Ikechi Anya is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for English club Watford and the Scotland national team. He has also been fielded in a number of positions, including
Anya's father is a Nigerian research scientist of the Igbo ethnic group and his mother a Romanian economist. The couple met while studying in Bucharest. After finishing their studies, his parents moved to Scotland in the late 1980s for his father to obtain his doctorate degree in metallurgy.

Right there in Glasgow, Scotland Ikechi Anya was born. He spent his early childhood in the Castle milk area.
His mother, Mariena Anya, said that as a boy Anya and his older brother, Chima, (who is a medical doctor) "was always kicking a ball in front of the house where he grew up in Glasgow from morning till night as a very young boy." The family later moved to Oxford when Ikechi was seven years old after his father got a job at the University of Oxford as a lecturer

Anya maintained his fondness for Scotland, stating that whenever Scotland played England he would cheer "Come on Scotland".Thus he grew a strong love for the Scottish national team.

Football Career

Ikechi Anya was eligible to also represent Romania, Nigeria or England internationally, but he chose to play for the country of his birth, Scotland.
He received his first cap for the Scottish national team on 6 September 2013, coming off the bench in a 2–0 defeat to Belgium and scored his first international goal four days later in Scotland's following match away to Macedonia. He also scored the only goal in an international friendly against Czech Republic

Wycombe Wanderers
Anya joined the Wycombe Wanderers youth team in the 2003–04 season, having been released by Oxford United.
His performances in the youth team ensured that he was well talked about within the club, enough that he was given the number 28 shirt by then manager Tony Adams (Arsenal Legend) for the match at Southend United on 11 September 2004, becoming the club's youngest ever player at the age of 16

He committed his short-term future to the club, signing a two-year deal in June 2005 and whilst at Wycombe won Apprentice of the Year at the inaugural Football League Awards in 2006.

Non-League
He was released in the summer of 2007 and signed for Oxford City, before being snapped up in January 2008 by Halesowen Town. In the summer of 2008 he joined the Glenn Hoddle Academy and his contract expired in the summer of 2010.


Northampton Town
On 28 February 2009, Anya signed for League One side Northampton Town.

Watford

Anya was loaned to English side Watford for the 2012–13 season. On 22 July 2013, Anya completed a permanent move to Watford, signing a three-year deal. [He extended his contract following Watford's promotion to the Premier League in 2015, and is now contracted to the club until 2020.

International Career
Anya chose to play international football for Scotland, the land of his birth, but would also have been eligible for England (through residence), Nigeria (through his father) or Romania (through his mother).

He received his first call up to the Scotland national team on 23 August 2013 for Scotland's World Cup qualifying against Belgium.
He scored his first international goal in the following game, a 2–1 win against Macedonia.

He said his dad Mr Chinasa Anya tried to stop home from playing football but wanted him to further his education.


On why he choose Scotland over Nigeria

"I have no regret playing for Scotland. My love for football developed when I was in Scotland so I was always going for that - for me it was always going to be Scotland," Anya said.
"That was where I started playing football at school and where I learned everything. That was one of the main reasons I chose Scotland when I knew they were interested.

"When I was really young I was in Nigeria but I cant remember it. I appreciate the Nigerian side from my father and the Romanian side of my mother but that is them and I chose Scotland.

Chisom Egbuchulam is our soccer60.com player of the week. The Enugu Rangers Winger was full of confidence on match day 7 against Akwa United in their Nigeria Professional Football League clash at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu.
The winger dazzling skills and pace was too hand full for the back line of Awka United to contain.
He stepped forward without fear to convert all of Rangers free kick during the match, he took four free kicks and all four were on target.
His effort was finally crowned in the 73rd minute when his last free kick which was well taken and had a master class curl, beat goalkeeper Kayode of Akwa United to give Rangers the third goal of the match.
He also combined effectively with Godwin Aguda to set up Tope Olusesi for Rangers second goal.


Despite being on the losing side, the Lobi Stars hit man is our runner up player of the week, after he continued his fine form, scoring his 6th goal of the season against Plateau United.

