PoliticsNo Valid Winner Yet In Osogbo Fed. Const. Primary - Osun CPY by Idealplusgist(op): 1:30pm On May 19
There are strong indications that reports currently making the rounds on social media and other unofficial platforms claiming that a winner has emerged in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary cry election for Osogbo Federal Constituency are false, misleading, and should be completely disregarded by party members, delegates, and the general public.

This position is based on an official circular issued by the National Secretariat of the party on May 17, 2026, which clearly outlines the approved procedures for the collation and announcement of results arising from the National Assembly primary elections.

According to the directive, results are to pass through the following stages:

~ Ward Collation

~ Local Government Area (LGA) Collation

~ Designated Constituency Collation Centres

~ Submission of final results and reports to the National Headquarters in Abuja

The circular further states that no election committee is authorized to conduct media briefings or announce results within their respective states of assignment. Any official communication regarding outcomes, where necessary, is to be made only after the submission of all reports to the National Headquarters in Abuja.

In view of this clear directive, any individual or group claiming that a winner has already emerged in the Osogbo Federal Constituency primary is acting outside established party procedures. Such claims are premature, misleading, and should not be taken as official.

Sources close to the National Secretariat have described the purported announcement as an exercise in futility, stressing that election committees do not possess the authority to declare winners. Their responsibility, according to the established guidelines, is limited to conducting the exercise and transmitting the results and reports to the National Secretariat, where the final declaration of winners will be made.

Party faithful are therefore urged to remain calm and await formal communication from the appropriate authorities at the national level. The integrity of the process depends on strict adherence to the laid-down guidelines, and only announcements made in accordance with these procedures should be considered valid.

Until the National Secretariat completes the collation and verification process and issues an official declaration, no candidate can legitimately be regarded as the winner of the Osogbo Federal Constituency primary election.

Politics“my Victory Is Ordained By God, No Amount Of Scheming Can Upturn It” — Romeo by Idealplusgist(op): 11:06am On May 18

... _Pledges Quality Representation When Elected as Osogbo Federal Constituency Representative_

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Osogbo Federal Constituency, Prince Abdulrasheed Muideen Aderemi, popularly known as Romeo, has declared that his victory at the party’s primary election is divinely ordained and cannot be overturned by any form of manipulation.

Romeo made the declaration following his emphatic victory at the APC House of Representatives primary election held nationwide on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The frontline aspirant emerged victorious by a wide margin, securing overwhelming support from party members across the four local government areas (Osogbo, Olorunda, Irepodun, Orolu) that constitute Osogbo Federal Constituency. His victory reflects the confidence reposed in him by party leaders, and grassroots members who believe in his vision for effective and impactful representation.

Expressing profound gratitude to the leadership of the party and all members who participated in the exercise, Romeo described the outcome as a clear affirmation of the democratic will of APC members in the constituency.

“I return all glory to Almighty God for this victory. I am sincerely grateful to our respected leaders, delegates, and party faithful across Osogbo Federal Constituency for the trust and confidence they have placed in me,” he said.

Reacting to reports that some unsuccessful aspirants are attempting to manipulate the outcome of the primary, Romeo maintained that no amount of scheming can alter a mandate freely given by the delegates and ordained by God.

“This victory is ordained by God and confirmed by the overwhelming support of our delegates. No amount of scheming, manipulation, or political pressure can upturn what God has already settled,” he stated.

He called on all party members to remain calm and united, emphasizing that the APC must now close ranks and focus on securing victory at the general election.

“This is a time for reconciliation and unity. We are one progressive family, and together we must work to ensure a decisive victory for our great party in the forthcoming election,” Romeo added.

The APC candidate also reiterated his commitment to providing quality representation that will bring meaningful development to all communities within Osogbo Federal Constituency.

According to him, his legislative priorities will include youth empowerment, job creation, educational support, women development, healthcare improvement, and the attraction of critical constituency projects.

“By the grace of God, I will offer accessible, accountable, and result-driven representation. I will be a strong voice for our people and work tirelessly to deliver the dividends of democracy to every part of our constituency,” he assured.

