Science/Technology / Zuckerberg Loses $7bn As Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram Suffers Outage For Hours by Ifyhunters(m): 8:11am On Oct 05, 2021
Social media platforms experienced glitches globally Monday as users were unable to access them for hours.

The platforms: WhatsApp, Facebook, Facebook Messenger and Instagram, owned by Mark Zuckerberg, could not offer features peculiar to one another as users logged in for information and connection with friends.

Our correspondent observed that only posts loaded before the glitch were available with the refresh function for new posts not churning out new Facebook posts.

Similarly, media content on the status bar were not updating or loading even though they were posted before the glitch happened.

The situation was not different on WhatsApp as messages were not going through.

A user of the platforms, Ibrahim Musa, said he had to switch off his phone twice as he was not able to access the platforms.

“There was an important message sent to me on Facebook, so I was desperate to check it. It was later I was informed by a colleague that I am not the only person experiencing the problem.”

Another user, Habib Taofeeq, said he had no inkling that the platforms had gone down when he messaged someone on WhatsApp.

“I tried refreshing my page on Facebook also but it was recycling old posts so I thought it was a network issue. It was later that I found out that it was a general problem.”

However, using another social media platform, Twitter, @WhatsApp wrote: “We’re aware that some people are experiencing issues with WhatsApp at the moment.

“We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!”

Similarly, @Facebook tweeted: “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

Also, @IstagramComms wrote on Twitter: “Instagram and friends are having a little bit of a hard time right now, and you may be having issues using them. Bear with us, we’re on it! #istagramdown.”

Bloomberg reports that Silicon Valley techpreneur Mark Zuckerberg’s personal wealth has fallen by nearly $7 billion in a few hours, knocking him down a notch on the list of the world’s richest people, after a whistleblower came forward and outages took Facebook Inc.’s flagship products offline.

According to Bloomberg, a selloff sent the social-media giant’s stock plummeting around 5% on Monday, adding to a drop of about 15% since mid-September.

The stock slide on Monday sent Zuckerberg’s worth down to $120.9 billion, dropping him below Bill Gates to No. 5 on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. He’s lost about $19 billion of wealth since September 13, when he was worth nearly $140 billion, according to the index.

On September 13, the Wall Street Journal began publishing a series of stories based on a cache of internal documents, revealing that Facebook knew about a wide range of problems with its products – such as Instagram’s harm to teenage girls’ mental health and misinformation about the Jan. 6 Capitol riots – while downplaying the issues in public.

The platforms were back online after some hours.

Celebrities / Kpokpogri to Tonto Dikeh: You Gave Me A Refurbished Hilux by Ifyhunters(m): 3:21pm On Sep 23, 2021
Popular Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh and her ex-lover, Prince Kpokpogri are determined to drag each other to the ground. Tonto had earlier taken to social media with a post claiming that Kpokpogri has numerous sex tapes of dancer, Jane Mena in his possession.

Taking to his Instagram page, Kpokpogri noted that knowing Tonto was pleasurable and he does not regret it.

He continued by saying that he loved her not minding her weakness, vulnerability and shortcomings despite warnings from top political and corporate friends. Noting that the actress had nothing to give him apart from love and care, Kpokpogri revealed that the Hilux given to him on his birthday was a refurbished one which didn't have papers. It took the intervention of friends before Kpokpogri grudgingly accepted the gift which he had earlier returned.

Kpokpogri further said that he had complained to their mutual friends about Tonto's heavy drinking and smoking and she didn't stop despite his willingness to stand by her till she let go. According to him, he ended the relationship because of the heavy drinking long before a voice note of him saying ugly things about the actress leaked on social media.

He noted that Jane is his friend and beyond going for her event, their friendship has mostly been on phone. Kpokpogri continued that the dancer's husband is well known to him and it is a taboo to sleep with a married woman even though he is single. He then advised the actress not to drag the dancer or any other name into their sunken ship.

Politics / Yoruba Nation: Black Foreigners Paid $500 Each To Protest Against Yoruba Nation by Ifyhunters(m): 3:04pm On Sep 23, 2021
The Chairman of Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination, Prof. Banji Akintoye, has accused the Federal Government of sponsoring a counter protest at the United Nations Headquaters on Friday (tomorrow).

He alleged that the Nigerian Government has started hiring black foreigners living in the United States of America with $500 per head to stage a Pro-Buhari and One Nigeria March opposite the United Nations Headquaters in New York, United States.

The indigenous people of the South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria under the aiges of NINAS earlier announced that it would be holding a “grand” protest at the UN headquarters tomorrow.

“The Grand Finale of the NINAS Million-Man Freedom March holds on 24th September, 2021, the day President Muhammad Buhari will be addressing the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly,” the group said.

They had staged a “Million-Man Freedom March” on September 14 and 15 opposite the United Nations Headquaters in New York.

They said the protests were to show before the world, “the crimes against humanity, attacks on press freedom, free speech and other criminalities being aided by the Buhari led government of Nigeria”.

NINAS is also demanding “the conduct of a regional referendum so that the indigenous people can decide on their nationhood”.

The group also described the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as a fraud against the people of South and Middle-Belt, saying “it was enacted without the consent of the people”.

Akintoye, in a statement by NINAS Director of Public Communications, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye, said, “Irrespestive of the material and financial superiorities of these Lions, there’s no way they can defeat United Foxes in a democracy.

“The Friday Grand March in New York shall be historic, hence, the Nigerian government is jittery. The ring leader of government officials and a top Lagos journalist are now in New York to start hiring black people who will pretend as Nigerians to stage a Pro-Buhari and One Nigeria Protest to counter NINAS on Friday.

“But we refuse to be rattled. We shall not be intimidated. No Oppressor has ever triumphed against the collective will of the people. The people are the government and power belongs to the people. The people makes the Constitution.

“The sovereignty belongs to the people. Our own strenght lies in the hands of the people. Therefore, Our March shall be people’s centered. It shall be peaceful as usual.

“All the people of the South and Middle-Belt in United States and Canada are urged to troop out in their large number to be present on Friday 24th September 2021 opposite the United Nations Headquaters in New York as we demonstrate and expose before the world, the rape of our ancestral land and hijack of our assets and sovereignty by the Fulani-Controlled Nigerian Government.”

NINAS is the umbrella body for self-determination Groups in the South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria with Ilana Omo Oodua representing the Yoruba Land, Lower Niger Congress representing the South South and South East and Middle-Belt Rennaissance Movement representing the Middle Belt Region.