Victor Silas an Oil and Gas contract staff working with Q and Q Control Services Bonny is missing .
According to his 65 years old father Victor Silas was last seen on 25th June,2015 when he left for work.

He said: "My son usually calls me on phone whenever he gets to the office, but on this faithful day he did not call me. I waited for his call until 12pm, when I called him, but his number was not available. I Immediately put a call to the Operations Manager of his company (Q and Q Control Services Bonny) and asked if he has seen my son. He replied no,that he was about to call me also to find out".

"I have been asking of my son since June 2015 but his company keeps dribbling me around, I suspect they know something about my son where about. Even the Nigeria police have refuse to investigate the matter. The Managing director even said I was embarrassing him".

"I don't want trouble all i want is my son. But if they fail to do so.I will go any length to get to the root of the matter".

Also speaking to Info 247 Plus a Port Harcourt base lawyer Bar Ken Asuate threatened fire and Brimstone on Q and Q Control Services.

He said: "You cannot bribe everybody, Q and Q Control Services have greased the palm of law enforcement agencies which has prevented them from investigating this crucial and important matter. Even the Marine police was prevented from carrying out investigation too".

"Can you imagine the Managing Director telling the father of the missing man that he was embarrassing him and the company because of the father persistent asking of his missing child. When you trust the Nigeria Police to protect you, but they let you down. Isn't the police Victor's friend"

"We have given them (Q and Q Control Services) an ultimatum. Failure to do so means empowering us to carry out legal actions against them".

According to a report Victor Silas was last seen on 25th June,2015 boarding a company vessel called MV Abiola en-route Offshore. He is a native of Akwa Ibom state and has been working with Q and Q Control Services Bonny in Rivers State since 2013.

One of the parents of the abducted Chibok girls collapsed and fainted as the BRING BACK OUR GIRLS GROUP resumed their were their match in Abuja to the Presidential villa.


The 136 parents of the missing Chibok girls, led by the leader of the group Oby Ezekwesili, who was a former minister of education.



The protest started at 8:35am and began from the Unity Fountain situated in Abuja, saw the parents chanting songs of agony to the government over its failure in releasing the girls who have been in the den of Boko Haram for 640 days now


The 136 parents all stood under the sun waiting for buses to convey them to the presidential villa, an action which led to the fainting of a parent probably due to exhaustion



A few minutes past 10am, seven bus arrived and immediately transported the angry parents to the presidential villa premises.Few security checks were made by the men at the entrance, before passage was approved and granted.



As we file this report,they are currently inside the banquet hall of the presidential villa waiting for the arrival of Mr President.This is the second protest organized by the BRING BACK OUR GIRLS GROUP during President Buhari's regime. The first was in July 2015 after his inauguration

Biafra Pro group (The Indigenous People of Biafra) IPOB has raised a serious allegation of the DSS planing to assasinate Mr Nnamdi Kanu and some workers of the DSS who are now having sympathy towards Nnamdi Kanu.

The statement which was published on the website of a popular Biafra media organization (Biafra Herald) alleged that Nnamdi Kanu, its leader, is being tortured in detention by the Department of State Services (DSS), with the final aim to “secretly execute” him alongside others.

It went further to explain that Mr Nnamdi Kanu is seriously sick (from ulcer) and needs urgent medical attention which both his lawyers and pregnant wife have complained about.

It says and I quote "The director of DSS and Buhari are planning to kill some Igbo-Biafrans working for the DSS in other to secretly execute Nnamdi Kanu,”.

“For months now reports have been coming to us on how Nnamdi Kanu is been tortured in the dungeon of the DSS. Nnamdi Kanu is reported to be very ill and needs urgent care and treatment but the DSS on the order of Buhari have refused to grant him any treatment.

“Some Igbo-Biafrans who are members of the DSS have expressed their displeasure and showed sympathy towards the animalistic manner Nnamdi Kanu is being treated which has led to Buhari and the director of DSS secretly plotting ways and possible manners to murder them.

The group also went further to warn President Buhari to release him (Nnamdi Kanu), and also to stop torturing him saying any harm done to him, will result to a war Nigeria can’t handle.

