“Our food products are the cheapest around the neighbourhood,” Senator Kyari declared.

So produce more . This is exactly what the policy is supposed to do. More exports means more forex and the inability of farmers from neighbouring to compete on price . Kick this one out already
Do you think the buyers are stupid? Since USD is not our official currency, they will convert their currency to the devalued naira and have more money to buy the produce.

I live with my mother, a single mother, since I lost my dad over a year ago and we haven't been having issues until recently
I don't want to assume your mum had been dating that man before your dad passed on. Anyway you can do the following:

1. Call respected members of your dad's family to come and talk to your mum. You are still young, it will be very dangerous for you to engage yourself in that kind of battle,

2. If the first option does not work, go to your state ministry of Justice, ask for AG&PT (Anthony General and Public Trustee)department. Or ask for the department that manages the properties of those that died intestate(without writing their will) explain your situation to them.

They will call your mum and her lover to order. They may even take possession of your late dad's property, manage it for you and use the money they realise in taking care of you, your mum. Siblings, your grandparent if your dad left any.

They will later return the property to you and siblings when you are matured enough.

You are not paying a dime

Baba Historian, the story you cited was a battle not a wrestling - Alaafin Sango asked Gbonka to match on Timi for refusing to pay him his due. Gbonka and Timi used to be friends. When Gbonka realised that his own army, as instructed by the Allafiin was planning to get him killed, he suggested a 1 to 1 fight between him and Timi, while their respective armies watched them fight. It was purely a decision made by Gbonka.

Alaafin Sango NEVER asked them to fight to death. Stop upending history!

Also, Gbonka never challenged the Alaafin to a fight as you incorrectly stated - He asked Alaafin to either die or abdicate the throne.

@impeccablephili you claimed to know so much, yet you know nothing about your very own history.

Read the account here: http://www.adabanijaglobal.com.ng/the-history-of-ede-town-series-2/

What we are saying here is the Yoruba do not have an arcade where people fight to death. It is not a routine for us like the Romans whose culture is to fight to death.

Believe what you like, I am done having a rebuttal on this.
You are wrong, Alaafin Sango sent Gbonka to go and kill Timi, but because they were friends, Gbonka spared his life . But Alaafin Sango ordered a rematch, a duel that was when Gbonka killed Timi and challenged the king to duel. See I've advised you get history books read them not the rubbish bloggers will tell you. My grand parents and my parents told us the story so as not to end up like that king, and I later decided to know more about African history. So I got history books , and read a lot of them, the story was in some of the books.. I enjoyed the the history to the extend that I wrote GCE in mid 90"s and picked history as one of the subjects and I got C5 despite not doing it in secondary school.
The story in the link below comes close, although there are distorted facts such as the claim that the king killed Gbonka. The king hanged himself and the wife Oya became river Niger(odo oya).

Stop sounding this way to remain correct.

You have conceded that Yoruba does not use "gidigbo" to fight to death, rather it is for pleasure.

Thats the crux of our discourse. Case closed
You need to listen and learn from people that know more than you. The Goodluck Jonathan administration made a great mistake by removing history from our school curriculum. There was a fight to death in history of Yoruba during the pre-colonisation era, Just like the movie Jagunjagun. The then Alaafin Oyo(Sango that they call god of thunder) envied one of the warriors (Gbonka). And asked him to fight till death with a powerful war general, Timi Agbale( that used bow and arrow ) thinking Timi will defeat Gbonka easily. But Gbonka defeated and beheaded Timi who happened to be his friend. That made Gbonka challenged the then Alaafin to duel (fight to death). look for history textbooks read about the history of various African tribes. You will see that Woman king movie was a misinformation. That is why I always laugh when I see some children calling Yoruba tribe cowards on nairaland.

Religion / Re: Prophet Michael Olowere 'Baba Automatic' Is Dead by impeccablephili: 7:33pm On Jul 06, 2023
Kobojunkie:
1. That is sound but I can tell you that about 100% of Christians do exactly that — trust their pastors more than they trust Jesus Christ. Here's an example. According to Jesus Christ, all those who follow Him are to pray in silence and in hiding. Anything contrary is a sin against God.
The average Christian does not believe in what Jesus Christ said above of Prayer and of the Father. As a matter of fact, the average Christian instead believes that God only hears them when they are loud and in the face of others when praying. They don't believe in Jesus Christ and this applies to pretty much over 2 billion of those who register as Christians all the world over. undecided

