upgrading your phone firmware is so easy to do now, if you are using maltina to access internet, connect your phone to your pc and download the latest Nokia Software Updater(NSU) and install the software into your computer, Disconnect the phone cos the NSU will complain about a nokia phone been connected, Use joikuspot to connect your network back, now you can use NSU for OTA (over the air) to upgrade your phone without and disconnecting like honsule had with his. I use this process to update my nokia 5800 XM yesterday and it was very successful.

PM: I slept of when the NSU was downloading about 130MB of update only to wake up and get the message that my phone upgrade is successful, it's as easy and automatic as that.

You all should go and buy some s60v5 phones and start downloading from the thread.

you know when you try to go back from menu back to home screen and the phone delays for some sec because of the orientation change, that's why you'll enjoy the landscape homescreen, it makes the calculator look amazing too but I haven't tried it with the map or those games that complain about orientation not supported.

I still haven't been able to hack it o, i've used all the hacking method I've seen online, I don't know what this firmware wants to collect from me o, even hello OX 2.03 stops at root cert too, help me o

I have already done the landscape on my phone and it worked perfectly.

Landscape Ur Nokia 5800XM Screen



1.1st you need a hacked phone for you can copy files to C drive.
2.Copy this 200159ed.txt to c:\private\10202be9\ folder in your 5800 xm.

3.simply restart the phone and you will get every app (even if) ‘ Home Screen ’ in Landscape orientation.
Note : If you face any problem just delete that file and restart and Please let me know, if it don’t work then it should be working after a master reset (probably it will work and you don’t need to master reset).I used this in my :
Nokia 5800 XM Red-356 , Firmware version v30.0.011
Enjoy this modification though this is not so useful to all.

it will make Home Screen ,calculator, map etc to be oriented in landscape which were previously disabled landscape orientation by default,

I have successfully update my phone's firmware to the latest version after downloading 400mb irrelevant files, wasting 1000 naira on mtn, i just used joikuspot on my phone to connect, downloaded NSU, installed it and it located my phone thru cable while my phone was still providing internet access to my PC via joiku. It downloaded the update while i slept of only to wake up and be surprised by the message on my screen that my phone as been updated to the latest available firmware, I didn't believe that even after checking to see that it's the latest one that appeared, thanks to aieromon and the guys that have taken this thread up.

I'm back now, although i'm having problem hacking this firmware as my hello OS just hang at the point of rootCerts, and stays there for hours, I'm still working on hacking it for now.

I've used navifirm already and I have all the firmware in place, just the pheonix is left.

That's for the navifirm app, it worked like magic.

thanks, if you remember that I was part of the people that started the N95 revolution on Nland but i want you to know that this phone has browsing capabilities more than the N95, I used to hang my N95 by the window to get 3G - 3.5G reception but since I bought this phone, no more hanging, I was surprise the day I bought it and got to the experience 3.5G signal in my sitting room, something I only get in my bed room with my phone suspended on a thin line. I'm really enjoying this phone except for the occasional hanging it does due to accelerometer switching from portrait to landscape orientation and not used to playing games without a game pad or direction keys or for the fear that the screen might break when I apply much pressure, every other thing is beautiful, browsing, media play, video playback, recording, Memory but poor camera output when under shade or dark areas. I love my 5800XM and I know I'll love it more when I do the firmware upgrade cos I'm told it'll increase the speed of the phone and reduce hanging.

I've downloaded the firmware already, i'm waiting to download phoenix which is a very large file. Does phoenix and NSU perform the same function? Cos i already have NSU installed on my laptop. The phone was sent from america.
I'm on phone using my SE. Someone is with my 5800. I'll check the details later.
