Obiano spent N44bn on 101 inherited projects – commissioner Mr Mark Okoye, the Anambra Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, has said that the Gov. Willie Obiano’s administration had spent N44 billion on projects inherited from his predecessor. Okoye told Newsmen in Awka on Friday that Obiano, who assumed office on March 17, 2014 inherited 101 projects from the former Gov Peter Obi’s administration out of which 51 have been completed. He said it was not true to say that the current government in Anambra was not doing anything on capital projects. “N44 billion has been spent on inherited projects, there are 101 of them and 51 of them have been completed. “Another N30 billion was spent on projects initiated by this administration and are at various stages of completion. It will be unfair to say that we have not done anything on infrastructure. “You cannot keep the over 48, 000 civil servants both at the state and local government levels hungry because you want to build infrastructure alone,” he said. The commissioner said Obiano deserved second term because “he had done noble’’ by ensuring that the economy of Anambra remained viable and did not go into recession. He said there had been steady increase in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Anambra since the inception of Obiano administration which he attributed to the economic policy direction of the governor. Okoye said that it was not true that the government had spent over N400 billion cumulatively in the budget proposal from 2014 till date. He said the total expenditure for the period was about N270 billion as budget implementation for any fiscal year had not exceeded 65 per cent. “There has been steady growth in our state economy. “In 2013, our GDP was N2.8 trillion, in 2014 when this administration came in, it was about N3.2 trillion; it rose to about N3.7 trillion in 2015 and to N3.8 trillion in 2016; it means Anambra did not go into recession. “This is possible because of the economic policy implemented by the Willie Obiano’s administration through his developmental agenda. “A budget is essentially a proposal which is sent to the legislature for approval and if accepted it subjected to implementation. “Implementation is driven by revenue which is sourced internally and externally, and in these years, maximum budget implementation was 65 per cent and if you discount 35 per cent from that figure you will see that the total expenditure is between N260 billion and N270 billion. “Half of that expenditure goes into recurrent expenditure like payment of salaries, gratuities and pensions. "About 120, 000 school children between primary one and primary three are being fed daily by the government. “We are not where we want to be yet, but we are on the right path,” he said. Okoye said the ongoing Anambra International Trade Fair was a good testimony of the productive capacity of Anambra as it was featuring largely locally made goods. “You can see the effect of what we are doing in the trade fair where most of the products on exhibition are locally made, they are harvested, processed and package in Anambra State and it was not like that four years ago. “You will agree with me that if re-elected, Gov. Obiano will transform the fortunes of Anambra beyond imagination in the next four years. “Our people will be happy because they would have seen that state economy had been fully diversified from oil,” he said. This is a good move by our Governor, building the best airport in Nigeria will make anambra a center of attraction in Nigeria, most airlines would like to make there their main base of operations. Of course enough revenue will also be generated with this. Employment index will also increase, I'm sure this will create more than 2,000 jobs for anambra people. One good term deserves another. Let's give him time to finish this wonderful vision. It will benefit both the rich and the poor masses of my state. |
Babe no mind them, you look stunning, I'm amazed |
The Realities! Be the judge... No insults, just post more pictures if you have any! 1. APGA Rally held at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the biggest event ground in the State to flag off APGA Campaign. 2. Obi's PDP Rally held in the small DMGS Field inside All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha to flag off Obaze's Campaign. 3. Ken Emeakayi's Rally held at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square mega ground to declare their dissatisfactionand lack of support for PDP's Guber candidate. 4. Annie Okonkwo's Rally in support of Gov Willie Obiano at Emmaus House, Awka to declare total support for the re-election of the governor and his deputy. The difference is very clear... Vote APGA to Keep Willie Working!

