I use Microsoft Essential and now defender for my Windows 10.

But if you are using Defender, also Use USB Guard and don't click anything you see.

Funny enough I am unable to activate the defender, I have tried modifying the registry through an online procedure, but it keeps telling me access denied. I can't even find gpedit.MSc or any group policy editor equivalents on my pc. What I saw online was that probably my version of Windows 8 doesn't give me the privilege of editing group policy , so I can't activate windows defender. Any help? Since u are an expert.

If its windows defender you are using, it doesn't need activation. all you have to do is turn it on and it can only be done by uninstalling any other anti-virus software that is installed...

Windows Defender does just fine and its effective to an extent. But if you truely want the best then upgrade to Bitdefender. it's the best antivirus in planet earth for now. any other one apart from this two only gives your system aches.
