There are very few artistes in Nigeria who has gotten to the height in their career like the legendary 2face Idibia. There is absolutely no achievement he hasn’t accomplished in his music career span that he had to delve into acting just to explore other talents he possesses. So many artistes look up to him and want to emulate him by sounding like him, dressing like him and even try to act like him. He is the only hip hop artistes in our generation who has attained legendary status because of his unique nature and song writing skill. If there is anyone who can contend with him then it has to be our very own starboy, Wizkid. Wizkid rise from just a random artiste to an internationally acclaimed superstar is a source of motivation and inspiration to other African artistes that they can get to the peak of their career if they dream big and work hard. From the days of “Hola at Your Boy” to “Ojuelegba”, Wizkid has grown and matured in his music that he now features on top American and UK artistes songs like Drake’s “One Dance”, Tinnie Tempah’s “Mamacita” just to mention a few. Just like 2face, Wizkid has won every major awards and recognitions that a successful artiste should win. He has won BET Awards, MOBO Awards, 5 times The Headies Award, 2 Channel O Music Awards, MAMA Awards, Afrimma Awards and many others. Wizkid has also received other top nominations at the MTV Europe Music Awards and World Music Awards. In terms of International exposure Wizkid beats 2face hands down in that criterion. The number of international collaborations he has done with top international artistes is unimaginable for an African artiste. This year alone he has worked with Drake, Chris Brown, Tinnie Tempah, French Montana, Trey Songz, Dj Henry, Hoody Baby and Justine Skye his alleged American girlfriend.2face has also worked with some top international artistes like Wyklef, T-Pain, Beenie Man,Sway and Bridget Kelly. Wizkid was the first Nigerian artiste to feature on Billborad, an international music chart courtesy of his role in Drake’s “One Dance” song which is off his album ‘VIEWS’. This is a feet no other Nigerian has been able to reach even 2face have never featured on Billboard before. The song peaked on the number one spot on Billboard for seven consecutive weeks tying Michael Jackson’s record. 2face is still one of Africa’s biggest artistes and has headlined some of the biggest shows and tours in the country and beyond but he hasn’t toured major European and America cities with top international artistes. Wizkid on the other hand has toured Europe, America and even Africa with top international artistes like Chris Brown, French Montana, August Alsina, Mariah Carey, Maxwell, Calvin Harris and Kendrick Lamar. 2face has some of the best albums ever released in Nigeria and he still has his most evergreen song ‘African Queen’ to his name. His evergreen albums are “Grass 2 Grace”, “Face 2 Face”, “Away and Beyond” and “The Ascension”. Wizkid has just two albums “Superstar” and “Ayo” and they are still evergreen. With only two albums to his name Wizkid has been able to carve a niche for himself to becoming Africa’s pride to the world. To cut the long story short, from my own perspective I think Wizkid has gotten to the same level that 2face is and from the way he is going he might surpass him and also attain legendary status in a matter of years. There is hardly nothing 2face has achieved that Wizkid have not done or surpass. But can Wizkid command the same respect back at home just like 2face?I would say NO and I would leave it at that. In the afternoon hours of today, images emerged online
of an Owl that was allegedly killed inside Lagos market,
after it was branded a “ witch“.
The controversial media personality reacts to the effect
by sharing the above photo of the Owl, and saying
people should stop going to churches that blame
everything on evil spirits.
He wrote:
“Stop going to those stupid churches that tell you to kill
owls and cats! ~FRZ
Look at this backward thinking, vapid headed people,
posing proudly with the carcass of a poor bird they
killed, because of their benighted dogma, which labeled
the poor creature a witch.
If there was any justice in the World, these morons
would be behind bars, but living in a 3rd world country
only serves to fuel these acts of cruelty.
According to an eyewitness report; “So I was inside the
Ikotun market today to get some foodstuff when I heard
people shouting blood of Jesus, some speaking in
tongues. I turned back to see this beautiful owl trying to
escape from a shop. The man in this picture hacked it
down with a thick rod. Everyone said it is a witch in bird
form.”
