NicestDude:
There's this Moto phone with shatter proof glass. Youtuber Techrax tested it, dropped it on all possible angles and it didn't break.. he went ahead, used a hammer and it still didn't shatter , when he hit it as hard as he can, there was just dents like when you hit a stainless plate with stone.... Also check the Nokia 6 both Nokia 6 2017 and Nokia 6 2018.. those phones are strong lol
Moto z2 force uses shatterproof display... Most oem uses corning gorilla. And pls to say the least, they are brittle.

My point actually. Fell with the edge why getting out of the car trying to pick a call on my other phone. Regular concrete floor. I believe the glass is brittle. Phone not so durable. It's a spare phone I got to test out xiaomi.
Oga... All phones will break if they fall with the wrong angle. And yes the glass is brittle... And its not for Xiaomi alone, it's all phones now. Fall awkwardly and it will crack, even if like be king kong glass 9... grin. Especially with this 2.5d glass.

Further to above, I doubt if its a gorrila glass3 on the phone. My note 2, z10, note 5 and hot5 pro dropped so many times without breaking. Was going to root for Xiaomi but they broke my heart. What should one expect from top specs affordable phone? Compromise in other areas abi
Gorrilla glass doesn't translate to unbreakable... Even s8... Dey shatter. IPhone dey shatter with pride, truth is older phones are more durable, like the lumia curved screen, it makes it durable. But don't even think it's because it's not Gorrilla that's why it broke... Sorry for the broken screen bro

I strongly agree, very true. My 5A Prime doesn't close apps at all as long as the battery isn't down or the phone off. shocked

But that ain't the case for my 5 Plus embarassed, it closes my background apps once in a while. lipsrsealed

Any solution? 4GB RAM oo sad
Go to recent apps, swipe down on the app you don't want it to get closed. Hope it helps

If it is based on your preference, there's some level of bias in there. Bias is not a negative word.
It's not about me bro... The guy wanted to get a phone. He was considering the sizes and differences btw the redmi 5 and 5 plus... That's why I gave my opinion.
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by Ifedith(m): 9:45pm On May 29, 2018

Pm me.... Limited stock

henry007:
What you're doing is explaining your bias in clear terms grin

The perfect size of phone for me is a little smaller than the Redmi 5. If i could build a phone, the Nokia X6 and Samsung S8/S9 would be the perfect size for me(biased) just cause i don't fall into the popular crowd. I prefer the weight under 170g too.
grin grin grin grin... Na wa for this oga... But if you had read the initial comment, you wouldn't call it my bias, but hey... Watever makes you happy...

@bolded, I prefer using the word "slightly longer".

Hand grip is slightly better than the note 4 since it is 0.5mm shorter in width grin
Ok... Watever makes you feel better. But from the dimensions... Add the dimensions all up, the redmi plus is bigger... Obviously.
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by Ifedith(m): 7:00pm On May 29, 2018
NoDulling4here:
I see......... you feel since the redmi note 4 you are using (5.5in) is a little big for one hand, the redmi 5 plus (5.99in) should be bigger. WRONG!!! grin

The dimensions are a little different.

Redmi note 4 dimensions are 151 x 76 x 8.5 mm
Redmi 5 plus dimensions are 158.5 x 75.5 x 8.1 mm

From the dimensions, you will notice that the note 4 is actually a little wider (76mm) while the redmi 5 plus is a little slimmer (8.1mm).

The redmi 5 plus also has a better screen to body ratio (~77.4%) compared to the redmi note 4 (~72.7% ).

So the redmi 5 plus is not too big for one hand cheesy grin grin.

