National Examination Council (NECO)

The Acting Registrar of the National Examinations Council, Mr. Abubakar Gana, has said that, unlike what obtained in the past, tokens will now be used by candidates to access their online results.

Speaking in Abuja on Friday as he announced the release of the 2018 Nov/Dec SSCE NECO results, Gana said that result checker cards would no longer be valid for checking of results.

Rather, he said, candidates are expected to purchase a token, with which they would access their results online.

According to the information released via the examination body’s web site, https://result.neco.gov.ng/ candidates are advised to check their results online by taking the following steps:

nformation reaching the PoliticsNGR newsdesk now reveals that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has turned down the withdrawal request of the Presidential Candidate of ACPN, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili.

The Electoral Body explained that it was acting on the Electoral Act which stipulates that a candidate would only withdraw from the race no less that 45 days to the date of elections.



Mrs. Ezekwesili announced her withdrawal from the Presidential race earlier today. A move that has elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians with many questioning her motives for the action.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that Ladi Adebutu remains its governorship candidate in the Ogun governorship election.
The party asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare Adebutu as its authentic candidate and delist Buruji Kashamu who had been named as the candidate.
Adebutu and Kashamu had been at loggerheads over the governorship ticket of the PDP in the state.
INEC recently recognised Kashamu’s camp to participate in the upcoming elections, after an FCT high court had struck out a suit against his candidature.
In a statement on Thursday, the PDP asked INEC to recognise the court of appeal ruling which nullified the earlier judgement that recognised Kashamu’s candidature.
“The PDP cautions the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to insulate the commission from unnecessary controversies by immediately obeying the judgment of the Court of Appeal of December 18, 2018, and without further delay reflect Hon. Ladi Adebutu’s name on the ballot, in the interest of a hitch free and peaceful election in Ogun state,” the statement issued by Kola Ologbondiyan read.

Ladi Adebutu’s name was duly and statutorily submitted to INEC after he won the governorship primary conducted by the National Working Committee (NWC), the only body empowered by law to conduct such primaries.
