Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Women's Affairs for custody, medical attention, and care to help the children recover from the ordeal.” The CP noted that the achievement highlights the importance of community-police collaboration and intelligence gathering in combating child trafficking. He therefore called on anyone looking for his or her child to come to the State Police Command headquarters for necessary action and possible reunion to their parents. https://saharareporters.com/2025/02/17/nigerian-police-arrest-child-trafficking-syndicate-anambra-including-fake-doctor-rescue

nedu666: Some individuals have made it a commitment to create numerous anti lgbo threads on a hourly and daily basis. The solution to numerous anti lgbo threads lies with lgbos ignoring such threads. Igbos should learn from the north the power of silence. Silence is deadly when trying to shut an irritant up. Just as northerners don't respond to threads about them, lgbos must adopt same measure in frustrating their enemies.
From today lgbos should ignore threads by following hielnus, plaindealer, omenka, seunmsg, leoking and many others.
Rather than respond to their negative thread about lgbos, open your on thread and post positive things about lgbos. Let the losers come and comment in your own thread rather than you going to comment on their own thread. In that way you frustrate them
Example on the anti lgbo threads about a water tanker been used to quench fire. ignored their threads and opened his own thread show casing anambra fire service. The result saw the losers come into his thread shouting you suffer from inferiority complex, who is competing with you bla bla bla because by opening his thread he took away attention from their anti lgbo threads.
Remember without lgbos response and attention no anti lgbo thread can exceed a page. Ignore fools online like you will ignore fools in real life why don’t you abide by this Sinedu? |