Romeo further pledged not to take the confidence reposed in him for granted and promised to justify the mandate through dedicated service, integrity, and responsiveness to the needs of the people.

He concluded by extending a hand of fellowship to all co-aspirants and party stakeholders, urging them to join forces with him in the collective interest of the APC and the people of Osogbo Federal Constituency.

“This victory belongs to all of us. Together, we will strengthen our party and deliver the quality representation our people deserve.”

PoliticsGroup Bemoans Choice Of Ogunbiyi As APC Candidate For Osun West Senatorial Seat by Idealplusgist(op): 10:47am On May 02
Group Bemoans Choice Of Akin Ogunbiyi As APC Candidate For Osun West Senatorial Seat, Calls For A Level Playing Ground For All Aspirants

…imposition is a panacea for failure

A socio-political group within the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun West Senatorial District, the Osun West Renaissance Group, led by Dr Sikiru Ademolekun, has raised fresh concerns over the alleged emergence and endorsement of Dr Akin Ogunbiyi as the party’s preferred senatorial candidate, warning that any form of imposition could undermine the party’s electoral prospects.

The group further stressed that the credibility of the APC at this critical political moment depends largely on its ability to uphold fairness, equity, and internal democracy, warning that any perception of pre-determination could erode confidence among party faithful and weaken collective resolve across the district.

The group, in a statement reacting to an alleged communiqué purportedly issued on Thursday by the Osun West Senatorial Leader of the APC, Hon. Akintola Omolaoye, described the development as troubling and capable of creating unnecessary tension within the party.

According to the group, committed to promoting progressive ideals and inclusive governance within the APC, the reported endorsement is premature and inconsistent with the principles of internal democracy, stressing that all aspirants must be given a level playing ground through a credible and transparent primary process.

It added that internal democracy is not merely a procedural requirement but a strategic necessity, as it fosters inclusiveness, strengthens legitimacy, and enhances the party’s acceptability among the electorate.

The Osun West Renaissance Group also referenced a recent viral video featuring Dr Ogunbiyi, in which he was said to have downplayed the strength and electoral chances of the APC ahead of the forthcoming governorship election. The group noted that Ogunbiyi was quoted as attributing a statement to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu suggesting that the president was not expecting the APC to present a governorship candidate, and that Governor Ademola Adeleke had been invited to fly the party’s flag in the state.

The group noted that, in a highly competitive political environment, public perception matters significantly, and aspirants seeking the mandate of the party must consistently demonstrate alignment with its vision, messaging, and electoral objectives.

Describing the remarks as disturbing, the group stated that such utterances, if accurately represented, raise serious concerns about party loyalty and commitment at a critical time.

“At a time when the APC in Osun State requires unity, confidence, and strategic coordination to secure victory, it is unsettling to associate the party’s senatorial ticket with an individual whose public statements appear to undermine its chances,” the statement read.

The group further anchored its position on existing party guidelines, noting that the National Chairman of the APC, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, had earlier outlined clear conditions for the adoption of a consensus candidate, particularly that all aspirants must willingly agree to such an arrangement.

Quoting the guideline, the group stated that “all aspirants must accede to consensus before such an arrangement can be recognised by the party.” It, however, revealed that information at its disposal indicates that no such agreement has been reached among aspirants in the Osun West Senatorial District.

It emphasised that any deviation from clearly established guidelines could set a dangerous precedent, capable of undermining the integrity of the party’s internal processes beyond Osun West Senatorial District.

“Available information clearly shows that senatorial aspirants in Osun West have not, at any point, agreed to withdraw from the race or adopt a consensus candidate. On that basis, it is difficult to justify how any aspirant could be validly presented as a consensus choice,” the group asserted.

The group further pointed out what it described as an inconsistency in the party’s approach across the state. It noted that in Osun East and Osun Central Senatorial Districts, where the APC currently has incumbent senators, other aspirants have been allowed to purchase nomination forms and prepare for primary elections without restriction.

The group maintained that uniformity in the application of party rules across all senatorial districts is essential to sustaining trust, noting that any perceived disparity may create avoidable grievances among stakeholders.

