Guys, please is something wrong with using a politician as a sponsor? People are saying it's a red flag and I'm wondering why or how that is, when almost all our politicians have families abroad. Please share with me, let me reassure a friend that is fretting over this. Thanks.

Guys oo, does royal mail work in Nigeria or how does everyone get their naric certificate? DHL or just e-statement? If only e-statement, is that what you use for the visa application...? Abeg, answer oo. I'm reading that Royal mail is blacklisted ooo

yoooo.... .. NARIC is the way to go , , if you ask me...

i wasnt taking any chances of IELTS in naija wasting my damn time.. .. plus, , they said if you studied overseas , you could evaluate on NARIC.. . . Right? .
So i aint see why not...
i did exactly what they said..... ... lol

Please, does the completion of the standard eectis evaluation, come with a downloadable e-statement or we have to pay the additional £5 for it? And does the "royal mail" really get the hard copy to your doorstep?

Asking them if they'll provide maintenance, visa, flight fee? That's not the same thing as asking about your working conditions. They are not under law to provide it, so if someone chooses not to ask that during interview, then it's all good.

Those questions you claim to have asked about CoS and offer letter are basic questions every individual should ask. Aside salary(which I would never ask. it's always stated in the job advert), how can you even ask for Visa , flight and accommodation assistance when you don't have an offer? It's really sad that you see nothing weird in that. For someone with such mindset, you are suprisinly confident.

If you read properly to understand, I can't recall saying asking questions was solely the reason I didn't get the job.

Honestly I found it quite funny. Perhaps, it's the "connotation" I said that brought about that motherly chastisement, I don't know, but I imagined it was clear enough that I was talking with regards to what will be included in the CoS and certainly not my "working conditions". Imagine finishing with reading job specification and then going on to ask your interviewer, about whether they were lying...lol. Abeg, you people should not make me laugh. I especially love here because advise and criticisms are constructive while being sensitive, only sometimes I agree, but let it be constructive in the least. Don't act as though you cannot bear to see people make mistakes, even though you have sworn never to delete your account...

Very impressive and intelligent to have the offer and very little information about your own employment now. Goodluck

Very intelligent to clinch it first and ask questions later indeed, if you ask me. I mean it's not like we don't play doctor Phil to a whole lot of others, waiting to go in and NOT ask questions. So thanks.

I appreciate your advice and it helps. I submitted my indeed and true profile.io CV last night to like 30 NHS /care homes, I woke up to see invitation for video interview by care Mack recruiter, thx God it's a success. They only ask for DL and when can I start work if employed and I said 8 months time.
Dey promise to get back in 2weeks time but if dey didn't it means I lost the job. My joy is that I was recognized within 6 hours.

This is awesome. Congrats and goodluck.

Kindly drop this attitude.

Your relationship with your employer is transactional, they need your service, and they will pay for it. It's not a honour, it's not a favour, you were interviewed because you were qualified and they believed you are capable of providing a service in a way that they are willing to sponsor your visa in addition to paying your wages.

NB advice to all.

Read UK employment up on laws

Read up on modern day slavery

Read up on discrimination

Read up on hate crime laws

UK is a country that works, don't let anyone ride/bully you. Know your rights.

Your employer is your employer, the day something happens to you they will find a replacement immediately. No do pass wetin you fit do. The contract you sign details a 2 way relationship/responsibility.

No body should use sack letter or salary threating you.

And lastly mind the contract you sign, read it, read it again and read it carefully. Anything you don't understand on the contract ask employer to explain.

Anything you don't like on the contract ask employer if it could be changed.

Good luck. And those coming with kids, remember don't beat kids, don't threaten to beat them, don't threaten them with Africa. Everything has to be done codedly. There are people whose kids were collected by social services. Babies as young as few weeks old

Some are lucky to get them back some aren't.

Anything that has to do with the law please get a lawyer, or read the law properly with extreme care. No go follow dem say dem say. Last last every man sha Carry his cross.

If you want to be successful, move with successful people

If you move with people who talk about woman, alcohol and Nigeria's problem daily, that will be your circle, and you will progress as much as that bubble permits

GGs

You are actually correct. Thank you.
Again, I had applied to Healthcare Assistant days (because of kids I hope to bring in later, otherwise nights have better pay). But in the offer, I see they added nights and I don't know if that is something to even contest, as Nigeria has conditioned our minds to assume that in healthcare, you can't avoid working nights...
What do you think?

That's for those that have their documents not written in English. They'll need a translation for that. If your documents are written in English, pls ignore that part.

It's different from the letter you'll get from your school stating that you were taught in English. This one is "a must" to attach.

I am so fagged out, trying to get that thing to come off the page, I don't understand. One day gone and I don't know a way around it. It's just there...and even if I click submit, it takes me back to the former page and never ticks the status good. I don't understand again. Another question, does fast track really fast track?

Modified;
Found a way around this..they actually required that I write an epistle..didn't want to believe it at first, but there goes ..

During interview that you're still praying to get the job, you want to start asking such questions.

The one time I tried to go deep with my CoS questions, they told me when the time comes, the right department will contact me. That was the only interview I didn't get the job. That was one of the best interview's I've had. I'm not saying that might be the reason for denial, but you never know.

It sounds like an ideal question to ask, but I don't think it's really necessary. You have lots of time to ask that after you have your offer.

As innn...
I'd even asked her what the hiring decision timeline was and she said she wouldn't say...is that the one I want to be asking visa support...? We'll see though. Let me just be looking for my funds..if they surprise me, halleluyah....if they don't, oo..

The right questions to ask is if they will provide maintenance for your visa and indicate on your COS. Also ask questions about your relocation and the assistance they are ready to provide. Already this are questions you were supposed to ask during your interview. But ask questions. Some of them provide assistance up to visa fee, flight and accommodation.

