The education in Kaduna State has in the past decades been in a state of hysteria from disruption like a Salem resident during the witch trials, due to a lack of sustainable reform.
I had an opportunity of gracing the soils of the eduImpact summit; A seeding step toward harvesting a greater fruits of achievements in the educational sector in country at large with Kaduna being the center of learning.
The summit was scheduled at a date written as 9-11 of July, which signifies the urgency of the situation; A wake-up call to curbing the educational deficiencies in the state, enriching it with nutrients and diets it needs.
One of the ideas pitched at the summit I'm down with is the Polio system adoption in the educational departments; Doing the Polio system going house to house (gida-gida) sensitizing the household-heads (Abbas) about the dangers of not educating their children and putting them out of school, and this will also help families who have marginalized the girl-child education in their psyche to unmarginalization.
Moreover, In developing a Kaduna Educational Model, adoption of the Outcome based education is crucial, a reason why we need more behaviorial psychologists in the sector to serve as strategizers; acting as a rationale gear towards realizing an optimum human resources potential.
In essence, OBE represents a shift from traditional, content-focused approaches to a more dynamic and outcome-driven model of education, one that prioritizes student success and the development of valuable, transferable skills.
In addition developing linguistical immunity against extremist-like distorted understanding in the Almajiris, by teaching them Arabic and books that will help them understand the Holy Book better against mere context.

1. THEY DON’T THINK BEYOND THEIR CERTIFICATES:

Albert Einstein said, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” Have you ever heard creativity term “Think outside the box”? One of the major reasons why most graduates are poor is simply because they can’t see and think beyond their certificates.

I have seen engineering students work as bankers. I have seen medical doctors with great skills in web and graphic designs. I have seen lawyers that are very dexterous with finances. The list is endless!

The basic truth of life is that the skills that are needed to be much sought after and become more successful in life are not really found within the walls of the classrooms. Your certificate is just a proof that you are teachable, it does not suggest what you are totally capable of doing. You are full of possibilities when you think beyond your degrees and certificates.

2. THEY PRIORITIZE THEIR CERTIFICATES MORE THAN THEIR GIFTS AND TALENTS:

I have often advised some of my colleagues, never to leave their gifts dormant while pursuing and hunting for jobs with their certificates. There must be a complementary balance in the pursuit of your passion and in the search for jobs.

Everybody is gifted for something, but the winning edge comes from our ability to work on our gifts and bless the world with it. The very best way to develop yourself is in the direction of your natural talents and interest. In order to live a fulfilled and impactful life, we need to work harder on our gift than our job. We need to discover our gift, develop it, and sell it. Don’t bury your TALENT with your certificates.

3. THEIR CERTIFICATES PREPARE THEM FOR A WORLD THAT NO LONGER EXIST:

It has been found that most of the skills taught in schools are becoming obsolete in the present world. The world has changed a lot, and so are people’s need! It is imperative to know that the present form of university education does not prepare students for the future.

Graduates are becoming endangered species in the face of a changing world. Our archaic methods and approaches of learning are preparing graduates for a world that no longer exist, as we are churning out degree holders every year with certificates that have face value but no intrinsic worth. Most learning institutions are filled up with lecturers and pseudo-educators with lecture notes, methods and approaches that have lost relevance in a changing world.

4. THEY KNOW LESS ABOUT THEMSELVES BUT MORE ABOUT THINGS:

Certificates and degrees don’t reveal people to themselves; they at most measure our IQ (Intelligent Quotient). I have often tell people that there is no Recovery without Discovery. A poor man is simply someone that has not discovered himself.

The more you discover yourself, the more you realize the treasures that are hidden deep within you. We carry inside ourselves latent treasures that can only be unveiled through self-discovery.

5. CERTIFICATES AND DEGREES CAN KILL INITIATIVES:

Degrees and certificates can close up your minds to ideas while initiatives open it up. If you are not careful, your degrees and certificates can close up your mind. The purpose of education is to keep your mind perpetually opened towards limitless possibilities!

Our certificates and degrees prepare graduates to look for jobs and not open our eyes to life-changing opportunities. You are not poor because you don’t have a job; you are poor because you are not seeing and seizing opportunities.

Being POOR is simply Passing Over Opportunities Repeatedly! What keeps people ahead in life is not their education or degrees, it is simply the opportunity that they seized. Jobs may be scarce but not opportunities.

