This is not a new topic we have discussed this topic extensively somewhere on this forum, anyways, the main problem we have is that we need a factory or a private individual company where we can fabricate and AGGLOMERATOR.

An agglomerator is a recycling machine which acts like both a baller and a compactor for polyethylene plastic film sheets (pure water nylon bags).

Did my final year seminar on solid and radioactive waste management and disposal and currently processing a start up plan for my elder sister who is interested in it, so if u feel like going into it, feel free to contact me on usiomame@gmail.com, i'd be glad to be of help.

Waste management and disposal is huge, capital intensive but also very profitable and rewarding, more than the Tinubu experience.

Hi there, I am currently looking to bring in a recycling plant from the UK. I would be interested in meeting with any of you that would be happy to join forces with this project. What makes it so different is it turns the waste into fuel blocks that can be burnt (they are odorless) and therefore used as an alternative to coal and wood.

I am staying in Abuja until the 12th December and would welcome a meeting to discuss. You can email me at mark@outsourcenigeria.com

Zhia2000,

Please can you kindly email me your draft plan for the recycling project you have undertaken? My email add is tymadele@yahoo.com.

I would really appreaciate this kind gesture.

Regards,

since i have pasted this topic on this site i have received many mails and phone calls ,it is very intresting to note that nigerians are intrested in how their refuse is disposed . presently i am thinking of starting an N.G.O called waste watch nigeria ,i believe this is the forum to recruit members and sensitize people on this project.
we would be educating ,doing reseach ,involving our selves in pushing legislation and also recycling and waste reduction would be our mantra . i cant start without you guys giving input ,not money but sound advise and i need good representation all over naija .
thANKS ALL

interesting topic.

The start up costs seem rather high, though. I wonder if there's a cheaper method.

Rlst84sale :
think all of us that are in business should pull funds together and embark on a project like this and execute it nationawide in Naija. I strongly believe it can be successful. There is a problem I just notice there right now, that selfish greed attitude of everyone saying I want to start it send me your draft. Why can't all of us come together make it a big project and execute it?. There will be enough for everybody we can create big employment.

Seun should pls stick this thread to the top. We have people who are ready to create big employment with different people coming together to achieve this. God bless Nairaland and Nigeria
Re: Starting A Waste Management And Recycling Plant by Rebirth(m): 11:15am On Jul 28, 2008
I did my final year project on Production of Fertilizers (Commercially) from Municipal Wastre. Waste management in nigeria had an intrinsic problem of sorting the polythene from the waste.
Shredding--->Jigging--->Magnetic seperation---->Vibration----->then composting

the only problem is the polythene, which is also very useful commercially if recycled (another expensive process) cannot be removed without decantation - that is filling the feed with water and like with garri, clearing the floating polythene. This because will not aid composting because it is almost indestructible. Non-bio-degradable complex ethylene.

Here is the downside -  water doesn't here composting.

I offer my advise for free wink

Appears evryone wants zhia's work on waste management research.dats so inappropriate! how many of this so-called pple interested in started a waste mgt service have actually taken steps to do an independent research.pls stop making dubiuos requests for the results of other pples hardwork; as if u dont want to do some groundwork of ur own.
If u r REALLY interested in this concept, start somtin; maybe a website/blog on waste mgt, a club or an NGO. dat makes sense rather than sending unsolicited mails around, haba! angry

Guys I have done my research on biogas in Nigeria and I used Lagos state as my case study. Last yr, I was with the honourable commissioner for the ministry of enviroment, and this She told me ''Lagos state has a policy that anybody can genrate waste in Lagos state @ no cost to the government'' She said that any Foreign company is invited but Lagos state will provide Land free of charge to the company and would make the waste available to the company.

the land is the cheapest investment of all the business so i think the people you know in government are being non-commital on the project

i have acess to both students and councill workers who specialise and work in the field of recycling and waste management here in the uk,but can anyone post the bullet points one needs to work with for instance what are the very important questions to ask apart from the obvious like what types of machine?and other technical aspects
Re: Starting A Waste Management And Recycling Plant by steroid: 10:50pm On Aug 08, 2008
@ lucabrasi, if you can be of help I would not mind. In whatever way you can help either with materials on bio waste or connection.

hi guys i'm doing a research for my dissertation on possible ways of transforming waste produced in Nigeria into useful forms. A technology know as pryolosis can be applied to (strictly) organic waste to produce forms as, bio-oil , syngas and biochar. my main focus is on biochar and using in as an alternative to fertilizer for agriculture. soils amended with biochar produce high yield than fertilizer and not only that, biochar locks in greenhouse gases thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
however i would need help on how waste is collected in Lagos state and if in anyway the waste is been separated into recyclables, organic and inorganic.
Re: Starting A Waste Management And Recycling Plant by romero(m): 12:01pm On Nov 17, 2009
It is a pity, no one has a definite and leading response or solution to the question raised.

Waste of time and resources.

You better look elswhere for your research. I bet you, even those who know will not reveal the secret(s) of their business here; they will rather tap more knowledge to improve it.

some of us must start asking questions from relevant pple.

Ok, I give all of us 2 weeks to go out there and conduct research on this reasonable topic with cogent, concrete, leading and favourable feedback.

Oya, everybody, start.

Waste to Wealth, means of job creation in Nigeria.
It's very understandable why comments about this topic is so enormous.Nigeria is dirty due to huge population and bad waste management facilities, but i believe it is time we should catch up on the opportunities in waste management.
I have vast knowledge about processes, equipment and end products from tyre and plastic waste.I am a Nigeria based in the UK and i will be willing to share my knowledge with any serious minded individual regarding tyre and plastic waste recycling.
Attached to this document is a brilliant Journal by Our dear brother S.A OKE,giving you clues into how lucrative and means of calculating your profits in plastic waste recycling.

I understand my response is coming very late,as the original msg was in 2007.What your project is called is BRIQUETTING.
There's a project going on in Lagos as we speak on briquetting.I hope you started the project. But,if you're willing, there're other viable recycling projects in Nigeri.
