The next day was Election. That night most hotels in town were already booked. The INEC never provided where to sleep for the corpers during the election...

We slept in the open during a particular election. It was pitiful. Only mats were provided. No blankets or pillows. It's like you are sleeping in the open. This was during a presidential election, another story for another day, I met another girl.

This time in Okuku. We couldn't sleep there, there was no provision at all for whoever wants to sleep there, we have to proceed immediately to our respective polling areas... That's where we separated. Kafayat went back to Odeomu as instructed by our LGI. I went to my polling area, Tunrayo too... It was like around 8pm, Okuku to Odeomu will take maybe 46 minutes by car.

How she got to Odeomu was another story for another day because it was gubernatorial Election time, vehicles were scarce, it was really late before she got back... I can't remember exactly but when she got to Odeomu it was really late, when she got to the family house. No body around. Everyone has left to their posting. It was strange and odd that she was the only corper without a posting. She couldn't sleep alone at the family house. Mr Fadeyi kept calling her.

He told her to meet him in a hotel, I can't remember the name.

Since it was Election time, all hotels were fully booked. No room. Buy Mr Fadeyi claimed he got her a room...

By this time I was already in my polling area, i had located the nearest bunk I had done the necessary.

We were to spend the night in classrooms. Only mats were provided.

No time to lodge into an hotel. Fund for a decent room was not provided too. The allowance during that election doesn't correspond with reality.

Corpers should be paid 50k every night they spend out during an election, yes if not Mr Fadeyi couldn't have attempted to harass Kafayat all in the name of room.

So since it was Election period and he had a lot of prerogative in his capacity as my boss...


I was posted to a distant local govt, Okuku town (Former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola's hometown) precisely for the election duty. Coincidentally Tunrayo too. Kafayat too but when we arrived at INEC office there, late in the evening, we couldn't find Kafayats name. I didn't smell a rat even tho as Omo ogbon.

It was already around 6pm, when Kafayat called the LGI, he told her that it was an oversight that she should come back to Gbongan...

Anyway I was unbothered...
