For publicity I would want us to take a look at the music industry ,for instance,David,Wizkid,Tiwa Savage and the rest are really doing a great job,not only in Nigeria but all of the world. Why? because Nigerians,public,social media have backed them up,supporting them everywhere and making them popular which made them suceed, Nigerians as many as we are ,we consume music better than any other African country which has also led to the sucess of African music in the world,our artists are best in Africa and they are hoping to take African art to the whole world,all thanks to the great support we Nigerians have given to them.
Again, take a look at our movie industry,Nollywood. Nollywood has now craved it's way to the second most largest movie industry in the world after Hollywood,why? because we consume their talent each and every day,we watch and buy their movies everyday this made them gain popularity both on social media and physically . they have succeeded in caving our well written master pieces ,our stories and ideas into acting,they make the audience and understand what has exactly the writer is talking about again ,thanks to the almighty Nigeria ,we make them happy and give all of them appreciation,we acknowledge their work and see their point of view by awarding them and making them feel special where they go both the musicians and actors.but take a look at we writers,many of us are discouraged and feel rejected all because no one sees and appreciates our work,consumption of books in Nigeria is very low,they don't consume put let alone care to award those who have worked their butts out just to informant enlighten the world.Just as I have said,we produce stories for the movie industry and provide video ideas for musicians.
Our publicity,spotlight and appreciation is being taken away from us,no one cares about the writers,we also are. contributing to African art and entertaining you the audience but who cares ?everyone is interested in music and films,Nigerians think reading is a waste of time not knowing that all our answers are in there waiting to be unlocked .
Nigeria at least you can make it up to we the writers by at least organizing yearly awards to award outstanding writers and encourage others to go into writing.
