@Ikenna, The lion king.
Thanks so much for ur input. It's just that I found myself in an environment whr 90% of people herd own a car & dey always come up with one reason or the other telling me not to buy this but buy that brand. But yet I see people driving the cars they advice me not to buy.

I had to accost two different mechanic close to my area for advice as well and dey gave me their own opinion. You won't believe that my sister who don't know how to drive also ask me not to buy a particular brand cos someone told her and her husband the issues he had with his car.

Politics / President Jonathan, Why Do You Engage And Condone Corruption, Terrorism, And Imp by ibikunleA(m): 3:06am On Jan 10, 2015
have heard time and time again from you, President Jonathan, that one of the reasons I should vote for you is to ensure the continuity of your programs. You repeated this at your Lagos State campaign rally when you angrily asked me for my vote. You concurrently criticised Nigerians in the diaspora and Nigerians on social media, whom you accused of unfairly criticizing your government.

You have forgotten that millions of Nigerians on social media, including yours truly, voted for you in 2011 because we were deceived into believing that you had a vision and a plan for Nigeria. You reeled out 91 electoral promises and we thought you really did intend to fulfill at least 75% of those promises. Unfortunately, you fulfilled only 8 out of the 91 electoral promises you made during your campaign as you moved from state to state, raising the expectations of millions of Nigerians, only for you to dash our hopes. Do you want me to allow the continuity of the stealing in your administration that you said is not corruption?

Where is Nigeria's missing $20b generated from crude oil sales? Where is the audit report indicting your administration for stealing $20b? Where is the N4 trillion you have spent on security in the last 4 years? Where is the $50m per day that you have generated for yourself since 2010 from crude oil theft in conjunction with the 12 oil tankers, PEACE 1-12 belonging to your wife under the protection of the Nigerian Navy? Where is the $1b that you and Stella Oduah stole in the aviation sector under your fake airport remodeling and aviation transformation agenda? Where is the N3-N4b per year that you budgeted for food at Aso Rock?

Where are the reports of all the fake committees that you have set up so far? There should be close to 100 committees.

Why did you hire soldiers and policemen to drive your campaign buses to the Northwest and Northeast because Nigerians have refused to do so at any price?

Why are you using soldiers and policemen to paste your campaign posters across Nigeria simply because ordinary Nigerians have refused to do it for you?

Why are you bastardizing our soldiers and policemen and misusing them?

Why did you transport thousands of people from 17 southern states to Lagos for your campaign rally to deceive Nigerians that Lagosians support you? Why did you induce them with bribes to come to Lagos for your campaign rally?

Where are the almost 300 Chibok girls that your service chiefs told us they had initially rescued, only for them to tell us that they had not rescued them. To make matters worse for your electability, your ministers and service chiefs told us numerous times that you know where the Chibok girls are; yet 8 months after they were kidnapped, you have not rescued them. Where are the remaining women, girls and boys running into the thousands who have been made sex slaves and suicide bombers by terrorists who should have been exterminated by you in a war on terror poorly executed by you?

Why did you dance over the graves of the almost 100 Nigerians that were killed at the Nyanya Abuja Bus Park by refusing to postpone your political rally as a gesture of respect towards the dead? Why did you do the same thing after over 200 Kano residents were killed by Boko Haram at the Kano Mosque close to the palace of the Emir of Kano? Why did you repeat this act of dancing "azonto" and "skelewu" at a PDP political campaign rally after over 50 boys were slaughtered by Boko Haram at a Federal Government-owned boarding school in Borno State? This is why I was really surprised to see you postpone your meeting with the PDP campaign council because of your sister's death. Your actions show that lives of ordinary Nigerians mean nothing to you. As long as you family members are fine, you don't care who dies. Nonetheless may the soul of your sister rest in perfect peace.

Why have your ministers and PDP spokespersons been engaging in doublespeak on the APC and General Buhari's purported support for insurgency? Why have they been saying after each bomb blast that APC and General Buhari are behind the planning and execution of each bomb blast only for the same people to say recently that all panels set up to investigate the APC and Buhari found no evidence whatsoever linking the APC and General Buhari to Boko Haram and terrorism? Why do you like engaging in petty politics? Why are you playing politics with the lives of Nigerians? You said that you know those who are supporting Boko Haram and that they are in your government but how come you are yet to fish them out and arrest them?

