*Happy new year to all POS operators in Anambra state,*


Let us start by thanking God Almighty for the gift of life and for every good thing he has done for us in the year 2023.

We wish to use this opportunity to thank the outgoing AMMBAN national Excos for their efforts towards making AMMBAN great. We also want to welcome the newly elected exco of AMMBAN at the national level. To our state exco, we appreciate your efforts alot. To our members, may God Almighty continue to bless both our businesses and our families, Amen.

2023 was a very challenging year for most Nigerian especially POS operators. The inflation that was brought about by the removal of fuel subsidy has really affected our businesses alot. To make matters worse the unhealthy competition ( pricing) among pos operators has made the business less viable.

2023 led to the introduction of levy for pos operators in Anambra state. This act only brought alot of psychological and financial pressure on most pos operators in Anambra state. Thank God for the speedy intervention of the members of state executive Council of AMMBAN in Anambra state. The result of this intervention led to reduction of fhe amount from N30,000 annually to N5,000 Annually. We wish to thank all the Government officials that played a role in the reduction of this levy. God will continue to bless all of you.

As we wait for further directive from Anambra internally Generated Revenue service ( AIRS) , we urge very pos operators in Anambra state to cooperate with Anambra state Government. It is our responsibility to pay Government tax/ levy to enable the government to continue with its developmental projects. We shall make it public once we get more information on this.

The members of the state executive Council of AMMBAN Anambra State Chapter are working tirelessly to make sure the Anambra state Government carrys POS operators along in 2024.

Over the years, pos operators in Nigeria only focused their attention on only cash in and cash out i.e withdraw and transfer. All these are going to change in 2024. AMMBAN at the national level has been able to enter into partnership with governmental and non governmental bodies to create more business opportunities for it's members. The business opportunities includes but not limited to creation of more financial services; NIN/BVN enrolment services; Marketing of Police VGS app ( this will add more revenue to the agent pocket and assist in crime fighting in Anambra state);etc.

AMMBAN members are an important asset to Anambra State Government. With our members spread across every town in Anambra state, we can assist them drive some of its policies to the grassroot. For example we can help drive Anambra health insurance schemes and other Government programmes down to the grassroot using our network of agents. AMMBAN members played an important role in driving financial inclusion in Anambra and we can take advantage of the experiences we gathered on the field to drive Government programmes.

Agency banking business is one of the highest employers of labour in Anambra state especially among our youth. As of today we have over 30,000 pos operators in Anambra state. We urge the government of Anambra to support these youth by provide a micro credit scheme for pos operators in Anambra state via AMMBAN. We are aware of 1 youth 2 skills programme of Anambra state Government and we would love to be part of it.

Finally, we urge every pos operators in Anambra state whom are yet to join us to do so now, because there are alot of benefits attached membership. We shall use the first quarter of 2024 to drive for more members to join our association.