2. Jesus Christ defined religion for you in Matthew 15 vs 1 - 10 & Mark 7 vs 1 - 13 as the teaching of doctrines and traditions of men, ideas which do not absolutely adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ as explained in the above example. undecided

3. This is another part of the problem. Animating that which is inanimate. The Bible said nothing of the sort which you claim — it is just a book. Rather, Paul posited in that particular passages that one has to have been taught but the same Paul in Romans 2 vs 1 - 13 also spoke of those who were never taught by others yet believe in God and His Law, people like him who were taught by God Himself following His declaration in Jeremiah 31 vs 31 - 34 that He, God, would teach people about Himself. undecided

You quote Jeremiah 3 vs 15 but conveniently skipped the most important details of the message which include who it was addressed to and the when of it's fulfillment.
As you read above in the same passage, what is written in Jeremiah 3 is meant to take place, in the future, when God reunites the people of Israel and the people of Judah and Jerusalem has once again been restored by God to be The Lord's throne. All these have yet to take place, so why do you claim that God has given you these rulers when He had to do that? undecided

Regarding the shepherds, you should instead read what God said in Ezekiel 34, a message that was reechoed by Jesus Christ in John 10 vs 1 - 16. God cursed all the shepherds in the Land and called them thieves who come to steal from His sheep, to kill the fat of sheep, and to destroy His flock.
God fired all His former shepherds and installed Himself alone as shepherd over His sheep. Jesus Christ made this known when He stated that He alone is the good shepherd — implying that all others who claim to be shepherds over His flock are evil shepherds. undecided

So you need to get caught up on God's very own narrative and this you can only have by abandoning the narrative that has been fed to you by the very men who God cursed and set Himself against. undecided
No problem dear, since you are not ready to change your mindset about the church and its leaders, no need of flogging the dead horse. You can hold on to your beliefs.
Religion / Re: Prophet Michael Olowere 'Baba Automatic' Is Dead by impeccablephili: 4:49pm On Jul 06, 2023

Here's the problem, God said cursed is any man who puts his trust in another man and makes flesh and blood his role model - Jeremiah 17 vs 5 - 11. You put your trust in men. You believe men more than you believe God. Jesus Christ said you cannot have two masters in the Kingdom of God. The one who you put your trust in becomes a master over you and you cannot trust man and trust God at the same time. God says it is impossible to do that. lipsrsealed
No sane Christian will trust his pastor more than God, Jesus even said it John 14 :1 that we should trust in God and him.
But Jesus himself started religion in Mathew 16 :18, and in Mathew 28:18- 19 , He commanded his disciples to go to the world and preach the gospel, and after they should continue teaching them and guiding them, because without anybody teaching and guiding them, it will be very hard to know more about God.

That is why bible says in
Romans 10:14 KJV
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?.
God himself said in
Jeremiah 3:15 KJV
and I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

God calls some people as Christians leaders to guide people and to tell them his mind , and these people dedicate. Themselves to God's work, and after prolonged fasting and prayer they acquire more spiritual energies that are higher than there members. That why is some of them can see vision, lay hands on the sick and the sick getting healed etc. Mark 16:15+18, Act 1: 8.

I know there are fake Pastors and prophets all over the place but tagging all the church leaders fakes is fallacious, and that is why I said if you have had the opportunity of meeting that old man once you wouldn't have counted him among fakes, That man had down syndrome and even with his disability, founded nothing less than forty big churches. His children are pastors but he didn't give them any post in his church, he had retired and handed the church affiars to strangers. Even before his death.

If you were born before mid 90's and lived in the south west you would have played his church juvenile choir album "ounjẹ to to simi".

I sent a mail to CBN months ago. They responded that they can only attend to my case if it has been previously logged at the First Bank, and I have been given Case Number.
When I went back to the Customer Desk officer who told me she had sent a mail to First Bank headquarters on the issue, to ask if she could give me a tracking number, she looked at me like I was looking for trouble. There was obviously no tracking or case number!
resend it this time around, don't mail CBN and NDIC just copy them, copying the two regulators will make them work on your case because they know the case is being monitored, don't bother to go to their bank branch, some of their workers are something else although some them are good oh. I've used this tactic to solve so many bank cases.