It is therefore described as alarming that Osun West, where the party is expected to challenge an incumbent senator from the Accord Party, is the only district where such an alleged arrangement is being contemplated.

Dr Ademolekun stated that Osun West cannot be treated in isolation from other senatorial zones in the state, warning that any deviation from established norms could send wrong signals to party members and supporters.

“Why should Osun West be singled out for a different standard, especially in a district where the party needs to mobilise its full strength to unseat an incumbent? This raises serious questions about fairness and strategic consistency,” the statement added.

It warned that political processes that appear exclusionary often result in diminished enthusiasm among grassroots members, reduced mobilisation capacity, and unintended electoral consequences.

Reiterating that imposition remains a “panacea for failure,” the group warned that any attempt, real or perceived, to sideline other aspirants could trigger internal disaffection and weaken the party ahead of key elections.

Reaffirming its commitment to the success of the APC, the Osun West Renaissance Group called on the party’s national and state leadership to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged communiqué and ensure strict adherence to due process.

The group therefore urged that all necessary steps be taken to reassure aspirants and party members that the process leading to the emergence of the party’s candidate will be transparent, inclusive, and in strict compliance with established guidelines.

“We urge the leadership of our great party to provide a free, fair, and credible platform for all aspirants. Internal democracy is non-negotiable if we must preserve unity and achieve electoral success,” the group stated.

The group also appealed to party elders and stakeholders across Osun West and Osun State at large to intervene and safeguard the integrity of the APC, emphasising that transparency and inclusiveness remain key to sustaining confidence among party members.

The group reiterated that the unity, strength, and electoral success of the APC in Osun West will ultimately depend on the confidence of its members in the fairness of the process, not the preference of a select few.

PoliticsAPC Risks Backlash In Osun West If Brig. Biodun Bashir Adewinmbi Is Sidelined by Idealplusgist(op): 4:24pm On Apr 21
APC Risks Backlash in Osun West if Brig. Biodun Bashir Adewinmbi Is Sidelined - Group

APC’s failure to give the Osun West Senatorial District ticket to Brigadier General Biodun Bashir Adewinmbi (rtd) would not just be a missed opportunity—it could pose a serious political setback for the party in the district.

Brigadier General Adewinmbi represents a rare blend of credibility, discipline, experience, and grassroots appeal. In a political climate where voters are increasingly demanding integrity, competence, and proven leadership, sidelining such a figure may send the wrong signal to the electorate. It could reinforce narratives of internal injustice, favoritism, or a disconnect between party leadership and the aspirations of the people.

Osun West is not a district to be taken lightly. It requires a candidate who commands respect across communities, understands the dynamics of governance, and can effectively represent the people at the Red Chamber. Adewinmbi’s track record, both in public service and community engagement, positions him as a unifying force capable of consolidating party strength and attracting undecided voters.

Denying him the ticket risks alienating loyal supporters, weakening party cohesion, and opening the door for opposition parties to capitalize on internal dissatisfaction. In politics, perception matters as much as performance; a decision perceived as unjust or politically motivated can have far-reaching consequences at the polls.

If the APC truly aims to retain and strengthen its foothold in Osun West, it must prioritize merit, acceptability, and strategic advantage over narrow interests. Anything short of this could lead to avoidable electoral losses and a gradual erosion of the party’s influence in the district.

The choice before the party is clear: reward credibility and capacity—or risk the consequences of internal disunity and voter backlash.

Ogunbiyi’s Reckless Remarks Not APC’s Position, Raise Questions About His Loyalty — Osun West Youths

The Concerned Progressive Youths of Osun West have renewed their call for restraint, unity, and discipline among stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), warning against attempts by desperate politicians to create confusion within the party ahead of the 2027 senatorial elections.

In a statement released on Saturday, the group described as false and misleading the rumour that the Presidency had invited Governor Ademola Adeleke for any political engagement or alignment, insisting that such claims are deliberate fabrications aimed at destabilizing the APC.

“We categorically state that at no time did the Presidency invite Governor Adeleke. These are concocted stories designed to distract our members and create unnecessary tension within the progressive fold,” the statement read.

The group also reacted to a statement credited to Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, noting that the remarks, captured in a video currently circulating widely across social media platforms—do not represent the position of the APC in Osun State.