As long as there is a problem to be solved, there will always be opportunities. It is a waste of our education, exposure, and experiences if after we graduate from school, all we think about is searching for a job. An enlightened and educated mind should be able to see and seize opportunities.

7. CERTIFICATES AND DEGREES PREPARE PEOPLE TO LOOK FOR SECURITY AND NOT TO TAKE RISKS:

We must be willing to make mistakes and take breakthrough risks. Taking risks and learning from mistakes help us in knowing what works and what does not! When Thomas Edison was being questioned by a mischievous journalist on how he felt for having failed for 999 times before getting the idea of the light bulb, his response stunned the whole world when he confidently said, “I have not failed 999 times, I have only learned 999 ways of how not to make a light bulb”.

Many graduates and degree holders are becoming progressively poor because the skills required in the modern world to get rich are not taught in schools and institutions.

By 2025, we’ll lose over five million jobs to automation. This means that future jobs will look vastly different by the time many people graduate from the university.

Future jobs will involve KNOWLEDGE PRODUCTION/CREATION and innovation, and people that are only equipped with skills found in the classroom will definitely be a misfit in an ever-changing world. Skills like critical thinking, creativity, people’s skill, STEM skills (e.g. Coding), complex problem-solving skills etc. are central to living a more comprehensive and productive life.

In conclusion, My humble and candid advice to graduates and students in institutions is to think wide, deep and outside the box. Take volunteer jobs, and don’t be afraid to navigate fields that are different from your field of learning. Your future career will require you to pull information from many different fields to come up with creative solutions to future problems.

Start by reading as much as you can about anything and everything that interests you. Once you get to college, consider double majoring or minoring in completely different fields. Trust me, it’ll pay off in the long run.

Don’t limit yourself to the classroom. Do something practical. Take a leadership position. Start a business and fail; that’s a better entrepreneurship. Contest an election and lose. It will teach you something political science will not teach you. Attend a seminar. Read books outside the scope of your course.

Think less of becoming an excellent student, but think more of becoming an excellent person. Don’t make the classroom your world, but make the world your classroom. Step forward and try something extra.

Invest in something you believe! Real financial security and freedom is not in your job, but in your passion, gifts, talents, and your ability to see and seize opportunities.

There would be many problem if the Federal Government failed to reopen all schools in Nigeria this year, the Minister if Education- Abuja has already said there is no plan on it.


The Federal Government schools has already been stopped from Writing the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and their resumption to schools have been suspended.

These steps from the Federal Government are slightly indicating the schools in Nigeria might not open in 2020 and all academic activities will be shifted to 2021.

If schools resumption is suspended till 2021 it means a lot of things and it carries different disadvantages.

I will be listing the Ten (10) disadvantages I've compiled for my readers, I will like you to follow me in this and give your opinion too.

1. Every Students will have your repeat their current classes in 2021!

2. WAEC might be stoped for all students in Nigeria.

3. Students might protest for stopping them from writing WAEC and will ask for refund.

4. Tertiary institutions students will protest against the Federal Government decision which can lead to riot.


5. Many students might drop out of school.

6. There would be increase in the percentage of unwanted pregnancy amidst female youths.

7. Increase in crime rate in the society.

8. Teachers, lectures might be rendered jobless.

9. Lose of interest in Education.

10. There would be difficulty in amending the schools academic activities.


These are the few things I've compiled that might happen if schools don't open this year, we hope the Federal Government will do something fast for those students to resume.

And it isn't good to stop only the Federal Government students from writing WAEC, no one should be stoped from doing so. I'm also looking forward to seeing President Muhammadu Buhari address Nigerians on this.

Because humans are wired for social connections, the need to distance from others is especially tough. A paper from Ludwigs-Maximilians Universitaet in Munich published in Current Biology explains that anytime humans perceive a threat, our natural response is to come together and seek safety in groups and in community. Unfortunately, the need to stay apart goes against our basic biology and instinct and creates dissonance and discomfort.

#2: Socialize as much as you can, even virtually. A new study by the State University of New York suggests certain activities can satisfy the need to be with people. Binge-watching your favorite shows, listening to your favorite music or playing a classic game may provide solace because they are familiar and reinforce feelings of being with old “friends.” Music, in particular, can also affect your mood according to research by the University of Groningen. So, watch, listen and play—to find comfort.