“Ndi Anambra, when I assumed office with my Team on March 17, 2014, we took-over a state that had no landmark infrastructure and no clear-cut strategic vision for the future. And perhaps more importantly, we met a state that was heavily traumatized by violent armed robbery, kidnapping, child-trafficking and endless cases of drug-related crimes. This crime-ridden scenario discouraged investments and successfully cut off the state from the grid of modern development. Ladies and gentlemen, my Team and I inherited a state with an average ambition but through strategic re-focusing and a commitment to excellence, we have repositioned Anambra among Nigeria’s leading states today!” …Governor Willie Obiano Here is a list of some important personalities that were kidnapped before Governor Obiano took over the reins of leadership. To the glory of Almighty God, in his three and a half years in charge, there has not been one successful kidnap operation in Anambra State. Now, tell me why anyone who wishes Anambra well would oppose Obiano’s second term… 1. Chief Pete Edochie (Nollywood Actor) 2. Chief G.U.O.OKEKE (owner GUO Motors) 3. Pokobros (Oji Isuofia, owner of Tourist Garden Hotel) 4. Igwe Robert Eze of Ukpo 5. Igwe Patrick Okeke of Abagana 6. Igwe Lawrence Oragwu of Adazi Nnukwu 7. Igwe Jerome Udechukwu of Ihembosi 8. Many have not heard the name Benedict Peters, but he is one of Nigeria’s billionaires. He is the CEO of Aieto Group which is majorly invested in the oil and gas sector. He has managed to stay away from the spotlight because according to him, he is a very reclusive person. Nonetheless, Benedict Peters is listed as the 17th richest person in Africa; with a net worth of approximately $2.7 billion. Gaining influence in the oil and gas industry, Peters is considered a leader in the field. As his company continues to grow, it is expected his wealth will grow too. Here are 12 things you didn’t know about Nigerian billionaire Benedict Peters. 1) He grew up in a middle-income family: Peters’ parents, a banker and a homemaker, were considered middle income. He grew up with three brothers and two sisters, and would go on to work closely with some of his siblings as he grew his company. 2) Peters graduated from the University of Benin: Peters earned a degree in geography and regional planning from the University of Benin. Shortly after graduating, he entered the workforce and quickly began gaining experience in energy trading, commodity trading, and banking. 3) He spent time working with Aliko Dangote’s younger brother: Benedict Peters has more in common with Aliko Dangote, the richest man in Africa, than just billions of dollars to his name. Peters spent several years in the early 1990s working alongside Dangote’s younger brother, Sayyu Dantata, in the Nigerian oil and gas business. 4) Peters initially invested in tank farms: After leaving Ocean and Oil (now known as Oando), Peters attempted to start his own company, Sigmund Communecci in 1999. Oando is a multinational energy corporation headquartered in Lagos and Nigeria’s largest non-government owned company in the energy industry. The company focus for Sigmund Communecci was on the downstream sector of the industry, specifically in tank farms, but Peters began to rack up debt and had to restructure. 5) His company is considered one of the fastest-growing energy leaders in Africa: Peters officially formed Aiteo Group out of the restructuring of Sigmund in 2008, establishing the company’s headquarters in Lagos. Aiteo Energy specializes in providing petroleum products to an international market, including everything from petroleum exploration and production to distribution of refined products to retail outlets. 6) Peters’ brother helps to lead Aiteo Group: Benedict and his brother, Francis, are both listed as founders and vice chairmen of Aiteo Group. The brothers are responsible for overseeing all operations of the company. 7) He has been diversifying in power-generating companies: Recently, Peters has diversified his portfolio outside of strictly oil and gas industries, acquiring three power-generating companies in Nigeria. He is also planning to build a 100,000-barrel refinery in Warri in Delta State to further expand his influence across the industry. Peters recently made a massive acquisition from Shell Nigeria: In 2014, Peters acquired a prolific oil block from Shell Nigeria for $2.56 billion. This was part of the Nigerian government’s effort to boost local ownership of the oil and gas industry in the country by giving indigenous companies access to larger acreages. Aiteo now owns a portion of the OML 29 block, along with other members of a consortium. It’s the largest oil block that was offered to investors.9) OML 29 is thought to have up to 2.2 billion barrels of oil: As a member of the African billionaires list, it is expected that Peters’ wealth will continue to grow over the coming years. The OML 29 block recently acquired by Aiteo Group is thought to have up to 2.2 billion barrels of oil and 300 million standard cubic feet of gas. Aiteo has an 85-percent stake in the block. 10) He is known for his reclusiveness : Peters has made it known that he is not a fan of the spotlight, often refusing to be photographed. He is intensely secretive about his personal life, and extremely religious as well. 11) Peters was named Leadership Newspaper’s CEO of the Year in 2014: In 2014, Leadership Newspaper in Nigeria named Peters CEO of the Year for making “a path-breaking deal that deepens the country’s capacity to manage its oil assets and one that will create local content valued at $2.7 billion. 12) His net worth is estimated at $2.7 billion: Peters joined the Africa’s billionaires list in 2014. His net worth is reported to exceed $2.7 billion, boosted by Aiteo’s continuing growth. He made the list at the same time as three other Nigerian businessmen: Cletus Ibeto ($3.7 billion), Tony Elumelu ($1.6 billion), and Akanimo Udofia ($1 billion).

The Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, on Tuesday flagged off his re-election campaign with a laundry list of promises, including building a new airport and increasing the wages of civil servants. Addressing the capacity crowd at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital, Mr. Obiano said a bill to increase the workers’ salary is already before the state’s House of Assembly. “For all civil servants, we have proposed a 15 per cent increment in salaries like we did in 2015 and once it is approved, your salaries will be increased,” Mr. Obiano said to deafening cheers from the crowd. The governor added that a new airport would be completed in the state within the next four years, if re-elected. “Soon, there will be no need for people to travel to Enugu and Port Harcourt to board flights,” he said. “It will be done here in our own state, let’s go now and spread the news of Onye aghana nwanne ya (be your brother’s keeper) because this is our own state.” Mr. Obiano, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), will contest against 36 other candidates at the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State scheduled for November 18. Other top contenders at the polls include Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Oliseloka Obazee of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP); and Osita Chidoka of the United Progressive Party (UPP). At his campaign rally on Tuesday, Mr. Obiano said the party was poised to fulfill the wishes of its founder, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the late Biafran leader. “The person to whom the task was initially given abandoned it and absconded to another place,” Mr. Obiano said, in apparent reference to Peter Obi, his predecessor who defected to the PDP after governing for eight years. “It is this administration that drove away criminals and kidnappers from Anambra State. We are doing well in the area of education and we have put in place health insurance scheme for the poor and disabled so that they can have access to free health care. The governor has put in N200 million into this scheme.” Mr. Obiano used the opportunity to also highlight his achievements in agriculture as well as in community development and empowerment. “Anambra is not a state for god fathers. The era of godfather is dead. We are a state where leadership revolves around the people and their wishes,” he said. “APGA will not fall. It is the pillar of the Igbo’s, a symbol of our political relevance in Nigeria. I thank you all for your support. Read more: http://punchng.com/ezeife-soludos-clan-back-obiano/

It is public knowledge that the poor records of Nigerian Football Federation in recent years have been a major source of concern for stakeholders and potential investors. However, with the new breath of fresh air around the Super Eagles, following their performances so far in the 2018 World Cup Qualifier, one might have a clearer picture of NFF’s major struggle prior to now, beyond formation. Although barraged with several problems ranging from poor administration to corruption, politics and dearth of experienced players, there are indications that financial drought contributed greatly and has been very fundamental to most of the other woes of NFF. It is more than mere coincidence that just about the time the Nigerian Football Federation got the long-awaited financial commitment and resuscitation it needed, Nigeria is experiencing a turnaround in the fortune of soccer and the national team seem to be gaining more grounds. The Nigerian national team recently put a gag on the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, with a 4:0 home win and a 1:1 tie at Yaounde. For the first time in a long time, the Eagles are living up to their names, after years of failed expectations and blame trading. Not to mention, the frequent emotional trauma they gave every football lover in Nigeria, till they had no choice but to give up on the team. National soccer teams provide a symbol of national unity in many countries, and same can be said of Nigeria, judging from the emotions that greeted the Eagles, after their home and away matches with Cameroon. While professional football has been experiencing an unprecedented economic boom worldwide, most countries, especially in Africa are finding it so hard to take control of its rapidly changing funding requirements. There is an undeniable connection between a financially stable team and a performing team. Although that is not all there is to good football, other aspects of the game are easy to work through when financing does not constitute a burden. Sponsorship has always been a major issue with NFF; incessant disappointments of stakeholders who do not live up to their promises, and constant breach of agreements by corporate entities, including some of the country’s finest companies, widely acclaimed for their unrivalled support for sports and entertainment. Beyond scoring goals and achieving victory on the pitch, financial stability of a team is what guarantees consistent success. This is because what goes on off-pitch is as important as what goes on on-pitch. It is perhaps, much more important. We could celebrate the NFF for the victory on the pitch, but the NFF is not the only champion. Their major sponsor, Aiteo, has stayed true to its promise and this is beginning to yield very impressive results. Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was in a mess earlier in the year following its inability to pay salaries, especially of the German manager, Gernot Rohr for over three months, after their sponsors pulled out of an initial deal. It was a national embarrassment to say the least. Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/09/super-eagles-steady-flight-wings-aiteo/ |