“The reckless statement from Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, as seen in a viral video making the rounds on social media, does not in any way represent the position of our great party. Rather, it raises serious concerns about his commitment to the ideals and discipline of the APC. A true party man, especially one aspiring to represent Osun West, would not act in a manner capable of jeopardizing the chances of the party in the forthcoming governorship election or throw the progressive family into confusion,” the group stated.

According to the youths, credible information available to them indicates that Governor Adeleke had made moves to join the APC but was firmly rejected by party leaders across all levels.

“It is on record that Governor Adeleke desperately sought to join the APC but was rebuffed by leaders of the party at all levels, including the apex leader of our great party, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, the Honourable Minister for Marine and Blue Economy. This is a man who has demonstrated unwavering commitment and love for the APC, working round the clock to ensure that the party reclaims Osun State in the August 15, 2026 governorship election,” the statement added.

Reiterating their warning, the group cautioned individuals bent on pursuing selfish political interests at the expense of party unity to desist or risk political isolation.

“It is unfortunate that some individuals, driven by personal ambition, are overheating the polity and attempting to mislead party faithful. The APC is bigger than any individual, and we will resist any attempt to destabilize it,” they warned.
The youths emphasized that the immediate priority of the party remains the August 15 governorship election, urging all members to rally behind the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

“Our focus must remain firmly on securing victory for our party and our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), who stands as the most credible and capable choice. The APC is well-positioned and fortified to win, particularly with the recent influx of high-profile defectors into our ranks,” the statement noted.

They highlighted the defection of two serving senators, three members of the House of Representatives, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, Hon. Kayode Oduoye, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun, and several other prominent figures from the PDP and Accord Party as a testament to the growing strength of the APC in Osun State.

“These defections have significantly boosted our structure and grassroots appeal, reaffirming the confidence of the people in the APC as the only viable platform for progress and good governance,” they said.
The group concluded by urging party faithful to remain united and focused.

“Victory is within reach if we remain disciplined, united, and committed. We call on all progressives to ignore distractions, close ranks, and work tirelessly towards delivering Osun State for the APC and AMBO on August 15,” the statement concluded.

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Spain Chapter and Secretary-General of the APC Diaspora Committee Chairmen, Prince Adeayo Tella, has called on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to consider appointing former Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.

Speaking in Madrid during an interview with Idealplusgist Correspondent, Amb. Tella emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening diplomatic, economic, and socio-cultural ties between Nigeria and Spain.

He noted that the appointment of Prof. Adewole would significantly enhance bilateral cooperation and promote mutual interests between both nations.

According to Amb. Tella, Prof. Adewole’s distinguished record in public service, academia, and governance makes him exceptionally qualified to represent Nigeria on the international stage. He highlighted Prof. Adewole’s tenure as Nigeria’s Minister of Health, during which he championed key reforms in the health sector, as well as his service as former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. These roles, he said, demonstrate a strong track record of leadership, integrity, and administrative excellence.

“Prof. Isaac Adewole is a seasoned administrator and a respected global health expert with vast international exposure,” Amb. PoliticsOsogbo Grammar School Land Dispute: Clarification On The Interest Of Public Awar by Idealplusgist(op): 7:43am On Jan 28
Osogbo Grammar School Land Dispute: Clarification On the interest of Public Awareness.

By Comrade Faith Ayomide..

This press statement is issued solely in the interest of truth and public enlightenment concerning the ongoing dispute over the Osogbo Grammar School land.

It is important to clarify that the Osun State Government does not support, encourage, or protect any form of land grabbing in Osogbo or in any part of the state.

With specific reference to the Osogbo Grammar School land, there is no approval by the government for the takeover, demolition, or alteration of any school structure by one Lekan Salami or any group of person.

Available information indicates that the Osun State Government is already challenging the consent judgment being paraded by the said Lekan Salami, which is allegedly being used as a basis to illegally acquire the school land. This legal step clearly shows that the government does not recognise the said judgment as a legitimate claim to ownership of the Osogbo Grammar School property.

