Nairaland GeneralBiochar Production As A Way Of Reducing Organci Waste by ijeechi(op): 2:46pm On Feb 12, 2009
i'm doing a research for my dissertation on possible ways of transforming waste produced in Nigeria into useful forms. A technology know as pryolosis can be applied to (strictly) organic waste to produce forms as, bio-oil , syngas and biochar. my main focus is on biochar and using in as an alternative to fertilizer for agriculture. soils amended with biochar produce high yield than fertilizer and not only that, biochar locks in greenhouse gases thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
however i would need help on how waste is collected in Lagos state and if in anyway the waste is been separated into recyclables, organic and inorganic.

hi all I'm interested in doing a research on the possibility of transforming the solid waste produced in Nigeria, especially in the eastern part as a source of fertilizer through the process know as PYROLYSIS. The waste is usually organic waste i.e. any thing that is made from living organism( plant, animals). the needed product obtained from the pyrolysis process is know as biochar and has made tremendous changes in places like Australia.  Any help please on how i can go about it and possibly how i can get information on amount of waste produced in states in Nigeria. thanks