There has been renewed Interest in the fortunes of Nigeria’s National team since the Super Eagles thrashed the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun 4-0 in a racy match last month in Uyo. When the super eagles were drawn in the group of death for the world cup 2018 qualifier, alongside Zambia, Algeria, and Cameroun, not many people gave them a chance of success. This is because Nigeria’s three rivals in group B are some of Africa’s best teams. Zambia has been in great form and is highly ranked by FIFA, Algeria is ranked the best team in Africa while Cameroun is the defending African champion. To make matters worse, Super Eagles’ seemed to have been in poor shape earlier this year with many stars failing to show up for matches and a tale of abysmal performances, including a 2-0 thrashing by Bafana Bafana of South Africa on June 10, 2017. One may now ask curiously, what it is that has brought this sudden revolution to the super eagles? Why are the big players that have refused to show up in the past suddenly putting in their best to make the team succeed? The answer is not farfetched; the Super Eagles, and indeed Nigerian football, has been injected with funds. There is a new financier in town, and its name is Aiteo. Integrated Energy Solutions company, Aiteo, signed a five-year deal worth 2.5 billion naira, which became activated in May 2017, with the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, becoming the footballing body’s optimum partner. Part of the deal involved the sponsorship of local tournaments, funding for the super eagles, and salary payment for all coaches. As part of the deal, Aiteo is also sponsoring the Nigerian Federations cup, with funding of up to 300 million naira. AN industrialist, Chief Augustine Okechukwu Chukwuka, has called on the people of Anambra State to embrace the policy and spirit of continuity in the issue of governance and other political activities in the state, particularly in electing the governor of the state. Speaking in an interview with Vanguard in Ogidi, Idemili North local Government, headquarters, Chief Chukwuka said: “without embracing the policy of continuity and imbibing the spirit, the state will not achieve much in its developmental goals.” Chukwuka who is the chief executive officer of Austraco Industries Nigeria Limited, said, “good governance, security, infrastructural development, civil service welfare and agricultural development will not be achieved if the policy and spirit of continuity are not imbibed by the people of Anambra State. “Governor Willie Obiano need to be voted into office for second tenure for the democratic dividends which his administration has achieved to be well rooted in the state, voting in a fresh candidate will draw the state backward, because most of the things he has put in structure will either be abandoned or dismantled, and such does not bring sustainable development. “My slogan is continuity 2017, Governor Obiano has provided good governance, security, infrastructural development, ensures good civil service welfare, agricultural development, and therefore, he needs to be allowed to continue in office for the second tenure in the spirit and policy of continuity and to ensure sustainable development. “For me there is no vacancy in the seat of the Governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano is a burning fire, and nobody can stop him.” Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/10/chukwuka-canvasses-continuity-obiano/

OBIANO for Nov 2017. One good turn deserves another. I stand with my Governor, I stand with APGA!!! |
Even though people get to boycott the election, I will still go and vote for my Governor. None of the Governor aspirants has been able to identify with the IPob community. So it better to vote for the best Governor in South East than to vote for people that will later turn out to be buhari's relations... |
Come November 2017, OBIANO has my vote!!! The devil we know is better than the angel we don't know. Vote from experience guys remember what happened to Johnathan |
Obiano has my vote for November 2017!!! |
In peter obi's vengeful bid, he may end up handing Anambra to the APC. And that would be a great disservice to Igbo people. And what makes him believe that his new protégé will not disappoint? If he could not read Obiano right what is the guarantee that he has a better assessment of Obaze. Better make a clean breast of your grouse. I used to believe, given his philanthropy, that he was above pettiness, but i can see he is only looking for more money. I'm backing Willie Obiano for this upcoming election. He is the man of the people!!! |
Kudos Governor Obaino, you are really doing well, don't mind people that are against you, that was exactly how they were against GEJ and voted him out of Government for a devastating change. One good term deserves another. |
GenBuhari:I will go with Obaino, he might be desperate but I'm tired of new candidates promising heaven on earth only to end up smashing our hopes on the floor. I will go with him in this his second tenure |
It took a man of vision to foresee an impending doom and when Obiano saw the present economic crisis two years ago, he assembled technocrats in a retreat to arrest the impending situation. I'm very hopeful that Obaino will make us proud. One good term deserves another!!! |