Any act suggesting forcible entry, removal of roofs, demolition of buildings, or intimidation of stakeholders should therefore not be attributed to the Osun State Government, as such actions do not carry government backing or authorisation.

There is also no indication that the government has authorised the use of police or any security agency to harass alumni members or support any private land claim.

The dispute remains strictly a subject of judicial determination, and all concerned parties are encouraged to respect the rule of law and allow due process to prevail.

However, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Larooye II, the Ataoja of Osogbo, has been performing commendably in the fight against land grabbing across Osogbo. Credible information indicates that Kabiyesi will never allow any land grabber to intimidate residents or unlawfully seize anyone’s land. Furthermore, there is reliable evidence that Kabiyesi has taken decisive steps to curb land-grabbing activities and will not permit anyone to defraud or cheat another person.

This clarification is made to set the record straight, prevent misinformation, and reduce unnecessary tension within Osogbo and the wider public domain.

Addressing party faithful, traditional and community leaders, and political stakeholders from Ede North and other parts of Osun West, Adewinmbi described the scheme as a strategic intervention to promote economic inclusion and grassroots development.

In the spirit of the Yuletide and in line with his people-centred philosophy, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Odo-Otin Local Government and a 2027 House of Representatives Hopeful for Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, Hon. Eniade Damilare Francis has distributed cash grants and food items to no fewer than 6,000 households across the IBO Federal Constituency, covering the 38 APC wards in Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin Local Government Areas and other critical stakeholders of the society ranging from traders, artisans, NURTW members, Motorcycle Riders and the vulnerable, as well as leaders of the All Progressives Congress across the three local governments of the federal constituency.

The large-scale outreach, which targeted market women, Motorcycle riders popularly known as Okada, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), artisans and vulnerable families, was described by party leaders and beneficiaries as one of the most impactful grassroots interventions in the constituency in recent times.

Speaking during the distribution, Hon. Eniade said the initiative was driven by compassion and a firm belief that leadership must translate to tangible support for the people, especially during challenging economic times.

“This Yuletide intervention is about sharing hope, easing burdens and reminding our people that they are not alone. Leadership must be felt at the grassroots, not just heard in speeches. What we are doing today is a reflection of our commitment to inclusive governance and people-oriented service,” Eniade stated.

He added that the support was also meant to strengthen party unity and deepen the bond between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the grassroots.

“Across the 38 wards in Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin, our party remains one family. This gesture is to appreciate our loyal supporters and ensure that every family has a reason to smile this yuletide season,” he said.

APC leaders from across the constituency lauded the initiative, describing it as timely and exemplary. One of the party leaders noted that Eniade’s action reflects the core values of the APC.

Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, an elderstateman and chieftain of the APC in Osun noted, “This is leadership with a human face. Hon. Eniade has once again demonstrated that the APC is a party that truly cares for the masses. This intervention will go a long way in strengthening our structures across the wards,” an APC chieftain said.

Hon. Dele Adepoju, the Executive Chairman, Odo-Otin Local Government praised the inclusiveness of the exercise:

“From market women to Okada riders and NURTW members, nobody was left out. This is the kind of grassroots engagement that builds trust and sustains party loyalty,” he added.

Beneficiaries could not hide their excitement as they expressed gratitude for the support.

The Iyaloja General of Boripe LG leading other Iyalojas from the federal constituency said the assistance would help her family celebrate the season with dignity.

“This support came at the right time. With this food and cash, our children will enjoy this Christmas. May God bless Hon. Eniade,” she said.

Motorcycle riders from Odo-Otin also expressed appreciation:

“We feel remembered. Many politicians forget us after elections, but that is not the case with Hon. Eniade, he has always extended support to us at every given opportunity, today is another example of his regular display of goodwill that we enjoy in this Federal Constituency. This means a lot to us,” he remarked.

Similarly, a representative of the NURTW in the Federal Constituency described the gesture as morale-boosting for transport workers.
“Our members are grateful. This intervention shows that Hon. Eniade understands the struggles of the grassroots and stands with us,” he said.

"We are in complete support of the APC for the 2026 governorship elections and 2027 National and State Assembly elections", the NURTW representative concluded.

