GenBuhari: Don't be surprised if Rawlings starts contesting for presidency again in a bid to save his beloved nation. Rawlings must be vexed!
A lot of you Nigerians are so naive and know absolutely nothing about ghana. Absolutely nothing!!!. A lot of yall act like u are living in villages and receive news through town crier!! Ghana having issues now makes some glorified literates feel like economist and advisers . If you guys know any better why don't you use the same brain and zeal you use on ghana issues to solve your internal issues already Just look how people feel so happy about the news, it just goes to show the envy and hate a lot of you have had in your hearts towards ghana and ghanaians.. This is why blacks are taken as shit all over.. You measure your strength by the weakness of neighboring countries. And u feel you are any better.. Forgetting you are always in the news for one shameful act or the other..and your economy is also a shi.thole. you feel you situation is much better cos the once praised ghana is now in economic problems.. Ego personified morons!!!
PhockPhockMan: Do you know that Ghana Cedi is bigger in face value than China and Japan currencies? Ghana's desperation to make their currency, West Africa's number one and possibly adoption as proposed Ecowas single currency. When they were about doing the redecimation of their currency , I reminded them that Argentina has done that severally without any headway.
Sorry but I have to say that u are st.upid for this statement
highmood: Hahaha! Ghana. But sometimes you do think Nigeria is ur mate. You tend to flex muscle whenever Nigeria does and beats hand on your chest whenever Nigeria tends to be passing through their challenge. Well, now you know its not easy. If Ghana should face the type of challenges Nigeria has been facing, then Naira will be a dollar to them. With Nigeria's numerous challenges, we are still classified as the best in Africa, imagine a Nigeria with little or no challenges. Well make u guys take it jeje
ichidodo: Devaluing the currency will help make exports cheaper thereby increasing foriegn demand inaddition to boosting local-production,employment and house-hold incomes.Even in a trade-by-barter system, the economy is stronger when exports exceed imports how much less a cedis based system. But with the re-domination or 'artificially' pegging the currency close to the dollar without requisite social, financial and infrastructural platforms to buff the currency as unscrupulous hedgefunds obtain that 'artifcial leverage' to pursue dollars, exports have become expensive with reduced foriegn demand and local production..There is trouble when house-hold incomes are reduced significantly with goods and services relatively expensive and businnesses suffering losses as a result of reduced patronage. Not devaluing the currency at this stage is like blowing up a ballon watchin when it will go bust...Ghana's ballon is due for an economic bust...
Yes you are right. Buut on the other hand that was not the main cause of the problem. The same way u have apc pdp issues here.same goes to ndc npp over there.. There are political screw ups . A ghanaian will understand this better.. And how worse can it get?? The worse has already happened .. And still no balloon will burst.. Don't be to expecting for the negative. Cos the cedi is already gaining strength, and policies are working to avert the situation
dcaliph: You made good points and i agree with most of them. I still think that ghana taking IMF advises is one of the major problems. IMF agender is anti-Africa, they always encourage borrow, remove subsidy and they roll out deceiptive statistic. Thats what they did to Nigeria during IBB era. Running to IMF again for help would not help. Ghana should solve the problem internally.
Well one thing is that at the moment what ever the government is doing is in the best interest of saving the country. And imf is not exempted to africa alone. Greece , iceland , ireland , Portugal all applied for a bail out. And portugal made a clean exit from the program when they got up on their feet.. So we should not always get freaked out at the sound of “IMF” ..rather than always look at western powers as always trying to destabilize our economies .why don't we look within to see how we are getting it wrong .. Did imf tell u to steal?.. Not to build good institution?.. Not to plan So we are the real imf.. Our own enemies.. Asides that things are expected to stable as soon as the gas plant comes up.. Of which its ready for commissioning this month
rudedough: The idea of exporting raw materials is not a good one for our nation. We should be exporting finished products like chocolate bars, chocolate drinks, chocolate biscuits etc thereby creating jobs for our teeming population while earning more foreign exchange.
To succeed at this we need to bring the culture of eating chocolate..for such a market to be successful. Nigeria, cote diviore , ghana are cocoa producing nations and not chocolate eating nations . The average African man seeks quantity and less of quality.. Why buy 300 naira chocolate when he can buy beta eba swallow and kpomo for that price #black man mentality
LordReed: Look at this revisionist calling someone else retrogressive. I quoted your post where you said BVN is the number of his name, you were not speculating then, you even called someone an ignorant monkey because of it and now you have the temerity to say Africans are retrogressive. Your silliness has been exposed and you want to use cursing to cover up. Too late.
He that is forming wise does not know that he is the beast candidate
ochallo: Ghana produces way more than us as you can see from the table below an excerpt of their financial report.
Country Amount produced Percentage of world production Côte d'Ivoire 1.23 million tons 34.7% Ghana 746 thousand tons 20.6% Indonesia 489 thousand tons 13.8% Cameroon 220 thousand tons 5.9% Nigeria 210 thousand tons 5.9% Brazil 165 thousand tons 4.7% Ecuador 130 thousand tons 3.7% Malaysia 32 thousand tons 0.9%
so lets say their total earnings for 2010 is 859.4/61 X 100=$1.408 billion. Then for 746 MT = $1.995 billion. Factor in inflation at 14.5%= $2.284 Billion
The minister must be talking about the revenue for all the African countries exporting cocoa, which by the time you factor ivory coast might be almost $10 billion, .Actually that is what he meant, the total global value, the topic is wrong.
And we have more producing capacity than Ghana, if the government would just support it.
Ghana is also working that by 2015 they would topple cote divore as top cocoa producer in the world. Ghana already has the sweetest cocoa in the world. the key is turning it into finished goods..a lot of the people in the cocoa farming have not even tasted chocolate or milo. We can't continue to be in the cave man ages. A culture of eating chocolate should be introduced. like what we have in Switzerland and france. Then it will encourage manufacturing plants in the country
Rescuing Ghana's Cedi The Ghanaian currency, the Cedi, in 2014 has already depreciated by about 3 % against the major international currencies. In 2013, the local currency suffered 17 % depreciation. The Central Bank has outlined measures intended to fix this but those the fast depreciation of the currency has already affected have to deal the problems that have come with it.
The ghana cedi has been over emphasized on by u guys as if you feed on it You will do your self more good if you disect nigerias problems with the zeal u display on ghana issues
Well I got no problem cooking cos I love cooking but when it turns one sided that's where a problem is. A lady is supposed to know that she is supposed to cook meals for a hubby.. Be you african or western .. If she is shying away from it.. It either she is showing her true colors in the marriage..or he has given her the perception that there is nothing wrong cos he has been too tolerating from the onset, or she can't cook.. Or is the guys is not bringing enough money home.. Or the boti kind of guy?