How come you said, before any investigation was carried out after the Oct. 1st 2010 bomb blast, that MEND had nothing to do with the the bomb blast only for you to state on the 8th of January, 2015, almost 4 years after, that MEND was responsible for the Oct. 1st bomb blast? Why are you inconsistent?

Why did you say that you have no enemies when you know that as Nigeria's Chief Executive, your job is to step on toes as you sign legislative bills passed by the National Assembly into law and enforce them? Why did you say that your style of leadership is to engage only in the prevention of corruption but not in punishing it by sending criminals to prison? What should we do with our criminal and penal code that prescribes various terms of imprisonment for various crimes? Should those laws be discarded? Could this be responsible for why almost every prison under your administration has experienced jail breaks on a weekly basis? Would you please tell us why you engage in and condone corruption, criminality, militancy, terrorism, theft, and impunity?

Politics / How APC Screened Buhari And Educational Qualification For Presidential Contest B by ibikunleA(m): 12:32pm On Jan 04, 2015
In view of so much interest shown in the non-presentation of the Certificates of Buhari, APC Presidential candidate to INEC, much interest has been shown in determining whether he has met the Constitution's education qualification. As a member of the APC screening Committee, i can affirm unequivocally that Gen. Buhari met the education qualification prescribed by the constitution.

General M. Buhari joined the Nigerian Army in 1962, attended military training before proceeding to Officers Cadets Training at Mons Officer Cadet School, Aldershot, UK. In 1963 he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant and appointed Platoon Commander 2nd Infantry Battalion, Abeokuta. During this same period he attended the Platoon Commander's Course at the Nigerian Military College, Kaduna. He later also attended Mechanical Transport Officers Course at the Army Mechanical Transport School,Borden, UK. General Buhari attended the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, India in 1973 and from 1979 to 1980 as a Colonel, he attended the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Still the question remains, has General Buhari without presenting especially his school certificate or its equivalent met the education precondition set for Presidential Candidates in the Constitution?

To begin with, the Constitution does not prescribe the presentation or show of any Certificate to qualify for election to the office of President. Under section 131(d) of our Military Constitution, a person shall be qualified for election to the office of President if "he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent." While a Certificate may unequivocably show that a contestant has been educated up to at least School Certificate level, his education without a Certificate may show, again unequivocably that he has been educated up to the equivalent of School Certificate level. For example, assuming A is the best all A student in Ajuwa Grammar School, Okeagbe, Akoko. Now on the very day before the commencement of the West African School Certificate, he sexually harrassed the daughter of the English teacher as a result of which he was dismissed, will A be said not to have met the education qualification of section 131(d) of the Constitution?

In my view A has not only been educated up to at least School Certificate level he would also be deemed to have been educated to its equivalent. This position finds support in section 131(d) which neither prescribed a pass which is required for certification nor a fail which denies it. The interest of the Constitution is with the level of the education of the candidate howsoever acquired, not the certificate he aquires ipso facto.

The APC screening Committee was made up of several eminent highly educated and enlightened men and one Woman. They came to the conclusion after putting APC presidential aspirants through a most rigorous test that all the APC aspirants met the constitutional qualifications including education qualification to contest for election to the office of President. They confirm this by awarding them a certificate. The qualification set by the Constitution for contest is the level of education not its certificate. While a certificate may irrevocably prove that the education qualification has been met, it could in the same manner prove rebut ably only that it has been met. Where for example a Certificate has been purchased for example in "oluwole" as it has happened in several instances, a candidate though in possession of a certificate cannot be said to have met the education qualification of the Constitution because he has not been educated not to talk of up to school certificate level.

With reference to General Buhari having regard to his unimpeachable military training, an irrefutable presumption was properly made by the APC screening Committee that he met the education qualification set by the Constitution. Those who contest this or who intend to contest that he met the education qualification of section 131(d) have the burden to disprove the irrefutable presumption not General Buhari.

Politics / Must Read: A Charlatan Mockery Of Nigeria's Democracy By Taiwo Adetiloye by ibikunleA(m): 9:32pm On Jan 03, 2015
Nothing drives a nation to penury than if certain of its citizens are by themselves their own enemies and by no means can such nation progress if it continues to wallow in the absurdity of its own folly. Permit me to state that for democracy in Nigeria to strive urgent steps must be taken to guide the institutions against pervasive individuals who seek to gain cheap popularity instead of selflessly dedicating themselves to nation building.