He said “We are calling on all IPOB members to get ready for action as instructions will be given by our deputy. We are calling all coordinators to start mobilizing all IPOB members and be on alert.”

Info 247 Plus spoke with the UK trained lawyer representing Nnamdi Kanu, Mr Vincent Obetta,via social media, but he failed to state the present medical condition of his client.

He said “I don’t know his present condition or state of health because they (DSS) have refused to give me access to see him. I have made every effort to see him since 23rd of December, but I have not been given access.

The house of Bayelsa state House of Assembly speaker Hon Kombowei Benson was bombed yesterday by Unknown persons, The attack resulted to damages to the doors, windows and glasses in his residence. But no life was lost in the attack.

This was confirmed by Asinim Butswat, who is the police public relations officer (PPRO) of the state.

Speaking to Info 247 Plus he said we can confirm an attack occurred in the hometown of the lawmaker in Southern Ijaw local government area of the state at 0405hrs. He went further to assure the public that the police has received intelligent report on the incident and are after those behind the incident.

Our team of Explosive ordnance Disposal unit (EOD) is conducting post blast Investigations on the scene.

Hon Kombowei Benson who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has blamed the attack on his political opponents. Speaking on a radio programme in Yenagoa, the capital of the state, the lawmaker said he was alerted on the attack through telephone.


He said “I was asleep in my house in Yenagoa when my wife’s phone rang and we received a message was that they have thrown dynamite into my house,” he said. “It’s not unexpected because they have promised to assassinate me or my family members.”

Earlier in 2014,his 90 years old mother in law Madam Ogboro Dark was kidnapped by gunmen along the waterways of southern Ijaw Local Government Area
The inconclusive election held last month has been scheduled to hold on saturday in Southern Ijaw and some polling units across Bayelsa which has led to optimal tension in parts of the state

The Kano higher sharia court on Tuesday sentenced Abdulaziz Dauda, popularly known as Inyass, to death by hanging after he was convicted of blaspheming Prophet Mohamed.

The trial was conducted in camera. Inyass was arrested on August 18, 2015 in Abuja and brought to Kano to face trial on a two-count charge of blasphemy and inciting crisis.

Hundreds of Muslim youths had burnt the sharia court located at Rijiyar Lemo area of Kano in protest against the “blasphemous comments” allegedy made by Inyass, a leader of the Tijjaniyya sect.

He reportedly committed the offence at the Maulud festivity on June 31, 2015. Counsel to the state government, Lamido Abba Soron Dinki, said five witnesses, including the police, testified before the court. Dauda’s counsel, who concealed his identity, refused to comment on the judgment.

Nine suspected accomplices were sentenced to death by the same court which delayed further judgement against Inyass. He was at large at the time of the initial trial. They all have the right to appeal against the death sentence.

A Nigerian man living in London called Henry Dare,says his grandson made an appearance in ISIS latest video and was saying 'we will kill them over there' in the video

The video shows five hostages killed by ISIS after being accused of being UK spies. Dare went further to explain that his daughter (Khadijah) joined ISIS a few years ago after converting to Islam and then left for Syria.

Dare, who is also known as Sunday, said that he recognized the child from the video as Isa, one of the sons of his daughter Khadijah, who has also been used as a figurehead by Isis.

Speaking to channel 4 news from his home in south-east London he said “I can’t disown him. He’s my grandson. I know him very well,”. “He doesn't know anything. He’s a small boy. They are just using him as a shield… he doesn't like it over there”.


Also speaking Victoria Dare the wife of Henry Dare and grandmother of the boy (Isa) revealed she hasn't seen lsa for three years since she dropped him and her Muslim convert daughter Grace off at the airport three years ago.

Grace (Khadijah) told me she was going on holiday in Egypt or Turkey. I never knew she secretly traveled to Syria to join ISIS .

But having seen the video in which Isa, now five, was paraded in military clothes and wearing an ISIS propaganda bandana, she said she believed it was him.

Rivers State Government has just confirmed the outbreak of Lassa Fever in the state, which has claimed the lives of two persons so far.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Theophilous Odageme who confirmed the outbreak today in a statement enjoined the members of the public not to panic because the state government had taken a proactive measure to contain an outbreak.