The redmi note 5 pro also has similar dimensions with the 5 plus. Redmi note 5 pro delicious device. grin
7.5 mm added in length is bigger for someone who's uncomfortable with 151mm...the width is just 0.5mm difference is not noticeable at least. Well from the dimensions, it is obvious it is bigger. Screen to body ratio is all about screen size and not about the overall dimensions of the phone. I agree, the note 5 is delicious. With the specs, it's worth the discomfort... grin

kekilika:
Also, admit you are wrong in your analysis of note 4 and the 5 plus in screen size. Note 4 is 16:9 aspect ratio. It is wider. While 5 plus which is 6 inch is 18:9, it is longer. Not wide as note 4. Read up on aspect ratio. I have held 5plus and at 5.99 inch, I will say the device look smaller to me.
There's nothing wrong about my analysis bro. How u perceive size in your hands is relative to individuals...
The redmi 5 plus is bigger relative to size... Redmi note 4(151 x 76 x 8.5 mm (5.94 x 2.99 x 0.33 in) vs redmi 5 plus(158.5 x 75.5 x 8.1 mm (6.24 x 2.97 x 0.32 in).. And also heavier.
The redmi 5 is almost as same size to the redmi note 4...redmi note 4(151 x 76 x 8.5 mm (5.94 x 2.99 x 0.33 in) vs redmi 5(151.8 x 72.8 x 7.7 mm (5.98 x 2.87 x 0.30 in).... So i don't see what is wrong about my analysis.

This is probably just me but when i think about optimisation be it memory management or battery efficiency, i relate it to the custom UI from individual brands. May be because 2 devices from 2 different brands can have the exact same specs but somehow not get the same battery efficiency or RAM management.
Absolutely True... But from real life comparison between the redmi 5 and 5 plus, the ram management is better on the redmi 5 than the redmi 5 plus. Sd. 450 vs sd 625

henry007:
Powerful. SD636 is more powerful, not optimized better.
That's true also. The 450 and 636 wer released in 2017, the 625 is 2016...so they're surely some little improvements. As such the 450 has better memory management than the 625...

That "little" error looked copied and pasted "10nmfinFET technology" grin.
That's what sparked my curiosity.
How is 636 more optimized? What does optimisation have to do with it?

Since you already know about processes, maybe read reviews about the snapdragon chipsets clock speed as it relates to the individual cores that make up the 8(octa) core processor.
Oga no wa for you o... undecided. I said its an error. Wetin u want again? Na wao... Some ppl like quarrel ehn... grin grin grin... Abeg park for front... sad

SD450, SD625 and SD636 are all 14nm chipsets. What site do you visit for tech stuff?

No wonder your earlier opinion about MTK chipsets sounded strange lol
Yeah, a little error there... It's same 14nm, but the 636 is more optimized... However there's nothing strange about my opinion on mediatek... They're still crap anyday anytime... Lol.. grin grin grin

Redmi 5 ==> length is 5.98in chipset is sd450
Redmi 5 plus==> 6.24in sd625

Difference in length 6.24 - 5.98 = 0.26in that is not much if you ask me.
I use a redmi note 4...believe me, the size of the redmi 5 plus put me off cus at 5.5inch in the redmi note 4,it's a little big for one hand use, so imagine the redmi 5 plus already bigger that the note 4, ... Moreover it's same chipset with redmi note 4. The video reviews aren't really much convincing to get an older snapdragon 625. 10nmfinFET technology is used on the redmi 5 and the redmi note 5 pro... That's why that guy has been screaming about the battery life on the redmi 5. It also has same adreno 506 like redmi 5 plus and also better ram management. Yes battery life, vivid display may be noticeable, after these, no biggie with the redmi 5 plus, if i must upgrade then go with the redmi note 5 pro.

Nigerians will always badmouth products sha... MediaTek is the only reason Snapdragon powered phones are going on a cheap. And their devices are not bad at all. You don't need to rubbish the product!!!
One major reason why I always stick with snapdragon is the adreno... It has no rival. And most ppl don't realize that gpu a hidden role, all we care for is cpu, well me, my eyes is on the gpu cus currently all phones are already fast enough. That's why benchmarks are being rendered useless in real life usage, especially with flagships.
