About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Agro Commodity Price Reporter to monitor and report weekly grain prices in major markets across Northern Nigeria. The role involves visiting designated markets regularly to collect real-time pricing and market intelligence on key agro commodities such as beans, maize, sorghum, millet, soybeans, sesame, melon and rice.

This position is ideal for someone who lives in or very close to major grain markets and has strong local knowledge of agricultural trade dynamics.

Key Responsibilities:
• Visit assigned grain markets regularly (daily or weekly as required)
• Collect accurate and up-to-date prices of specified commodities
• Identify market trends, price fluctuations, and factors influencing price movements
• Submit data reports via mobile tools or online platforms on time
• Occasionally provide brief commentary or insights on market conditions

Requirements:
• Residence near or within a major grain market in Northern Nigeria is mandatory
• Strong understanding of local agro commodity trade practices
• Ability to collect reliable, unbiased price information from multiple sources
• Basic literacy and ability to use a smartphone for data entry and communication
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Trustworthiness and punctuality

• Prior experience in market reporting, data collection, or agricultural extension
• Background in agriculture, agribusiness, rural development, or economics
• Familiarity with Hausa and/or local languages used in the market

I will need the tractor when I decide to add tomatoes and some other vegetables to our crop later next year. So it's not a pressing need for my farm right now.

If you have an average budget and access to tractor rental, I'll suggest you continue with tractor rental.

Otherwise, this could be a good deal if you don't mind wasting 3-5 days for what tractor could do in a day.
