Good morning all
My attention has been drawn to an online publication captioned "Nurses Demand Apology From Senator Ali Ndume" authored by a group INSPIRED NURSES NETWORK AFRICA (INNA). May i use this opportunity to state clearly and unequivocally that i have a lot of respect for NURSES. My late Mother, may her soul rest in peace was a nurse, i was therefore raised through the proceeds of nursing. My distant Niece became a nurse courtesy of my tutelage, i also have two prospective nurses under my personal and private scholarship scheme. The "NURSE" in the interview i granted was not used subjectively but figuratively within the context of SYSTEMS THEORY where component parts function for the effectiveness and efficiency of the system. The Medicare system in this context comprises of Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists, Laboratory Scientists etc. When a component of these malfunctions, the system collapses. Some components of PDP are malfunctioning that's why the Party is collapsing. NURSES are care givers whose role in Medicare cannot be under estimated and therefore should not be denigrated, derogated, insulted, disrespected or mocked. These were not and will never be my intentions, therefore the impression is highly regretted. I also use this opportunity to extend my hand of friendship to INSPIRED NURSES NETWORK AFRICA (INNA) and urge them to avail themselves to my open door policy as my office and person is always open to suggestions, in case they need any legislative framework that will enable and strengthen the practice of nursing in Nigeria.
