even if its N50,000 or N20,000 you have, you can use it also to buy Horn, you can imports car horns for 50,000, and sell for N600 or N700, for set, you can still turn your capital to X3..... Just know your way thats all. if you have good products, you will not waist your time looking for buyer.

@op, motor spare parts is good if you understand the market, I have elder brothers in USA,UK,Spain, They are both into motor/parts importation, I do invest my own money, While the one in USA specialised mostly on container, Cars,Parts,, the one in UK, Buys cheap righthand vehicles,Bucher the parts and load same on container, The one in spain does same, he buys cars too, butcher and load, But he does not use container, He specialized on ford transit Bus, he prefer to Buy 3 ford transit bus loaded with engines, parts, Mainly Volkswagen(goft 3) engines and underneats, Nissan vannets, toyota, And when he loads this 3 ford transits, its equivalent to 40ft container, its will be cleared, I hire drivers to help me drive them to Trinity,Where we rent warehouse, sell off the parts, while selling the parts, Aboki guys would not allow the 3fords transit to leave Lagos-Bini, They will buy those fords. I only invest in the one in spain, Because I can buy 1 ford transit bus, while he loads it with his parts, or he buys the ford transit bus, and my parts will be inside..... with all this, i could invest little of like 600k to get 800k for Bus, or invest 600k for parts, and make 1.2m as profits. The hot cake parts is Volkswagen(golf3) Engine and underneat, I can invest like 300k for 10 engines and underneat, and when its get to the market, i sell them sharp sharp for (very cheap) 120k as clearance, I get my 1.2 or more than. You cannot do it yourself, you need to have someone over there. and also most importantly, any of those IBo guys that have links to buyers that help you sells, They will tell you what and what is moving in the market and they will tell you how much its sold, then its left for you to do your calculation to balance incase you wish to import.....Good luck.
my brother thank u so much. I hv someone in US. but to be frank i hv only 500k and i want to import only toyota breakpads for now, and i know with this amount, it can't fill up a container, what is the best means to bring it into the country? i am waiting for ur response. Thank u.

Nnewi is the No1 market for spare parts in Nigeria
I have heard that from a friend, but do u think i will make more gain selling to people from onitsha and Nnewi despite the fact that the goods will bart in lagos port and i will have to get them down to the east which requires a lot of money for transportation? pls advice me because i am just new in this business and i want a place that i will be able to maximize my profit.

If you are going for importation, not just retail of auto-parts, Lagos is the best place for you. It will easier for you to clear your goods and warehouse them in Lagos that in Onitsha. Retailers from Onitsha always go to Lagos to replace stock. Besides, you will spend more on haulage of your goods from Lagos Port to Onitsha.
thank u bro, you information is very enlightening.

Listen to this guy, going to China to import spare parts isn't the issue...selling them fast is the big deal. but if u follow this guy I quoted, u will never regret, this was the reason y I first asked u if u live in USA or know someone living there....I have someone that imports from Spain too, but European spare parts don't sell as fast and profitable as American spare parts...do more research to see if u can get an American parts specialist collabo, it will help u a lot. good luck
But can someone buy toyota parts from US wouldn't it be expensive? i think it will be expensive thats why most people go to china for it.

please my advise for you is that u learn motor parts business. how they sell, who they sell to , how much they sell. how to know original and fake etc. spend like 3 months to learn it.
2. first pay for a shop and start selling. ware house need will still come.
3. u can source ur suppliers from China. just send them the parts number and they will do it for you.
4 . do not use all the amount just use half and order two or three parts in bulk.
5. do not give any nairaland money lest.....

am into motor parts even
my brother thanks. i want to order two parts. mainly break pads and oil filters. i have already made some inquiries from the dealers of these parts and they told me the ones that are easily sellable so i want to go for them. but my brother i dnt really want to start learning the trade. i will go to china with someone that is into the line who will help me by these parts and sell to retailers. i will use have of the money as u said. pls do u by any chance have an idea of what gain i can make from selling one oil filter for instance to a retailer? i jst want to have an idea what gain i will make when i purchase in bulk.

America is the number 1 country to source for automobile spare parts, so are u in United States or have someone fully ready, willing and free to source the parts for you in USA?

Note: you will need to buy accidented cars in US at very affordable price there and then you knock them down as in pieces the cars and remove some parts that will fill the container space.

You don't even need a warehouse to start this business, all you need is to buy the right spare parts (Honda Accord 2004, 05, 07, 08, etc, Toyota camry 02, 03, 04, 07, etc, Toyota Siena 99, 2002, etc).

Then you rent a warehouse space at Ladipo spare parts market in Lagos; can help u organize all these if truly u are ready.

Don't buy from Europe....most of their cars are outdated here and the new ones are costlier than American own due to good insurance policy in USA.

Due to the current dollar-naira exchange rate, you should budget between: 6million - 12million naira to purchase spare parts that will fill a 40ft container.

You can ask more questions and I will try to answer u
my brither. i am in nigeria and i want to source for these parts in china. the amount u mentioned is scary u know that business is better when u start it small. so i am looking at two million for a start. i dnt need to fill up 40ft container for a business that i am jst starting. what do u think?

If the igbos happen to get their Biafra, how is it going to affect the economy of lagos? being the highest importer in the country and are paying the highest tax in custom duty, how will this affect the lagos Economy? Some yorubas say they won't feel it, while the igbos say that lagos will be like a grave yard..For me, I think Lagos will feel it in no small measure...The reason multi national companies troop into lagos is because of the population and when lagos is suddenly cut into almost half, what do you think that will happen? Your unbiased contribution will be appreciated..
