Am a Unilorin Graduate from the Department of Economics.....After watching from the sidelines all these while, I decided to take an intensive training by reading from page 0-220 of this thread before joining the house fully today.

onegig: Can you open and check if the hard disk is physically present. If it is, might be bad due to mechanical damage while in transit.

yea bro, it works! I opened the back cover to see maybe the hard disk is present, discovered d cable that connect it to the laptop is loose. Have to pin it back, close the back cover and BOOM....switch on the laptop....and it start up normally.....Thanks

deji2009: try f10 several time to get to bios
and look for the bios version you have i would
compare this version to the one on hp website.

After that go to diagnostics and run me a
test of the hard drive. make note of the result.
then f9 to load setup default

press f10 to save and exit then
attempt to boot again

what model is your hp. fo rexample hp cq60
windows vista?

Have they opened the laptop recently ?
e.g. the bios battery out or a change of
motherboard

The BIOS version is F.1c while the BIOS vendor is Insyde

Ran a Diagnostics on the PRIMARY HARD DISK SELF TEST and it displays "HARD DISK NOT EXIST" and when I ran it on MEMORY TEST "it says MEMORY TEST PASS". After doing f9 and F10 then it automatically boot itself and went back to same old story

The model is HP PAVILION DV6 6c11nr(window 7)

Actually the laptop was bought in US but when it arrives my address, the cover beneath the battery cover was slightly open...which I forced to close then later I realised that all the screw used in closing the back cover were pulled out.....Naija Custom I guess

Bios application error (501) ENTER continue and if I should click on enter It displays this on-screen message "Boot Device not Found, please install an operating system on your hard disk. Hard disk (3f0); F2 system diagnostic; for more information, please visit www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"
if I should tab F2, it will display:System Diagnostics
F1-system information
F2-Start Up Test
F3-Run-in Test
F4-hard disk
F11-Error Log and ESC to continue
If I should tab F1, it will display system info; F2 and F3 will display testing system memory and when is 100% it displayed memory tested OK....hard disk does not exist and F4 display "hard disk doest not exist"