It’s just an Owl guys, it’s not that serious, stop killing
Nigeria’s birds and stop going to those stupid churches
that blame everything on evil spirits” |
Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo, the outspoken daughter of a former governor of Oyo state, Victor Omololu-Olunloyo, has revealed why she has not been enjoying sex. [b]Olunloyo, known for her straightforward comments on social issues, told IBTimes UK during a recent interview that few African women (especially Nigerians) are willing to speak about their experiences with Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) which she claims is one of the reasons some of them have poor libido and urge for mating. She has therefore advised such affected individuals to use intimacy gadgets in order to get maximum satisfaction rather than sleep with men who are not likely to satisfy them. Kemi Olunloyo, the 52-year-old daughter of ex-governor, Victor Omololu-Olunloyo, says she does not enjoy sex. “There was no anaesthetic and a sharp razor blade was used. I remember my sister and I screaming afterwards. We went home bleeding in diapers and, for a week, it was like we were little girls with menstrual periods. My mom was bathing us and diapering us. Deep down, mom was not happy for some reason. “After years of resentment towards my mother, I finally confronted her in 2012. She burst into tears telling me that our late paternal grandmother ordered my dad to have us do it. “This tradition is over 70-years-old. Our grandmother was a traditional Muslim woman who dictated many rules to her young son, my dad. “Some women and girls, who undergo FGM, have their entire Instruments cut and “sewn closed.” My Instruments were only partially removed, meaning I did not experience difficulties while giving birth, however, the psychological and physical consequences of the mutilation still linger in my life. “Calling it an operation is nothing. It was a cultural barbaric act used to decrease the female libido. It caused me post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for life. [i][b]“I don’t experience orgasm during sex and when I tried to promote the use of intimacy gadgets among Nigerian women, men started attacking me saying I was discouraging African women ‘from the real thing’. “Sex is not important. I have no libido or urge to have sex and I’ve been celibate for 10 years. Millions of women in Nigeria go through this, but they cannot talk or be outspoken like me. It is shameful and a disgrace to them. “Many women say they fake orgasms and others have husbands who go out to prostitutes and girlfriends. FGM has destroyed marriages here. “My message to girls who have been through it is to stay strong and get into support groups. Its better to educate girls about sex education the right way, instead of cutting part of their genitals off causing a lifelong traumatic problem,” Olunloyo cried out. This revelation is coming just days after the controversial feminist slammed immediate past Imo state governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, for saying the nation’s economy was ‘HIV positive’ before President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
|

Really, I don't like it when people Crack their
jokes and they bring in God and other things
considered Holy.
Like Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit.
For me, It doesn't make any sense to do so as a
Christian because God commanded
Thou shalt not Call on the name of the Lord
thy God in vain
So, does this make any sense to anyone and what
do you think about it? |

Is Tekno The Next Rated Artiste In Nigeria This Year 2016? Music sensation, producer, songwriter, singer and dancer, Augustine Miles Kelechi popularly known as Tekno Miles or Tekno is the next rated artist in Nigeria this year 2016. Agree or not? Well, let’s take a quick look at his achievements so far… Early Beginnings Tekno hails from Ebonyi State and grew up in several parts of the country including Bauchi, Nassarawa, Kaduna and Abuja due to the fact that his father was a member of the Nigerian Army. One could say that he has been involved in music since childhood because he was enrolled in a music school at the tender age of 8 by his father where he learnt and mastered the rudiments of playing the piano and guitar. He is usually referred to as the ‘Golden boy of Africa’ or “The Chris Brown of Nigeria” because of the similar singer plus dance style he shares with the Black American singer, Chris Brown. Career and Limelight In 2010, he was first signed under K-Money Entertainment under which he released his first single ‘Holiday’ with featured vocals from Davido. This song gained massive airplay and recognition in Nigeria. While in Abuja in June 2012, Julius Agwu, renowned Nigerian comedian spotted him after his standing ovation performance of “Onye ne kwu”, his remix of Ice Prince’s ‘Oleku’. Here, he also met with Ubi Franklyn, CEO of Made Men Music Group also referred to as Triple MG and Iyanya and made friends with them. They encouraged him to move to Lagos and pursue his music career. Over a year later, on Oct 5th 2013, he signed a music contract with the Triple MG. Under this imprint, he dropped singles like Dance, Wash, Pana, Go Low, Jonzing and Anything(which made him a nominee for the ‘Best New Act of the Year at the 2014 NEA awards). His biggest hit single and that which brought him to the limelight is ‘Duro’ which he released on June 8th 2015. This song rocked the airwaves in Nigeria and even in Africa, topping several billboard charts in Nigerian and the international scene. He later released a remix of Duro featuring Phyno and Flavour, produced by DJ Coublon. On 20th Nov 2015, Tekno released another single titled ‘Wash’ produced also by DJ Coublon and the video was directed by the outstanding AJE films. Tekno, our very own Chris Brown seems to be taking after his look alike as he is receiving due recognition home and abroad for his music. He has also been nominated for awards such as: • NEA awards 2014 for ‘Best New Act’ • 9th Nigeria Music Video Awards 2015 for ‘Best pop extra video which he won. • 2016 NEA awards for ‘Hottest Single;Duro’, ‘Best Music Video of the Year’ and ‘Afro pop artiste of the Year’. Apart from his singles “Holiday’ ft Davido, Pana, Onyenekwu Remix and others, he has featured in other artiste’s songs like • Pray For Me by Lynxx • Panya by Bracket • Yudala by Triple MG alongside Iyanya, Selebobo, Baci • Your Face by Natural bee and a whole lot of other songs. Surely, looking at his accomplishments since his debut in the music industry, you can agree with me that Tekno is a fast rising star and the next rated artiste in the Nigeria Industry this year 2016. Though he is still upcoming in the ranks of Wizkid, Davido, Olamide and other young acts, he is bustling with real potentials that would be brought to reality in the coming years. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for him!

