revealed when the 2017 UTME and Direct
Entry Registration is scheduled to commence
after announcing the date for the 2017
UTME examination. Read here. According to Prof. Oloyede on Monday 20th
February, 2017 while briefing newsmen
said the reason for the delay and the
commencement of the UTME and Direct
Entry Registration is to check Malpractices. He
also said that 10 officials of JAMB has been handed to the police for
investigation in connection with fraud
associated with sales of scratch cards. Below are

We hereby announce eight ( latest updates from JAMB regarding the forthcoming UTME 2017 for all candidates wishing to sit for this years Unified Tertiary Examination Examination for admission into Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria. While many are gearing up to complete registration for UTME 2017 and prepare academically for the examinations, here are some vital updates they must keep in mind: 1. Registration has not started It is vital that we begin with this, because many have put up posts that the registration has begun. However, in his latest discussion with the press, the JAMB registrar stated clearly that registration has not commenced , but will commence soon. UTME 2017. Therefore, ignore any other news to the contrary as we will be breaking the news, when registration commences. 2. 1.7 million candidates are expected In 2016, the number of candidates that registered for the exam was: 1,561,443, this year about 200,000 more people are expected. The registrar of JAMB, Prof Ishaq Oloyede himself gave the figure while speaking with students and other bodies . This means that you need to ensure you begin registration as early as possible to get a good centre and avoid been caught in last minute rush. 3. Mock UTME to be conducted This is also good news for those who are taking the exam for the first time as it will help them have a feel of what it is like, before the pressure of the real thing. Plans are in place for a mock UTME and this might explain the delay in beginning the sales of the examination forms. So if you are preparing, start your preparations now, so you can do well in both the mock and the real deal. 4. CBT Centres As the number of expected candidates has increased the board also has plans in the works for more Computer Based Testing (CBT) Centres in order to the make examination exercise far better. Since there is only one week to satisfy, 1.7 million students, it is totally understandable that more centres will be brought into play.

5. There Will Be CCTV Another key feature of the 2017 UTME that students need to keep in mind is that cheating and any other form of examination malpractice is really frowned upon. To ensure this is enforced, the guideline for CBT centres include: The adoption of CCTV cameras for all of them. This means one thing, the exams will be closely monitored. 6. Technology Will Be Deployed Also, technology will play a big role in this year’s exam. This is the type of hall to expect as a UTME 2017 candidate: A single hall containing 250 functional desktop or laptop computer systems with extra 25 as backups. The computers must be minimum 15 inch screens and must be connected to robust computer server with capacity to carry a minimum of 250 systems concurrently. 7. Validity Duration Another wonderful news for students is that unlike previous years, the result they get from this year’s exam will now be valid for 3 years and not one year as it was previously. The Nigerian Senate passed the extended validity period into law on Thursday, October 13, 2016. 8. Harmony of timetables Lastly, the organizers of the major examinations, including JAMB met to avoid a clash in schedules and in order to have a harmonized timetable. An agreement was reached at the national headquarters of the Board in Abuja on Tuesday, January 24 , after a meeting with National Examination Council (NECO), West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Business and Technical Examination (NABTEB) to harmonize the timetable[/left]

Speaking in a press conference the JAMB Registrar/Chief Executive, said such websites were being use to solicit payments for malpractice services in the forthcoming 2017 JAMB examination. Such websites include br /> www.jambresults.org.ng, www.askjamb.com and www.jamborgng.info. He also said that the attention of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has been called upon to suspend the domain of the websites. Below is an official excerpt of the Registrar speech br /> Special attention is drawn to the continuous advertisement soliciting for payments for malpractice services for the forthcoming 2017 JAMB examination by www.askjamb.com. The above mentioned website has continued to advertise help for candidates with JAMB 2017 live questions and planned malpractice offers to candidates including help within the examination hall. All relevant authorities to ensure that the websites were brought down and their perpetuators brought to justice. All candidates are hereby warned to desist from such websites.

Hello Nairalanders, from time to time, new websites pop up. And quite a lot of people advertise them and also invest in them but when they eventually goes down, there's hardly anyone that speaks about them.