President Goodluck Jonathan's campaign billboards flood major roads in Abuja
Pix by Femi Ipaye
There is the clear pointer of how the executive arm of government especially the presidency seeks to perpetuate their stay in power against the will of the masses even when it is so glaring that winning an election can be near impossible given the little such government has done to improve the lots of the people. Why I asked, is it that Nigerians have never had a true leader that would respect him or herself and say “well, I have tried and I am so sorry that we could not fully implement our transformation agenda as promised…and for these reasons I will not seek a re-election.”? And, frankly, that is the highest honor a man can take home, if he is honest enough to accept his leadership failures and allow a more capable hand to do what would be in the overall interest of his followers.

The mentality of some inept personalities in power or on the corridor of power is to think without them the nation cannot strive, while they seek to hold the poor masses by their jugular veins with no remorse for their poor leadership skills vis-vis high level corruption in the nation.

The legislative arm of the Nigeria government is not left out. Since 1999 till present, the PDP lawmakers in the national assemble have performed abysmally below average. It is still unimaginable that the likes of Farouk Lawan, Stella Oduah and Allison Madueke have not be brought to book simply because our lawmakers themselves have at many times deepened and soiled their clothes in the odorizing corruption, paying themselves enormous wages along with furniture allowances and more. At this point, it is perfidious if those who ought to guide our constitutional laws are themselves the law-breakers.

To cap it all, come 2015 progressive Nigerians at home and in diaspora ask for nothing short of free and fair elections. They seek a new tide of leadership that will truly change their untold plights. They seek a highly decent Nigeria society with respect for human rights and the rule of law. They seek a nation where corruption for the high and mighty pen stealing billions is judged harder than the jobless bank robber who goes to steal few thousands from the bank. They seek a nation that prides itself in the diversity of its people and the prosperity of all.

Politics / Governor Fayose Explodes: Presidential Contest A Do-or-die Affair. by ibikunleA(m): 12:21am On Jan 03, 2015
The inaugural meeting of the southwest PDP was held in Akure, at the Government House of the State (Ondo State).

The meeting was organized by the PDP South-West co-ordinator, Gov. Olusegun Mimiko. On the high table were Gov. Olusegun Mimiko, Senitor Iyiola Omisore, Mr. Kolapo Ogunjobi, Senator Musilu Obanikoro, Governor Ayo Fayose, a governorship aspirant in Oyo State and various leaders from the South-West.

At the beginning of the meeting, the host appealed to all the South-West PDP members and leaders to be united so as for them to be able to gain more votes from the zone. And people were given opportunity to give opinion on how they could get more votes for the presidential election in 2015 and win other positions.

A speaker from Lagos State made a comment that Senator Muslim Obanikoro’s son, Ibrahim Obanikoro, that contested for the position of council chairman in one of the LCDA’s in Lagos State, defeated Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his area but was not given the position. He mentioned that that they had the key in winning Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that Asiwaju only claims what he cannot do.

And the speaker further said that they needed the support of the Presidency to do so many things in Lagos State, concerning the forth-coming election.

Also, another speaker from Lagos State emphasized on issue of disbursement of funds for the election. He stressed that funds were always late for disbursement for elections, so they wanted early disbursement so that they could deliver.

While another speaker from another state said they were happy for the meeting because it would foster peace among the southwest PDP members and that they could move on easily.

A speaker from Oyo State laid emphasis on use of the media and said the party should go more on the media attack on the opposition party (APC). He mentioned that effective use of the media was the weapon being used by APC. Gov. Mimiko now stated that they made findings of who were the owners of some dailies and that it was discovered that those media outfits did not belong to members of the APC, and thus PDP could equally hijack the media.

A speaker from Osun State that he had told Gov. Mimiko to help them tell the President to use his power and office to quash Ogbeni Aregbesola before the general elections, so that PDP could produce more votes for the President and that the idea of fighting Gov. Aregbesola would be by going to the Court of Appeal which he said could be influenced to remove Aregbesola. So, he urged the honourable leaders of our amiable party to look into the issue of Osun State.

Discussions now moved on to the strategy that would be used for winning the presidential election;
• Delegates present at the meeting discussed more on campaign that they should do less of rallies, instead, they should embark on full campaign with propaganda that would tarnish the image of APC presidential candidate, Gen. Buhari. And part of what should be used use to campaign against Gen. Buhari in Lagos is that he was the one who stopped the Railway metro project of Lagos State 30 years ago, and that instead of Buhari completing the project, he paid the penalty for breaching the contract of the railway metro line project.
• Delegates present laid serious emphasis on using the media to dent the image of the presidential candidate of APC.

