FamilyRe: Advice On Growth Develop[ment For A Two Year Old Child by IamWilliams(op): 8:35am On May 29, 2025
social development over academic development for now... Thanks boss
Onegai:
He's doing great.

Infact, he's doing a little too great sad

Social development at age 2 is far more important than Academic development.

So put down the academic books and give him crayons and paper and find 2-3 year olds he can run around and play with, a lot.

Because at the end of the day, Nigerians push their kids hard but are outclassed by White and Asian kids easily in Primary school.

FamilyAdvice On Growth Develop[ment For A Two Year Old Child by IamWilliams(op): 4:38pm On May 28, 2025
Good day my fellow Nairalanders.

I would like to seek your opinions regarding my child's academics, development, social well being, and growth. He is a two year and one month old child, and got enrolled into a school last month starting at Kindergarten 1. He can currently recite A to Z, 1 - 14, some few cartoon poems, recognize his body parts, and identify few objects.

I just want your advice for things you feel i can do more as a father to aid his growth as i dont want my child to lack information and skills that i lacked from my early age.

Your opinions will be highly appreciated

All your points are noted and appreciated and infact, I will see to it that we move to a spacious apartment next month... Thanks

Esthered:
Congrats on your conversion. You aren't doing anything wrong as you're a frugal person with a spouse that shares that vision with you so enjoy it and maximize it.
To answer your question, personal finance gurus say that rent shouldn't be more than your 3 months salary. If you're building your place then you're justified to maintain that room till you complete your building but if you're not building yet I believe your wife is really UNDERSTANDING.

I started that way but ensured that I got a bigger space courtesy my oga as I needed a maid for my son.

A family in a single room is too FRUGAL based on your income but if your wife is fine with it especially with the current state of the economy. How do you guy mikpo with a child in the room (dont mind me biko)

First of all, ₦350,000 is six digits, not "less than six digits". You would have been the one doing the wrong thing if you weren't working towards a goal. Rather, let your present discomfort strengthen your resolve to finish building your house asap. There's a quote I learnt from someone on Twitter today that suits you well. Let me see if I can fetch it.
I totally understand your point.. Please don't forget to return with the quote when you get it
CareerWhat Kind Of Apartment Should A Salary Earner Of Less Than 6 Digit Live In by IamWilliams(op): 5:22pm On Oct 13, 2024
Dear Nairalanders,

I got a full-time job not too long ago at a bank and my observations are explained below.

The other day, my line manager was showing me something on her phone and a message from Fairmoney loan overdue payment reminder popped up on her screen. Another colleague as well would at times request that I borrow her as little as N10k till month end. Infact, there was a time another colleague who earns close to 800k was telling me that purchasing a land next year was her biggest plan meaning that that she currently has no land, meanwhile, I bought my first land at Ikorodu while I was a contract staff earning N140k in early 2023. While I was also a contract staff, my Team Lead then was a BET9ja addict and would most times borrow N500 from we contract staff that he was supervising to transport him home. There was also a colleague who we were both contract staff back then. She would always tell me stories of how kind and loving her late father was and how he sent she and her brothers to private universities all through and even at a point got a car and driver to move them around. The lady in question is still a contact staff and age is now totally against her for the conversion hence she is contemplating learning tailoring sideways and getting a loan from the bank to rent a shop.

After careful observations, i realized that these afformentioned people live in 3 to 2 bedroom flat apartment and their children attend expensive schools (except my contract staff colleague who is sinlge). They are also fond of ordering food from fast food.

For me personally, before I became a full-time staff, I was married with a child and stayed in a single room apartment and when I got converted last year, I didn't move out and still stay in same room till date. I earn around N350k and my two year old child attends a school down my street of N20k per term. With me keeping bills at minimum level, it avails me funds to use for other project like buying more land and building and also renting shop for wifey and all sorts.. But at times I wonder if I am the one doing something wrong, I wonder if my colleagues are the ones leaving a better life while I am over here starving myself and family.

Please share your though on the following.

1) People earning 150k- 250k, 300k-450k, 500k-700k, 800k upwards, what kind of apartment should they live in and what kind of school should they enrol their children in?

2) Am I the one with the problem regarding my lifestyle.

I have a BSC and MSC in Economics (BSC-2:2 grade, MSC-2:1 grade). Now, in recent time, I've been nuturing the idea of working in any of the BIG 4 with PWC been my biggest wish

Question is, Is working in PWC still possible considering that my background is just customer service or i should just forget the idea ?

FoodRe: S. Africa Has Fifth Most KFC Outlets In The World, Nigeria 38 -PIX by IamWilliams(m): 6:33pm On Nov 14, 2023
WannaHowzit:
Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is the most prolific fast-food brand in South Africa, with the American fried chicken giant boasting 1,052 stores in the country – the fifth-largest market globally.

KFC first opened its doors 75 years ago when the famous Colonel Harland Sanders created a recipe for fried chicken with a list of 11 secret herbs and spices scratched out on the back of his kitchen door.

Today, the company still follows this recipe in its 27,000 restaurants in over 145 countries and territories around the world.

KFC has rapidly grown, with a new restaurant opening somewhere in the world every six hours.

South Africa has not been excluded from this growth, as the American fast-food giant now has 1,052 stores in the country.

However, its growth in South Africa has been far from easy. KFC had to contend with international sanctions and stiff local competition.

KFC launched in South Africa in 1971 and grew quickly around the country. This growth was halted in 1987 as the company was forced to divest its outlets and trademarks to a South African holding company called Devco.

This was after the US Congress passed a law forbidding American companies from owning South African assets due to the government’s policy of Apartheid.

KFC continued to earn an administrative fee from Devco, and its 120 franchisee-owned stores were unaffected.

The company reacquired its former assets when sanctions were lifted in 1994. By then, there were around 300 KFC outlets in the country.

KFC has since grown into South Africa’s largest fast-food outlet, with 1,052 stores in the country, according to its owner Yum! Brands’ financial results for the third quarter of 2023.

Only 49 are directly owned by the company, and the other 1,003 are franchisee-owned. The company has grown by 44 stores in the past year.

The fried chicken giant is also the most popular fast-food brand in the country, with 10 million South Africans eating there at least once in the past four weeks, according to a study by Eighty20.

and back to the topic, if she doesn't wash it, then who will? as long as she's living under your roof and provisions, she's entitled to take care of you... as long as she ensures you wear clean clothes, eat good food and have an empty balls...
Thank you for this.. very apt

RomanceShould Wives Who Wash Their Husbands' Clothes Been Seen Slaves? by IamWilliams(op): 3:29pm On Nov 14, 2023
At work this morning, i was casually talking to a colleague about how my shirt that my wife washed got blown away by breeze at night then all of a sudden, my other colleagues (two females and a male) pounced on me calling me a dictator who enslaves his wife. While i was annoyed about the ladies who kept on saying i needed to love my wife more, wash my clothes myself or buy washing machine, i was more annoyed with the guy who referred to me as one of those husbands that women should run from.

People in the house, is there anything wrong for a wife to wash her husband's clothes? Does it denote slavery?

Most preferable mould yours even if you mould 2000 first and you can buy later on

Imagine you buying a tipper of sand @ 80K or less then use the remaining to get cement and labor

You could make something from nothing ✅

Lights out✅

I’ll advice you mould your block to your taste.. if you mould at least 3,000 blocks it could make the structure

Then save up for all iron works

Building takes time but getting the materials done before anything is most important ✅

Good 😊 luck 🍀