This is dangerous because new people will come around and follow the old discussions to register with these sites and invest not knowing that they are no more reliable.

We need to find a way to stop these sites from getting more registrations and duping people after they have stopped paying.

Dear Glo Customer,Kindy Subscribe To Our 5Gb Data Plan For Just 1,300 Only

Before now, I was surfing at 15GB for ₦3,000 by simultaneously using two mutually exclusive Glo data plans (chai! Oyibo! ) whilst downloading without limit on Airtel. Thanks to a recent data overhaul in the country, I’ve found new sweet hearts.



First off, you should know that I am a heavy user of the internet (Hell, I even tag myself a scavenger, an “internet scavenger”) so even when I am not downloading, my data needs are still upwards of 10GB monthly.

What I use the 10GB for is none of your business, just read on!

Now like before, I am combining two data bundles (still mutually exclusive but this time, from different network providers) to meet all of my data needs.

I use one of the bundles during the day and the other, strictly “night mode”. Both these bundles are totally legal/official and I’m not kidding when I say 100GB for ₦5.5k is possible.



The Day Plan
After all the noise and hype, you’d be disappointed when you get to find out what plan this is.

Why?

Because it’s nothing new, nothing spectacular. It’s something you might even already know about or something you are even presently using or suggested to a pal.

The tory don dey too long…

Simply put, it’s Globacomm’s 10GB for ₦2,500 plan.

Shey I told you it was nothing spectacular?

This plan is what I use for daily activities – I actually do not do much online during the day but I have to stay online. A bulk of my uploading and downloading are done when internet speeds are much faster and noisemakers are in dreamland.

Science says it isn’t optimal but for now, I have to make do with what I’ve got.

The Night Plan
Now this is where the real magic happens.

With this bundle, one can get more than triple the amount of data allotted to the previous plan at almost half the price.

The night plan is also not something novel, it’s something people are using already, It’s something I’ve talked about before, but:

It’s not something I’ve talked about like this.

(One, two, three……… wow! that’s way too many “something”s! )

This something is:



Airtel’s SmartTrybe Night browsing!

With the Trybe Night Browsing, you are allotted 1.5GB data for just ₦50 to surf between 12am and 5am.

So instead of buying “a wrap of bubble gum” – even orbit costs 4 times that amount – I’d rather get an MTN ₦1k equivalent plan for ₦50 and lose some sleep.

One good thing about this plan is that it can be done again and again in one night. I.e. if your internet connection speed is fast and you exhaust your 1.5GB under 30 minutes, you can subscribe again and again and again in one night.

Now let’s do some mathematics:

The day plan is static – ₦2,500 gives me 10GB for 30days while the night plan is rather dynamic (kind of).

Assuming I subscribe ₦50 for 1.5GB every night for 30days (which is highly improbable) that would result in 45GB used in a month for just a thousand five.

However, a more likely scenario would be subscribing say 4 times a night, 3 days a week – 72GB @ ₦2,400 – tallying my total consumption for a month to 82GB (approximately) for a little under ₦5k.

Let’s take a more extreme scenario:

Consider a junkie, an internet junkie, or wait, let’s call this guy an extremist; who does the night bundle 4 times a night every night for 30 days because Airtel’s connection is so “strong” in his area.

His consumption for a month would be 180GB @ ₦6k!

Now the case of this extremist is possible because even if the dude is achieving speeds (downloads) of just 400KB/s – which is something low for off-peak browsing – he would consume 6GB in a little over 4 hours and remember, the plan is valid from 12am – 5am: 5 hours!

How I came about these figures is simple mathematics, go figure!

Wait, you think these computations are all abstract and theoretical jargon?

Well, have a look at how much time it took me to finish 600MB.

Enough data porn, here’s the essence of this article and how you can get the plans outlined.

Understand: The economy is dwindling, hell even the minister of finance herself confessed it – “the nation has gone into recession” – so it would be rather unwise to “waste money on MB”.

Paying close attention to the plans here, you’d notice that one is for serious, very serious work while the other is for the frivolities the internet offers.

So instead of downloading TV Series on the meagre 1.5GB you will be allotted for a whopping ₦1,000, batch download them at night for just ₦50.




