Please Nairaland family, to those who have experienced this feelings before, how do you cope with yourself seeing your secondary school mates, past years neighborhood colleagues, your parents friends children and etcetera that you know; you see them doing well maybe some have traveled out of the country or still here in Nigeria doing awesomely. And anytime you come across their pictures or videos on social media you can tell they are doing well and you can also tell the life patterns they could be living might not be a circle ⭕ pattern.



I feel depressed when I see this. Like how can I also change my life 🧬 pattern and live a happy Life. I'm just here working 9 to 5 collecting minimum wage while my friends and colleagues and others are climbing higher.

I just read a story of a guy called DIDI who came back from Abroad whose childhood friend he always help got him murdered when he pretended to show him something in the Bush in Edo state. Amadin Williams ran away to Benin City where he was caught and handed over to the police.

Similar thing happened in Lagos state,in 1999,where a guy in my area went with his gangs,to steal from the home of his childhood friend who came back from Germany then,he met his father downstairs,he beat up the old man,gun him down while in the act,his son came down wanting to know what was happening,he too was gun down by his long term friend...but as luck may have it,he survived even when people thought he was dead.

That was how he told police people what happened and the criminal was arrested at one hotel at isolo area of Lagos.

If u must help,help from a distance and avoid them being close.

It's was giving me serious problems. I borrowed to make major repairs and within a week,it got spoilt again.i exhausted my savings. Also the mechanics weren't good enough.I was frustrated, no other way to make money. My daughter got admission, school fees pilled up for others. House rent. My wife started nagging. I was down.
I sold d damaged car, pay my daughter school fees and d outstanding ones for younger ones, pay rent, settle debts that I incured when I was making repairs . Then d last dole, I went to collect my original 2:1 certificate in my university and focused on the government job that I passed aptitude, written exam and passed interview. I was never called for letter till now. They rubbished d process at d appointment letter stage.
Have run away from home looking for a better way to start all over again.
How can I remember this kind of year and be happy.

My year was a living hell

First my brother contracted liver infestion and was swelling... This brother if mine is our family most intelligent and most promising.. he is in uniben..

Omoh, we gathered resources, till we got exhausted.. I went ND borrowed a loan from a very greedy fellow.. a loan of 500k to pay 75k monthly...

We added to what we had ND it saved him.. turns out it's pancreas infection , not liver.

Okay.. leme continue to huzle.. thieves came and Rob my major pos stand.. I lost over 400k..

I borrowed 150k with my new deep freezer @25k monthly interest, it got lost in 10 days

My shop rent increased from 80k to 200k.. my house rent moved from 140k to 250.


I am so so indebt.. that I started borrowing from loa app to survive since no one will borrow me again.. I got about 100k from. Loan app, the terms are too short.. and once I huzle with it.. thier interest take all my gains.. friends who have helped me with 100k, 50k 100k, 80k.. all got their due days on my neck.. they all want their money at the same. Time...

On top of that, my landlord gave me quit notice, over a long time issue I had with a co tennat.. issues that has been solved oo like 3 years ago.. he refused to listen to plea.. ND court started to serve me. Paper...

In six months, my properties were thrown out.. at that same time.. my shop rent was due.. the landlord (another different one) locked the shop with a two weeks notice

My best friend who always comes to rescue when I was down, lost her fidelity bank job.. sh was a head of operations..

I saw hell!!!!

I all. My friends wouldn't house me.. many cuz of their gf.. many started avoiding me.. then a girl who had crush on me. Before took me. Into her house...

But sh wanted sex everyday.. honestly that was not what was on my mind.. but sh will not have it saying I dnt love her.. while I am dieing of problems..

Eventually she looked for a reason and sent me out.. I packed my stuffs and started sleeping in her passage..

The truth is, this New Tax Law can widen the poverty gap, especially among the middle class. There’s really no debate about that.

If people earning between ₦67,000 - ₦249,000 a month will have to pay 15% in Personal Income Tax despite the sudden and outrageous increases in electricity tariffs, fuel prices, foodstuff, medicines, and other essential goods, then we should be genuinely concerned. I mean the so-called middle-income earners. Those who are earning ₦250,000 above will pay more than 15%.

See, some of you who are already rich might not bother. You may even want to insult me for this post, but I strongly advise you not to. This post has nothing to do with politics; it is about welfare economics.

Here is the simple truth: a government should not aggressively tax a population that is already economically distressed. That is the plain reality.

I understand that the current federal government prioritises revenue generation over poverty reduction, but there should still be some level of sensitivity.

Nigeria’s population is currently among the poorest in the world. This new tax law will not close the poverty gap; if anything, it risks widening it.
