You were the prosecutor and your representative was in court when the court refered the case to DPP who advised the case be thrown out. What an illiterate CP!
FreeStuffsNG: He looks like an Italian in his picture as a youth. May God console his family and the Roman Catholic Church
Yeah, huge number of Italians and German Nazis moved to Argentina after the second world war because Argentina was the only country in the world that accepted them.
kpankpangolo: $12K for that play-play beatdown? I have a country to sell anyone who believes this. $100 - $200 at most for such a feat. Money doesn’t grow on trees and Burna no resemble who hold cash like that. Davido sef won’t try something so immature.
What's 20 million Naira bro to this A-list artists? You think Burna doesn't worth at least 5 million USD?
DeJoeee: I quite agree with you somehow, but our state governors are getting too lazy and cowardly and it's affecting every other arm of govt. because the lesser the governors' power, the more powerful the President and of course a powerful President will pocket the judiciary and the Legislature. Yesterday I was reading about the 1999 Senate procedures, and I made a shocking discovery. The then Senate President (Sen. Evan Enwerem) was impeached simply because He lined up with the service Chiefs to see off President Obasanjo who was travelling abroad. Like He was accused of being subservient to the Executive which is a letdown to Senators and the Office he represents. Can the present Senate replicate that? your guess is as good as mine
The Senate President today can't be impeached because of such issue or any other issue at all provided he's with the president but if he falls out of line, he'll be impeached without commiting any crime. If he goes to court, he can never win.
Judiciary has lost its independence therefore the executive has become so powerful. Any other person who doesn't align with the president is bound to go down and the judiciary will endorse it. Reason why there's no powerful governor or legislator again.
DeJoeee: Judging from recent political events, it is getting evidently clear that our governor and Senators have lost some power and influence.
The 1999/2003 produced the most powerful set of governors Nigeria have ever produced in terms of putting the government at the center on their toes. Tinubu as governor of Lagos state challenged the federal government head on. Orji Uzor Kalu as governor of Abia state did not give the Federal government any breathing space. He went on to float a brand-new political party (PPA) and installed two governors with his new party (Abia and Imo governors).
You dare not declare a state of emergency on Gov. Odili, even the appointed administrator will not risk stepping his foot in Rivers state for fear of the unknown. Gov. Fayose was removed as Governor, He did not retire to his mansion and ask his supporters to continue supporting Obasanjo's Federal govt. that removed him, rather he sought asylum in Orji Uzor Kalu's govt. house in Abia state and was launching missiles from their till he reclaimed his mandate. Gov. Peter Obi was sacked twice by individuals heavily connected to Aso rock, he did not go home to sleep, rather he fought gallantly to reclaim his mandate. Gov. Victor Attah of AkwaIbom state built an independent power plant when he felt the FG generated power is not enough for AkwaIbom state development effort, the FG fought him (on grounds that power generation is on the exclusive list) and he fought back gallantly, he did not go about announcing endorsement for OBJ second term bid to curry Favour from him.
In those days, federal government visit state government houses to lobby state governors to support FG policies, today state governors are reportedly visiting Aso rock every now and then like sycophants. All in all, the state powers are shrinking while the central government is getting more powerful. This trend is not good for our democracy and quest for true federalism.
You may not agree with me but it's not about the governors, it's about the Judiciary esp Supreme Court. I wouldn't want to explain further but if you have been in Nigeria over the last 30 years and followed Nigerian judiciary now and then you'd understand better.
Things have changed but people don't seem to realize that democracy is fast deteriorating in Nigeria esp independence of each arm of govt compared to the past.
optimistic0001: Either we don't pay attention or we forget too soon. When trump came in during his first term, he brought down price of crude from $90+ a barrel to as low as $45 a barrel. So why are they acting like he won't do something about oil price or the price won't slump
It's because they're dumb, extremely dumb. Even during the campaign, Trump kept saying he will cause the price of oil and energy generally to come down so as to reduce inflation in his country. Whatever Trump is doing is deliberate and all for the betterment of his country. He doesn't care about any other country and he's right about it.
Only nonentity, who can't think outside the box to move their own country forward blame or abuse him.
Racoon: Kenneth Okonkwo of LP is the Reno Omokri/ Femi Fani-Kayode of APC.
He's not. According to Kenneth, Peter Obi is too cool and wants things to be done following due process. He wants Obi to adopt every means necessary to achieve his goal but Obi doesn't see things that way. That's why Kenneth left.
