Romance / Nigerian Prostitutes In Europereveals The Hell They Live In, Seepictures by Iamnavido: 10:42am On Jan 13, 2015
Nigerian women are being trafficked to Italy under
the pretence that they will be working as nannies or
in factories – but often end up working the streets
as prostitutes.
Their plight has been highlighted by Paris-based
photographer Elena Perlino, originally from Italy,
who began to notice the presence of young African
women working on the streets during her
commutes from Turin. Perlino reveals that many Nigerian women come to
Italy hoping to make enough money from honest
work as nannies or factory workers to support their
families back home, but are tricked by traffickers
into working in the sex trade. Eighty per cent of women trafficked to Italy come
from Benin City, Edo State, in south Nigeria.
The photographer explained: ‘My work attempts to
show a complex phenomenon that crosses Italy
from North to South.
‘This involves many cities including Turin, Milan,
Genoa, Rome, Naples and Palermo and thousands
of Nigerian and Italian people.’
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime
declared Nigeria among the top eight countries with
the highest human trafficking rates in the world. Traffickers demand on average more than 50,000
euros (US $60,000) for travel expenses and
accommodation, with the women having to work as
prostitutes until their debts are paid off.

Politics / Obasanjo On It Again by Iamnavido: 1:22pm On Jan 10, 2015
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said on Thursday he
was not ready to sacrifice his life for any political party, but
would prefer doing that for Nigeria.
Mr. Obasanjo stated this when the Presidential Candidate of
the National Conscience Party, NCP, Martins Onovo, paid
him a visit at his Hilltop private residence in Abeokuta.
“My first pre-occupation is what is best for Nigeria; Nigeria
first, party second and any other thing third. Nigeria first
means I will not sacrifice anything for the interest of Nigeria
but I can sacrifice my own life for the interest of Nigeria, I
can’t sacrifice my life for the interest of a party, I will
sacrifice my life for the interest of Nigeria,” he declared.
Mr. Obasanjo commended the role Gani Fawehinmi, founder
of NCP, saying the late lawyer did not only fight injustice
but also checked the excesses of governments in power.
“In the interest of a better society there is always the need
for some people to serve as watchdogs. Fawehinmi
throughout his life devoted his intellect and energy to fight
injustice, bad governance, corruption and other social
vices,” he said.

He said that the men who entered through the security door where unarmed inside the hall. They pretended to be asking for the manager but they used this as a means to shift or rather move away from the security door who to didn't know it was about to be blown by local dynamites. they blew off the security door and passed the guns inside to the robber s. they carted away with lots of cash because they gained access into the hardroom. It was said that the robbers had their target on the mobile vehicle bringing money from Asaba but the robbers rather came inn earlier.
