Nations or zones in Nigeria just as in anywhere are successful according to population, urban agglomeration which is an indication of organization and HDI.
In population the SE is the least and it is around one third of the SW or the NW. In urbanization it might be second to the last ahead of maybe only the NE and in HDI it is number one as a zone but below Lagos or Ogun state as stand alones

So how did he count millionaires to say the SE is leading? Is it people with one million dollars of which half of them are in Lagos or he counted people that own their own homes of which the majority will be in the North as they buy more cement? I wonder what he used to arrive at his conclusion?

If the SE had the population then they would stand a better chance of pulling more weight

Lagos was not part of Western Nigeria.
Western Nigeria at the time included Delta and Edo (old Bendel), Ekiti, Oando, Osun, Oyo. So resources from these places (Cocoa, Palm fruits,, etc) SE, North etc. were contributed to the Central Govt. part of which was used to finance the development of Lagos.

Same way Abuja is being developed today

It just baffles me how one could use budget of 55m pounds in a single year as basis for this kind of discussion or topic