Some delegates maintained that the change that the emperor of Bourdillon wanted to change Nig. democracy to totalitarian dictatorship. Members stated that when PDP had no State in the South-west, the President got good votes from the South-west and now that the party has two States, it would be able to win all the other States if the two States in its kitty are well utilised.

Senator Omisore said in his speech that propaganda of any form shoule be utilised and that all efforts should be mobilized to win the Presidency as without the presidency the party is nothing.

In the speech of Mr. Ayo Fayose, he said propaganda would only waste time and that attack is the best from of defence. He maintained that the party in general and the South-west PDP needed to be valiant to face the Tinubus anywhere they are. He further said we have the control of police and the army and “I CAN NOT AFFORD TO LOSE MY CONTROL ON POLICE AND THE ARMY” and without Jonathan being the president we will lose the control. Further, he said the presidential election is a do or die affair but Gov. Mimiko quickly countered that it should not be a do or die affair but rather a do-and-win affair.

Governor Fayose later said they should forget about all governorship elections and concentrate on the presidential election, that once President Jonathan returns, we could be declaring the governorship candidates of PDP in various States as they like, meaning that the Presidential election is very paramount.

As the meeting progressed, leaders at the meeting put Oyo State in focus and maintained that PDP could get more votes for the president there by begging both Chief Alao Akala and Chief Rasheed Ladoja to align their parties with the PDP since they have no presidential aspirant and there is every need to throw out Ajimobi, Amosun with using militant thugs loyal to PDP.

Mr. Kolapo Ogunjobi representing Otunba Gbenga Daniel said they PDP on ground in Ijebu side of Ogun State and they were grassrooters and that they could deliver with good resources.

Sen. Musilu Obanikoro in his own speech said 3 days after he lost the PDP primary election, that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu came to him in private which he said was quite unusual of him. He said Tinubu asked him how much he had spent and that he was ready to give him 2 billion Naira and a senatorial seat from APC in Lagos State. He said he refused the offer and stressed that they could just imagine how smart and clever Asiwaju is. He further stated that Cardinal James Odunmbaku (Baba Eto) was almost at the concluding part of decamping to PDP and that even he had even concluded with the presidency in Aso Rock before Asiwaju hijacked him back with the position of Director-General of Campaign of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. He said they could see that Tinubu is the smart type. Senator Obanikoro further said he was the only person that could match Bola Ahmed Tinubu because he said he knew his tactics. He further emphasized that with cash in his hand, Tinubu is nobody.

While Governor Fayose intervened by saying that there was nothing special in Lagos and that he normally visited markets in Lagos every weekend and before the people in the market would recognize him, they would have said so many things in his presence that they won’t know. Govenor Fayose further said he was coming to Lagos to teach people the market approach to sensitizing the people on the need to support PDP and dump APC.

After all this, the communiqué prepared sequel to which the press was allowed entry into the place for a brief coverage before they were dispersed again. At the end, they set up various committees on such areas as:
• SECURITY
• TRADITIONAL
• CONTACTS
• INEC etc.

Committee on contacts will meet important personalities to canvass them, they mention people like Jimoh Ibrahim in Ondo, the Ogun people mentioned Sen. Anthony Adefuye as part of the personalities to be visited, and many other personalities.

Committee on INEC would monitor various INEC commissioners in various south-west states and try as much as possible to lure them with money to compromise in favour of our great party.

Committee on traditional rulers would meet up all Obas in the southwest for consultation on the presidential election and use financial gratification to lure them as many of them really need stomach infrastructure, according to Governor Fayose. Governor Mimiko maintained that many of those Obas are actually hungry and with good amount of money they could get them to support PDP

Committee on security is saddled with the responsibility to work with the police and the army. Leaders of the party further tasked the students at both the National (NANS) and southwest level, state level to monitor various institutions, polling booths and make sure that the election would go in favour of Jonathan. It was also observed that the National body of student (NANS) submitted a proposal for a youth conference that will hold in FUTA in January where the South-west students would adopt Jonathan as their presidential candidate.

Some leaders also talked about APC’s strategy of deploying 10 persons per polling booth and that they were aware of it and stated that all leaders should task themselves to use councilors in all their various booths.

Lastly, the South-west coordinator said the next meeting that would hold in Ibadan which would involve fund-raising for the presidential election from stakeholders of the PDP south-west and the meeting would be used to shake Oyo once again urging that the Governorship aspirant of PDP to be prepared.

The meeting ended with closing prayer from a delegate from Ondo State.