Recall that Davido made a comeback earlier in the month with the release of his 5-track EP, Son of Mercy, his first compilation effort since his Omo Baba Olowo album that dropped four years ago. Just days after releasing the video to his latest single “How long” featuring international singer, Tinashe, a song which has been getting positive attention, Davido has warmed his way into the hearts of his fan (and maybe even won a few more) with this new magazine cover. Shot by genius photographer, TY Bello for ThisDay Style, Davido exudes calmness and a surrendering to “cleansing” as TY Bello puts it when she shared the photos on her Instagram this Sunday. The photos uniquely showcased body art on the models and a splash of colours on Davido. He was styled by African menswear fashion label, Okunoren. See photos:

The Niger State Government on Tuesday said it will discontinue the payment of West African Examination Certificate and National Examination Council fees for its students in Secondary Schools in the state. Governor Abubakar Bello said this when he visited Justice Legbo Kutigi Secondary School to inspect the ongoing renovation of the school in Lavun local government areas of the state. Bello said that government can not continue to pay N800 million every year for students that only five per cent of them are able to pass with four credits. He said government would rather invest such money in infrastructure development and provisions of instructional materials for qualitative education. He said, “We must review the issue of the payment of NECO and WAEC fees because at the moment, we are still owing NECO and WAEC about N800 millions . “Government spend such huge money for students that cannot even have four credits. Only about five per cent of students will have four credits and above. “Basically, it is like we are throwing away money. We will rather stop and invest the money on the facilities so that with time we will get good results. “We have made efforts to pay part of the money and the results will be released. “The Commissioner for Finance has met with NECO and WAEC officials and there is an understanding that the debt issue will be addressed.” He said that the payment of examination fees would henceforth be based on criteria where only best performing students would be selected as beneficiaries. He decried the decayed structures and facilities of schools in the state, adding that such situation was responsible for massive failure and poor performance recorded among students. He said, “For so many years, our primary and secondary schools that are suppose to be the basic foundation for our children have been neglected. “We are aware of the plight of students and teachers in our schools, some schools do not look as if human beings are living there even the teachers quarters. “Most of the roofs are blown off by windstorm, but now with this new approach of bringing sanity to the educational sector, the teachers will now have conducive environment to live and hopefully that will boost their morale to settle down and teach our children very well.” He said that most of the science schools currently under re-construction were about 70 per cent completed, adding that when fully completed, it would bring about improved teachings and learning. He added that the effort was to ensure that schools in the state reached the United Nations Educational Scientific And Cultural Organisational and world standard. |
Chocolate City in the past one year, has had a revolving door of artistes with a number of departures. The label who relaunched last year with a change of leadership, and a merger with Loopy Music had up to 14 artiste at one point. But while they have added new artistes to their ranks this year, - Qritical, and Ckay – they have also lost a lot of acts. Up to six team members have left the label in various ways, with Pryse being the latest to bow out. Pulse presents a list of all the acts who have left the African music giants. Ice Prince Ice Prince’s departure from the label had happened in 2013 after his contract expired. But it was this year that he came out publicly to announce that he had split with the label. A press conference was later held to mark his exit from Chocolate City. Jesse Jagz Jesse Jagz has joined Chocolate City twice and left twice. His first exit in 2013 saw him start his Jagz Nation imprint and released two albums. His return in 2015 to join the Chocolate City relaunch was celebrated and he dropped 3 singles. But he left again, this time to setup his publishing business. Milli Milli moved from Loopy Music to Chocolate City, as he was assimilated during the merger by the two labels. But he was dissatisfied with his level of creative control, and forced an exit this year. He has since moved on with his career by dropping a debut EP, and working on a new one. Pryse Pryse was signed in 2012 after her discovery by M.I Abaga in the UK. All through her four year stay at the record label she had four official singles, 10 freestyle covers, and a music video. Last week, she was cut loose from the label, and she is embarking on a new phase in her career to start a record label. Kahli Abdu & VHS Safari This was the briefest ever signing. Chocolate City announced that they had signed the group made up of rapper Kahli Abdu and producer-duo VHS Safari. But nothing came of it. The group was signed in June 2015, but Kahli Abdu publicly declared them out of the label in January 2016. DJ Caise Caise was signed in 2011, and has served the label faithfully all through his time. But he split last year, and no official word has been offered. |