Raxxye:

I have contacted them severally on Twitter and on Facebook. All they do is apologize in the public platform and request that we communicate via DM, but that is where it ends. They don't respond to anything afterwards.
The best they did was advise me to walk into any First Bank branch and lay the complaint, that it would be resolved. But nothing has been forthcoming with the several branches I have visited.
send mail to FBN and this time copy CBN and NDIC, They will resolve it in 24hrs, and if they fail to resolve it they will give you case number. You then escalate the case, that is, you will use the case number to report them to CBN and NDIC. Either way you case will be resolved.

I do not support military regime though, but civilian governments kill secondary school children as well. Read about soweto uprising in South Africa in 1976 and the killing of hundreds of secondary school children by the police.
Soweto case you cited is out of context, South Africa was under colonial masters, there was apartheid whereby blacks were treated as animals. They were not under democracy but slave masters, I don't need to read it I was born in mid 70's, even if you were born in 80's and had access to television you wouldn't have cited that case, because Nigeria government, media and musicians really supported them.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Governorship Elections 2023 (Live Updates And Monitoring) by impeccablephili: 11:10pm On Mar 18, 2023
Kobonaire4:

Not really.

If you read some Nigerian history, the same complaints people had about today's civilian rule is the same complaints they had about the first and second republic. Back then , people shouted for the army to come, and the army came, and we really suffered a lot.

Many of the folks complaining were not old enough to experience army rule (I suspect most of them are under 25 years of age, so they do not know how it was really). All they have known is this corrupt democrazy...and they think that army rule was the time when things were done orderly...forgetting the human rights abuses, the bad economy, and even the same old corruption that happened then.

It's not a waste of time to educate people who never expereinced it firsthand.
You are right bro, but the question is are they ready to learn? They are comparing end sars protest to military rule protest, I was about writing my WAEC the protest that followed annulment of June 12 1993 election. So many secondary students were killed, not to talk of higher institution students.

University and Poly students would come to our school and ask us to follow them so as to use us as shields. That first day they will use tear gas because they wouldn't want the world to see them killing children in uniform. They will then announce school closure for weeks and start using live bullet on prosters, since they were not wearing school uniform.

Military regime where soldiers will stop a commercial bus fill it up, ask them to take them to wherever they want and not pay a dime. Whee solder will stop you and beat you blue black for wearing a camouflaged wrist Watch. Where they will flogged a lady for dressing indicently.

Today People can call out government if they feel the latter is not performing as expected. A lot of our young artists like Mr Macaroni have at sometimes criticised the incumbent government. During military regime people died for voicing out their displeasure . Ken Sarowiwa was killed by Abacha regime for complaining about oil spillage in Ogoni land. He was not just killed, acid was also poured on him,

Evangelist Niyi Adedokun was picked by Babangida, turtured and thrown in the dungeon for releasing an album criticising his government, The evangelist even lost his wife during the problem.

Many people were imprisoned, most especially all this Yoruba elders that some ignorants call cowards today They formed NADECO they fought the military. And I believe some elders in other parts of Nigeria also fought for democracy.

One of the greatest mistakes of Goodluck Jonathan administration is removing History from our curriculum.

Thanks for your engagement. However, my own analysis of behavioral attitude tells me that very few of those 580 people will want to pay that money back into the bank, not after the stress they had to go through getting it.

That money will take another 4 weeks to come back to the bank.

You are right nobody will want to deposit the money back into bank after going through a lot of stress, but the stress wouldn't have been there initially if commercial banks didn't hoard the cash or sell it to their cronies. Now it has gotten out of hands.
Business / Re: BANKER ARRESTED BY EFCC FOR HOARDING 29M MEANT FOR ATM FUNDING. by impeccablephili: 11:14am On Feb 08, 2023
9jatriot:
The problem is not really the bankers but poor supplly from CBN. In two weeks you only gave them 29 million. So lets do some calculation here.

that money can only pay 1450 people if they all withdraw 20k max each. Now if one person brings out more than 1 ATM, the number of people reduces. So how many people are 1450 people that they are making 4M, 7M or 29M look like they will remove all the queues?

The truth is that CBN failed.
I beg to disagree with you. If a bank branch can have 29million naira. That can pay 580 people if they withdraw 50,000 naira each. I'm sure at least 50% of the money will go back to banks before the day runs out, assuming each of the Nigeria banks branches pay 580 customers daily, we won't be complaining of cash scarcity, because the money will circulate, and let me tell you, some people don't even need up to 20000 naira cash.

The policy is good but the problem is the currupt system, most bank staff didn't get to the posts on merits but through helps from the so called politicians and big men, now tell me if your benefactor asks you for a favour, won't you do it?
