tonididdy: Is that the only pidgin English in the world? I don't think it's a fact they all do but you are right when you said because it's cued from English language, they could understand "a bit" not all the time.
That English example you gave, a lot of non English speaking countries speak it that way, like the Arabs, Pakistanis.....that's how they speak and because their english is poor it tunes like pidgin english
If I say " abeg carry your matter dey go" ... even if you are a linguist in English language from havard, you would never understand what I just said. (Using non westafricans/foreigners as a case study)
The verdict is a foreigner would understand a certain pidgin that has atleast 80% full English words and, not all pidgin. You are correct |

Kriss216: Guy, that statement "I no want problem" is not pidgin.
The correct pidgin is "I no wan wahala".
I believe not all English speakers can decipher that. Problem and wahala are synonymous Wahala is Arabic, Problem is English Surutu still means both If u tell an English speaker I no want surutu, They might be lost, but if you use problem, they will understand u I dey with u bro, no mind that mofo |

Samantha124: No, we don't... If we're not speaking English, then we're speaking our home languages or other SA indigenous languages.
But there is a language called Spitori, it's a combination of Sepedi, Setswana, a bit of Zulu and Afrikaans, it's mainly spoken by the people of Pretoria... And another one is called Tsotsitaal, this one is mainly spoken by thugs and it's a combination of Zulu and Afrikaans. Pidgin started as a language of commerce Mostly in colonies Your country wasn't a colony, I understand you I am a Linguist There's a fool here who can't answer simple questions but goes on talking balderdash... |

BoldBrainz: I've been on just one point through the entirety of our engagement, and that's the "fact" that Pidgin is an English-based creole.
There's a humongous distinction between being a Linguist and a polyglot. I should know because I am both. I speak Spanish, a bit of French, a bit of Hausa, my ethnic dialect which is "Lokaa" and the lingua we're conversing with. That makes me a polyglot. I equally have two degrees, a Bsc in Information Science and a Diploma in Linguistics from Taniform Institute in Bamenda. Currently undergoing studies for a third degree.
So, I speak from a place of confident intellectual authority as regards this subject. Again, how many languages do you speak? U speak Kwale and deafinese and u have a diploma in whatever But u cant define Creole? We ain't on the same page Get off my mention |

Samantha124: So haven't you guys ever thought of abandoning it since you're now education and fluent in English?
Because I can understand that those first Africans weren't educated and couldn't speak English fluently, hence they mixed it with your native languages. Language is fluid It is used for communication Pidgin is still very useful Don't you have pidgins in your country? |

I deliberately deviated from the subject matter by asking you a very simple question. Please how many languages do you speak? I am a Linguist Do you know what a polyglot means? People who haven't been to school speaks more than two languages What's ur point? Talking about deviation, have you ever been on any point? Pls don't mention |

BoldBrainz: You have the tendency to be condescending with words.
You do not retain monopoly of linguistic knowledge, as you're so inclined to believe. If my insistence on the subject matter offends you, that cannot be helped. Either you do more research for your own intellectual benefit or you can stick to what you believe to be true.