PoliticsOsun Lg: Eniade Hails Apex Court, Congratulates Osun Apc Lg Chairmen On Victory by Idealplusgist(op): 12:43pm On Dec 05, 2025
...it is a victory for grassroot development

Hon. Francis Eniade Damilare, frontline APC chieftain from Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, has described today’s Supreme Court judgement as a “resounding defeat for impunity” and a “historic validation of the people’s mandate brutally suppressed since 2022.”

In a sweeping and definitive verdict, the Supreme Court affirmed the constitutional autonomy of Local Governments in Osun State, just as the Apex court reprimanded the Osun State Attorney General for lacking the locus standi to drag the Federal Government to court on a matter clearly and already decided by the Supreme Court.

The ruling effectively dismantles what many within the APC have long described as a “calculated assault on grassroots democracy” by the PDP-led administration in Osun.

Reacting to the news if the victory, Hon. Eniade hailed the judgement as the “final burial of executive lawlessness,” congratulating all APC-elected Local Government Chairmen whose mandates were undermined but never erased.

“Today, justice has prevailed. The Supreme Court has exposed the shameless desperation of those who attempted to hijack local government administration. Our chairmen, duly elected by the people, now stand vindicated,” Eniade asserted.

He noted that the verdict is not only a legal triumph but also a moral judgment on an administration he accused of “serial constitutional violations and deliberate obstruction of grassroots governance.”

Eniade charged APC chairmen across the state to rise to the occasion, emphasizing that the victory places a renewed obligation on them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate.

“With autonomy restored and resources freed, there is no excuse for anything short of visible, people-oriented governance. The APC has always stood for progress, accountability, and development—and this moment calls for bold action,” he remarked.

The 2027 IBO House of Representatives hopeful commended the resilience of the APC family statewide, noting that the party remained united despite “provocations, intimidation, and political persecution.”

He also praised the Supreme Court for upholding the constitution and affirming that no state government has the authority to emasculate the third tier of government for partisan convenience.

“Osun people can now see clearly who stands for democracy and who stands against it,” Eniade added.

Hon. Eniade concluded by stating that the judgement has reenergized the APC ahead of future electoral battles, assuring party members that “the era of reckless disregard for the rule of law in Osun is gradually coming to an end.”

PoliticsTension Mounts In Ilesa After Killing Of NURTW Chieftain by Idealplusgist(op): 7:13pm On Nov 26, 2025
Tension gripped the city of Ilesa on Tuesday night following the gruesome killing of a prominent National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) figure, Ademoroti Adeboye, popularly known as Germani. The attack, which occurred around the Bolorunduro/Olomilagbala axis, has sparked fear and outrage among residents and union members in Ilesa East Local Government Area.

According to multiple eyewitness accounts, the assailants arrived at the victim’s residence around 10 p.m. in a Toyota Corolla sedan. Germani, who was reportedly preparing to retire for the night, was dragged out of his home before the attackers opened fire on him. When the gunshots appeared ineffective, the attackers allegedly switched tactics, striking him in the head with a heavy object. Witnesses claimed his skull was fractured before he was eventually butchered and left dead at the scene.

While the motive for the attack remains unclear, several residents who spoke under anonymity alleged that a notorious figure, Solomon Adefioye, popularly known as Solo Iwara, led the operation. The residents described him as a feared suspect with a reputation for violence. They claimed he has been linked to politically motivated killings in Osun State—allegations that have not been officially confirmed by authorities.

One resident described the attackers as “men on a mission,” adding:
“They went straight to his door—no shouting, no confusion. They dragged him out and kept shooting. When the bullets seemed not to work, they used something heavy on his head. It was horrifying.”

Another resident said they heard the victim shout “Solo Iwara” during the struggle.
“It was the dead of night. Everyone knows how dangerous that name is. Nobody dared step out,” the resident added, noting widespread fear of reprisals.

Some residents believe the killing may be connected to previous politically charged attacks in the area. One community member said:
“The pattern is similar to political assassinations we’ve seen. Germani was a strong APC member with influence in the NURTW. There were several attempts on his life after the 2022 and 2023 elections, and he even left Ilesa for a while out of fear.”

