I WISH I COULD SEE IKÙ By: Sammy Opeyemi. [Note: 'IKÙ' is a Nigerian language (Yorùbá) which means 'Death'] Ikù the monster that kills! Ikù the jinn of trepidation! Ikù the rancorous spirit! Ikù the dauntless Hot man! Ikù the geriatric horror! Ikù doesn't know the rich Neither does he know the poor Ikù doesn't know the unready Neither does he know the ready Ikù doesn't know the aged Neither does he know the young The Hot man of lachrymosity! I wish I could see Ikù He came in the broad daylight Holding firmly his deadly truncheon Roaring like an hungry lion And entered the widow's room 'Take care Mum' said the child! Oh! Ikù! You killed my only child! Why hast thou done this? With gnashing of teeth and grievances She exclaimed and called out Ikù You have taken my only ember! You strangled my only hope! Ikù looked back and laughed With his reddish scary eyes The widow stood to fight With her teeth tightly gnashed She tried to grab Ikù But the monster disappeared Being deeply in agony She wailed out violently 'Ah! Ikù! You took my only child' 'You strangled my only hope' 'You came and took him from me' I wish I could see Ikù That took my only hope! � Meet the 13year old Adekeye Israel Boluwatife with the stage name 'BOLEX' from Osun State, Nigeria. The young boy has sang and danced at various occasions ranging from birthdays to wedding ceremonies. When asked the source of his inspiration, the young boy attributed his motivation to Adeleke David popularly called 'Davido' but also added that he loves FIREBOY songs! When asked if he had ever met Davido or Fireboy, the young star replied with 'No' but expresses a great wish to meet and grow with them especially for tutelage and assistance. In the scratch of the day I woke up to see a shero I woke up in the hands of a demigod Nursing me like a pregnancy That cost a couple years to get Singing without a background beats Pampering me like a princess Luckily married by a poor man Weeping when I'm ill Should I even think of the nine months? When the deity nurtured me Despite the pains I caused her Should I even think of the meal-less nights? When I ate her food with mine My mother; My demigod If I get soaked by the rain My mother would rather blame the rain Which didn't stop for me to pass Which couldn't wait till I get home Instead of blaming my stupidity My mother; my demigod Apart from the creator Whose thoughts are always positive Towards the hominis My mother is the only being With positive thoughts about me She understood perfectly When I innocently bit her breast Oh!