Making unnecessary noise. Over 70% of Canada's trade goes to the United States and Canada's economy is the size of Texas. If US pulls the plug, Canada's economy will be destroyed. Some leaders don't know how to be diplomatic when they clearly know they're a Junior partner in the alliance.
Constitution was amended after that debacle to give clarify that the President can't do such in a democratic settings.
President can declare the SoE but can't suspend elected officials. That was why President Jonathan couldn't remove the Governors when he declared SoE in some states in the North East.
favouritecandy: It is possible that people like Dr. Reuben Abati are either unaware of that law, perhaps think it is unconstitutional, or even have a different interpretation of the law
This line
Are you sure you're educated? I've read the Nigerian constitution several times from A to Z and nowhere does the President has power to suspend an elected officials.
Even the Supreme Court ruled that the President has no such powers due to previous case that was why President Jonathan couldn't suspend hose Governors in the North even when he declared SoE
Obj did that and sacked or better still, suspended the governor. However, the court later ruled that going by the provisions of the Constitution, the President has no power whatsoever to remove a governor or any elected officials even in the State of Emergency situation. That was why Goodluck Jonathan couldn't removed those governors in the North even when he declared SoE.
I'm quite appalled by the illegal act of suspending the Governor when the constitution is clearly against it.
Gistsnaijamedia: The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Dauda, over alleged irregularities in compensation payments to displaced residents of Gishiri community.
The minister threatened to remove Dauda from office if any fraudulent activities were uncovered.
Good for them. After all, who owns the land owns everything. I was shocked to hear a South African minister saying on CNN that white minority of less than 8% population owns more than 75% of the land in SA. Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
Adebishow: When allegations were made against Saraki by a senator, did he step down?
He remained Senate President while the investigation were done by a committee in the Senate. He only didn't preside over the affairs of the Senate on the day that the Senate discussed the report, findings, recommendations of the committee that investigated it.
That is the proper way to go about it. Asking Apabio to step down because of unfounded allegations os unfair and most definitely set a bad precedent in the Senate.
I didn't say he should step down per say because I still like him because of his past performance as a governor. What I'm saying is, such allegations bring disrepute to the Senate and the highest officer being the subject of the case shouldn't be around so as not to influence the outcome of investigation of his case. That's supposed to be the norm Sir.
Adebishow: Why would Apabio step down, the petition will be referred to Senate Committee on Ethics for Review and Disciplinary actions.
The Senate President is not in that committee.
I only would suggest that he should allow the Deputy Senate President preside on the affairs of the day the Senate will review the submission of the committee when they present it to the Senate.
I'm from Akwa Ibom and naturally should support Akpabio because he did so well as our Governor. However, in any parliament in the world when such allegation is made against a principal officer let alone the highest principal officer like Akpabio being the Senate President and Chairman of National Assembly, he ought to step down for proper investigation. That's the procedure
Wait, why are we even saying we are a Federal Republic when a state can't appoint its own Judges independent of the NJC? I don't understand. Our constitution is a fraudulent document.
yarimo: Criminal minded people, by tomorrow he will be among the people claiming international business man with billions in his account
You mean Bashir will just sent money to another person account without thoroughly do a very basic thing as checking the details including names? Then Bashir Ahmad is as dumb and useless as Mohammadu Buhari.
Bashir talking about Court? If to say na ordinary Nigerian complain about court and its injustice and corruption going on there, una for call us wailers
Krismas: Europe is about to be caught in a web of its own GREED My prayer is, make Europe vex, take d advice of madman Zelensky, by forming their own independent NATO The whole Europe, wey only Germany defeat in just 9months, under Hitler Useless colonial masters
They don't have any reasonable military. It's US that's protecting them. If US pulls out their Army from Europe, they're gone.
God1000: Such an insult, Europe will learn the hard way
As far as the US is concerned under Donald trump, Europe doesn't matter at all.
This is the price of entrusting the continent's defence and security on another country in another continent.
Let's hope Europe gets sense next time.
For over 3 years since the war started, European leaders continuously say they can never talk or negotiate with Putin. Only Hungarian PM Victor Orban called for peace and negotiation but he was insulted by EU leaders. Now, a new US President is elected who wants negotiation and peace to end the killings, those who vowed never to be at the same table with Putin are now crying they're excluded. Make it makes sense please! Why didn't any EU leader initiate peace to be at the table?