The police in Rivers State yesterday rescued two kidnapped victims (Jackson Sunday and Mary Monday) at Obakiri in Rivers State.

The rescue operation was carried out at 4:30am. During the operation,items recovered were three AK 47 rifles,two locally made pistol and a Nissan jeep.

Vincent Egechukwu Obetta,the lawyer representing Nnamdi Kanu, has denied circulating reports stating that his client (Nnamdi Kanu) tendered an apology to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Earlier report filtered in that the Radio Biafra Director is said to have apologized for ‘being rude’ to Buhari as stated by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The policemen that knocked down a final year student has been arrested.The policemen are being held at the Rivers State police command Headquarters.

The Late Oghenekevwe Edah was knocked down by a Patrol van of the Rivers State police command at the Assemblies of God junction in Alahiakia while coming back from church last week Sunday.

Until his death he was a final year Mechanical Engineering student of University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).

The court of appeal sitting in Abuja has declared Hon.Mrs Victoria Wobo Nyeche the winner of the House of Assembly election held in the state.

Hon Victoria Nyeche contested who for a seat (Second Teuure) in Port Harcourt Constituency (PHALGA 1) but lost to Hon Ogbonda Wene,thank the Judge and all her supporters that stood by her.


She said I knew I was going to win because like we all know,no election was held in Rivers State. After the election,I only got to know about the result over the radio instead of the polling center which is the normal norm.

Meanwhile The court of appeal has ordered Hon Ogbonda Wene to handover the certificate of return that was issued to him to INEC,and also ordered INEC to issues Hon,Mrs Victoria Nyeche her certificate of return,while also directing the chief judge of the state Justice Daisy Okocha to immediately swear Hon Victoria Nyeche in.

There are just some foods you should not keep in the freezer. I have friends that think the only way to keep leftover of foods is by putting them in the freezer. God, this always makes me sick and I try every time to correct them but it just keeps repeating itself.

From bread, to fruits, vegetables and soups, they keep anything that remains of those foods in the freezer. Yes, I know cold storage is an effective way to keep and preserve foods to last longer but I can tell you it is not suitable for every type of food.There are just some foods you should not keep in the freezer. I have friends that think the only way to keep leftover of foods is by putting them in the freezer. God, this always makes me sick and I try every time to correct them but it just keeps repeating itself.

Foods You Should Not Keep In The Freezer And Why

Onions:
Placing uncut onions in the refrigerator makes them mushy and soggy by the time you take them out. When you remove the peel, you see that there is only one thing such onion is good for — bleeding with other type of foods.
You can no longer slice and dice such onions into foods because they would have lost their traditional colour (they have different colours). So, it’s best to keep your onions in an open, cool and dry place.

Watermelon:
It’s really an unpleasant sight when you bring out a frozen watermelon out of the freezer. Apart from the fact that it no longer looks good, the flesh becomes fibrous and not easy to bite.
If you have ever tried eating a frozen watermelon that was thawed, you would know that such watermelon lose their kind of crunchy texture. They become fibrous and tough in the mouth. Also, research have shown that keeping them at room temperature might even help preserve the antioxidants present.

Tomatoes:
One of the things freezing does to your tomatoes is to damage its tissues — just like it does to many other foods. The only way most foods can be kept frozen is by using rapid and uninterrupted freezing process.

When you freeze your whole tomatoes and bring it outside, what you have is nothing more than the juice and flesh of the tomatoes with the skin peeling off. You can no longer slice this kind of tomatoes. All you can now do is to blend with other foods.

Potatoes:
You cannot put potatoes in the freezer for more than one reason. You should not even refrigerate your potatoes because the cold temperature makes them develop a sweet taste to the level that it becomes unpleasant.

This happens due to the conversion of starch in the potatoes to sugar. This increase in sugar will cause potatoes to darken when cooked. It is usually recommended to let your refrigerated potatoes cool totally — if you refrigerate them, before you cook them. This will help reduce the level of discolouration.

Even though freezing damages some food materials, it’s benefits outweighs those damages cause. If you still want your food to remain safe to eat over a long period, then freezing is a very good option.