#4: Seek stories. In addition to craving social connections, our brains also seek meaning in the midst of uncertainly. By paying attention to stories, rather than just statistics, you’ll feel more engaged with others. When you’re listening to facts and figures, you use parts of your brain devoted to language comprehension and processing. But when you hear stories, you’re likely to engage seven parts of your brain from your motor cortex to your sensory and visual cortexes. Engage and connect by consuming stories of human ingenuity and triumph.

Altruism And Generosity

#5: Give. Part of being connected and in community with others is providing for those in need. Plenty of research also suggests this altruism is hard-wired in humans. At the University of Washington, researchers found babies as young as 19 months demonstrated altruistic, generous behavior. In addition, a study at the University of California, LA found when regions of the brain associated with empathy were more active, the result was more altruism. A University of Oregon research team found altruism tends to increase over time, and a study by the University of Nottingham even found people are more attracted to those they consider to be altruistic. Finally, a study by the Ascent (a division of the Motley Fool) found when people behaved generously, they reported having a greater sense of meaning and satisfaction in their life. They also reported greater satisfaction with their careers and their companies. What this means for you is offering help to others is good for the community, but also good for you. Having a positive experience despite the pandemic is significantly tied to doing good for others.

Emotions Affect Interpretation

#6: Manage your perceptions. You know the saying, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” But research supports the inverse may also be true–you’ll see what you believe. Research by University College London found beliefs shaped people’s interpretation of data. And the University of California, San Francisco recently published new research in Psychological Science that found people’s emotions influenced their perceptions. When people felt more positively, they interpreted information more positively as well. The implication for the pandemic? Keep your spirits up and remind yourself things may not be as bad as you think. It’s possible your own concerns or anxieties are causing you to interpret things more negatively than you might otherwise. Stay positive and things around you will likely feel brighter.

Pay Attention To The Basics

#7: Take breaks. Quarantine can become monotonous—whether you’re wearing a path from your kitchen to your living room or participating in your tenth video conference for the week. Be sure to take breaks, so your brain can recharge. Glasgow ‘stabbing’ – Armed cops swoop as three feared dead and police officer injured’ in city centre incident

ARMED cops have swooped on a busy street in Glasgow amid reports three people have been killed and a police officer injured.

The road in the city centre has been closed off while emergency crews deal with the "major incident".

Horrified witnesses report "multiple" people may have been stabbed in a broad daylight knife attack.

Three people are filled to have been killed in the attack, the BBC reports.

A police officer has been injured and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

The Scottish Police Federation tweeted: "We appreciate families of police officers in #Glasgow will be anxious to hear that a police officer has been stabbed. Please be aware the family of the officer has been notified and is being supported by the service."

Police Scotland have confirmed they are dealing with an "incident" and have urged the public to stay away - but have not released any further details.

They added: "The situation is contained at this time and there is no danger to the general public."

One witness tweeted: "S***’s going down in Glasgow City Centre. Someone has been randomly stabbing people on West George Street.

"About half a dozen injured."

Another said: "Around 20 police vehicles, armed officers, sniffer dogs and riot shields are on the scene at West George Street in Glasgow.

"Lots of shouting and huge number of paramedics in hazmat suits".

Some witnesses have reported seeing people being taken away by ambulances.

One told Sky News: "I saw people being treated with blood on the ground.

"I saw people running out of the hotel with the police shouting 'put your hands up, put your hands up, come out'.

"There were police cars, ambulances all over the street and they cordoned it off. Police were shouting to people in other buildings near the Park Inn hotel to stay inside and not come into the street.

"I saw at least three people injured and they were taken away in ambulances."

Witness Craig Milroy, who saw the aftermath of the incident from an office building nearby, said he had seen four people taken away in ambulances.

He added: "I saw a man lying on the ground, of African descent, with no shoes on. He was on the ground with someone holding his side - I don't know if it was a bullet wound, a stab wound, or what it was.

"We were still standing outside, after that the police all came down, the riot police and triage team told us to go back in and lock the door."

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital are said to be "braced" for a major incident, Glasgow Livereports.

Offices in the area have been locked down while police investigate.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted: "Please follow advice to avoid the West George Street area of Glasgow while @policescotland deal with this ongoing incident."