Fuji artiste, Ajibola Odetola, aka Pasuma, has opened up on the kind of woman he hopes to settle down with. When asked why he chose to remain single, he said, " I am not single. I have children out of wedlock. I am married to my children and I am happy with them. That does not erase the fact that I may decide to get married tomorrow. " On the kind of woman he's interested in getting married to? " I want a woman who has the fear of the Lord. She has to be educated and homely. If I find a woman who has all these qualities and a few extras, you would be the first to know." He also spoke about why he loves to date Yoruba actresses. According to him, " They are all my friends and we are in the same industry. That makes it easy for us to understand each other. " Not only that, the singer talks about what he loves to do in his spare time, " I don’t drink, I don’t smoke and I don’t womanise. I just do my thing and I love being in my house watching TV. I love sports and I am an Arsenal fan. That is the way I relax. " The fuji star recently purchased » a Toyota Highlander jeep worth N12m. |
Kunle Falayi Twenty-year-old Uweb Samuel, a Cross River State indigene working as a domestic help in Magodo area of Lagos, sat on the grounds of the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, with his head bowed. Shaking his head intermittently to register remorse, Uweb said he did not imagine he would end up the way he had. “My boss trusted me so much. In fact, I had access to every part of the house,” he said. But that trust came back to bite his boss, Mr. Ajadi Babatunde, few days ago when he came back from a trip abroad and left a wad of pound sterling notes in his room. Saturday PUNCH learnt that he trusted his manservant so much that he left the house but left his key on the door of his room. That day, Babatunde took a peek inside the room and saw something he could not resist. “I counted the £50 notes and there were 67 there,” he said. That is £3,350. In current official exchange rate of pounds to naira, that amounts to N1.33m. Samuel said he knew it was a lot of money that could change his life, but thought about building a house immediately. He said, “There is no house in our village in Calabar that my siblings and I could call a home. So, I thought it was my chance to build a house for my family. “I took the money before my boss came back home and took it to my sister’s husband to hide for me. “When my boss came back and started to look for the money, he asked me and I told him I did not see any money. Even though it was just the two of us in the house, I insisted I did not take any money. “Some workers were doing some renovation work in the compound. He asked if any of them entered the house but they said no. The workers said I must have been the one who took the money and started to beat me. “They tortured me even though my boss did not instruct them to do that. I still did not admit that I took it. But when it got to a stage, I told them I would kill myself, my boss then told them to take me to the police. But his brother came and spoke with me gently, that was why I decided to confess.” By the time the police stormed the house of Samuel’s brother-in-law, half of the money was gone, while the man had gone into hiding. Samuel sobbed as he said he was sad that he betrayed his boss’ trust. According to him, he was being paid N15,000 monthly as a domestic help but that his crime had nothing to do with his salary. “I wish my boss would forgive me. I did not know this is what will happen to me,” he said. The police have said investigation was ongoing on the case and the suspect would soon be charged to court. Copyright PUNCH |

Children want to grow up fast and do what adults do but ironically, adults want to be children again. With the struggles that comes with being a grown up, every once in a while, people find an escape, merely by reflecting on childhood memories. Anyone who grew up in Nigeria, probably had the best childhood in the world. From street football on raining days to suwee during weekends and long holidays, Nigerian kids passed all the courses in the childhood university. We bring you this beautiful day some childhood games that would definitely make you love your childhood the more…. Fire on the mountain: Kids are arranged into two circles, one with one more member than the other. When a signal is given, they begin to run in opposite directions singing “fire on the mountain, run, run, run” until a whistle signalling – “fire is up!” is blown. Then each player tries to get a partner from the other circle. After the scramble, the player without a partner is penalised to do certain stunts or made to squat in the centre of the circle. The removal process continues until one pair is left and the pair are crowned the winners. The name for this game varies across Nigerian cultures. Boju-Boju: This is the Nigerian version of hide and seek. Every other person goes into hiding and the person seeking will start by singing the song, ‘boju boju o…’ and after singing, he starts to chase and anyone he/she catches will be the next to seek. Every seeker starts his/ her chase by sing the song. Rope-Skipping: Girls loved this one. There is the one where each competitor skips and everyone counts, when she/he misses, the next person starts. The winner is decided by the person with the highest number. Thug of war: Although kids back then didn’t know what this one was called but it was definitely fine to play it back then. Here, there are two leaders facing each other holding tightly onto a rope with a line drawn infront of them, then their team members queue behind them. Both teams will start to pull simaultanously and the team that is able to completely pull the other team over to its side is declared the winner. Tinko Tinko: Girls especially loved this one. It involves two partners facing each other, while the theme song is sang by both as the game goes on. With hands held half way up, they begin the game which involves interchanging of hands front and back and slamming of hands by both partners. In this game, a lot of clapping happens in this game. |
