I've tried to tell people this, but the PROUD Anti-Jakpa Crew will always dispute it. My own mother pays the yearly rent for at least TWO families I know of and also the school fees and sundry other costs for many children. With Xmas close at hand she's already put aside many thousands of dollars for various people back in Nigeria. This is replicated across thousands of Nigerian families.

As I was telling someone recently, most families in Nigeria that have a decent living standard - home in good neighborhood with running water and flush toilet, own a car, feed well and run a generator constantly, they have someone abroad sending them money regularly.

But living in Nigeria is better than living in the UK & US. We know that already

True l have worked nearly every part of Lagos. Even in the so called island in Lagos there are people that earns less than 50 thousand naira. Though must of them accommodation is been provided for them. Lagos mainland is the worst. You will see big companies paying their low staff 20 to 30 thousand as salaries. Some of them has families. Salary earners dey suffer for this Lagos o. Most of the time when nairalandlers will be writing I earn six figures, my take home is half a million,my monthly pay is 1.5 million. I will just be laughing. Na naija all of us dey sha. We know how e dey go offline.
I met a man he should be 45 to 50yrs old. He is doing a security job. He told me he runs two security job in a day, that is he runs one shift in the morning and other shift at night at different companies. I ask him how is the salary like? He told me, the two jobs combined gives him 80 thousand naira. As in 24 hours everyday in 30 days he earns 80 thousand naira. One day the man collapse at work. he was lucky to be rush to the hospital on time.

If you are doing a Job that isn't fetching you something little everyday, then there's a problem, considering the present State of the economy. It is even much worse when the salary at the end of the month is as meagre, minute, microscopic and tiny as the mustard seed. Before month end, you would have amassed lots and lots of debt. When u eventually get paid, you have to go settle these debts and end up broke. The cycle continues I'm that fashion. In fact,many traders find it difficult to give u items on credit when they know u are just a private sch teacher cos they know your salary is peanut.
People even tend to disrespect and talk down on you, when then know u as a teacher. Like it's a course been a teacher right now. I can't believe that after all my years in sch, I would come out to teach and get paid less than 40k from which I will pay my rent,feed and cloth. How do I save? Then you're the first born without parents. I want to advice young guys to desist from staying too long on the teaching job cos it's like wasting your youthful age. The system is really bad.

I'm on my way trecking back home. I left the house since 6am this morning. I had six period of teaching mathematics today and have to mark notes every blessed day and also give assignment. My transport cost is 500 daily. I'm really frustrated. As I get home, there's no food to eat and salary hasn't been paid yet till 2nd of next month

I had this same mentality when I was in Lagos. Bro, don’t deceive yasef, a lot of people are earning big outside Lagos. Go to Ota in Ogun state, go to BAT In Ibadan. Alot.

Thank God he opened my eyes quick. Sufferness full that Lagos oo.

You spend wasted (at least) 16 years to become a (say) pharmacist only to give testimony in church/mosque for getting a 70k employment by a 'shinonso' who has never stepped foot in the 4 walls of a classroom, whose only means of education is a 7-years nwa-boy 'education' under his oga's tutorship in his 2-by-2 chemist shop.