He further alleged that certain individuals suspected of involvement in earlier election-period killings “operate with protection from powerful sponsors,” though these claims remain unverified.

Following the attack, residents are calling on security agencies at both local and state levels to launch a thorough investigation.

A youth who visited the scene expressed fear over the brazenness of the killers:
“If attackers can enter a man’s home at 10 p.m., drag him out, shoot him, and still finish him off, then nobody is safe.”

Another resident appealed directly to law enforcement:
“We beg the police to save us. Solo Iwara was reportedly declared wanted before, left town, and later returned boasting that no one could touch him. Germani’s murder shows Ilesa won’t be safe until justice is done.”

Alfonso Slams U.S. Over “Country of Concern” Label, Rejects Military Threat: “Nigeria Is No Slave Colony”

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Switzerland Chapter, Dr Adebayo John Alfonso has strongly condemned the recent designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, describing the move—and the accompanying threat of U.S. military deployment—as “an affront to Nigeria’s sovereignty and national dignity.”

The designation reportedly follows alleged concerns over the killing of Nigerians by Islamic terrorists in Northern Nigeria. In a controversial statement, President Trump warned that failure by the Nigerian government to act decisively could prompt the U.S. Department of War to deploy troops to Africa’s most populous nation.

Reacting to the development, the Switzerland APC Chairman, Dr Adebayo Alfonso described the threat as “unacceptable, neo-imperialistic, and an insult to the collective sovereignty of the Nigerian people.”

“Nigeria is no longer a slave colony or an occupied territory,” the Chairman declared. “Our nation fought hard for its independence, and no foreign power—no matter how influential—has the moral or legal right to threaten invasion under the guise of humanitarian concern.”

He further emphasized that while Nigeria values its diplomatic relations with the United States and recognizes the shared commitment to global peace and security, any form of military action must be mutually agreed upon and conducted in partnership with the Nigerian government.

“If it is a joint operation aimed at strengthening counterterrorism efforts, that is acceptable,” he stated. “However, any unilateral invasion would be a gross violation of international law and an erosion of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.”

The Chairman reiterated that Nigeria remains a strategic ally in the global fight against terrorism and continues to engage with international partners through diplomatic and military cooperation.

“Unilateral intervention only occurs when there is irrefutable evidence that a government is complicit in the crisis,” he added. “That is certainly not the case with Nigeria. Our government has made tremendous sacrifices in combating insecurity, and those efforts deserve support, not condemnation.”

The APC leader urged the U.S. government to pursue diplomatic channels, strengthen intelligence sharing, and support Nigeria through capacity building, rather than threats of aggression.

“True allies do not issue ultimatums; they collaborate,” he concluded. “Nigeria’s sovereignty is not negotiable."

Dr Adebayo Alfonso also reacted to President Tinubu’s 15% Petrol Import Policy to Boost Economy and Strengthen U.S. and Nigeria Relations

The recent decision by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to introduce a 15% import policy on petrol from the United States is a strategic move to stimulate Nigeria’s economy. The policy is expected to enhance fuel accessibility across the nation while supporting ongoing developments such as the Dangote Refinery project.

This initiative will not only ensure a more stable supply of petrol for Nigerians but also reinforce economic and trade relations between Nigeria and the United States, fostering mutual growth and cooperation. Alfonso said.

Civil Group Demands Arrest, Impeachment of Osun Speaker Egbedun Over Alleged Death Threat to Monarch

A civil society organization, the Osun Youth Initiative for Good Governance (OYIGG), has demanded the immediate arrest of Honourable Olumide Wale Egbedun, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, following allegations that he issued a death threat against a traditional ruler, the Alasi of Asi, Oba Oyewale Olasunkanmi Isaac (Akorede I).

In a statement signed by its National Convener, Dr. Akande Adeyemi, OYIGG urged the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate and prosecute the Speaker, describing his alleged conduct as "rascality of the highest order."

The call comes after the Alasi of Asi lodged a petition on July 29th with the office of the Inspector-General of Police, following the circulation of a leaked audio recording on social media on July 23rd. In the audio, which is believed to be the Speaker’s voice, Honourable Egbedun is heard threatening the monarch in Yoruba, vowing to imprison him and warning that the traditional ruler may not come out alive if he opposes the Speaker’s political influence in the community.