How to get the bundles
To get the “day plan”, you have to be on GLO and have ₦2,500 on your line. To get the bundle:

If ₦2,500 is too much/10GB too much for you (or too small), do well to check out other interestingly cheap Glo bundles available.

For the night bundle, you have to be an Airtel subscriber and be on the Airtel SmartTrybe.

To join the Trybe, simply dial *312# and follow the appropriate commands.

To get the 1.5GB for ₦50, still dial the *312# (after joining Trybe) and select the Trybe Night browsing option, then the 1.5GB option.

After exhausting your 1.5GB you can subscribe again by dialing *312# and choosing the 1.5GB option.

Tip: Sometimes you might get the error message that “the plan is not available on your current……..bla …..bla…..”. It’s all jargon. All you need to do is rejoin SmartTrybe (it’s free) and subscribe.
That’s it folks! – My current internet subscription. If Airtel is not good in your locality, then you can also enjoy MTN’s 500MB for ₦25 night plan. The only downside about MTN’s plan is:

6. Osinbajo may go missing after a meeting — Prophet Muyideen Kasali

The general overseer of the Hour of Mercy Prayer Ministry, Prophet Muyideen Kasali, unveiled some of his prophecies for the year 2016, on January 10. The blind prophet prophesied that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo would go missing after leaving a meeting.

Just as we have new prophecies from various men of God for the new year 2017, there were lots of 2016 prophecies from major men of God that did not come to pass.

1. Buhari may be killed – Father Mbaka

Earlier in 2016, controversial Catholic priest and spiritual leader of Adoration Ministry, Reverend Fr. Ejike Mbaka, raised the alarm over what he says is a plot to assassinate President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016.

He said:- There will be a plot to assassinate President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016. “Many people are planning, as it is revealed, to kill Buhari. There are many plans on how to eliminate his life so that corruption, embezzlement will continue.

By the end of this year, Buhari will expose the names of the people who looted money meant for our roads. What we are suffering now is the resultant effect of the last malignant administration that was intrinsically corrupt. What we are suffering now arose from past administration. But the Lord says there is hope.

Many people are going to suffer. We should all get ready. But after the suffering, we will all smile.”

But throughout year 2016, there were no reports of plots to kill the President. Also, the president did not expose the names of looters. Instead, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo explained that the government did not name the looters because doing so would jeopardize ongoing investigations.

2. New STD will emerge — Pastor E. A. Adeboye

Part of the prophecies that the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, gave on January 1, 2016 was a new s*xually transmitted disease would surface in 2016. This did not happen. The only new virus that made headline last year was Zika virus – a mosquito-borne flavivirus.

The general overseer of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations, T.B Joshua, got the attention of everyone in the world when he predicted that Democratic Party candidate, Hillary Clinton, will win the US presidential election but alas, Republican candidate, Donald Trump, won!

4. El-rufai will die if he doesn’t revoke preaching law — Apostle Suleiman

Apostle Johnson Suleiman of the Omega Fire Ministry declared that Governor El-Rufai will die if he does not revoke the controversial preaching bill he came up with. During a service, Apostle Suleiman expressed distaste over the bill, noting that such amounted to suppressing the freedom of religion.

The state government has not revoked the bill although the noise over it has died down. But el-Rufai is still living despite the non-revocation of the bill.

Also, Apostle Suleiman predicted that except Americans prayed, President Barack Obama would seek third term with a likelihood of the presidential elections not holding. Well, you know the end result as there was no such case of desire for tenure elongation by Obama.

Obama even campaigned for his party’s (Democratic Party) candidate, Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump. At no time, before or during the electioneering was any issue about seeking third term in office raised.

5. The Queen of England may die — Prophet Joshua Iginla

In January 2016, the general overseer of Champions Royal Assembly, Prophet Joshua Iginla, an Abuja-based pastor, also had many predictions which cut beyond Nigeria. Some of the predictions came to pass while one of the most controversial of them was that the Queen of England may die.

He said: “The Queen of England should pray for her health. I see strong challenge and should pray to see the end of the year.” The Queen had a spectacular 90th birthday celebration in the year in review with no major health issue.
