olu98: Pls wot of subscription.will unilorin provide wifi service 4 us.cos tablet without subscription is useless. The answer 2 ur ? Bro, just pray Network Operating Center(NOC) distribute password(it should come as a token, let's say 250 per semester)on time. Dose guys are annoying, office located beside Engineering Lecture Theater ......The University of Ilorin will, on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, commission its N95 million Fibre-Optics Network project. The World Bank-assisted Science and Technology Education Post Basic (STEP-B) funded project, which is designed to enhance internet and intranet connectivity in the University, involves massive deployment of Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure at the Network Operating Centre (NOC) and underground laying of cables across the main campus. The project was handled by Lagos-based ICT company, Information Gateway (Infogate) Digital Systems Limited. This is aside from several other projects to be commissioned by the University Visitor during the Convocation Ceremonies. According to a statement made available to Unilorin Bulletin by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Technology and Innovation (RTI), Prof. F.A. Oladele, who is the University Project Manager for STEP-B projects, the commissioning of the fibre optics project will be done at the University Auditorium and at the NOC. A foremost alumnus of the University and senior official of the Nigeria Office of the World Bank, Abuja, Dr. O. A. Adekola and the National Coordinator of STEP-B projects at the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, Mrs. G. O. Takerhi, are among dignitaries expected to attend the occasion. Prof. Oladele said, “Before this Project, internet connectivity on campus was poor, as browsing on the net was very slow, epileptic and erratic. Downloading and uploading of documents were slow, time consuming and cumbersome”. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, however, pointed out that “the reverse is the case now. Internet connectivity is better, more consistent and faster especially with the expansion of our bandwidth to 155 megabits per second as recently approved by the University Council”. Other Step-B funded projects in the University that have strengthened the capacity of the University to deliver on its core mandate of teaching, research and community service include state-of-the-art laboratories in Chemistry and Electrical Engineering Departments from where several research breakthroughs have been recorded. The provision of robust network of fibre-optics has enhanced internet connectivity and the cyber reputation of the University. Also, the Network Operating Centre (NOC) has been equipped with modern ICT equipment and the Training /Seminar room of the Centre for Research, Development and In-House Training (CREDIT) has been made ICT compliant. This fibre-optics project was the result of the dedicated effort of a University Committee set up to prepare a road-map on ICT infrastructure and deployment of fibre-optics network in the University for the approval of the Federal Ministry of Education and the World Bank. The Committee comprised Prof. K.L. Ayorinde, Prof. O.A. Mokuolu, Prof. I.A. Adimula, Prof. M.O. Yusuf, Dr (Mrs.) O.V. Mejabi, Dr. J.F. Opadiji, and Mr. Hussain O. Akande. The proposal was approved and subjected to National Competitive Bidding (NCB) in October last year where out of eight contractors, Infogate Digital System Limited emerged winner. Prof. Oladele disclosed that the University has put in place adequate arrangements to sustain the fibre optics and other STEP-B projects at the expiration of the World Bank intervention period. He disclosed that the University administration had decided to include these projects in the University budget while the Federal Ministry of Education searches for alternative continuous funding option. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor then urged “staff and students to take advantage of these facilities to conduct industry-oriented research, which would address the country’s socio-economic, industrial, political and environmental challenges”. |

Scholari: wat do dey talk abt during orientation and do dey fix date for it for freshers?orientation s just a guide on how u can bcome a gud student 4 d stipulated years....advise ranging 4rm attending classes, don't join cultism, report any cases of cultism, don't fight because in Unilorin fightn is = 2 Expel, dress decently....dis 1 s koko, obey rules and regulations.....s just basically advise and date is alwayz set 4 it....not compulsory 4 u 2 attend....not all of u will av d chance 2 get into d auditorium due 2 its limited space and thr s always skl orientation, faculty orientation and some departments do conduct. |