Well, until I see the CoS..because there are so many connotations from the application stage through to the interview that I really cannot overthink. I wouldn't say that I'm one to shy away from questions but there's a fine line between assertiveness and outright pesky...I already felt honored to be granted the interview and so all I had in mind was to pour my lines and zap out of there..

Speak to the contact person that you cannot resume before August due to financial constraint. Ask if they can provide financial assistance to you and have it deducted from your salary over time. If they cannot, ask if the resumption date can be extended (give a fixed date). If this is also refused, then you have to choose between sourcing for funds and forfeiting the offer.

Ask regards building up of account, you can ask if it will be stated that they will provide maintenance for the first month on your CoS. If yes, then you do not need to build account. Most organisations do so anyway, so that should not be a problem.

Thanks Dee, lemme goan be asking. I was the one that put myself in this mess. Contact person had asked how soon I can make it to the UK, me looking at other people's mata spanning like four months, had said as soon as possible, like yesterday...make I for pass interview well nau. I did not know she will now take my word for it like that. cry
As per funds, I will just ask sha..otherwise, people that don't want to pay for five days training will now take care of me in the first month?

Please how do I tell an employer that I can't (don't want to) resume sooner than August? I eventually got the offer letter but it says to pick an induction date from the ones that have been lined up from may to June 24th. That's the earliest date is two weeks from now and the farthest is two months. I've not done naric, I've not built my account...I never prep other necessities...house rent, flight ticket...
Which kain wahala be this for oyinbo people? I imagined say na after CoS we go De speak all this English. Should I tell them that I want to wait for their CoS first? What if they give me the CoS tomorrow tomorrow?

There is HCA band 3 for NHS.
Just want to know if NHS is prefer to care home and do they offer full sponsorship?

Of cos, NHS always offer sponsorships for band 3 jobs and above. They're pretty difficult to get into though and more fast-paced, even though they don't pay as much as care homes. People mostly only like them because they make their CVs look good and they give women as long as one year for omugwo time out...but that's it. Work your way up steadily in a care home, arming yourself with the right trainings and you could be a manager someday and earn as much as 85k pounds per annum. Nobody in care earns that much in the NHS, trust me.

Guys I intend to use Naric certificates for my visa application..... I have seen that it is allowed but how come on nairaland I see people saying it must be UKVI?

I am confused.

However, i still intend to write ielts for my hcpc registration but i intend to write the general because i also intend using it for something else.

Most take the IELTS route, only because of the cost of Naric. If Naric was cheaper, who would choose to write exam? Lol.

I'm also at the point where I'm a little confused as to which to do too, because I wish to be registered with my original discipline's professional body.

Care homes pay roughly 2k pounds for CoS and Immigration skill charge. Do you want them to pay that amount without confirming if you have the right documents for Visa Application? They need to be sure.

Them try...na their time to shine..let us get the CoS first. Two to three years down, we Wii know who will be begging who to work with them in their care home
..if it will reach that time sef....

How could you possibly be waiting for CoS for over a month when you were talking of writing PTE/IELTS last week..

If your firm has not asked you for any English Language certificate, nobody has started your CoS process

So is it only English proficiency they'd ask for, to indicate the start of the CoS application..? Things are just getting weirder and weirder, other wise all these are what should be submitted for visa request. Me , I'm even still here strategizing on how to force offer out of their hands.

heyy @ Ijyoma.. ... what up?

i could only answer for myself... / my situation...

So, soon as we completed the interview... i already knew i was gettin the job, , cos they was talkin about needing IELTS, POLICE REPORT, yada yada.. . (in other words, they were unofficially letting me know.. .. .. kinda)

2 DAYS later, they sent the provisional offer letter, talking about offering the job & documents needed from me (IELTS , covid report blah blah)

i convinced them that i aint have none of those documents.. .. .. they said to send what i have / i did that . .. . . they went ahead with that COS...

Granted , i was over-qualified for the job..
but timeline works differently for different company / INTERVIEWEE qualifications..... . if you ask me...

So, in your case, , dont even trip, , they'll come around.. & when they dont (not to jinx nothing), , but in like in a week, , please reach out & find out..

All the best...

SIDE-NOTE..
Nigerians get too edgy & jumpy over situations like reaching-out ..... they gonna say it looks desperate.. .. not saying to be an ass in your e-mails.. . . but aint no desperation in getting answers that you need.. .. Gotta be confident, , smooth & appealing all in the same damn time.. .
and
God forbid the thing fails, , who gives a flying f**k??.. . we get another one / another way.. .. Cant be stopped ... . Thats why we still alive !!! .. .
Thats the mind-set to have..

Best wishes again...

I really like your vibe grin
Best believe though, that I'm not one of such dulling Nigerians. Hoping to come and share my complete rugggged approach and timeline when everything falls in place by God's grace. Congrats again

Concerning the timeline. It depends on the care home.
First care home told me during the interview that I have been accepted. I have not gotten an offer letter from them yet. Over 4 weeks.

Second care home, after the interview they told me I'll get a response from them the next day. I got my offer letter the next day.
There's no particular way that it's done.

Concerning the IELTS. They didn't know if I have written IELTS or not. We never talked about it. They just asked me for my English language qualification outrightly

Na wa ooo...these people are weird Shaa. This lady was wowing and woahing doing the interview, started to talk about them not offering payment during their compulsory eight day induction training and whether it will be a problem for me, me I said no. Then she said she'd meet with her colleague that afternoon...and until now...blankkk. God will help me. It's interesting to find a care home that did not specify the IELTS, as yours did. Congrats to you.