A notable excerpt from the audio includes:
“I will jail you, I swear. I’ll ensure you rot there. You think being a king gives you power over me? I’ll deal with you, and if you’re not careful, you won’t leave that place alive.”

The comments have sparked widespread condemnation and outrage across Osun State. OYIGG described the threat as a gross violation of democratic principles and a blatant act of intimidation against traditional institutions.

The group also highlighted what it described as a pattern of misconduct by Speaker Egbedun. Earlier this year, he allegedly snubbed the respected Aragbiji of Iragbiji Oba Abdul Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi (Odundun IV), at a public event, an act condemned by senior monarchs. Additional reports cited by OYIGG include accusations of harassment of a senator’s aide in Ilesa and a previous public threat against Hon. Musubai in Odo-Otin, raising serious concerns about Egbedun’s temperament and respect for public office.

The group also emphasized unpleasant statements and accusations of the royal fathers, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Laaroye II, and the Special Adviser, political to governor Adeleke, Alhaji Munuri Raji, that they are thieves selling Osogbo's land.

Dr. Adeyemi stated : No one is above the law. This is not just a personal attack on a royal father but a threat to our democratic and cultural institutions. The speaker must be held accountable for his words and actions.”

He urged the speaker to reflect on his behaviour, warning that power is transient and continued misconduct will damage his political standing and the traditional values of the Osun people.

We therfore call on the chairman of Osun State council of Obas, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) CFR, and his deputies not to allow this matter to be swept under carpet, saying Egbedun has rubbish the royal throne of Osun Obaships and must face the wrath of the law.

"We also call on the Royal Fathers not to allow arrogant politicians like Egbedun to rubbish the respected stool of the throne.

OYIGG reiterated its demand for the Speaker’s impeachment and appealed to security agencies to take swift action in the name of justice and good governance.

The group also warned the Osun State government to refrain from interfering with the matter and cautioned the governor to allow the law to take its full course. “We are aware that the state government is trying to intimidate traditional rulers by threatening them with dethronement,” the group added.

PoliticsFrom Market Square To National Spotlight: Senator Fadahunsi Emerges As Tinubu’s by Idealplusgist(op): 12:01am On Aug 26, 2025
The recent political event at Sabo Market, Ilesa, Osun State, marked a significant moment in the state's political landscape, primarily through the public debut of Senator Ade Fadahunsi as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).Choosing the bustling Market Square a melting pot of ethnicities and a symbol of Nigerian diversity for his announcement, Fadahunsi created a charged atmosphere that resonated deeply with market women, traders, and local residents.

His declaration was rich in symbolism, drawing on the biblical parable of the lost coin (Luke 15:8–9) to illustrate his political message. By stating that he held "imole" (light) in one hand and "igbale" (broom) in the other, he metaphorically suggested that he had illuminated the path and cleaned away obstacles to restore a lost treasure to Osun namely, the political influence and leadership embodied by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Fadahunsi’s rallying cry “Moti ti ri! E wa wo!!” (“I have found it! Come and see!!”) was met with enthusiastic responses from the crowd, cementing his appeal and signaling a collective endorsement of Tinubu’s leadership ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

Beyond the symbolism, Senator Fadahunsi's political standing is notable. Known for his grassroots connection, empowerment initiatives, and constituency-focused governance, he wields considerable influence in Osun East and across the broader South West region.

Reports indicating his role in aligning fellow Osun senators to back Tinubu for the presidency highlight his strategic importance within the state's political hierarchy.

In essence, this event and Fadahunsi’s positioning indicate a realignment within Osun State politics, with potential national implications as 2027 draws near. His emergence as a political power broker allied with President Tinubu marks him as a key figure to watch in Nigeria's evolving political narrative.

The Ilase-Ijesa born lawmaker further stressed that voter registration should be given the highest priority in every community, ward, and local government area within the Osun East Senatorial District.

He emphasized that the PVC is the sole legal document required for active participation in elections and a key tool to back President Tinubu’s economic policies.