Matcruz: Pls i wanna ask these qtns...........is it compulsory 4 a fresher to be attendin lectures? Is dre anytin like attendance mark 4 a fresher attendin lectures? Is dre anytin lyk impromtu test apart frm general test 4 a fresher?...........ur replies ar highly welcom.......thkx@Matcruz, one thing I like about a university is the privilege it gives 2 her students. S not like a secondary skl where attendance s taken in class or ur friends, teachers will see u if u dint go 4 class. If u lik, u can stay out of class untill d exam day....s nobody's business not even ur level adviser business but if u knw u want 2 succeed in life,u don't wanna 'FACE TANKE' and u want ur parent's and generation yet unborn 2 pray 4 u....pls and pls, attend classes because d moment u start skippn classes...u've started failing. Most lecturers don't make use of attendance but thr ar some psyche d@ make use of it...and dey can use d@ against u...because in d students handbook that u will b given...Unilorin stipulated that u attend @ least 75% of classes 4 u 2 qualify 4 exams...so dey can do and undo. 2 b on a saver side....pls attend classes though not all classes u will av 2 attend because of some factors and 4 d impromtu test, impromtu test s rare in some department. If thr s gonna b a test, s always announce lik 2,3weeks 2 d day but if u miss a test...some lecturers will set a make up test while some will tell u....go and prepare hard in ur exam because they can't conduct another test. Test Mark is always 30 while Exam is 70....so if u fail 2 attend class d day a test is conducted and d lecturer won't conduct make up test.....u've lost 30marks already....and gettn 50/70 in exam s DIE. I hope av tried a little bit in answering ur ?s |
sinmisolaoluwa: hii peepz....Now that we'v nt been able to register our courses, does it mean we'r nt gonna start lecture by monday? even d hostel portal too.......secondly....can we proceed to pay sch fees? any history and international studies in the house?let"s meet ooooo@sinmi and other fresh students, take a chill, don't b 2 anxious 2 get things done....ur level adviser s meant 2 xplain things 2 u b4 u proceed and not all level advisers av d tyme 2 do that....w@ dey do s 2 assign a sound and grounded student 2 do that 4 dem. Seeing d list of courses 2 b offered on ur level adviser door does not mean u goin 2 register everything....thr is 'compulsory, required and electives courses. So, u av a choice 2 decide on which 2 register among d ones pasted, apart 4rm ur level adviser, pls try and take ur tyme 2 meet up wit some of the returning students(@ least 2) of ur various departments 4 dem 2 advise u on which and which 2 register. They've been thr, dey've written exam on the courses u ar about registering, so dey will surely not mislead u but pls try and meet up with some of the best students not students that don't come 2 skl regularly. If ur level adviser s not that busy, he will xplain things 2 u batch by batch, d portal won't b close anytyme soon, so I don't see d reason y u guyz ar in such a hurry 2 get ur courses registered....ooh!!! Av forgotten, freshers wit fresh blood. Well, u can attend lectures despite d fact u've not registered ur courses and I doubt if lectures will commence nextweek monday, some lecturers might not even come 2 class until lik 2,3weeks 2 exam but lecture activites will commence fully after d convocation week. |
crowther15: Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the pre-degree programme in Arts, Arts Education, Agriculture, Engineering and Technology, Science and Science Education for the 2012/2013 academic session.I will lik 2 congratulates the admitted ones and for those still on d line I will still congratulate u guyz in advance because sooner or later ur story will change 4rm pendn 2 'congratulations!!! u've been offered admission in d better by far uni 2 study ur desired course' but d truth must b told, not all applicants that applied for admission in Unilorin that will gain admission....gospel Truth. My years in Unilorin had made mii understand that the surest way 2 gain admission into Unilorin is through remedial programme, so I will lik to advice the unlucky ones, as soon as they draw d curtain on this year admission and u dint find ur name(s)....pls and pls, if u knw u dnt want 2 stay home 4 another year or u don't want ur admission 2 b under probability....pls I will beg 2 u 2 apply 4 Unilorin Rems Programme. Is ur hard earned money, so nobody can tell you w@ or nt w@ 2 do with it...@mikky Thanks 4 d services once again and av found a solution 2 it, it was still locked but I was able 2 unlock it through the help of Nairalanders 4 free. |
